
Lott Eugene Metzler, 82, died November 17, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born on May 15, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Nelson Alva and Belle Fordice (Stewart) Metzler, Sr.
Lott graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961, he attended Sterling College, Hutchinson Community Junior College and Kansas University with a degree in engineering. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970, and then in the United States Army Reserves from 1970 to 1972. Lott retired as a senior engineer technician for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Hutchinson Jaycees, Radical Rods and Custom, and Salt City Cruisers Car Club, where he loved to spend time with his friends and his blue 1929 Essex. In his retirement, Lott enjoyed being a volunteer for Hospice of Reno County, fishing and tinkering in his home shop. Lott cherished his time spent with his grandchildren; he supported them by attending all their activities.
On July 4, 1965, he married Mona Rose (Woodson), together they raised two daughters, Lori and Angey. They later divorced in 1984, she survives. On March 18, 1985, Lott married Evelyn Marie (Middleton) Alexander, in Hutchinson.
Lott is survived by: his wife of over 40 years, Evelyn Metzler of Hutchinson; children, Lori (Ivan) Cox of Hutchinson, Angey Metzler of Glendale, AZ, Eddie (Donna) Alexander and David Alexander, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Trey and Clancy Cox, Kirsten (Tyler) McCarthy, Seuris Hohl, Amber (Jason) Lima, Mason Alexander and Shelby Alexander, Lindsey and Trenton Davies, Isaac Alexander; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Mars Davies, Annalise and Malcom Alexander; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Nelson “Bob” Metzler, Jr.; and sisters, Phyllis Thompson and Isabelle Gray.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor David Bronke officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard. Friends are invited to bring their classic cars to the service. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
