Susan Lee (Klingler) Jones entered eternal life on November 21, 2021 after a long battle with dementia. She was 70 years old. She was born January 8, 1951 to Theodore and Virginia Klingler in Leavenworth, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents. Susie was avid church goer for almost all of her life. And if the church had a choir – she was in it. She also was very involved in women’s ministries, particularly ABW (American Baptist Women). However, her greatest delight was being a pastor’s wife and supporting her husband of 50 years, Ron, in his ministry. Together they served in 4 churches and 1 Baptist affiliated conference center. Susie was also very involved in the school systems where she lived. For many years she worked for USD #453 in Leavenworth as a secretary for the administration building and was a paraprofessional while living in Augusta, KS. Susie was lucky enough to marry her high-school sweetheart Ron on May 28, 1971, he survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Sarah (Kris) Jolley and Lisa Jones; and three grandchildren, Everett, Greta and Leif. Survivors also include one sister, Betty (Rick) Stutzman and two brothers David (Pam) Klingler and Charles (Judy) Klingler. Anyone who knew Susie knew how much she loved chocolate, shopping and especially her grandchildren. Her devotion to her faith and her family are her lasting legacy. Della Mae Harr, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 22, 2021 at her home in Newton, Kansas. She was born March 18, 1934 in Newton, to Roy and Beulah (Smetzer) Pletcher.

Della Mae retired from Alco department store in 2007 after working there for over 26 years as cashier/trainer. She was known for her decorative jewelry that she wore on her smock which gave her the title of being called the “pin” lady. She also taught piano for over 50 years which was her constant joy. She enjoyed playing the piano for retirement homes around the area and would perform musical programs involving other individuals. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church of which she enjoyed sending birthday and anniversary cards to the members as well as baking homemade dinner rolls for some of the members of the church.

Della Mae is survived by four sons, Rick and his wife Char, of Newton, Ron, of Noel, Mo., Bruce and his wife Daina, of Newton, and Brian and his wife Julie, of Coastsville, Ind., and one daughter-in-law, Billie of Newton, 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 10  great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents, Roy and Beulah Pletcher, son Randy Harr, and grandson, Ryan Harr. Dhe is also preceded in death by brothers Billy Pletcher, Harold Pletcher, sisters Ruth Miller and Esther Moore, one grandson and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Meridian Baptist Church in Newton with Pastor Scott Kliewer presiding. Dennis J. Lubbers, 72, died Nov. 23, 2021 at Mt. Hope.

He was born March 2, 1949, in the Mt. Vernon community the son of Ed and Aurelia Blasi Lubbers.  A longtime Kingman resident, he was a dairy farmer, and a CO-OP employee.

Dennis was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he enjoyed singing in the Adult Choir, the Knights of Columbus; and was past president of the Kansas Milk Producers Association.

Survivors include son Preston and his wife Kami; daughter Stephanie Sowers and husband Rodney; brothers Vince, Eddie and Randy; sister Delores Neal; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Larry, Raymond, Kenneth and Reynold.

She was born Aug. 21, 1930, at Calista, Kansas the daughter of Melvin and Rachel DeWeese Foulk.  A lifetime resident of the Kingman community, she was a former telephone operator and a retired employee of First National Bank.

Nancy was a member of the Kingman Christian Church; a former treasurer for the American Cancer Society, the VFW Auxiliary, the Kingman Hospital Auxiliary; and volunteered for the Nu-2-U store.

On Jan. 20, 1950, she married Ray G. Hawkins; he died April 12, 2012.  Survivors include daughter Gwen Drosselmeyer; son Roy Hawkins; 5 grandchildren, Cody, Clint and Kelli Drosselmeyer, Renee Timar and Rachael Murray; and 8 great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-mother Maude Foulk; brother Norman “Red” Foulk; and sister Peggy Akins.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Hoosier Cemetery.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and 4 siblings; Larry, David, Ann (Rice) &amp; Carolyn (Saunders).

Charles ‘Chuck’ Eugene Denison, Sr., 78, passed away November 16, 2021, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab.&nbsp; He was born October 11, 1943, in Rossville, IL, to Dallas E. and Dorothy M. (Cox) Denison.

Chuck was a graduate of Rossville High School, Rossville, IL.&nbsp; He worked for various employers in Illinois and Oklahoma before settling in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Chuck was an avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team.

On December 13, 2017, he married Debra Murphy in Hutchinson.

Michael Erich Brasch, passed away on November 19, 2021, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born on September 28, 1975, in Coburg, Germany to Barry Brasch, Sr and Erika Karius.

Michael was a 1994 graduate of Hope High School in Hope, KS. He was a truck driver by trade, driving many years for Great Plains Trucking, followed by driving a school bus for several years. In 2005, Michael was blessed with twin daughters who were his pride and joy. Michael enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends and family.

Michael is survived by his mother; his twin daughters, Mariah and Michelle Brasch of Herington, Brothers; Peter Jaeger and daughter Marishka of Albuquerque NM, Barry Brasch, Jr and family of Trenton North Carolina; he is also survived by his aunts and uncles in Germany. He was preceded in death by his father.

In 2005, Michael was blessed with twin daughters who were his pride and joy. Michael enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends and family. Michael is survived by his mother; his twin daughters, Mariah and Michelle Brasch of Herington, Brothers; Peter Jaeger and daughter Marishka of Albuquerque NM, Barry Brasch, Jr and family of Trenton North Carolina; he is also survived by his aunts and uncles in Germany. Dorothy’s life began October 17, 1922, in Long Island, NY. She was the daughter of Albert and Sophie (Pluck) Kohler. Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond W. Welch until his death in 1982. 

Dorothy’s life consisted in doing her Lord’s work. She was a preschool teacher in an Assembly of God preschool, and she also was very active in her beloved church in Concord, GA. Dorothy was a faithful member of the Friendship Presbyterian Church in Concord and was active in church functions for many years. Even though Dorothy had lived in several states, her heart was in Georgia. 

Her loving family includes her grandchildren Joey (Valerie) Thiel of Thomaston, GA, George (Tracy) Thiel of Ramona, KS, Jimmy (Janie) Thiel of Herington, KS, and Johnny (Melissa) Thiel of Herington; great grandchildren Ben, Amanda, Jessie, Dallas, Katie, Anthony, Jason, Jared, Kristin, Jacob, Kody, Kaitlin, Kaley, Lauren, Dalton, Michael, Joey, and Chris; and several great grandchildren. Dorothy passed away on November 16, 2021, at Legacy of Herington. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Cathy Thiel, and great grandson Jonathan and all her siblings.

Kristina Diane Roth, age 43, of Hesston, KS, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

Kris was born March 11th, 1978 the daughter of Robert (Bob) and Diane Burnett in Garnett, KS and lived with her family in Princeton, KS.&nbsp; Kris attended Prairie View Senior High School, graduating with honors in 1996.&nbsp; She was a member of the Richmond and LaCygne United Methodist Churches while growing up.&nbsp;

As a Kansas State University student, Kris was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and active in the KSU Methodist Campus Ministry Program. On Sept 28, 1996 she met the love of her life, Derek Roth on a blind date. On December 18th, 1999 Kris and Derek were married at the Paola United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Kris graduated in May 2000 with a BS in Family and Consumer Science Education.

Derek and Kris made their home in Hesston, KS. Kris used her degree teaching FACS at Hillsboro High School. Kris loved teaching but once God blessed her with her first son, teaching took a back seat to the job she loved most, being a mother. Benjamin James was born August 12, 2001. Shortly after Lucas Aaron joined the family on November 5, 2003. A third son was born January 23, 2008 Elijah Nicolas. The family was complete with the birth of Josiah Christopher on June 10, 2010.

In addition to raising their four boys, Kris was a frequent substitute teacher in the Hesston school district. She enjoyed investing in the youth of her community, as a youth group leader and middle school PTO president. She was an active member of the Women’s Civic Club and served on the board of the Hesston Community Foundation and the fellowship committee at Hesston MB. Passionate about serving others Kris was frequently the first to volunteer for any opportunity to serve her community.

Along with her loving husband Derek of almost 22 years, Kris is survived by her four sons, all of Hesston. Her parents, Robert (Bob) &amp; Diane Burnett, LaCygne, KS and her brother, Jason (Nichole) Burnett, Olathe, KS and sister Abby (Rob) Hedrick, Overland Park, KS. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother Martha Chambers, Osage City, KS and 14 nieces and nephews.

Kris was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Robert (Bob) &amp; Dorothy Cooper, Richmond, KS, and her paternal grandfather, Otis Burnett, Tracy, MO.

Vickie graduated from Nickerson High School, in 1971. &nbsp;For 48 years, she owned Vic’s Dog Grooming, pampering and grooming thousands and thousands of dogs.&nbsp; Vickie was a Godly woman, always putting her family, friends, and customers’ needs ahead of her own. She loved her family unconditionally, and adored her five grandchildren.&nbsp;

Pratt - Stephen Earl McPherson, 95, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at South Wind Home. He was born on December 12, 1925 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, the fourth child, to Herbert Earl and Inez Pearl (Ratliff) McPherson. Stephen married Effie Irene (Marrs) McPherson on May 17, 1950 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2014. Stephen graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1943. He lived in Fort Cobb where started and finished School. He spent 2 years and one month in the United States Navy during World War II on Manus Island in the Pacific (June 6, 1944 - June 26, 1946). He spent the next 4 years working around Ft. Cobb, playing baseball for Carnegie, Ft. Cobb and Oney, and refereeing basketball and camping. He attended Carnegie Junior College in 1948 - 1950 where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He met Irene at college and married the love of his life, Irene Marrs, on May 17, 1950. Steve attended Southwestern Oklahoma State and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, lettered in baseball, and received his Masters in Education Administration at Oklahoma University. He began working in education in 1951 at Oney, Ft. Cobb, and retired as elementary principal in Lamar, CO in 1989. Steve and Irene moved to Prague, OK and eventually moved to Pratt KS in 2016. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, and formerly of the VFW. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, woodworking, ball games, and hunting. He is survived by his son, Herb (Kristin) McPherson of Pratt; brother, Joe Swanda of Edmond, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; Jason (Vanessa) McPherson, Jennifer (Clayton) Smith, Lesli (Jamie) Baca, Kyle (Lara) McPherson, Zach Widener, Zeke (Emily) McPherson, Hannah (Cody) Barilla, and Leah (Trent) Befort and 19 great grandchildren. Dorothy M. Peak 94, died November 21, 2021 at Paramount Health and Rehab in Newton.  She was born December 4, 1926 in Quenmo, Kansas to George A and Edith (Worley) McKinley.  On April 9, 1944 she married Keith W. Peak at Eskridge, Kansas and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1991.

Dorothy was a long time active member of First United Methodist Church in downtown Newton.

She was retired as assistant director of food service for USD 373 in Newton.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Peggy Hinshaw and Judy Cornelius, she is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband a daughter Lucinda Marie and 5 brothers.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Newton with The Reverend Amos McCarthy officiating.  Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Newton.

Marilyn Mae Preheim, 81, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Pine Village of Moundridge.&nbsp; She was born May 5, 1940 in rural Kingman County, near Cheney, Kansas.

Her family moved to a farm in rural Reno County where she spent her youth.&nbsp; Her 1st&nbsp;to 12th&nbsp;grade education was in the Pretty Prairie school system.&nbsp; She then spent one year in North Newton, at Bethel College.&nbsp; Marilyn was baptized in the First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie, where she became a member.&nbsp; Her membership was later transferred to the Eden Mennonite Church.

Marilyn’s work career began as telephone operator first at Newton and then in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Her marriage brought her back to Newton as receptionist at Doctor’s Park and as a mail clerk at Hesston Corporation.&nbsp; This was followed by long term employment at Prairie View mental health facility.

Wiebe (Emily), and Cole Gooden; great-grandchildren, Oliver Farve and Drew Farve.&nbsp; She is also survived by one sister, Lavera Schrag of Newton; one brother, Kenneth (Ellie) Schrag of East End, Canada; one brother-in-law, James Preheim (Gladys) of Peabody; two sisters-in-law, Darla Schrag of Pretty Prairie, and Judith Graber of Pretty Prairie; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Adina Schrag; brothers, Delmar Schrag and Donald Schrag (stillborn); and brothers-in-law, Calvin Preheim and Kenneth Graber.

Paul R. Burckhart, 88, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021.  He was born on August 1, 1933 in Orrville, Ohio, the son of Elias K. and Mable (Ressler) Burckhart.

Paul graduated from Orrville High School in Orrville, Ohio.

In 1960, he started his own business named Paul’s Inc., where he worked in the heating, air conditioning and plumbing services.

He was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church.

Paul was united in marriage to Marna Lou Gaeddert on March 26, 1955 in Buhler, Kansas.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his four children, Sheryl (Wes) Miller of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Kristen (Mark) Mayhue of North Newton, Kay (Dave) Swartzendruber of Lakewood, Colorado, and Phil (Joanne) Burckhart of Buhler; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carolyn Powers of Wooster, Ohio and Mary (Bill) Hoover of Orrville, Ohio.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Marilyn Burckhart; and granddaughter, Sara Swartzendruber.

Private family burial will take place at Hesston Cemetery. Lois Mae Moeckel, 93, passed away November 6, 2021, at her home.&nbsp; She was born July 14, 1928, on a farm near Garfield, KS, to Wayne and Ada (Gibson) Vinson.&nbsp; Lois was the youngest of their four children.

Lois was a graduate of Garfield High School, Garfield.&nbsp; She attended Fort Hays State University where she met her husband, Donald LeRoy Moeckel.&nbsp; Lois was a member of Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority and Don was the star on the Fort Hays State basketball team. They were married on August 12, 1948, and shared 41 years of marriage before his death on September 4, 1989.

She worked various jobs over the years wherever her husband’s coaching, teaching, and military career took them.&nbsp; Lois was an elementary school teacher in Ada, KS, and a secretary in the dean’s office of the College of Agriculture at Kansas State University in Manhattan.&nbsp; She worked in a dress shop in Colorado Springs, CO, and in the offices at Dorrance and Palco High Schools in Kansas.&nbsp; Lois was an assistant in the Stafford County Register of Deeds office in Saint John. After moving to Hutchinson in 1965, she worked as a secretary at Pierce Faris Cochran Sutton Accounting Firm until she retired in 1994 after 29 years.&nbsp; She and her husband also owned a custom harvesting and seed hauling business for over 20 years.

Lois was a sports fan as she followed and supported the various high school basketball teams that were coached by her husband.&nbsp; She was an avid K-State fan.&nbsp; No one was allowed to interrupt her when a K-State game was on.&nbsp; After Lois’ retirement, she was able to travel and follow her son’s career and visit family across the country before her health forced her to stop. &nbsp;She was a cancer survivor.&nbsp; Lois was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

Lois is survived by her son, Merle Moeckel, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; three brothers and their wives, Elmer and Jeanette Vinson of Chambersburg, PA, Clyde and Madeline Vinson of Garfield, and Harry and Dorothy Vinson of Denver, CO; two brothers-in-law, Bud Moeckel of Hays, and Glen Hurst of Topeka.&nbsp; She remained in contact over the years with many of her nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Avenue, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating.

He was a member of Isabel Church of Christ and Haviland Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, picking on the grandchildren, working, bit and spur collecting and many other items. Prior to retirement, she owned and operated a hardware store in Beaver City. She was born on June 2, 1925, in Pawnee County, NE, the daughter of Ralph Lewis and Lillian Josephine (Novotny) Stepan. She graduated from Peru (Nebraska) High School and received her associates degree in business. Virginia was united in marriage to Howard E. Mortensen on June 15, 1947. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1972. She married Lee Allen Hunt on May 18, 1974, and he passed away on May 16, 1995. She was a member of Faith Community Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
