&nbsp; Jean Regier, 85, of McPherson, passed away at 1:55 a.m., Saturday, October 2nd, peacefully, at Heartland Haven, Inman. Jean was born in Larned, on July 26, 1936, a daughter of Naomi Valentine (Thorp) and Charles Edward Bartley. Jean attended the Great Bend grade schools and graduated from Great Bend High School, Great Bend. She then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and she received her Degree in Education. Jean Bartley was united in marriage to Jerome K. Regier on June 12, 1960 at Great Bend. The young couple established their first home together in Moses Lake, Washington while Jerome was in the Air Force. Following Jerome's discharge they then moved to McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Rick and Bart. Jerome died on June 26, 2014. Jean was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. After the boys were in school, she was a substitute teacher in McPherson County, was an assistant to her husband Jerome, and office manager at Countryside Animal Clinic. After they sold the clinic, she worked partime for McPherson College and Dillon's. Jean loved her pets with a special passion and she shared that with her kids and grandkids. She loved tailgating at all the K-State games, and cheering on the wildcats! She also had a love for cooking and fixed Sunday dinners almost every week! Her specialty was fried chicken! Zella Marie (Kornelson) Heim, 87, of Hutchinson, died October 1, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born October 29, 1933, in Hutchinson, to William and Rosella (Warkentin) Kornelson.

Zella was a graduate of Inman High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Conklin Cars for 52 years. Zella loved to spend time at the lake and in her retirement, she spent a lot of time volunteering. She attended Park Place Christian Church in Hutchinson.

On March 6, 1954, Zella married Walter L. Heim, in Hutchinson. They shared 42 years together before he passed away on October 18, 1996.

She is survived by: daughter, Terri Lee (Mike), Hutchinson; son, Mike Heim (Brenda), Hutchinson; daughter, Amy Clarke (Stephen), Las Vegas; grandchildren, Ryan, Eric, and Adam Lee, Crystal Most, Trent Heim, Madison and Wyatt Clarke; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Chase, Alex, Logan, Morgan, Olivia, and Abigail; and siblings, Coralou Cooprider, Ralph Kornelson, and Karen Kornelson.

Zella was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Walter Heim; and brother, Robert Kornelson.

Lena Helmuth, 83, of Hutchinson,&nbsp; died October 3, 2021, at Mennonite Friendship Communities.&nbsp; She was born January 12, 1938, in Hutchinson,&nbsp; the daughter of Levi E. and Anna (Keim) Helmuth.&nbsp;

Jackson Cole Schrader passed away September 28, 2021. 

He was born February 1, 2002, in Salina, Kansas to Matthew and Ami (Parker) Schrader. He attended McPherson, Kansas public schools and graduated as valedictorian of his class in 2020. Jackson was a compassionate, funny and intelligent son, brother, and friend who will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved him. He was musically gifted and played the saxophone in the marching and symphonic bands. He played the guitar in jazz band and in the pit orchestra for high school musicals. He also performed in many guitar recitals for the Kennedy Guitar Studio and was a member of a guitar trio that won their category in the Oklahoma City Guitar Festival in 2018. Jackson played tennis in high school and was part of the undefeated 2018 state championship team. He and his partner, Rhett Edmonson, placed 10th in doubles and that placement helped clinch the state title. He also participated in cross country and soccer. Jackson had the goal of becoming a psychiatrist and attended his freshman year of college at Kansas State University then transferred in the Fall of 2021 to begin his sophomore year at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was drawn to Case Western by its cultural and academic opportunities and left a positive imprint on other students and faculty in his short time there. Jackson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McPherson and played guitar regularly with the praise band for years. He also attended youth group and participated in the church’s SERVE days focused on community service. Jackson truly loved his two dogs, Tucker and Jet, and enjoyed spending time with them. Jackson is survived by his parents, Matthew and Ami Schrader of McPherson, Kansas and his brother, Nolan Schrader of Newton, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. The visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of McPherson on Tuesday, October 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6th at the church. Robert “Bob” Louis Swan, 96, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at The Cedars Assisted Living Facility, McPherson. Bob was born on June 5, 1925, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Elizabeth (Barton) Swan. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1943. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and served during WWII. On July 15, 1944, Bob was united in marriage to Iris K. Coggeshall in Rogers Park, IL. She preceded him in death on September 3, 2010. He married Lena (Fast) Gookin in 2012, and she passed away on January 16, 2020. Bob worked at The Coleman Company in Wichita where he learned the tool &amp; die trade. He then went to work for Nibarger Tool Service in Wichita. In 1975, Bob took a job in McPherson at Midwest Industries, where he was a tool &amp; die maker, retiring in 1990. For several years following retirement, he continued part-time employment at Midwest Industries. He was a member of Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church, Galva. Survivors include: four children, Michael Swan of Las Vegas, NV, Marla Frisby of Gladstone, MO, Janet White (Crayton) of Trimble, MO, and Joy Schellenger (Ray) of Paris, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Rose was born in Landstuhl-Pfalz, Germany on November 17, 1957, a daughter of Shirley Mae (Burchfield) and Frank Edmund Wade. Rose attended Halstead Elementary in Copperas Cove, Texas, and graduated from Copperas Cove High School, in 1976. She then attended Brown Mackie Business College where she received her degree in Business and Computer Science. She then attended Baylor University, Waco, Texas where she received her Masters Degree in Accounting. She was a member of First Baptist Church Coppersas Cove, TX, where she was raised and Baptized. Through the years, Rose was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She later worked as a bartender for several different places in Salina and McPherson, worked for Nations Pizza, Tony's Pizza, and Websco as a manager, all of Salina. She also worked for Cartridge King as the Distribution Supervisor, Van Guard Plastics as a Executive Assistant, Dillon's Grocery as overnight stocking. Rose was a volunteer for Relay For Life. She enjoyed her family and friends, riding motorcycles, loved all animals, was a veracious reader, and loved going to concerts. Valetta Jewell “Vickie” Sharp, 95, died September 30, 2021, at Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, Fort Worth, TX.  She was born May 27, 1926, on the family farm at Sylvia, to Herman and Laura (Lang) Moeckel.

Vickie graduated from Sylvia Rural High School in 1944, and Emporia State Teacher’s College in 1948.   She loved farm life, wheat harvest.  Vickie worked as a librarian in a number of states, and was the original librarian for the Johnson County Library.  She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 25 years of service.

On July 18, 1948, she married Claude Eugene Sharp, in Sylvia.  He died February 10, 2014, after sharing almost 66 years of marriage.

Vickie is survived by:  two loving children and their families, and a host of extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W 4th Ave, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Kristine Lee Hoyer, 69, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, KS. She worked in housekeeping at several hotels. Kristine was born on February 16, 1952, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Norman Allen and Lila Lee (Bowers) Becker. She graduated from McPherson High School. She was united in marriage to Norbert E. Hoyer in Newton, KS. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2003. In addition to living in McPherson, Kristine also lived in Mississippi and Virginia. She loved cooking and baking. Other enjoyments included traveling, shopping (especially at Walmart and Dillons), gardening, and watching soap operas. She loved all animals, and her favorites included dogs and cats. Ralph Edward Snyder, 81, of Hutchinson, passed away September 30, 2021, at Reflection Living. He was born March 13, 1940, in El Dorado, to Clarence R. and Lois M. (Fenley) Snyder.

Ralph graduated from El Dorado High School and Butler County Community College.

On February 6, 1960, he married Gloria Ann Surber, in Miami, OK. They shared 58 years of marriage before her death on July 8, 2018.

Ralph and Gloria moved to Hutchinson in 1973, where he became manager of Big M Truck Stop. Ralph then became an insurance agent for Combined Insurance for many years. In 1995, they moved to the Yankee Run community at Kanopolis Lake, where they enjoyed living for over 20 years. An animal lover, Ralph enjoyed fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed playing the banjo along with other various instruments.

Ralph is survived by: daughter, Cindy Ketchum and husband, Tim; son, Jeff Snyder, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, McKayla Hill and husband, Dylan, of Abbyville, Catrina Maskil and husband, Steve of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Cienna, and Carson Maskil; siblings, Shirley Patton, Brian Snyder and wife Shirley, Karla Knight, all of El Dorado; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Gloria.

Nicholas ‘Nick’ Ray Clapper, Sr., 83, passed away September 28, 2021, at Hospital District 1 of Rice County, Lyons.  He was born June 21, 1938, in Dodge City, to Joseph L. and Wava L. (Record) Clapper.

Nick was employed by Rainbow Bakery, Hutchinson, as a bakery confectioner, retiring with over 30 years of service.  He enjoyed playing billiards and cards.  Nick was an avid television viewer of Western movies and shows, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.  In his early years, he enjoyed reading, especially Western stories.

On January 8, 1958, Nick married Lenora Boyles, in Guymon, OK.  They shared over 55 years of marriage, prior to her death on December 14, 2013.

He is survived by:  children, Tyra (Russell) Marshall of Hutchinson, Charles Clapper of Lyons, and Christine Gonzalez of Lyons; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Shirley Baker of Hoxie, David Clapper of Hoxie, and Dennis Clapper of Texas.

Nick was preceded in death by:  his parents; wife, Lenora Clapper; son, Nicholas Clapper, Jr.; and brother, Earl Clapper.

Elizabeth “Jo” McRae was born April 1, 1935, on the family farm south of Herington, KS. She passed away on September 29, 2021, at Diversicare of Council Grove. She was the youngest daughter of Thomas McRae, Jr and Vera “Erma” (VonRohr) McRae.

Jo was a graduate of Herington High School and graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in Business Management. She worked several jobs in her lifetime to include real estate, banking and office manager for United Farm Agency in Kansas City. Besides several years in Kansas City, Jo never left the farm until she moved into Diversicare of Council Grove with her sister. Her and her sister Becky, loved to travel the country and parts of Canada, chasing their family genealogy. She also loved to spend time with family and friends especially her sister.

Jo is survived by her sister Becky of Council Grove and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. 

Family will host friends at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Herington October 6, 2021, from 10:00 till the service starts at 11:00. Fay Ann McMurray, 93, of Haven, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at her home.  She was born October 20, 1927 in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Verteenes and Jennie (Bruce) Brunk.

Fay graduated from McPherson High School with the class of 1945.

She was a member of the Congregational Church,  Haven, KS.  She was very active in the church where she served on the board and sang in the choir.  Fay also volunteered at the Haven Food Bank and was a member of the Haven La Cadena Club for over 60 years

Fay worked for Farmers Alliance in McPherson before marrying Rex.  She then worked for Carey Salt in Hutchinson before starting her family.  Once her children were in school, she went on to work for McMurray Accounting in Hutchinson for 53 years.

She was united in marriage to Rex Dale McMurray on June 6, 1952 in McPherson, Kansas.

Fay is survived by her children, Tod McMurray of Haven, and Denise (Bobby) Vanley of Haven; nephew, Sheldon (Pam) Brunk of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; and niece, Michelle (John) Limon of Longmont, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Bruce and Gib Brunk; and nephews, Denny and Tim Brunk.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Laurel Cemetery with Pastor Janet Sutter officiating. Judith K. Janzen 80, died October 1, 2021 at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater. She was born February 9, 1941 in Newton, to Paul and Blanche (Rosfeld) Regier.&nbsp; On June 10, 1960 she married Robert Janzen and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2005.

Judy was a long time active member of the Grace Hill Mennonite Church.&nbsp; She retired from Prairie View in Newton after 30 years where she worked as a continuing education coordinator.

Judy enjoyed her country home where she cared for many animals through the years and especially enjoyed her cats. She liked to spend time outside tending flowers and gardens and found great joy mowing her acreage. &nbsp;Assembling and sewing quilts was also an enjoyable pastime, and she shared many of her quilting creations with her family and friends on special occasions.&nbsp; Her greatest joy was her family and she looked forward to spending time with her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Jodi Janzen; grandchildren Grant Janzen and his fiancé Olivia Eck and Madison (Jordan) Frederick.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Jeffery Janzen and sister Ruby Kurr.

Patrick B. Sturgeon 80, died September 30, 2021 at NMC Health Newton.&nbsp; He was born August 1, 1941 in Hutchinson, to John and Jean “Bunny” (Mason) Sturgeon.&nbsp; On January 14, 1961 he married Betty Daily in Newton and she survives of the home.

Pat was retired from the BNSF railroad in 2014 where he was a train conductor.

He greatly enjoyed learning about and building computers and was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan.&nbsp; Patrick’s greatest joy in life was his family and grandchildren. He looked forward to time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; sons Bob (Kim) Sturgeon and Jeffery (Julianne) Sturgeon; daughter Lori (Rick) Arellano; sister Ann (LeRoy) Younger; Grandchildren Hayley (Jake) Sturgeon; Baylee Beardslee; Trevor Sturgeon; Grant Sturgeon; Tiffany (Rob) Gomez; Cody Arellano; Shelby (Colby) Arellano; Tanner Arellano; Great Grandchildren Parker Arellano and Josie Lee Paolinetti.

Penny Rae Farris, age 68 and a resident of Marquette, died Sunday September 26th, 2021. Penny was born on June 2nd, 1953 in Iola, KS to Richard Elvin Gerdsen and Blanche Irene (Marsh)Rose. 

She and her older brother, Richard Leon Gerdsen, attended high school in Lakin Kansas. Later Penny became a long-time resident of the Wichita&nbsp; area where she worked several years in the air craft industry and gave birth to her daughters Kali Saleen Stourhaug(1976) and Tia Thayer Carter(1978).  Later Penny became step-mother to Toni Michelle Everett and adopted Derek Dwight Sanderson &amp; Kylie Raelynn Sanderson. 

In 1993 Penny began her more than 25 years of working for the United States Postal Service, becoming a career employee in 2004, as Post Master in Murdock. After meeting Don, Penny took the Post Master Position in Marquette where she was still working. Penny was a very loyal and dedicated employee which often times led her to travel to countless office to cover and train employees in. 

In 2012, Penny met her husband Donald Lee Farris, they were married July 26th, 2019. When Penny met Don she welcomed his sons Donald Lee Dubois Farris and Nicholas Farris, along with their wives and children into her family as well.Together Penny and Don loved to go camping and to visit friends and family. Penny was an avid collector of Wizard Oz Memorabilia and would take trips to Florida to take in all the Disney World parks every chance that she could.  Penny was very proud of her family, especially all of her grand children and loved to tell anyone about them.

She is survived by her husband Don Farris; mother Blanche Rose; brother Richard Leon Gerdsen (Diane), four of her children, Kali Storhaug (Vincent) of Melbourne, FL, Tia Carter (Mark) of Jennings, Derek Sanderson (Kim) of Palmer, AK and Toni Everett of Wichita; step sons, Donald Lee Dubois Farris (Justine) and Nicholas Farris (Rachel), twenty-two grandchildren, three great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her Father Richard Elvin Gerdsen and her daughter Kylie Sanderson. 

Family will be receiving friends and family Thursday October 7th from 6-8pm at Crick-Christians Funeral Home.

When Penny met Don she welcomed his sons Donald Lee Dubois Farris and Nicholas Farris, along with their wives and children into her family as well.Together Penny and Don loved to go camping and to visit friends and family. Penny was an avid collector of Wizard Oz Memorabilia and would take trips to Florida to take in all the Disney World parks every chance that she could. Penny was very proud of her family, especially all of her grand children and loved to tell anyone about them.She is survived by her husband Don Farris; mother Blanche Rose; brother Richard Leon Gerdsen (Diane), four of her children, Kali Storhaug (Vincent) of Melbourne, FL, Tia Carter (Mark) of Jennings, Derek Sanderson (Kim) of Palmer, AK and Toni Everett of Wichita; step sons, Donald Lee Dubois Farris (Justine) and Nicholas Farris (Rachel), twenty-two grandchildren, three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Father Richard Elvin Gerdsen and her daughter Kylie Sanderson. Family will be receiving friends and family Thursday October 7th from 6-8pm at Crick-Christians Funeral Home. Larry "Max" Moss, 79, of Hutchinson, died September 29, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society, Lyons.&nbsp; He was born November 10, 1941, in Lyons, to Lloyd E. and Evelyn E. (Nichols) Moss.

Max graduated from Lyons High School in 1959.&nbsp; He worked for 27 years at Jimmies Body Shop, Lyons, and most recently, worked at Elliott Mortuary as a funeral assistant.&nbsp; Max volunteered for the Lyons Fire Department for over 17 years, and was a member of Countryside Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

On June 10, 1961, he married Loretta J. McMullen, in Lyons.&nbsp; They shared 60 years of marriage.

Max is survived by:&nbsp; his bride, Loretta of Hutchinson; children, Steven Moss (Kim) of Navarre, FL, Tamra Moore (Scott) of Port Arthur, TX, and Gregory Moss (Jennifer) of Lyons; brother-in-law, Richard Ewing of Independence, MO; ten grandchildren, Keith Jarman, Simone Ates (Donnie), Audrey Warnecke (Laren), Amber Lawrence (Jonathan), Timmy Moss, Ashlee Tingle, Natalee Moss, Loreta Sneath; and nine great-grandchildren, Aiden Ates, Braelyn Warnecke, Avery Warnecke, Cardyn Warnecke, Sara Lawrence, Hailey Lawrence, Paisley Lawrence and one on the way.

Jerry Edward Kerschenske, age 71, passed away at Stormont Vail hospital in Topeka, KS on Monday, September 27, 2021. 

He was born in Muscatine, IA January 19, 1950, the son of Harold Edward and Rebecca Belle (Hillier) Kerschenske. Jerry married Tina Marie Carlisle on June 9, 1990 in Carbondale KS. Jerry served four years as a reserve officer for the city of Topeka, KS. He then served one year as a police officer for Burlingame, KS and four years in Scranton KS. Later he became an extradition officer for six years in Manchester, TN., and then resided in Stafford, KS serving as a police officer for thirteen years. Jerry is survived by his wife Tina; sons, Christopher (Sara) Kerschenske, Jason (Tina) Kerschenske, Dr. Jacob (Hanna) Kerschenske DC; Brothers, John Egly, Preston Chenowith, Dwight W. West Jr.; grandkids, Nathaniel Kerschenske, Colby Kerschenske, Maggie Glaves, Ivan Kerschenske, Tori Kerschenske, Brody Kerschenske. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; sister, Janis Caulkins; and a grandchild in heaven.

LaDonna Kay Lesh, 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at South Wind Home. Kay fought a courageous battle with cancer but is now reunited with her loving husband Rodney who passed away just months ago. Kay was so happy she was able to meet her new great grandson Myles Lee Warden before she passed. Kay was born to Howard E. Moyer and Lorraine (Cowden) Moyer on May 4th, 1939 in Enid, Oklahoma. She married Rodney Lesh on December 23rd, 1961 and they remained married for over 59 years. Kay graduated from Pratt High School in 1957 and then attended Kansas State University, graduating in 1961. She received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics, was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society. Kay had many interesting jobs during her life. Her first job was working as a Home Economist for the Kansas State Board of Agriculture. She then became the Director of the Kansas Dairy Council. Later she earned her Realtor license and went on to receive her Brokers license. This proved to be very useful when she and Rodney acquired a number of rental homes over the years, which became a business known as Lesh Rentals. Kay was very active in her community. She was a past President of Jaycee Jaynes and served on the Pratt zoning committee. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter F, American Association of University Women, Crimson Red Hat Club, First United Methodist Church and Naomi Guild, and Contributive Cuisine Club. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at Pratt Regional Medical Center for over 18 years. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and traveling the world with her late husband Rodney - together they visited 43 different countries. However, Kay said the trips she enjoyed the most always included her grandchildren. Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Lesh; her parents, Howard and Lorraine Moyer; and her brother, Larry Moyer. Kay is survived by her daughters, Stephanie A. (Steve) Sewell of Overland Park, KS and Susan L. (Chris) Mayberry of Pratt; sister, Vicky Lorentz of Fredonia; and brother-in-law, Gregg Lesh of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Sydney (Blaine) Warden of Leawood, KS, Shannon Sewell of Overland Park, Thomas Mayberry of Pratt, and Madison (Blade) Nicholas of Kansas City; great-grandson, Myles Lee Warden of Leawood, KS; niece, Kerri Lesh; nephews, Andrew (Mary) Lesh, Rick Lorentz, Jay Lorentz, Joel Lorentz and Ryan Lorentz. Luella’s life began on May 15, 1926, the daughter of James E. and Maude A. (Brenner) Long in rural Butler County. She attended Potwin Schools and married Frank Grant Smith on May 15, 1942, at the Butler County Courthouse in El Dorado. She was homemaker and worked with her husband doing carpentry. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Potwin Christian Church and loved working with her hands sewing, macrame, crafts, leather working, gardening, reupholstery, canning, pottery and crocheting.

Her loving family includes her daughter, Marsha (Mike) Baird of Potwin; five grandchildren, Corey (Beth) Smith, Scott (Becky) Baird, Casey (Traci) Smith, Kim (Matt) Zamora, Michelle (Eric) Mincks; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ott Smith Zaffarano of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 2007; two sons, Rodney (Betty) Smith and Olin Smith; siblings, Elbert, Elvin, and Roland Long and Bonnie Fowler. Luella passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the age of 95 years old. A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.

Ruth Hill, 98, of Haven, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Wheatlands Nursing Home in Kingman.

Ruth was born January 10, 1923, to Virgil and Florence (Ralph) Norton in rural Haven.&nbsp; She attended Highland, Savage and Evening Star grade schools and graduated from Haven High School in 1940.&nbsp; Ruth and Duane Hill became high school sweethearts and were married August 23, 1942.&nbsp; When Duane was drafted into the Army in 1944, they moved to Camp Wolters, TX and later moved to the family farm east of Haven.&nbsp;

Ruth worked as a production worker/office manager at Boeing Company, Wichita and Bookkeeper/Secretary at Kincaid Equipment, Haven.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing bridge, watching sporting events especially the Shockers, KC Chiefs and KC Royals, was an avid golfer, and loved to entertain and spend time with her family and friends.&nbsp; She was a fabulous cook and was known for her yummy banana pies and tins of caramels that she gave to family and friends at Christmas. &nbsp;&nbsp;She was a member of the Haven Methodist Church.

Survivors include son, Jim (Connie) , Kingman; daughter, Judy (Hill) Grame (Daryl), Platte City, MO; two grandsons, Brandon Hill, Overland Park; Bill Ellithorpe (Courtney), Kingman; four granddaughters, Tami (Hill) Harney (Aaron) Broomfield, CO; Megan (Ellithorpe) Pope (Jonathan), Little Rock, AR; &nbsp;Janel (Grame) Zion (Jeff), Camden Point, MO; Stacy (Grame) Zahn (Ed), Lenexa; great-grandchildren, Spencer Ellithorpe, Camryn Hardgrave, Anderson Pope, Alyssa Zion, Katie Lomax (John), Whitley and Avery Zahn; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Duane who died in February, 2000; her parents; three brothers, Phillip Norton, Duane Norton, Bill Norton and two sisters, Kathleen Brenzikofer and Wanda Simons.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2021 at Haven United Methodist Church, Haven.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Laurel Cemetery.&nbsp; Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 3, at Ott Funeral Home.&nbsp; Family will not be present and the casket will be closed.

Ruth Hill, 98, of Haven, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Wheatlands Nursing Home in Kingman.Ruth was born January 10, 1923, to Virgil and Florence (Ralph) Norton in rural Haven.&nbsp; She attended Highland, Savage and Evening Star grade schools and graduated from Haven High School in 1940.&nbsp; Ruth and Duane Hill became high school sweethearts and were married August 23, 1942.&nbsp; When Duane was drafted into the Army in 1944, they moved to Camp Wolters, TX and later moved to the family farm east of Haven.&nbsp;Ruth worked as a production worker/office manager at Boeing Company, Wichita and Bookkeeper/Secretary at Kincaid Equipment, Haven.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing bridge, watching sporting events especially the Shockers, KC Chiefs and KC Royals, was an avid golfer, and loved to entertain and spend time with her family and friends.&nbsp; She was a fabulous cook and was known for her yummy banana pies and tins of caramels that she gave to family and friends at Christmas. &nbsp;&nbsp;She was a member of the Haven Methodist Church.Survivors include son, Jim (Connie) , Kingman; daughter, Judy (Hill) Grame (Daryl), Platte City, MO; two grandsons, Brandon Hill, Overland Park; Bill Ellithorpe (Courtney), Kingman; four granddaughters, Tami (Hill) Harney (Aaron) Broomfield, CO; Megan (Ellithorpe) Pope (Jonathan), Little Rock, AR; &nbsp;Janel (Grame) Zion (Jeff), Camden Point, MO; Stacy (Grame) Zahn (Ed), Lenexa; great-grandchildren, Spencer Ellithorpe, Camryn Hardgrave, Anderson Pope, Alyssa Zion, Katie Lomax (John), Whitley and Avery Zahn; and many nieces and nephews.Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Duane who died in February, 2000; her parents; three brothers, Phillip Norton, Duane Norton, Bill Norton and two sisters, Kathleen Brenzikofer and Wanda Simons.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2021 at Haven United Methodist Church, Haven.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Laurel Cemetery.&nbsp; Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 3, at Ott Funeral Home.&nbsp; Family will not be present and the casket will be closed.
