Sharon Kay Halula, 79, died on December 1, 2020 at Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph, Wichita, KS. She was born December 18, 1940, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Marvin and Esther (DeGroff) Moles.

Sharon graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1958. She worked as a medical transcriptionist, art teacher and as a surgical assistant. She loved oil painting and was a master seamstress. She also enjoyed making jewelry and woodworking that won her ribbons at the fair. Sharon attended and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she volunteered at the church and made many rosaries.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Halula, sons, Brian and Matthew Halula.

In 1959, Carol graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, CO. and then attended Wichita State University majoring in Langue Arts. After college she worked for USD 308 as an English and Remedial Math teacher. On December, 24, 1975, Carol married Carl Hartman. He passed away in 1995. Carol loved music, reading and politics. She worked for the National Boy Scouts Office and she was a member and attended First Church of the Nazarene and National Educating Association.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Hartman and a brother, James Lidberg.

Survivors include her son, Stan (Akiyo Urano) Hartman and daughter, Carla (John) Smalley; a brother, Richard (Jeanne) Lindberg; a sister, Martha Lidberg and five grandchildren, Seiji and Kenji Urano and Isaac, Hannah and Samuel Smalley.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at First Church of the Nazarene, 4290 N. Monroe, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Kent Pedersen officiating. Cherol J. Schoon, age 83, passed away December 3, 2020, at Reflections Nursing Home, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born April 25, 1937, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Schmidt) Reck.

She graduated from Springville High School, Springville, IA. with the class of 1954. Cherol was a homemaker and raised five children.&nbsp; She was an Assistant City Clerk for the City of Haven and read utility meters, retiring in 2001. Cherol also worked for the Haven Drugstore as a soda jerk. Cherol was a long-time resident of Haven until 2016 when she made her home in Hutchinson.

Cherol married Marvin L Schoon on September 2, 1956 in Anamosa, IA.&nbsp; He passed away in 1996.

Survivors include her children; Carol Biby of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Scott Schoon (Michelle) of Winfield, Robin Cherry (David) of Buhler, Anne Stankey (Terry) of Haven, and Lisa Stringer (Jeff) of Hutchinson; siblings, Janelle Sproston, Lisbon, IA, Sharon Kell (Bill), Monticello, IA., John Reck (Melody), Robins, IA.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Larry Sproston.

Larry Edwin Morris, 79, died November 28, 2020, at his home. He was born December 12, 1940, in Severance, to Edwin Allen and Clara Pauline (Courtin) Morris.

Larry was a 1959 graduate of Midway Rural High School, Denton. He attended Emporia State University for one year. Larry served in the Kansas Army National Guard as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne, and the Hutchinson National Guard. He was a lifetime long haul truck driver for various companies, with the latest being ALDI Grocery Stores. Larry was also a night custodian for three years at Hutchinson High School. He was a collector of guns and knives, and an avid reader.

Larry is survived by children, Justina (Kevin) Denison of Hutchinson, and Patrick (Stacy) Lomantini of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Jonathon Denison, Jordan Denison, Patrick Lomantini II, Michael Lomantini, Alyssa Lomantini, and Alexa Lomantini; one great-grandson; siblings, Gary Morris of Jacksonville, FL, and Kelly (Debbie) Morris of Hoisington; numerous nieces and one nephew; and Marsha Wheeler, mother of Justina and Patrick, of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Debbie Boesker.

Cremation has taken place. Private Celebration of Life gathering will be Saturday, December 19, 2020.

Daniel Lee Mount, 64, of Hutchinson, died December 1, 2020, at his home. He was born November 20, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, Bruce William and Lois (Whitney) Mount.

Dan graduated from Elizabeth High School, in Colorado, in 1975. Over the years he worked as a dairy farmer, water distribution manager, and a pastor. Dan was involved in 4-H, the Zoning Board of Marion County, and the Ellsworth County Fair Board. He served as a deacon at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, pastor at CrossPoint Lindsborg, and as a small group and grow group leader. Dan loved to love people.&nbsp; Dan was a member of CrossPoint Church.&nbsp;

On March 19, 1977, in Elizabeth, Colorado, he married June Kobilan. They shared 43 years of marriage together.&nbsp;

Dan is survived by wife, June Mount, Hutchinson; daughters, Amanda (Robert) McKinson, Winfield, Ashley (Dustin) Jost, Hillsboro, Cheri (Tyler) Weinbrenner, Inman, Katie Mount, Chonburi, Thailand; brothers, Ron (Allison) Mount, Brush, Colorado, Tom (Yvette) Mount, Aurora, Colorado; and ten grandchildren.

Marcus Lee “Mark” Gregory, age 68, of Buhler, Kansas passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Hutchinson. He was born January 21, 1952, in Hominy, Oklahoma, the son of Marcus Leon and Dorothy Ann (Scott) Gregory.

Mark moved to Kansas when he was six months old, living most of his life in Buhler. He was a 1970 graduate of Buhler High School and a 1972 graduate of Hutchinson Community College. Mark owned and operated Gregory Inc. in Buhler. He served on the Buhler City Council from 1981-1991 and served as Mayor of Buhler from 1993-1997. He was baptized at First Southern Baptist Church in Hutchinson and was a member of Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church.

Mark married Valerie Weaver June 10, 1978 at Bolivar, Missouri. She survives of their home.

Other survivors include children and grandchildren; Leah (Greg)Yoder and their children, Gavriel and Lily, all of Glendale, CA, Lindsay (David) Butler and their children, Vienna, Oliver and Cora, all of Scarborough, ME, Andrew Gregory of Buhler, and Claire (Jacob) Bowling of St. Louis, MO; his mother, Dorothy Ann Gregory of Buhler; siblings, Timothy (Donna) Gregory of Nixa, MO, Jonathan Gregory of Lincoln, NE, David (Beth) Gregory of Cornelius, NC, and Sarah (Todd) Kuykendall of Enid, OK.

Ira attended the Sunrise Grade School in rural Goessel and graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1967.

He was a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel and attended church at Castle Oak Church in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Ira worked as a plumber for many years, owning his own business, Vogel Plumbing in Parker.

He is survived by his sister, LaVerna Ediger of Inman; brothers, Jimmy Schroeder of Canton and John Schroeder of Hesston; brother-in-law, Wilbert Schmidt of Goessel; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Schroeder of Sacramento, California.

Lois Iwretha Beck, 90, died November 27, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born August 27, 1930, to Carl Floyd and Clarinda Augusta (Cole) Dovel.

Lois graduated from Hutchinson High School. She worked for a period of time at Sears, before retiring from the Central Kansas Credit Union. Lois attended Medora Community Bible Church.

On August 25, 1950, she married Allen Dean Beck, in Newton. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage before Allen passed on November 5, 2016.

Lois is survived by children, Debra England (Kenneth) of Council Grove, Tony Beck (Libby), Steven Beck (Karen), all of Hutchinson; and Rex Beck (Rae) of Buhler; brother, Olin Dovel of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Delores Dovel; sisters, Carlene Deming, Minna Barker; brothers, Delmar Dovel and Darrel Dovel; and step-granddaughter, Megan Kristine Henson.

Genaro “Hank” Vieyra, 87, of Hutchinson, died November 28, 2020, at his home. He was born September 19, 1933, in Garfield, to Pedro and Margaret (Delgado) Vieyra.

Hank graduated from Larned High School in 1952. He then joined the United States Army, serving from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean Conflict. Hank belonged to the VFW Bob Campbell Post 1361, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68, and the American G.I. Forum and he was a passionate fan of Raiders football and Yankees baseball. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Hank is survived by wife, Mary Smith-Vieyra, Hutchinson; sons, Chris Vieyra (Rose McGillivray), Hutchinson, Matt Vieyra (Devin), Virginia; daughters, Carol Powers (Tim), Virginia, Cindy Keim (Steve), Colorado; step daughter, Anna Fay, Virginia; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Vieyra, Inez Vieyra, both of Hutchinson, and Cecilia Gutierrez, Wichita.

Stanley A. Zimmerman, 79, of Overland Park, Kansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at his home. He was born September 15, 1941 in Sterling, Kansas, the son of Zerald and Marjorie (Barnard) Zimmerman.&nbsp;

He attended Salt City Business College and received a Business Administration degree from Webster University. He was an accountant at various places of business and was employed by Sprint. He served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of a Specialist 4. He was a member of Mission Road Bible Church and served in many capacities.

Stan was united in marriage to Margaret Enns on September 5, 1964. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Peggy (Paul) Collison of Shawnee, Kansas and Traci (Bob) Moldovan of Warren, Ohio. He has seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.&nbsp;

She was a dedicated homemaker. Doris worked as a CMA and physical therapist at Shiloh Manor in Canton and Moundridge Manor.

She was a member of United Center Mennonite Church and a former member of Lone Tree Church, both of Galva.

Doris was united in marriage to Vernon Voth on May 27, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2015. She later married Kermit Unruh on July 18, 2015. He survives of the home.

She is also survived by her sons, Calvin Voth of McPherson and Marvin (Terri) Voth of Canton; step-sons, Dennis (Lanita) Unruh of Canton and Delmar (Becky) Unruh of Gavla; step-daughter, Darlene (Randy) Koehn of Galva; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Joseph Daniel ‘J.D.’ Pearce, 90, of Burrton, died November 27, 2020, at his home. He was born July 1, 1930, in Bartlesville, OK, to Herbert E. and Mary E. (Bird) Pearce.

J.D., or ‘Podge’, as he was known to many, graduated from Burrton High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Podge’s working career included stints on the railroad, in the oilfield, as bus driver for Burrton schools, at Cessna in Hutchinson, before landing at KPL in the Hutchinson power plant, where he worked in mechanical maintenance for 25 years.

Podge was a member of Burrton United Methodist Church and Burrton Masonic Lodge. He served on the Burrton School Board and Burrton City Council for many years. Podge enjoyed golfing, watching KU basketball, doing home projects, going to coffee with friends, and finding a way to provide everything his family ever needed.

On November 11, 1951, Podge married Marjorie L. ‘Marge’ Collins, in Aiken, SC. They shared nearly 69 years of marriage before her death on November 6, 2020.

He is survived by children, Dan Pearce (Debbie), Protection, Randy Pearce (Lynette), Wamego, John Pearce, Jim Pearce, Kerrie Considine (Barry), all of Burrton; grandchildren, C.J. Pearce, Meghan Bui (Dung), Aimee Bastian (Clay), Ashley Shilts (Sam), Christopher, Steven, and Kristen Pearce; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Podge was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Imogene; great-granddaughter, October Shilts; and great-grandson, Ashton.

James ‘Jim’ Allen Strong, 77, passed away November 26, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born October 1, 1943, in Hutchinson.

Jim was the maintenance superintendent for 39 years at Far-Mar-Co and Farmland Industries elevator, formerly Gano-Horace Grain, Inc. He could work on and repair anything, from building his own home and garage, to painting vehicles and building trailers. If you needed something repaired, worked on, or built from scratch, he was a ‘Jim-of-all-trades’. He was a great outdoorsman who was always on the hunt for the next fish, bird, or animal.

On October 20, 1962, he married Barbara Dove, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 58 years of marriage.

Jim is survived by wife, Barbara Strong of Hutchinson; children, James (Mary) Strong of Hutchinson, Kelley (Gordon) Miller of Burrton, April Strong of Hutchinson, and Christine Strong (fiancé, Nicholas Hutchison) of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, George Moore, Glenn Strong, and Richard Strong.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.&nbsp;

He was born October 1, 1943, in Hutchinson.Jim was the maintenance superintendent for 39 years at Far-Mar-Co and Farmland Industries elevator, formerly Gano-Horace Grain, Inc. He could work on and repair anything, from building his own home and garage, to painting vehicles and building trailers. If you needed something repaired, worked on, or built from scratch, he was a ‘Jim-of-all-trades’. He was a great outdoorsman who was always on the hunt for the next fish, bird, or animal.On October 20, 1962, he married Barbara Dove, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 58 years of marriage.Jim is survived by wife, Barbara Strong of Hutchinson; children, James (Mary) Strong of Hutchinson, Kelley (Gordon) Miller of Burrton, April Strong of Hutchinson, and Christine Strong (fiancé, Nicholas Hutchison) of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, George Moore, Glenn Strong, and Richard Strong.Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, Pratt, or The Salvation Army, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Joseph Leo ‘Joe’ Keating, 82, of Hutchinson, died November 25, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born February 19, 1938, in Frankfort, to Leo A. and Marie A. (Culhan) Keating.

Joe grew up on the family dairy farm near Home City and graduated from Beattie High School in 1956. He attended Benedectine College and Kansas State University. Joe served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1962 and the National Guard from 1962 to 1966. He began his career with Borton Incorporated in 1957 and held many jobs over the years, from timekeeper to job superintendent to safety director to director of human resources to assistant general superintendent. Joe retired in 2003, after 46 years with the company.

He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and was a 3rd&nbsp;Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Council #612 and 4th&nbsp;Degree Knight with the Father Cushing Assembly.

On January 9, 1971, Joe married Kay M. (Minihan) Spitler, in Emporia. She died August16, 2015.

He is survived by children, Terri Shurtleff, Wichita, Rick Spitler (Amy), Hutchinson, Joey Keating (Sarah), Russellville, AR; grandchildren, Kristie McClellan (Roger), Ryan Spitler, Lexie Boor (Brad), Katie Shurtleff, Courtney Keating, Abby Spitler, Emily Keating; great-grandchildren, Connor Shurtleff, Theodore Boor, and one on the way; siblings, Patsy Micheletti (Norm), Blue Springs, MO, Jean Nordhus (Jerry), Shawnee, Rose Marie Keating (Jim Brauer), Albuquerque, NM, Mick Keating (Jane), Marysville; and many extended family members.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kay; son, Doug Spitler; brother, Louis; and sisters, Mary Ellen, Rita, and Ann.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., both at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E 5th&nbsp;Ave., Hutchinson, with Father Michael J. Zack Allen Collins, 78, of Partridge, died November 27, 2020, at his home. He was born January 3, 1942, in Hutchinson, to Robert and Anabel (High) Collins.

Zack graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1960.&nbsp; He was a jockey for many years, and then became a farmer and rancher. Zack loved hunting, fishing, and horse and ranch magazines.

On September 11, 1968, he married Stana Marie Asmussen in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared 52 years of marriage together.

Zack is survived by wife, Stana Collins; son, Hondo Collins (Michelle); daughter, Kecia Collins (James Farra), granddaughter, Aleah Collins; grandson, Kolbi Collins; brother, Terry ‘Sig’ Collins (Thania), all of Partridge; and brother,Mark Collins (Mary), Greeley, Colorado.

Robert H. Howe, 84, died November 25, 2020 at the Medicalodge of Wichita. He was born March 1, 1936 in Larned, the son of Henry and Iola Hartwig Howe.

A graduate of Hutchinson High School, he attended Hutchinson Junior College, where he received his vocational certificate in welding. He was a resident of Hutchinson most of his life where he was an auto mechanic and a lifetime member of the AmVets. He served in the Kansas National Guard and then in the United States Army. While in the Army, he served in Korea and his last assignment was in Washington, DC with the honor guard.

Survivors include a brother, Doyle Howe; a sister, Mary J. Wait; nieces and nephews, Felix, Charles, and Alan Howe; Steve Love; Janette Love Cohlmia, Greg, Mike, and Don Phillips; Anne Wait McGreevy, and Dr. Adam Wait.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, N. Jocene Love and Joanne M. Phillips.

Per Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Inman Funeral Home. on May 9, 1966. She worked and lived on a farm all her life.

She is survived by her loving husband, James DeWald; and two step 
daughters; Andrea Janzen from Buhler, Kansas, and Stephanie Hermes from 
West Des Moines, Iowa; six step grandchildren and four great 
grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Vernetta Rogers from 
Hutchinson, Kansas, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and
 many cousins.

There will be no visitation due to cremation and burial will be at a later date.

Mark Edward Phelps, 66, of Moundridge, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Newton Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born June 24, 1954 in Lyons, New York, the son of Edward and Marion (Hutchinson) Phelps.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Hill on May 21, 1977 in Newark, New York.

Mark served in the United States Army from 1977 to 1988, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Mark was a member of McPherson Free Methodist Church.&nbsp; He pastored at many churches throughout the years.

He enjoyed drawing, music and watching New England Patriots football.

He was survived by his wife, Nancy Phelps of Moundridge; daughters, Nichole (Adam) Miller of Hesston, and Rebecka Phelps of Moundridge; granddaughter, Eisley Miller of Hesston; brothers, David (Lynda) Phelps of Syracuse, New York and Timothy Phelps of Newark, New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Vicki Sue Johnson, 60, died November 23, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born January 3, 1960, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Ray Emory and Opal Jane (Ford) Davenport, Jr.&nbsp;

Vicki graduated from Inman High School in 1978 and Hesston College in 1990, receiving her registered nursing degree. For over 30 years, she was a nurse at various medical facilities, from Halstead, Hutchinson, and McPherson Hospitals, to a flight nurse for Life Team. Vicki’s nursing passion was helping emergency room patients. For the past five years, she worked at the Cancer Center of Kansas, located in McPherson. Vicki also volunteered for the McPherson Saddle Club, Relay for Life, and Inman Fire Department. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially horseback riding and fishing. However, Vicki’s favorite calling was as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman.

On June 15, 1979, Vicki married her high school sweetheart, Russell Lyle ‘Rusty’ Johnson, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. They shared over 41 years of marriage.

Vicki is survived by husband, Rusty of Inman; son, Austin Johnson of Buhler; daughter, Alexis Gunn (Jed) of Wakefield; grandsons, Jordan Gunn and Bryant Gunn; sister, Debra Friesen; brother, Bill Davenport (Marcy) all of McPherson; and mother-in-law, Zora Johnson of Inman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Opal Davenport, and father-in-law, Ron Johnson.

Private memorial service will be Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dennis Ureche and Pastor Erik Graefe officiating. Michael L. “Mike” Krehbiel, 63, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away November 12, 2020 at his home. He was born May 23, 1957 in Moundridge, the son of Gary A. and Dorothy M. (Neufeld) Krehbiel.

Mike attended schools in Moundridge, graduating with the class of 1975.

He worked as a technician for Williams Energy Services in Conway, Kansas.

He was a member of Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge. Mike was also a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors hunting and fishing. Before their passing, Mike looked forward to Sunday dinner with his mom and Saturday morning coffee with his dad. Above all, Mike loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Mike was survived by his brothers, Greg (Glenda) Krehbiel , and Kim Krehbiel, both of Moundridge; sister, Robyn (Steve) Roberson of Newton; nieces and nephews, Randi (Chad) Johnson, Ankeny, Iowa, Christina (Shannon) Sporleder of McPherson, TJ (Rebecca) Bales of McPherson, Zach Roberson and Kori Roberson, both of Newton; and great-nieces and nephews, Joaquin, Zane, Hayden, Gwen, and Chase.

Donna Rae Christy Petty, 83, formerly of Hutchinson, died at her home at Reflection Ridge Retirement in Wichita, November 23, 2020. She was born on April 7, 1937 to Frank and Ada (Clothier) Christy. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and married Clinton Petty, June 15, 1957. She was a lifelong homemaker, a member of Northside Church of Christ, Wichita and a former member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson.

Donna spent her life caring for others and bringing laughter to the room. She loved playing games, telling stories, and making up funny words to make her grandchildren giggle. She was known for her chicken and noodles and homemade rolls and was born with a green thumb. Her real gift was loving the broken hearted and discouraged. She learned early in life she could lift other’s spirits by her words, antics, prayers, and hugs. Her grandchildren enjoyed special times of spoiling in her home. She was self-disciplined in her healthcare and lived a long life because of it and the power of prayer. Donna grew up working in her dad Frank’s barbershop on A and later B Streets in Hutchinson. She worked at Kress Drugs at the soda fountain in high school and later for Week’s Drug after graduation. She soon met the love of her life, Clint Petty who has based at the Naval Air Station. They were married for 63 years and life took them to Key West, FL, Hutchinson (3 times), Topeka, Wichita, Great Bend, Dodge City, Enid, OK and Houston, TX, collecting lifelong friends along the way.

She is survived by her husband of the home. Her son, Chuck (Karen) of Macksville and daughter, Molly (Robert) Heyen of Houston, Texas. Her grandchildren, Steve (Kristin) Petty, Gary (Jessica) Petty and Nicole Petty, all of St. John. Richard Petty, Great Bend. Elizabeth (Matt) Baur, St. Paul, MN, Natalie (Reid) Stafford, Memphis, TN, Jared Heyen and Konrad Heyen, both of Houston, TX, and six Great-Grandchildren. Special friend, Mary Harrold and Hospice caregivers, Raquel, Amy, and Tonya.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved older sister, Frances Paulk.

Private family services will be held Sunday, November 29 at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Robert Heyen, officiating. Interment will be at Peace Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. Steven Robert Welty DVM, 74, passed away November 23, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born December 10, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Charles Robert “Bob” and Mildred B. (Kiner) Welty.

Steve was a 1963 graduate of Nickerson High School. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1968, and later graduated from the KSU School of Veterinarian Medicine in 1972. Steve owned and operated the South Hutchinson Animal Clinic for 20 years, and was also a third-generation farmer, farming until the end of his life. He was always exploring new hobbies, included collecting model trains, building model ships, restoring vehicles, wood burning, woodwork, wire work, pottery, painting, and coin collecting. Steve was quite the adventurer and outdoorsman. He was a member of the Mid-American Treasure Hunter’s Club, Horseless Carriage Club, Kansas Central Model Railroaders, Great Plains United Methodist Conference Disaster Relief Team, and the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

On June 6, 1968, Steve married Phoebe Jane Jones, in Hutchinson. They shared over 52 years of marriage.

He is survived by wife, Phoebe Welty of Hutchinson; children, Lisa (Michael) Riggs of Olathe, and David (Elizabeth) Welty of Abbyville; sister, Connie (Bob) Carman of Thousand Oaks, CA; and grandchildren, Gavin Riggs, Emerson Riggs, Lanae Welty, Isaac Welty, and Evan Welty.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

He loved life. Steve loved to laugh, even at himself. Above all, he was committed to his family. His dedication and love for his family is his greatest legacy.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Avenue, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Robbie Fall officiating. Friends may pay their respects from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

Bill Allen Stull, 70, of Hutchinson, died November 22, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, after a long battle with COPD. He was born June 5, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Howard and Charity (Scholtisseck) Stull.

Bill graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968, and then from Regents College. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard and later in the United States Army Reserve, retiring as a Major. Bill worked for the BNSF Railroad as a machine operator for over 40 years.&nbsp; He was a member of VFW Post 906 and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68. Bill was interested in ancestry, history, and politics. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who will be missed by his family dearly.
