Leona Ruth Dyck, 92, of Moundridge, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Moundridge Manor. She was born on January 29, 1930 in rural Moundridge, the daughter Aaron Y. and Gertrude (Holdeman) Boeckner. She was raised north of Hesston and lived in Halstead and Newton. Leona attended the French School in rural Hesston. She was a member of the Gardenview Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Halstead. Leona was a devoted homemaker. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Dyck on April 24, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2013. 81, passed away surrounded by his wife and children at his home in Ellinwood on
September 17th.&nbsp; Born on April 25, 1941, in Great Bend, he

September 15, 1962, he married the love of his life at St. Joseph Church in
Ellinwood. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary right before his
passing. Don was owner and operator of Knop Sand Company, Knop Auto Parts and
Repair, and Knop Farms. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1187 and
St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood.

Don enjoyed
visiting with people and made many lifetime friends throughout the years.

He was
proceeded in death by his parents; a brother, Kent Knop; and a brother-in-law,
Eric Kowitz. Survivors include wife Janice Knop of Ellinwood; daughter Debbie
(James) McCormick of Ellinwood, sons, Danny Knop and Damian (Robyn) Knop of
Ellinwood. Other survivors include a sister, Susan Kowitz of Hutchinson, a
sister-in-law, Rose Knop of Ellinwood, 10 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.

Terrill “Terry” Wayne Underwood, 70 of Medicine Lodge, was taken from this world on September 14, 2022. He was born on August 30, 1952, in Winfield, to Charles and Alice (Jackson) Underwood. Terry grew up in Anthony, where he played football, was on the wrestling team, and during the summers he worked the wheat fields. In 1969 the family moved to Dodge City, where he played his senior year of football at Dodge City Senior High. He continued to play football at Dodge City Community College. During this time, he worked at KP&amp;L, was part of the Boot Hill Variety Show and rodeoed. After attending Washburn University, he moved to Wichita, KS and worked for Citgo. Later, he transferred to Medicine Lodge, KS. Terry continued to work in the natural gas industry for 37 years before retiring. In his retirement he enjoyed taking his 5th wheel to the lake and fishing. Terry enjoyed mentoring kids and helping them with their show animals. He was an avid jokester and a dear friend to many. He is survived by his partner of 16 years Debbie Randle of Medicine Lodge; daughter, Kialee Bender of Verdigris, OK; son, Terrance (Helen) Underwood of Oceanside, CA; daughter, Victoria Walz of Verdigris, OK; Ten grandchildren, Kyle Hickmon, Aliano Terrell Underwood, Aliyus Underwood, Jaylynn Underwood, Augustine Lopez, Emily Lopez, Chance Bender, Kaydence Bender, Mayzee Bender, and Kennedy Walz; One great grandchild, Kashtyn Bender; four siblings, Vicki Underwood of Wichita, KS, Ernest (Mikki) Underwood of Park City, KS, Howard Underwood of Wichita, KS, and Nikki Underwood (Donald) Pearson of Wichita, KS, several nieces and nephews and extended family. Surviving in addition to his wife, Deana Pelzl of Medicine Lodge, are two sons, Bill (Barb) Pelzl of St. Clairsville, OH and Rick (Natalie) Pelzl of Medicine Lodge; two daughters, Tracy (Jeff) Schmitt of Pryor, OK and Bobbi Robins of Huntsville, AL; Six grandchildren &amp; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shelly Chain and Frances Land of Medicine Lodge. Donald Edward “Don” Britton, 78, of Sterling, passed away September 16, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. 

He was born March 2, 1944, in Auburn, New York, the son of Herman J. and Beatrice “Bea” Smith Britton. Don has resided in Sterling since 1970, formerly of Centerville, Missouri. He graduated from Sterling High School, with the class of 1962. 

Don served in the United States Navy from January 9, 1963 until January 8, 1969, attaining the rank of machinist mate 3rd class. He was the assistant manager for Home Lumber in Sterling for twenty years, retiring in 2006. Don enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, woodworking, fishing and watching the birds. 

On May 6, 1983, Don was united in marriage with Debra “Debbie” Bates in Hutchinson, Kansas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his four children, Marquétta Prince and husband Stacy of Fayetteville, AR, Greggrétta Voth and husband Mike of Sterling, Kelly Britton of Hutchinson, and Shawn Britton and wife Ashley of Sterling; two brothers, Dale Britton and Mark Britton and wife Jill both of Sterling; and eleven grandchildren, Christina, Haylie, Shawna, Leland, Morgan, Sean, Sara, Cody, Jayci, Kellen, and Kellendra. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Ethan Voth. Graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling, with Dennis Corbet officiating.&nbsp;

Delosse was born April 12, 1959, in Fort Estes, WV to Richard and Wanda (Daniel) Cox. &nbsp;He attended Sterling High School and graduated in 1978. &nbsp;In 1982 he married Louise Hauschild in Kansas.&nbsp; They had one daughter, Tiffeney.&nbsp; Delosse and Louise later divorced. He worked for Coca Cola Industries for 15 years and also worked for Jadansa Inc. as a truck driver for more than 20 years.&nbsp; He was a devoted KU fan and never missed a single football or basketball game. Delosse is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Cox. He is survived by his daughter, Tiffeney (Gene) Reed of Hutchinson; two sisters, Tammy Jones and Teresa Cox; a brother, Butch Cox; and four grandchildren. Per Delosse’s wishes, his remains have been donated to the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine to help the students at KU further their studies. There will be no services held at this time. Carl Zink, 87, passed from his earthly life on August 1, 2022. He was born September 26, 1934, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of the late Orval and Mary (Bontrager) Zink.

Carl graduated from Kansas State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He served in the United States Army.

On December 31, 1991, he married Mary Ellen (Herndon) Walk and celebrated 30 years of marriage this past year. They made their home in Garden City, Kansas until moving to Mustang, Oklahoma to be near grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his wife Mary, children Shelly Pitts (Lynn), Greg Zink (Donna), Carol Zink (Kathy Garcia), Dana Barnes (Rocky), and Dax Walk (Audra), brother O.J. Zink (Linda), seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by is parents, his sister Natalie (Zink) Zook, and brother Robert Zink.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Leoti Cemetery with Pastor Don Williams presiding.

Eldo Pete Kroeker was born September 9, 1929 to parents Pete and Sara Kroeker in McPherson, KS and was sibling to Ernest, Ella, Amanda and John. He lived in Inman, Kansas all his childhood days. One of Eldo’s favorite memories was walking home along the Rock-Island railroad throwing rocks. I guess boys will be boys. He would go on to graduate from Inman High School in 1947.

At age 21, Eldo went to Pax-an MCC service in Germany. He spent two years there rebuilding homes for people from Prussia. Being a conscientious objector, Eldo couldn’t serve in the war but he felt he could serve somewhere. “If other men serve in the war, then I need to serve somewhere” he said. Upon his return to Kansas, Eldo continued to serve his country through 1-W service. He worked for the Topeka State Hospital for the mentally ill. The work was challenging, but also very rewarding. During this time, Gracie Gima, a nurse from Hawaii was finishing her RN training in the very same ward on the very same shift. The two would meet and fall in love, and they married on August 16, 1954 in Hawaii.

In their early years of marriage, Eldo and Gracie lived in Inman Kansas. They became custom harvesters, cutting wheat from Texas to Montana running 3 Massey Ferguson combines. This was a very profitable business, but living on the road became a challenge once they began having children. So Eldo and Gracie bought a farm north of Hutchinson, where they began farming. They juggled raising registered black angus cattle and four children: Mike, Warren, Bruce, and Linda. Eldo even had a favorite horse named Buck, and two favorite dogs, Art and Benny. Throughout the years, the herd grew along with the children and it truly became a family operation. Gracie would cook and feed the crew on the road, and the children would show their cattle across the nation, promoting the Kroeker Angus bloodline, they won many purple ribbons. Their success would lead to annual sales on the farm as well as private treaty sales. Together, they created a very beautiful life. Eldo was a member and Director of the Kansas Angus Association. He and Gracie were also nominated as Honorary Members of the Kansas Angus Association.

Gracie passed away October 6, 2002 with Eldo right by her side, where he always was. Eldo was briefly married to Doris Price, but the two were ultimately destined for friendship.

Eldo was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, where he served and taught Sunday School classes. He was an early founder and chairman of the MCC sale for five years. Eldo was a man of unwavering faith. He recalls a cold night at the age of 13 in his Inman, KS home when he heard a soft knocking. He realized it was Jesus knocking on his heart, asking to come in. It was on this night that Eldo accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. From that moment on, it was very important to him to make sure everyone he met knew Jesus.

Eldo passed away peacefully September 13, 2022 at Pleasant View Home. Although our family mourns this loss, we rejoice in knowing he is finally home with Jesus, Gracie, and his granddaughter Maggie.

Survivors include his children: Mike (Debbie) Kroeker, Warren (Diana) Kroeker, Bruce (Julie) Kroeker, and Linda (Rob) Mullins; grandchildren: Lee (Angel), Angela, Misty (Kevin), Bret, Brady (Maggie), Charlene (Matt), Maggie, Dr. Bruce Samuel, John, and Anna; great grandchildren: Avery, Sam, Kayleigh, Scarlet, Evie, Dalton (Alley), Garrison (Pam), Colton, Jayce, Carlie, Miles, Milly, Julia Mae, Hudson Bruce and James Wells; and great great grandchildren: JW, Bryntley, Newt, Bo, and Pecos

He was preceded in death by his parents Pete and Sara Kroeker, his wife Gracie Kroeker, granddaughter Maggie Kroeker, brother Ernest, sister Amanda Neufeld, and brothers in law John Neufeld and Edwin Regier.

Eldo Pete Kroeker was born September 9, 1929 to parents Pete and Sara Kroeker in McPherson, KS and was sibling to Ernest, Ella, Amanda and John. He lived in Inman, Kansas all his childhood days. One of Eldo’s favorite memories was walking home along the Rock-Island railroad throwing rocks. I guess boys will be boys. He would go on to graduate from Inman High School in 1947.At age 21, Eldo went to Pax-an MCC service in Germany. He spent two years there rebuilding homes for people from Prussia. Being a conscientious objector, Eldo couldn’t serve in the war but he felt he could serve somewhere. “If other men serve in the war, then I need to serve somewhere” he said. Upon his return to Kansas, Eldo continued to serve his country through 1-W service. He worked for the Topeka State Hospital for the mentally ill. The work was challenging, but also very rewarding. During this time, Gracie Gima, a nurse from Hawaii was finishing her RN training in the very same ward on the very same shift. The two would meet and fall in love, and they married on August 16, 1954 in Hawaii.In their early years of marriage, Eldo and Gracie lived in Inman Kansas. They became custom harvesters, cutting wheat from Texas to Montana running 3 Massey Ferguson combines. This was a very profitable business, but living on the road became a challenge once they began having children. So Eldo and Gracie bought a farm north of Hutchinson, where they began farming. They juggled raising registered black angus cattle and four children: Mike, Warren, Bruce, and Linda. Eldo even had a favorite horse named Buck, and two favorite dogs, Art and Benny. Throughout the years, the herd grew along with the children and it truly became a family operation. Gracie would cook and feed the crew on the road, and the children would show their cattle across the nation, promoting the Kroeker Angus bloodline, they won many purple ribbons. Their success would lead to annual sales on the farm as well as private treaty sales. Together, they created a very beautiful life. Eldo was a member and Director of the Kansas Angus Association. He and Gracie were also nominated as Honorary Members of the Kansas Angus Association.Gracie passed away October 6, 2002 with Eldo right by her side, where he always was. Eldo was briefly married to Doris Price, but the two were ultimately destined for friendship.Eldo was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, where he served and taught Sunday School classes. He was an early founder and chairman of the MCC sale for five years. Eldo was a man of unwavering faith. He recalls a cold night at the age of 13 in his Inman, KS home when he heard a soft knocking. He realized it was Jesus knocking on his heart, asking to come in. It was on this night that Eldo accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. From that moment on, it was very important to him to make sure everyone he met knew Jesus.Eldo passed away peacefully September 13, 2022 at Pleasant View Home. Dave Ray Schoonover passed away due to injuries he sustained in a catastrophic motorcycle accident while on the way to Mobile, AL for the Legacy Run. 

Dave was a long time member of the American Legion, after serving in the US Army as a Transport Driver in Germany from 1980-1984. He was a staunch supporter of American Legion programs, especially the Legacy Runs both nationally and in Kansas. 

Dave was a wildlife lover and served on the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Reserve Board of Directors for over 20 years. Dave leaves behind his wife Millie Schoonover, and many family and friends.

Larry Max Buller, 79, passed away September 15, 2022, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson. He was born November 20, 1942, the son of George and Margaret Buller in Hutchinson. He was a graduate of Inman High School. He was a member of the Moose Club, VFW, and Inman Mennonite Church. He was a salesperson for Whirlpool Appliance. He married Dianne Courtney on August 30, 1963, in Hutchinson. She passed away in November of 1997.

Survivors include his children; Trisha (Lee) Totman, Taos, NM, Richard (Mary) Buller, Hutchinson, and David (Nancy) Buller, Independence, MO; Niece, Christine (Tim) Quick, Cheney; Sister-in-law, Theresa Buller, Inman; and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son Daniel, and two brothers, Steven and Eugene Buller.

Cecil Otis Bush, 93, passed away peacefully September 16, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born February 4, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Roy O. and Ethel E. (Tucker) Bush.

Cecil graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.&nbsp; Cecil then worked as mail carrier in Hutchinson for over 30 years.&nbsp; After retirement, he worked for five years at Winans Elementary School.&nbsp; Cecil enjoyed spending time with his son, Brian, tinkering with things in the garage and out at Brian’s farm.&nbsp; He also enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid boxing fan. &nbsp;Most of all, he was a family man.&nbsp; Cecil’s greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.&nbsp; He was a member of NARFE and NALC Union (National Association of Letter Carriers).&nbsp; Cecil was of the Methodist faith.

On November 7, 1954, he married Nellie Pearl Allison, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; She passed away January 12, 2020, after they shared almost 66 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Cecil is survived by:&nbsp; daughter, Rhonda Ford; granddaughter, Jennifer Cushenbery (Travy), all of Hutchinson; grandson, Travis Ford (Jessica) of Rogers, AR; four great-grandchildren, Tayvin Cushenbery, Kyleigh, Sean, and Lakyn Ford; and a sister, Mary Lou Coen of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; his wife, Nellie; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Annette Bush; brother, Earl Bush; and sister, Corrine Harper.

LaVerna Ahring Waggoner, 98, of Hutchinson died peacefully at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center on September 3, 2022.

LaVerna was born July 8, 1924 in Lincoln, Kansas to Frank Henry Ahring and Jennie (Morrison) Ahring, both descendants of early pioneer families in Lincoln County, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

LaVerna earned a Bachelors degree in education at Central State College, Edmond, Oklahoma in 1948. After her marriage to James Johnston Waggoner on July 29, 1948, she was a high school teacher for several years and then the mother of six children. She was a resident in Hutchinson for more than fifty years and a member of the Park Place Christian Church.

LaVerna is survived by her brother James Byrd as well as five of her children: James Waggoner Jr., Donald (Stephanie) Waggoner, Paul (Debra) Waggoner, Robert Waggoner (Wendy Wintersteen) and Mary Waggoner. Additionally she is survived by eight grandchildren Andrew (Michelle) Waggoner, Elizabeth (James) Davis, Zoe (Joshua) Schumm, James Waggoner, Sara (Sam) Bookless, Jeff (Sara) Lambert, Jane Waggoner, and Alessandra Waggoner as well as five great-grandchildren, Abigal Schumm, Scarlett and Stella Bookless, and Adler and Metta Davis.

LaVerna was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her sisters Mary Byrd and Delma Jean Williamson, her brother Robert Ahring and her son David Waggoner.

Victor was a hero, an adventurer, a rebel, a wanderer, and a very remarkable man. He lived a life of integrity, valor and generosity.

Born to Isaac C. and Anna W. Thiessen Willems, he was raised on the farm west of Inman that had been in the family since their migration from the Ukraine. He accepted the Lord Jesus as his savior and was baptized in Lake Inman during his teenage years. He married the love of his life, Josephine Elda Goertzen on April 28, 1951, at Zoar Mennonite Brethren church.

Although his church did not condone war, Vic stepped up to his duty to his country during the Korean war as a Combat Engineer. He served in both the 45th Division, 120th Combat Battalion, Company B and the US 8th Army, 9th Corps, 194th Combat Engineer Battalion, Company B Heavy Equipment Section, returning to the states as a Sergeant.

Upon his return, he worked for Cessna, Collins Industries, Braun/Canadian Hydraulics/Ricon but spent a great amount of time travelling the world. He set foot on all 50 states and 31 countries in his lifetime and loved sharing his travels with friends and family.

He was a member of the Town Club, Civitan, and the American Legion, active in his local church and supported many Missions overseas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Josephine, his sister DeLoris and granddaughter Abby.

He leaves behind his son Timothy (Deborah) Hutchinson, grandchildren Brittany (Tyler) Lawrence Hutchinson, Brianna (Tyler) Augustine Gypsum, Shelby (Dylan) Trammell Hutchinson and Trevor Willems Hutchinson, and 9 great-grandchildren who will miss his smile, his love and his stories.

Emma Jean (Mead) Eck, 87, Office Administrator for the London, Ontario Board of Education, died September 15, 2022.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 19, at the Emmanuel Church Cemetery, 2161 Comanche Rd., Galva.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Allen Eck; parents, Max and Thelma Mead; brother, Billy Mead; and sister, Maxine Curfman.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Jay Henderson of Lambeth, Ontario; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lanita Eck of Andale; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Brett Marshall of Treasure Island, Florida; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Lindsey, Luke, Lacey, and Colby; three great-grandchildren, Gunner, Sawyer, and Lawrence.

Emma Jean (Mead) Eck  |1934-2022|  

Hugo G. Kickhaefer was born October 24, 1931, to Ewaldt and Lizzie (Schlesener) Kickhaefer on the family farm in rural Woodbine. He was confirmed on June 17, 1945 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Shadybrook. 

Hugo graduated from Woodbine High School in 1949 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force, stationed in Wichita. While serving in the Air Force, he met and later married Donna (Wheat) Kickhaefer on October 02, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Jewell. They returned to Herington where they farmed for five years. In 1960, Hugo began working for Evans Grain Co. managing the grain elevator in Marysville until 1975. At that time, Hugo and Donna purchased the grain elevator at Latimer, which they owned and managed until their retirement.

Hugo loved the outdoors. He especially loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. One of his favorite activities was driving around to check on the farms and crops. He also enjoyed oil painting, playing cards, and woodworking in his free time. Hugo loved taking his grand-dog Bella to the park on his scooter. He loved telling stories of his time growing up with eleven siblings and many cousins, harassing the teachers in the country school that he attended, his time in the Air Force as a mechanic on the large bombers, and playing baseball. He and Donna explored most of the United States and Canada on a number of trips with friends. Most of all, Hugo loved his family and found joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hugo’s faith was important to him. When he could no longer see to read his Bible, he would listen to the audio version. He was also a reliable volunteer at the church when the lawn needed mowing or a variety of other trustee duties.

Hugo, at the age of 90, entered his eternal rest on Thursday, September 15, 2022, in Herington. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ewaldt and Lizzie Kickhaefer, siblings Virgil Kickhaefer, Gerhardt Kickhaefer, Orville Kickhaefer, Alvin Kickhaefer, Levi Kickhaefer, Rosalie Tucker, and infant brother, Walter Max Kickhaefer.

Hugo G. Kickhaefer was born October 24, 1931, to Ewaldt and Lizzie (Schlesener) Kickhaefer on the family farm in rural Woodbine. He was confirmed on June 17, 1945 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Shadybrook. Hugo graduated from Woodbine High School in 1949 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force, stationed in Wichita. While serving in the Air Force, he met and later married Donna (Wheat) Kickhaefer on October 02, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Jewell. They returned to Herington where they farmed for five years. In 1960, Hugo began working for Evans Grain Co. managing the grain elevator in Marysville until 1975. At that time, Hugo and Donna purchased the grain elevator at Latimer, which they owned and managed until their retirement.Hugo loved the outdoors. He especially loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. One of his favorite activities was driving around to check on the farms and crops. He also enjoyed oil painting, playing cards, and woodworking in his free time. Hugo loved taking his grand-dog Bella to the park on his scooter. He loved telling stories of his time growing up with eleven siblings and many cousins, harassing the teachers in the country school that he attended, his time in the Air Force as a mechanic on the large bombers, and playing baseball. He and Donna explored most of the United States and Canada on a number of trips with friends. Most of all, Hugo loved his family and found joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hugo’s faith was important to him. When he could no longer see to read his Bible, he would listen to the audio version. He was also a reliable volunteer at the church when the lawn needed mowing or a variety of other trustee duties.Hugo, at the age of 90, entered his eternal rest on Thursday, September 15, 2022, in Herington. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ewaldt and Lizzie Kickhaefer, siblings Virgil Kickhaefer, Gerhardt Kickhaefer, Orville Kickhaefer, Alvin Kickhaefer, Levi Kickhaefer, Rosalie Tucker, and infant brother, Walter Max Kickhaefer. Michael Lee Godwin, 46, of Mcpherson, passed away at 3:15 p.m, Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. Michael was born in McPherson, on August 20, 1976, a son of Allen Ray Brown and Judith Diane (Hill) Godwin and was adopted in 1980. Michael attended McPherson grade schools, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson. He then attended Bethany College on a football and track scholarship, Lindsborg, Kansas where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Science in 1998. Michael was the owner and operator of Mac Movers Moving Company in McPherson. Michael Lee Godwin was united in marriage Jesse Jo Jones on June 3, 2000 in Canton. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters and a son Peyton and Kenzee and Jace. He is survived by his wife, Jesse Godwin, of McPherson; his daughters, Peyton Turner and Kenzee Godwin, of McPherson; his son, Jace Godwin, of McPherson; hisbrother Matt Godwin, of McPherson. and his Dad, Allen Brown. Michael enjoyed and loved the KC Chiefs, fishing, grilling, Peyton's art work, all the kids sporting events, traveling and spending time with his friends and family. He is also survived by 1 grandson, Wilder Turner. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Godwin, his grandparents, Fred and Betty Hill and adopted father Jim Godwin. Delosse was born April 12, 1959 in Fort Estes, WV to Richard and Wanda (Daniel) Cox. &nbsp;He attended Sterling High School and graduated in 1978. &nbsp;In 1982 he married Louise Hauschild in Kansas.&nbsp; They had one daughter, Tiffeney.&nbsp; Delosse and Louise later divorced. He worked for Coca Cola Industries for 15 years and also worked for Jadansa Inc. as a truck driver for more than 20 years.&nbsp; He was a devoted KU fan and never missed a single football or basketball game. Delosse is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Cox. He is survived by his daughter, Tiffeney (Gene) Reed of Hutchinson; two sisters, Tammy Jones and Teresa Cox; a brother, Butch Cox; and four grandchildren. Per Delosse’s wishes, his remains have been donated to the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine to help the students at KU further their studies. There will be no services held at this time. Mickey graduated from Fairfield South High School, Turon.&nbsp; She received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Fort Hays State University, where she was certified to teach both instrumental and vocal music. After graduation, Mickey found her true passion as an elementary school vocal music teacher.&nbsp; She instilled her infectious love of music to her students and two children.&nbsp; Mickey also taught in her home both private voice and piano lessons, and prepared hundreds of students for music contests. Prior to moving to Hutchinson, Mickey was active in the Bucklin United Methodist Church, where she served as choir director, and was a member of the Dodge City Sweet Adelines.&nbsp;&nbsp; In addition, Mickey was the director for the 21st&nbsp;Century Learning Academy in Mullinville, helping countless students receive their high school diploma.&nbsp; Mickey enjoyed collecting Hummels, and was member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson and DOERS Sunday school class.

On December 22, 1963, she married John Paul Jones, at College Hill United Methodist Church, Wichita.

Mickey is survived by:&nbsp; her husband of almost 59 years, John Paul of Hutchinson; children, Jason Jones (Tracy) of Hesston, Jacque Wilburn (Darren) of Overland Park; sister, Donna Fisher of Wichita; grandchildren, Alexander Eckhoff (Kayla), Nicholas Eckhoff, Jace Jones, Chrision Wilburn, Alayna Wilburn, Kyra Wilburn, Dalyn Wilburn, and Quinton Wilburn; great-grandson, Elliott Eckhoff; great-granddaughter, Adelaide Eckhoff; niece, Suzi Casement (Bert Boden); seven foreign exchange students; and her beloved dog, Joey.

She is survived by her two sons Ralph (Pamela) Lee of Junction City and Charles (Diane) Lee of Green Valley, IL; grandchildren Billy and Jennifer Chavis, Helen and Darin Lee and great grandchildren Ezra Extell and Blake Chavis.&nbsp; Nadine passed away at Diversacare of Council Grove on Tuesday September 13, 2022.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.&nbsp;

She was born April 10, 1946 in Hays, to Lawrence and Felicita Staab.


In 1964, Joyce graduated from Marian High School in
Hays.&nbsp; She attended Fort Hays State
University and graduated in 1968 with her Bachelor’s Degree.&nbsp; She went on to Medical Technology Training at
St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, from 1968-1969.&nbsp; In 1982 she graduated from Fort Hays State
University where received her Master’s Degree.&nbsp;
Joyce worked for Hays Pathology Laboratory from 1969 to 1978 where she
was a Microbiology Supervisor.&nbsp; She later
worked for Hutchinson Hospital Corporation for 21 years and retired in 2006 as
a Microbiology Supervisor-MT (ASCP)M.&nbsp;
She was a member of The Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.&nbsp; 

Joyce is survived by a niece, E. Page Cunningham;
grandnephew, Darren D. (Yumiko) Hudson; and twin great-grandnieces, Abby and
Emma Sejima-Hudson.

Alan (Al) Eugene Vogts, 62, passed away on September 12, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Al was born in Newton, on St. Patrick’s Day in 1960 to Edward W. Vogts and Kathryn (Schrag) Vogts.

Al grew up in Moundridge, and was known to his friends and family for his fun-loving personality, strong Christian faith, competitive drive, and long skinny legs. He left Moundridge on an athletic scholarship and graduated from Tabor College in Hillsboro, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. After graduating from Tabor in 1982, Al started his family and career. 

On August 14, 1982, he married Ellen Herr at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro. Together Al and Ellen had three daughters; Emily, Amber, and Avery who they raised in Newton, KS. He later married Jennifer Lee Hansen on November 23, 2005 adding Al’s three step-children Jamie, Jeremy and Josh to create a fun and lively blended family.

Al put his business degree to work following in his father and brother’s footsteps as an entrepreneur. He has spent the last 40 years coming up with wild and innovative business ideas that spanned across construction companies, rental units, real estate developments, an event center, athletic training club and lots of other creative notions he had high hopes of impacting his community with. In the last few years, Al retired from several of these business ventures and filled his extra time playing pickleball. Pickleball became a way for Al to put his competitive drive to use and build new friendships. Al sought out to be “the best pickleball player of his age division” and recently began building a pickleball court in his backyard. The court will be completed in his honor by his family.

Al attended several different churches over his lifetime but his commitment to living a life of faith remained consistent. For over ten years, Al has been a committed attendee of NewSpring Church services and loved sending out group texts of Mark Hoover’s sermons to his family.

Al is survived by his mother, Kathryn Vogts (Moundridge); his wife of almost 17 years, Jennifer Vogts (Newton,); his three daughters, Emily Metcalf and husband Chris Metcalf (Wichita), Amber Vogts and husband Matthew Wilder (New Orleans, LA), Avery Vogts and husband Ethan Oltean (Wichita); his step-children, Jamie Hansen and fiancée Vanessa Lashinske (Kansas City, MO) and Josh and Jeremy Hansen (Wichita); his brother Mark Vogts and wife Joyce Vogts (Moundridge); his sister Jenny Loyd and her husband Scot Loyd (Canton-Galva); and his grandchildren Oliver and Jack Metcalf, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his father, Edward William Vogts.

The family will be receiving friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday (September 18th) at the Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Church Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (September 20th) at NewSpring Church in Wichita. Alan (Al) Eugene Vogts, 62, passed away on September 12, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Al was born in Newton, on St. Patrick’s Day in 1960 to Edward W. Vogts and Kathryn (Schrag) Vogts.Al grew up in Moundridge, and was known to his friends and family for his fun-loving personality, strong Christian faith, competitive drive, and long skinny legs. He left Moundridge on an athletic scholarship and graduated from Tabor College in Hillsboro, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. After graduating from Tabor in 1982, Al started his family and career. On August 14, 1982, he married Ellen Herr at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro. Together Al and Ellen had three daughters; Emily, Amber, and Avery who they raised in Newton, KS. He later married Jennifer Lee Hansen on November 23, 2005 adding Al’s three step-children Jamie, Jeremy and Josh to create a fun and lively blended family.Al put his business degree to work following in his father and brother’s footsteps as an entrepreneur. He has spent the last 40 years coming up with wild and innovative business ideas that spanned across construction companies, rental units, real estate developments, an event center, athletic training club and lots of other creative notions he had high hopes of impacting his community with. In the last few years, Al retired from several of these business ventures and filled his extra time playing pickleball. Pickleball became a way for Al to put his competitive drive to use and build new friendships. Al sought out to be “the best pickleball player of his age division” and recently began building a pickleball court in his backyard. The court will be completed in his honor by his family.Al attended several different churches over his lifetime but his commitment to living a life of faith remained consistent. For over ten years, Al has been a committed attendee of NewSpring Church services and loved sending out group texts of Mark Hoover’s sermons to his family.Al is survived by his mother, Kathryn Vogts (Moundridge); his wife of almost 17 years, Jennifer Vogts (Newton,); his three daughters, Emily Metcalf and husband Chris Metcalf (Wichita), Amber Vogts and husband Matthew Wilder (New Orleans, LA), Avery Vogts and husband Ethan Oltean (Wichita); his step-children, Jamie Hansen and fiancée Vanessa Lashinske (Kansas City, MO) and Josh and Jeremy Hansen (Wichita); his brother Mark Vogts and wife Joyce Vogts (Moundridge); his sister Jenny Loyd and her husband Scot Loyd (Canton-Galva); and his grandchildren Oliver and Jack Metcalf, as well as many nieces and nephews.Al was preceded in death by his father, Edward William Vogts.The family will be receiving friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday (September 18th) at the Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Church Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (September 20th) at NewSpring Church in Wichita. Rebecca Ann “Becky” Hege, 81, died on September 12, 2022, at Halstead Health and Rehab in Halstead.&nbsp; She was born on January 11, 1941, in Newton, the daughter of Cecil and Ima (Lawson) Foster. Becky attended Newton and Emporia High Schools. Graduating from Emporia with the class of 1959.

Becky’s passion was helping others.&nbsp; She worked for many years as a Family Support Worker with the State of Kansas, Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services.

On July 14, 1961, she was united in marriage with Gerald Dean Koehn. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1966.&nbsp; She again found true love, and on August 16, 1971 married Richard Hege in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple celebrated 51 beautiful years together this past August.

Becky is survived by her husband, Richard Hege; daughters, Misty (Bruce) Bartel, Melissa (Merlin) Koehn, and Melanie McClain; sons, Shawn Hege, and Shane (Dana) Hege; sister, Edwina “Eddy” Beard; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Gerald D. Koehn; and sisters Glenna Becker and Joy Craig.

A Remembrance Open House will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at #4 Cedar Drive, Newton.&nbsp; Private family graveside services will be held.

Gerald Aaron “Red” Everhart, 88, of Lindsborg passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Bethany Home.  Gerald was born May 25, 1934 in rural McPherson County, to the late Basil and the late Dora (Nichols) Everhart. 

 

He married Lola M. "Vickie" Downey on June 16, 1954 at Bentonville, AR. Red was a grain elevator worker.



Survivors include brothers: Wayth Everhart (Pat) of Assaria, and Lonnie Everhart (Marsha) of Tescott;  as well as numerous extended family members.

Red is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Vickie; and sister: Dolores Young.


The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg, with Pastor Jim Strassen officiating. Burial will follow at Canton Cemetery, Canton. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Judith Susan Schmidt,77, was born February 8, 1945 in McPherson, the daughter of Theresia Schmidt Bishop. She grew up in Canton, along with her brother Anthony and attended school there. During her youth, Judith enjoyed spending time with cousin Jackie playing paper dolls, of which she had a huge collection and churning homemade butter while the women in the family baked bread. She also enjoyed the friendships she shared with Alice, Roberta and Sharon. In her later years, Judith resided in care homes in Haviland and Onaga. She was a devoted sister to her brother Tony and kept in close contact with him throughout the years. She also continued the close relationship with her cousin Jackie, even though they lived many miles apart. Judith entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Onaga Hospital in Onaga, after many years of failing health. She is survived by her brother Tony of Canton; her guardian Kay Smith of Westmoreland, and numerous cousins and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022 at Canton Township Cemetery. Olson's Mortuary, is in charge of arrangements. Tony would like to express his sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown to him at the passing of his sister, especially to cousins Jackie Tucker, Dickie Gage and Doug Loewen.
