Barbara Hoglund, 83, formerly of Hutchinson, loving wife and mother of two daughters, passed away October 11, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born June 6, 1938, in Russell, to Sarah Edith Palmer and Hadley Palmer.
Barbara began her teaching career in Great Bend, and finished her career teaching business classes at Hutchinson Community College (HCC) and later as the counselor at HCC, retiring with over 33 years of service. In her tenure at HCC, Barbara married another business faculty member, Vern Hoglund.
Barbara is survived by: husband, Vern Hoglund of Spring, TX: daughters, Kirsten (Charles) Schutt and Carrie (Bradley) Hoglund-Carey, both of Houston; and grandchildren, Ethan Schutt, Elizabeth Schutt, Payton Carey, Gracie Carey, and Sailor Carey.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Edith Palmer.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Drive, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Dr. J. Ted Blakley officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2021, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, and from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday at the church.
