Mrs. Helen Marie Parker,&nbsp; age 103, of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021.&nbsp; She was born on September 7, 1918 in Arkansas City, a daughter of the late Richard Jack and Jessie Irene Mayfield.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Charles Parker; four sons, Robert Wellke, Ralph Wellke, Charles Parker and Roy Parker; and one daughter, Kay Noble.

Helen was a dedicated member of the Salvation Army Church and a homemaker.&nbsp; Helen enjoyed crocheting hundred of beautiful afghans for her family and donating many to nursing homes.&nbsp; She truly cherished spending quality time with her family.&nbsp; She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman.&nbsp; We will miss her everyday.

Helen is survived by two daughters and one son,&nbsp; Irene Vincent ( Gary) of Hutchinson,&nbsp; Joe Parker ( Ila) of Pahrump, NV and Marie Cheney ( Rick) of San Luis Obispo, CA.&nbsp; She also leaves numerous other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

A visitation will be at 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., September 28, 2021, at Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 North Main Street, Hutchinson.

John Scott Clipper Jr., May 5, 1984 – September 6, 2021

He was born in Stockton, California and lived there most of his life, he also lived in Nevada and Utah. He moved to Newton, 6 years ago.

Scott last worked as a truck driver, he also worked in construction. He loved building things, traveling, riding motorcycles and just spending time with his wife and kids. He was truly an amazing, loving and kind person.

He was preceded in death by his mom Pamela Clipper, dad Scott Clipper, and sister Jennifer Ivey. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Margaret Jacqueline “Jacquie” Timken, loving wife and mother of two, went home to be with the Lord September 14, 2021, at the age of 73. She was born June 28, 1948, in Hays, to Thomas “Gene” and Nina (Cummings) Sims.

Jacquie graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in teaching.&nbsp; While attending Fort Hays State, she met Steve Timken and they were married on January 25, 1969.&nbsp; They raised two sons, Brian and Kevin, and fostered several children, including two girls, Stacy and Genny.

Jacquie had a passion for teaching children to read, expressed in her career of teaching at Lincoln elementary school, and St. Teresa’s and Holy Cross Catholic Schools. She had a love for reading, Bible study, and investing in other people. Jacquie cared for her grandchildren, invested in her children’s lives, and was always willing to make a new friend.

Jacquie is survived by: her husband, Steve of the home; sons Brian Timken (Kaycee) of Castle Rock, CO, Kevin Timken (Angie) of Gardner; brother, Don Sims (Carmen) of Chautauqua; sister, Sandy Yount of Sublette; grandchildren, Caden, Connor, Madison, Abby, Noah, Caleb, and Luke Timken; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Nina Sims, and brother-in-law, Bill Yount.

Mary Ellen (Miller) Culp, 94, died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas. She was born on December 30, 1926 to Warren Miller and Viola (Miller) Miller in Elkhart County near Goshen, Indiana. She was the second of six children.

Mary Ellen married the love of her life, John Henry Culp, on March 2, 1947 in Millersburg, Indiana and they were married for almost 71 years before his death. They moved to Hesston, in 1948. They had four children. Mary was a homemaker until the children were in high school and then was employed outside of the home. She worked for TEC (Travel Equipment Company) as the receptionist and office manager. She then worked for an attorney’s office in Newton as a secretary. Lastly, she worked for Hesston Corporation for 16 years as a shipping clerk and then as an accounting clerk. She and John retired in 1991.

Mary had a lifelong passion for flowers and enjoyed growing, picking, and arranging flowers for herself and others. In later years she loved walking through all four seasons of Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in Hesston and when she could no longer walk, the children would take her around the path in her wheelchair. Her last outing was a ride through the Schowalter Villa Cottage flower beds, exclaiming over the beautiful colors of the flowers, plants, and the butterflies that fluttered around her.

Over the years, Mary and John traveled and camped their way through 47 states, 3 provinces of Canada, and into Mexico. They started their love of travel and hiking at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp near Divide, Colorado. They instilled in their children and granddaughters the respect and caring of nature and all living creatures, great and small.

She is survived by son David (Jennifer) Culp of Orange County, California; daughters Sue (Don) Gering of Hesston and Anita Culp of Bel Aire; son Paul (Mary) Culp of Hesston; and granddaughters Shannon Gering (Christopher Vine) of Carbondale, Illinois and Alexandrea (Ernie) Mullenax of Tehachapi, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and all her siblings: Luella Eash, Wilbur Miller, Ronald Miller, Miriam Black and Roy Miller. Before her sisters’ deaths the sisters collaborated on a memoir of their childhood memories.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Hesston Mennonite Church at 309 S. Main Street in Hesston. A slide show and recorded piano prelude by Anita Culp will start at 2:30. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. and after the service. Masks are required.&nbsp; A private burial will be at a later date in East Lawn Cemetery.

Ellen L. Boyle, 97, died Sept. 13, 2021 at her home in Wichita.

She was born Jan. 21, 1924, at Spivey,&nbsp; the daughter of Joe and Alberta Wilson Shultz.

A longtime Spivey resident moving to Wichita in 2008, she was a homemaker.

Ellen was a member of the County Acres Baptist Church, Wichita.

On Aug. 18, 1944, she married Rex Boyle at Hutchinson; he died Oct. 5, 2016.&nbsp; Survivors include a son Max and his wife Jan; daughter Rebecca Fryar and her husband Ken; grandchildren Jennifer Alexander and Mark Boyle; and four great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by a son Steve; and sisters Vera Bluejacket and Edie Beth Hinderliter.

Leroy William "Lee" Knittig 82, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:55 a.m., Wednesday, September 15th, 2021 at McPherson Hospital.

Leroy was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 14, 1939, a son of Eleanor (Fuchs) and Bernard Knittig.

Leroy attended Assumption Catholic school and graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School, St. Louis, Missouri.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Leroy served in the Missouri National Guard.

Leroy William Knittig was united in marriage to Florence Barbara Kraft on July 11, 1964 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Louis, Missouri. The young couple established their first home together in St. Louis. They were blessed with the birth of four children, three daughters, and a son, Valerie, Janice, Gail and Nicholas. In 1977 the family moved to Canton, Kansas.

Through the years Leroy worked as a tow truck driver - mechanic for Brouk - Ziegler Motor Company in Arnold, Missouri. After moving to McPherson he began working for Cargill in the maintenance department and retired from Orscheln.

Leroy was a member of the McPherson Saddle Club. Leroy enjoyed shooting sports, anything to do with the St. Louis Cardinals or St. Louis Blues, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 57 years, Barbara Knittig, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Valerie Cuthbertson and husband Dale, of Canton, Kansas, Janice Holderness and husband Jim, of Canton, Kansas, Gail Knittig, of Newton, Kansas, and Nicholas Knittig, of Seagoville, Texas; his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald Knittig.

Visitation and rosary will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. with rosary staring at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Walter Emmett Norman was born July 22, 1933 northeast of Pryor, Oklahoma in Mayes County, Oklahoma. He was the oldest child, and only son of Gaylord and Lorene "Frields" Norman. His father was a farmer who died young at 33, leaving Lorene with a boy and three daughters, Elizabeth Ann, Doris Jean, and Velma Sue, to raise.

Lorene remarried Gilbert Brown a few years later and two more sisters, Jane Lorene and Mary Alice, were born. The family farmed and the children attended elementary school in the Welch, Hazel and Osage school districts, then all of them attended and graduated from Pryor High School. The family added dairying to their farming operations at the time Walter began high school. The family worked long, hard hours farming, gardening, and milking cows during those years. Walter played and loved the sport of baseball, and he graduated in May, 1951.

The Korean War was in the second year in 1951. Walter enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 1, 1951. He served in the Pacific theater in Japan, Korea, and in Alaska as an airman assigned to Patrol Squadron 42. He was honorably discharged on April 24, 1954.

Walter worked four years at Douglas Aircraft Company, married Laura Sandrock, and two daughters were born to them, Ruth Ann and Betty Jeanne Norman. The marriage ended in divorce six years later. Four years later, he married the greatest love of his life, the former Betty Gossen Carlson. He became the step-father of her children, Dana Deon and Rahn William Carlson.

Walter joined the Wichita, Kansas Police Department on October 1, 1959. He served as a Patrolman, Detective, and later as a Sergeant and Lieutenant in Patrol. He retired from police work August 1, 1980. He finished Graduate School at Wichita State University, and joined the Cessna Aircraft Company, January, 1981, at Wichita, Kansas as a Senior Industrial Engineer and enjoyed a rewarding second career. Walter retired the last time on April 1, 2000, to spend his life traveling with his beloved wife, spending time with Grand-Children, and living in the Marion County Lake Community near Marion, Kansas.

Anita married Richard Edward Harrold on September 3, 1966 in Eskridge, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2003. Anita graduated from Eskridge High School in 1963. She then attended Emporia State University where she earned her Bachelor's in Business Education. She worked as a legal secretary. She attended Turon Community Church and volunteered for Camp Hope. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and taking care of her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Jason (Carrie) Harrold of Pratt; brothers, Roger (Cindy) Manz of Eskridge and Terry (Carol) Manz of Frisco, Texas; and granddaughters, Trystan Harrold and Shiloh Harrold. Alita graduated from Newton High School. She married Alex Sanchez, and to this union was born two sons, Mitrio Sanchez of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and Dan Sanchez of Melvern. She later married Roger Zumbrun, and to this union was born a son, Jacob Zumbrun of Denver, Colorado. Alita was preceded in death by her parents Tony and Colleen, and her life partner Alex Sanchez. Marjorie R. (Goering) Stucky was born to Jonathan J. and Katie E. (Zerger) Goering on April 17, 1929 at the McPherson County Hospital, McPherson.&nbsp; She grew up on a farm ½ mile east of the Eden Church.&nbsp; She was number 9 in a family of twelve – four girls and eight boys – all of them living to adulthood.&nbsp; She died on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Moundridge, Kansas.

After attending Pioneer Grade School for eight years, she graduated from Moundridge High School in 1947, and then went to Bethel College for one year and taught grades 1 – 4 at King City Grade School in Elyria for one year.

Marjorie was baptized in 1945 and joined Eden Mennonite Church, where she was a member all her life and was very involved with various church activities and roles.&nbsp; She married Marvin Stucky on June 13, 1948 and they made their home in Elyria, where Marvin worked at C.D. Kaufman’s Service Station.&nbsp; After the Mid-Kansas Coop bought the station, he worked for them for 35 years.&nbsp; After Marvin retired in 1987, they spent the school year at AMBS in Elkhart, Indiana, doing volunteer work at the seminary.&nbsp; In 1988, they built a duplex in Pine Village and retired there doing many volunteer jobs, such as yard work and painting homes and rooms when they changed residents.

Four children were born to them: Marvetta, Murray, Max and Morris. They all attended Elyria Grade School and graduated from Moundridge High School.&nbsp; Marvetta went to Beauty School and the boys all graduated from various colleges.&nbsp; They bought an RV and traveled to many states in the U.S. and visited with Reuben Goerings in Phoenix and Harvey Goerings in Columbus, Ohio, and many other places.

Marjorie’s hobbies were sewing and piecing quilts, which her mother taught her at an early age.&nbsp; She also loved to quilt, and hurried home from school when her mother had a quilting, so she could put some stiches into the quilt.

For several years, she cleaned the Elyria Grade School and then worked at the Eden Church Office for thirteen years.&nbsp; She was Pastor Walt Neufeld’s church office secretary.

After her grandchildren were born, she spent several days taking care of them.&nbsp; There were nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren that needed care at various times.&nbsp; One grandson, Ben, had a Wilms tumor removed (and also a kidney) when he was 14 months old.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Marvetta and Shelly Sperling; Andy, Jackie, Kate and Evan Sperling; Micah, Stephanie, Jacob and Hailey Sperling; Murray, Melody, and Michael Stucky; Max, Lynda, Ben, and Madeleine, Abe and Sam Stucky; Morris, Diana, Grant and Hope Stucky; brother, Marlo and Ruby Goering; and sisters-in-law, Dolores (Phil) Goering, Mabel (Reuben) Goering, Mary Cross (Don) and Felice (Clyde) Goering.

She attended Elmhirst School in rural Hutchinson.&nbsp; Katie was a member of the Amish Church.

She was united in marriage to Alvin S. Beachy on February 18, 1954 in rural Hutchinson.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on September 28, 2010.

Katie was a dairy farm wife and devoted homemaker.

Smiley, 67, died Monday, September 13, 2021 at her home.&nbsp; Born May 23, 1954 at Abilene, KS she was the daughter of Warren Dean and Audrey Janice Moorehouse Cooley.&nbsp; She was a Customer Rep for Westar/Evergy energy company.&nbsp; On September 2, 2988 she married Dennis Smiley at Wichita.&nbsp; She is survived by her husband: Dennis.&nbsp; Children: Todd (Monica) Smiley, Tanda (Tony) Poell, Shawna (Brent) Knoche and Robert (Kelli) Smiley.&nbsp; Thirteen grandchildren.&nbsp; One great grandchild.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Alan Cooley.&nbsp;

Patricia Vivian Truesdell, age 93, passed away September 14, 2021 in St. John, KS. 

Pat was born January 4, 1928 in Sterling, CO to Earnest and Gladys (Rush) Wood. Pat married Lee Linnemann and together they had three sons. In 1967, Pat married Calvin D. Truesdell who brought his four sons into their marriage. He later passed away in 2014. Pat was very social, having a love for her faith in Jesus Christ, family, gardening, singing, reading, board games and photography. She also attended flight school earlier in life. Survivors include her son Kerri Linnemann, St. John, KS; daughter in law Dawn Linnemann, Severance, CO; step sons, Dwain (Roxanne) Truesdell, Greeley, CO, Randy (Gloria) Truesdell, Bakersfield, CA, Frank (Diana) Truesdell, Pagosa Springs, CO; brother, Ron (Virginia) Wood, Boise, ID; sisters, Ruth (Hank) Wyeno, Littleton, CO, Harriet McGuire, Wichita, KS, June (Bob) Allen, Bay City, TX; grandchildren Joshua, Jacob, Jenna; seven great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. N. Sharron Jader, 83, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital. She was a retired administrative assistant at Riverview Estates Nursing Home, Marquette. Sharron was born on March 3, 1938, in Marquette, the daughter of Kenneth Albin and Norma Grace (Crist) Erickson. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1956 and continued her education at Brown Mackie Business School, Salina. On April 20, 1957, Sharron was united in marriage to P. David Jader in Marquette. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1998. She was a member of Marquette United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include: four children, Kathleen Wheeler (Rocky) of Hutchinson,&nbsp; Sheila Jader of Marquette, Deena Kelsey (Scott) of Hillsboro, and Darrin Jader (Joēlle) of McPherson; a brother, Donald Erickson (Rose) of Marquette; eight grandchildren, Brian Jader (Micah), Kristi Sherrer (Matt), Jamie Akinrolabu (Yinka), Tiffany Wheeler, Carmen Hawk (Eric), Bethany Hajek (Alex), Natalie Jader, and Mallorie Jader; 13 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. Anne Nisly, 97, of Hutchinson, died September 12, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born May 8, 1924, in LaGrange, Indiana, to Lawrence and Mattie (Bontrager) Yoder.

Anne was a homemaker and dedicated pastor’s wife. She loved gardening, baking, and reading. More than anything, Anne loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.

On November 8, 1951, Anne married Amos Nisly in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 70 years together.

She is survived by: husband, Amos; sons, Phil (Lucy), Tim (Shelli),&nbsp; and Larry (Pam) Nisly, all of Hutchinson; daughter, Rosi Nolder, Selinsgrove, PA; son, JR (Renee) Nisly, San Antonio, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in West Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Randy Lee Wilmot, 60, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Hutchinson, KS. He was born January 17, 1961 in Fairfield, CA to Ralph and Kay (Cooper) Wilmot.

Randy attended Southwest High School in San Antonio, TX. He was an over the road truck driver.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Sidney Wilmot.

Randy is survived by his daughter, Rachel Stephens, his son, Christopher Stephens; and two sisters, Evelyn and Marcia Wilmot.

Henry and Matilda Ruge Engelbart. Myra was united in marriage with Dwight “Dewey” Hultquist on May 12, 1955, in Uehling, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2015. Myra resided in Lyons from 1980 until 2016, when she moved to Wichita. She also resided in Clifton from 1960 until 1980. Myra was a top Avon saleswoman, having worked from 1968, until her retirement in 2015. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons, Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter #32, and member of the Red Hatters. Myra enjoyed traveling with Dewey, especially to Valle Del Ora in Mesa, Arizona. She also looked forward to having coffee with her friends and catching up with her Coffee Group. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Russel Henry Hultquist; brother, Dr. Richard Engelbart; in-laws, Sherman and Zella Hultquist; and dear friend, Lil Anderson. Marjorie Utt Davis age 98, died Sunday, September 12, 2021at Delmar Garden of Overland Park. She was born at home in Pratt County,&nbsp; to Floyd N &amp; Mary Baker Utt. She retired from 1st National Bank, Larned after 21 years. Marjorie was a member of the 1st Baptist Church, American Baptist Women, and a past member of Li-Ar-Mu Club, all of Larned. On June 1st, 1941 she married Willard J. Davis at the Baptist parsonage in Coats, KS. He died September 6, 20008. Survivors include: Son, Dr. Randy Davis (Maribeth) of Manhattan; daughter Iris Flournoy (Ralph) Fairway. She had five grandchildren: Dr. Mary Catherine Lemberg (Blake) of Seattle, WA,; Andrew Flournoy (Katie) Prairie Village; Madison (dec); Lauren and Ashton Davis of Manhattan; 2 great-grandsons and one great granddaughter of Seattle: Alden, Mason, and Imogen. She had two great grandchildren in Prairie Village: Lena Marjorie and Weston James. Hester, Sr., 82, went to heaven on September 9, 2021, peacefully at his home in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; Harold was born on September 24, 1938 in Sterling, Kansas, the son of Teddy and Alice Hester.&nbsp; Harold graduated in 1958 from Kingman High School, Kingman, Kansas.&nbsp; He worked on the family farm from age 4 until he left home.&nbsp; Harold spent most of his life as a truck driver.&nbsp; He had several businesses of his own, pulling mobile homes, H&amp;K Turquoise Jewelry, tree trimming, H&amp;K produce, swathing and bailing hay.&nbsp; Harold retired from Shears APAC in 2008.&nbsp; He was a jack of all trades.&nbsp; He loved restoring John Deere tractors, fishing, crafts, and time with his family.

In 1958, he married Particia Boyer.&nbsp; On July 6, 1972, he married Karen S. Stewart, he was preceded in death by both his wives.

Survivors include:&nbsp; sons, Harold M. Hester, Jr., James and Jerry; daughters, Jody Dreher and Peggy Lopez; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
