
David Lynn Allen, 81, formerly of Hutchinson, died November 17, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born November 1, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Robert Le Moyne “Bob” and June M. (Bentley) Allen.
David graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1962, attended Hutchinson Community Junior College, and received his bachelor’s degree in business from University of Kansas. After graduating from college, he served in the Kansas Army National Guard, then worked for Mobil Oil in Kansas City and New York City. David returned to his hometown to run the family business, Hutchinson Vending Company, with his father and brother. Later, David worked for the Wichita State University Foundation.
David was a voracious lifelong reader. He also enjoyed bowling (having once bowled a perfect 300 game); golfing; watching baseball, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Fox News; and anything to do with his beloved KU Jayhawks. He bled Crimson and Blue, and was an avid KU basketball fan. David enjoyed traveling with his wife, Jeanne, as well as the occasional adult beverage (particularly a good scotch). He also shared his love of skiing and Keystone, Colorado with his family. David was of the Methodist faith.
On February 17, 1992, David married Jeanne Nevius in Keystone, CO. They shared 33 years of marriage.
David is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Maize; sons, Bryce Allen (Lori) of Aurora, CO and Drew Allen (Annie) of Fairway; stepdaughter, Jaime Schneider (Dave) of South Hutchinson; daughter, Lexia Allen of Wichita; sister, Diane Hudson (Randy); grandchildren, Max Allen, Samuel Allen, Grady Allen, Zoey Allen, and Oliver Allen; step-grandchildren, Jayden McConnell and Tialyn McConnell; step-great-grandchildren, Amias McConnell and Violeta McConnell; sister-in-law, Cynthia Allen; and Bryce and Drew’s mother, Gretchen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mary Nell Allen; and brother, Jeff Allen.
A Celebration of Life service is planned and will be announced at a later date. Friends are invited to sign his memorial book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
