Samuel “Sam” Crawford Cave, 75, passed away October 9, 2021, at his home. He was born April 1, 1946, in Enterprise, AL, to Clifford Crawford and Ruth (Thompson) Cave.
Sam graduated from Waggener High School, Louisville, KY, and the local technical college. He retired from Hercules, Inc, a resin plant. Sam enjoyed electronics, small engine repair. gardening, and loved to draw. He especially loved studying his Bible, and sharing the gospel with others. He also gave devotionals in retirement communities and served on his local mission field. Sam was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
On October 25, 1980, he married Sheila Johnson, in Hattiesburg, MS. They shared almost 41 years of marriage.
Sam is survived by: wife, Sheila of Hutchinson; children, Lisa Churchill of Mayflower, AR, Samuel Cave, Jr. (Amy), and Jessica Cave, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Samuel Cave III, James Cave, Zachary Cave, Rebeka McKeehan (Dylan), and Justin Guttery; and great-grandson, Elijah McKeehan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Malone.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2021, at Eastside Cemetery, 500 South Cleveland Street, Hutchinson, with Pastor Richard Haley officiating. Friends may pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. The graveside service will be livestreamed on the Riverside Baptist Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RBCHutch/ .
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the future at the church.
