John E. Totten, 87, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home in South Hutchinson.
He was born June 25, 1934 in Hutchinson, the son of John F. and Martha E. Ratzlaff Totten. John graduated from Inman High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. He also attended air traffic controller training in Olathe. He enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. On June 25, 2016, he married Doris Warren in Hutchinson. John worked for North Platte-Lee Bird Regional Airport as an air traffic controller and retired after 25 years. He also worked for Colliday Hardware Co. and was a bus driver for USD 256. John received his pilot’s license and loved to fly. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #982 and attended Victorious Life Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Gloria King.
John is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Mitch (Cindy) Totten and a granddaughter, Landrie Totten.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
