Carolina J. ‘Carol’ Martinez, 89, of Hutchinson, died June 25, 2020, at Hospice House. She was born June 16, 1931, in Newton, to Ignacio and Maria (DeNeri) Martinez.

Carol graduated from Newton High School in 1951. She worked for Wal-Mart as a department manager for 24 years. Carol belonged to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Spanish Choir and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

On September 8, 1956, she married Raymond Martinez, in Newton. They shared 34 years together before he passed on June 22, 1990.

Carol is survived by sons, Hector Martinez (Cindy), Mesa, AZ, Rafael Martinez (Ellen Dugan); daughters, Mary Harper (Tim) and Kathleen Vieyra (Michael), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Tiffany Miller-Baker (Chris), Brett Vieyra, Quinn Martinez, Jordan Weninger (Tim), Casey Harper; great-grandchildren, Preston Miller-Baker, Caleb Weninger, Adelayde Martinez; sisters, Dolores Rioz and Amelia Martinez; brothers, Alberto and Benito Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Martinez; and siblings, Manuel, Antonia, Rosa, Ignacio, Miguel, Maria, Fernando, Juan, Armando, Ricardo, and Berta.

Parish Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic  Church, 612 S. Maple, South  Hutchinson, with Father Todd Shepherd officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at the church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends following the Parish Rosary on Monday at the church. A live stream of the service will also be available to view on the OLG Hutch YouTube page on Tuesday.
