Posted Jan 03, 2022 2:08 PM

John Robert Keyser, 78, loaned from God, entered his heavenly home December 27, 2021, at Lindsborg Community Hospital, Lindsborg.  He was born October 19, 1943, in Hutchinson, to John Oliver and Ethel Irene (Shinkle) Keyser.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961.  He worked for Haven Steel Products, starting in their information technology department, where John established their first computer system.  He later moved to the purchasing department, retiring with 25 years of service at Haven Steel Products.

John enjoyed fishing, watching western television shows (such as Gunsmoke), cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and calligraphy.  John loved his grandchildren unconditionally, supporting them in their sports and school activities; if his grandchildren were taking part, Grandpa would be there.  John was a life-long and faithful member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Searchers Sunday School class.

John was a strong believer in Jesus Christ.  During his life, he endured many peaks and valleys with humble perseverance, no matter what adversity John faced.  He was always willing to give a compliment, and let others know how much he appreciated them.

On June 17, 1967, he married Gwen Neill, in St. John.

John is survived by:  his wife of 54 years, Gwen of Hutchinson; children, Penny Jones (Scott) of TN, Shane Keyser (KimBerly) of Overland Park, Stacy Wampler (Bryce) of Lindsborg; grandchildren, Nathan Jones, Cameron Cavette, Andrew Keyser, Zachary Keyser, Allan Wampler, Ethan Wampler, and Ileia Wampler; and sisters-in-law, Marie Keyser, Margo Keyser, and Billie Eberle.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; infant brother, Jack Keyser; and brothers, Steve Keyser and Marvin Keyser.
