Marty Meador Brown-Devaul, 80, of Hutchinson, died May 8, 2021, at her home. She was born March 2, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Elmer and Rosa (Seward) Galliart.

In 1949, Marty’s father passed away. She was adopted by her step-father, Vane C. Meador, in 1956. Marty graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1958, Hutchinson Community College in 1960, and Sterling College in 1963. She was a seventh grade English teacher for USD 308 from 1979 to 2002. Marty also worked at Dillard’s from 1985 to 2006 in the house wares department. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson.

On Dec. 30, 2006, Marty married Carlton ‘Duke’ Devaul in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 15 years together.

She is survived by: husband, Duke Devaul, Hutchinson; son, Chad Brown, Florida; son, Scott Brown, Hutchinson; daughter, Wendy Brown, San Francisco, California; and granddaughter, Kara Brown, Hutchinson.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents and her Grandma Galliart.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church, with John Chastain and Keith Neill officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
