Ron Barney, 71, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 peacefully at home in Valley Center. He was preceded in death by his wives Sarah Barney and Connie Barney. He is survived by one son, Jeremiah (Jackie) Barney, and daughters Susie (Kurt) Schroeder, Sandra Shields and Jessica Baughman; grandchildren “Little Sarah” Weaver, Dakota (Nicole) and Christian Sawyer, and Raegan Barney as well as five great grandchildren. It was his wish that there be no funeral services. He was loved and will be missed.

Ronald D. “Dale” Whetstone, 76, of Lindsborg passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Lindsborg Community Hospital.  Dale was born February 27, 1946 in Stafford, to the late Clyde Chester and the late Zeela Audrey (Hall) Whetstone. 

 

He married Kristine Swenson on August 10, 1968 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Lindsborg.  Dale was a United States Army veteran and fought in the Vietnam War.  He worked as an aftermarket auto parts salesman.  Dale was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the VFW.

Marshal Craig Funk, 43, of Redmond,
Washington and formerly of McPherson, passed away on Saturday, June 11,
2022, at his home.&nbsp; 

Marshal was born September 13, 1978, to
Willard R. and Janet I. (Schmidt) Funk in McPherson.&nbsp; He attended
Sonshine Preschool, Lincoln Elementary School, McPherson Middle School and
McPherson High School.&nbsp; Marshal enjoyed school and learning.&nbsp; 

A friend and neighbor, Shawn Hein, was a
big part of Marshal’s childhood.&nbsp; It was almost as if they were
twins.&nbsp; Where one was, the other was never far away.&nbsp; Marshal enjoyed
school and the relationships he had with his teachers.&nbsp; At an early age,
Marshal developed an interest in space exploration and meteorology.&nbsp; Many
hours were spent at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.&nbsp; He knew the mission of
every space flight and what it involved.&nbsp; He was also interested in
observing weather.&nbsp; Initially he was terrified of storms and severe
weather.&nbsp; Needless to say, the weather channel was on almost constantly,
especially on days when there were weather alerts.&nbsp; When tornado sirens
went off, we usually went to the neighbor’s basement for shelter.&nbsp; On one
of those days, his dad noticed his backpack was moving and squirming.&nbsp;
Marshal had packed four kittens in there to take to the neighbor’s
basement.&nbsp;&nbsp; Eventually after learning what causes severe weather, he
became more rational and even wanted to go out and chase storms.

Marshal attended First Baptist Church
regularly with his family.&nbsp; In 1988, he was baptized after professing his
faith in Christ.&nbsp; Marshal would look forward to spending time with family
and friends.&nbsp; At family reunions, he enjoyed sharing his jokes and
puns.&nbsp; Marshal also enjoyed vacations with his family, especially time in
the mountains of Colorado.

Marshal played trombone in the Middle
School Band and Jazz Band.&nbsp; This carried over to the High School Marching
Band, Pep Band and Jazz Band.&nbsp; Marshal enjoyed reading, and read many
books from a wide range of genres.&nbsp; Early in high school, Marshal was hired
at the local Dairy Queen where he developed a good work ethic.

Marshal graduated from high school in 1997
and went on to Kansas State University where he participated in Marching Band
his freshman year.&nbsp; He worked as an assistant for two years at Goodnow
Residence Hall.&nbsp; He graduated in 2002 with a degree in History and a minor
in Computer Science.

After graduating from college, Marshal
packed up his car and moved to Seattle, Washington, where he had a job waiting
for him through his friend, Daniel Horn.&nbsp; He worked at various software
companies, including Marchex, White Pages, Amazon and others, ending up at the
University of Washington.&nbsp; Marshal enjoyed cooking and was happy to give
his advice on cooking procedures to those of us less able. In an uncharacteristic
move, Marshal became a dedicated Seattle Seahawks fan for several years when he
had access to season tickets through his apartment manager.&nbsp; In 2014 when
the Seahawks won a Super Bowl, it was time to move on.&nbsp; 

We always looked forward to Marshal being
home at Christmas and catching up on life’s events.&nbsp; Marshal had a quiet
and reserved personality, but he was a positive influence in the lives of
people he knew and worked with.&nbsp; Marshal will be greatly missed.

Marshal is survived by his father, Willard
Funk (Mary) of McPherson; step-brothers, Ryan Shaw (Jordan) and family of
Cheney, and Connor Shaw of Kansas City; and several aunts, uncles and
cousins.&nbsp; 

A special thanks to Roger and Karen Horn,
Daniel and Ashley Horn, and their families for including Marshal in their
holiday family celebrations and dinners.

Jill Renae Horton, 54, passed away suddenly, but peacefully in her sleep, on July 2, 2022, in Mount Zion, IL.&nbsp; She was so loving and the best mother a child could ever ask for.&nbsp; Jill was selfless; always putting her family first.&nbsp; She enjoyed her many phone calls with her mother and with her kids to say ‘Hi’ and ‘I love you’.&nbsp; Jill enjoyed doing puzzles, watching cooking shows, spending time with her family, and babysitting her grand-pets.&nbsp; She was an expert at creating delicious meals for her family and her cookies and baked treats were nothing short of addictive sweetness.&nbsp; Jill especially loved Christmas time and all the joy of gift giving and spending hours laughing and telling stories.&nbsp; Her beauty was unforgettable, her laugh was contagious, and her smile would light up the darkest room.

Jill was born August 22, 1967, in Great Bend, to Edwin E. and Aileen (Meyeres) Reichuber.

She was a 1985 graduate of Buhler High School, Buhler.

On June 4, 1993, she married Scott Alan Horton, at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 29 years of marriage with Jill giving birth to Andrew James on March 20, 1996, and to Allison Renae on June 14, 1999.

Jill is survived by: her husband, Scott Horton of Mount Zion, IL; children, Andrew (fiancée, Polet Horsley) Horton of Terre Haute, IN, and Allison (fiancé, John Pirelli) Horton of Morton, IL; parents, Edwin and Aileen Reichuber of Hutchinson; siblings, Karen (Steve Roth) Salke of Columbus, OH, and Kevin (Heather) Reichuber of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Jen Reichuber of Carlsbad, CA; numerous nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Reichuber.

Shirley Kay Bell was born on November 25, 1935 at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Cedar Bluffs.&nbsp; Her parents were James R’Leigh Bell and Lucille Lydia Nemeth Bell.&nbsp; Shirley graduated Herington High School in 1953.&nbsp; Her dream was to become a hairdresser.&nbsp; In high school Shirley had good grades.&nbsp; She was a baton twirler and drum majorette with the band.&nbsp; Shirley worked babysitting, at the Frigid Queen, and as a nurse’s aide.&nbsp; Shirley has lived in Cedar Bluffs, Oberlin, Norton, Hays, Manhattan, Wichita, and Herington.&nbsp; She has also lived in Kentucky, Tennessee, California, and Missouri.

Shirley graduated from Venus Cosmetology School in Wichita in 1954.&nbsp; She then married Donald Herpich on December 13, 1954.&nbsp; Don served in the Army, and they lived in different places during that time.&nbsp; Tom was born at Ft. Ord, Ca, and Kerry at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. &nbsp;After discharge the couple lived on a farm in rural Herington.&nbsp; Gene, Scott, and Lori arrived and completed their family.&nbsp; Shirley was very happy raising her family on the farm.&nbsp; Many good times were had working together as a family.&nbsp; Church was very important to Shirley.&nbsp; She and the children were baptized together at the First Christian Church.&nbsp; Shirley realized her dream of being a cosmetologist.&nbsp; She had her beauty shop in 5 different locations.&nbsp; She had many happy clients and worked for nearly 40 years.&nbsp; A favorite memory of Shirley’s was winning a red Ford Pinto car at a cosmetology convention in Wichita.

Shirley and Lester Harmon were married on September 29, 1983 at the Christian Church in Herington.&nbsp; Lester worked as a railroader and Shirley worked in her beauty shop.&nbsp; Shirley and Lester kept very busy with their family.&nbsp; Shirley was very talented at cooking, baking, sewing, home decorating, painting, and gardening.&nbsp; Her cream pies were a special favorite of her family.

They took many memorable vacations and visited family, including Shirley’s brothers, James and Ken in California. &nbsp;Shirley has visited Washington D.C. and had taken some RV trips to Texas and Mexico.

Shirley and Lester have been very blessed with 8 children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; Shirley has spent lots of time enjoying her family and friends.&nbsp; Her loving family includes, Lester Harmon of Topeka; Tom Herpich (Connie) of Burdick; Kerry Swinney (Ken) of Derby; Gene Herpich, deceased (Alfrieda) of Burdick, Scott Herpich (Kathy) of Herington; Lori Hughes (Art) of Wichita; brothers James Bell (Susan) of Santa Monica, CA; Kenneth Bell of Herington.&nbsp; Stepchildren, Rick Harmon (Connie) of Basehor; Lesli Girard (Tim) of Topeka; and Kim Nikoliasen (Kerry) of St Louis, MO. &nbsp;

Danny’s life began on November 22, 1949, in Newton. He was the son of Don and Betty R. (Thomas) Whiteside. 

Danny was a 1967 graduate of Remington High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Danny was united in marriage to the former Jo Brenner on July 7, 1975, in Marion. He worked for over 30 years as a rural mail carrier. Dan was friendly and outgoing, which is why so many friends enjoyed casual time with him in his garage. He was a jokester and loved pulling pranks. Danny enjoyed coyote and bird hunting as well. He was very good at spoiling his grandchildren and he loved spending time with all of his family. 

Danny is survived by his wife of 46 years Jo Whiteside of Potwin; his mother Betty R. Whiteside of Potwin; children Brandi (Chris Smith) Garrison of El Dorado, Chris (Mary) Oberst of Potwin and Scott Oberst of Potwin; grandchildren Devan (Mallory) Poffinbarger, Caden Garrison, Jaxon Oberst, Brody Oberst, and Gracee Oberst. 

Danny passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday July 2, 2022, at his home. He is preceded in death by his father Don. Danny’s family will gather with friends on Tuesday July 5, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. 

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Potwin Christian Church. Danny will be laid to rest in McGill Cemetery, Potwin in a private family service.&nbsp;

Danny’s life began on November 22, 1949, in Newton. He was the son of Don and Betty R. (Thomas) Whiteside. Danny was a 1967 graduate of Remington High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Danny was united in marriage to the former Jo Brenner on July 7, 1975, in Marion. Jo Ann Knop Schepmann, 91, passed away July 1, 2022, at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She was born June 15, 1931, at their farm home in rural Pratt, the only child of Edward Charles Knop and Ruby Alma (Voight) Knop. Jo Ann was baptized at their family home on July 20, 1931, as a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She confirmed her Christian faith on April 2, 1944, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preston (Natrona). Jo Ann graduated from Preston High School in 1949 and then attended St. John’s College, Winfield. She graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in 1951 with a dual major in teacher training and church parish work. She taught kindergarten and was a youth counselor and parish worker at Zion Lutheran in Hinsdale, Illinois, and then taught second grade at Holy Cross Lutheran School, Fort Wayne, Indiana. On November 28, 1953, she married Nathan Frederick Schepmann at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preston (Natrona). He preceded her in death on December 26, 2019. They were married for 66 years. Jo Ann was a homemaker, bookkeeper, and Schepmann Farms partner. She and Nathan raised cattle and laying hens, grain crops, and sold Pioneer Hi-Bred Seeds. She was a substitute teacher at St. Paul Lutheran School. She was a community leader for the Preston 4-H Club and worked part time at the Pratt County Treasurer’s Office. Jo Ann was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Midweek school and served as a volunteer church secretary for more than fifteen years. She was a 68-year member of the Bethany Guild/Ladies Aid/Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League and served in all offices. She and Nathan were founding members of the Children's Christian Concern Society (now known as LeadaChild), and she served as the volunteer financial secretary. Through the LWML Mission of Love, Jo Ann worked with others to complete quilts to donate to those in need through Lutheran World Relief, Orphan Grain Train, and other local organizations. She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Piester and husband, Ronald, of Coats, and Carla Boyd and husband, Calvin, of Medicine Lodge; one son, Warren Schepmann and wife, Lori, of Preston, and Westcliffe, Colorado; five grandchildren: Austin (Misty) Piester, Andrew (Megan) Piester, Christopher (Chelsea) Boyd, Sara Schepmann, and Katie Schepmann; and 11 great-grandchildren: Jackson, Lincoln, Truman, and Hayes Piester; Kylee, Addelyn, Makenna, Carter, and Logan Piester; and Charlotte and Catherine Boyd. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Ryan Schepmann. He was born in Wichita to Fred and Deborah (Spencer) Kelly. A lifelong resident of Wichita, he graduated from Heights High School in 1977. He was a Delivery Quality Inspector at Textron Aviation and retired in 2018 after 41 years of service to the aviation industry.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, admiring his grandchildren, and most loved spending time with his grown sons. He passionately cared for his adopted bluebirds and dachshunds.

Steve is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane (Hohn); sons Ryan, Jason (Emilee), and Kevin (Samantha); grandchildren Lela (10), Ethan (9), Henry (9), Noah (8), Owen (6) and Vivian (3); mother Deborah; brother Mike (Stephanie), sister Kathy (Richard) Owens; and five nieces and nephews.

Jack J. Meyers, 87, died July 2, 2022 at the Hilltop Manor, Cunningham.

He was born Feb. 8, 1935, at Cunningham the son of August E. and Frances Vierthaler Meyers.&nbsp; A resident of the Cunningham community most of his life, he was the Past President and Chairman of the Board of the First National Bank of Cunningham.

Jack served the City of Cunningham as City Clerk, council member, and Mayor over a 50 year period.&nbsp; He was a 66 year Charter member of the Cunningham Lions Club and the last living such member.&nbsp; He was very active in civic life and held positions far too numerous to mention, but among his many mostly volunteer positions, he was a member of the Cunningham PRIDE, State Pride Board, American Legion Post #114, Treasurer and member of the Sunflower RC&amp;D, served on the Kansas-Nebraska School of Banking Board, Kingman Hospital Board, Board of Directors of Burrton State Bank and Citizens Bank of Kansas, and served many years as Chairman of the Board of the First National Bank of Cunningham, later named Ninnescah Valley Bank of he was Director Ameritus.&nbsp; His passions in life were many, but he took tremendous pride in his yard and his professional career as a banker, and worked tirelessly over many years to make Cunningham a better place to live.&nbsp; He was so proud of his family which he loved endlessly.&nbsp;

Jack was a member of the the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cunningham; and was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 stationed at NATO Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany.

On January 9, 1960, he married Jane M. Youngers at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Other survivors include sons Chris and wife Lori, Eric and wife Tina, Jon and wife Christy; daughter Allison Fiegel and husband Mitch; grandchildren, Megan Courtney, Jake Meyers and Claire Esparza, Cole and Ty Fiegel, Bayleigh Newell, Mikaela and Morgan Meyers, Bret and Ellie Meyers; great-grandchildren Huntleigh, Landreigh and Camille; brothers Ken, Danny, Leroy and Jerry; and sister Kathy Plummer.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by a brother Robert; and a sister Carolyn Corkery.

Joyce Dalke, 84, of Hesston, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Pine Village in Moundridge.&nbsp; She was born May 24, 1938 in Newton, the daughter of Willie and Amanda (Bartel) Voran.

She was baptized at and was a member of the Garden Community Church, where she played organ and piano, and taught Sunday school.

Joyce graduated from Hesston Academy with the class of 1956.&nbsp; She later graduated from Hesston College with an associate of arts degree.&nbsp; In 1972, Joyce graduated from McPherson College with a bachelor's degree in education.

In 1958, Joyce worked as a teacher at South Garden School.&nbsp; She later began teaching music at Hesston Elementary School where she taught for 36 years and substitute taught for an additional 10 years.

Joyce was united in marriage to Edward Dalke on June 20, 1958.&nbsp; They had three children from this union: Ileen, Allen and Janell.&nbsp; They celebrated 64 years of marriage and Ed survives of their home.

Other survivors include her daughters, Ileen Miller of Oceanside, CA, and Janell (Ray) Zuercher of Olathe; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Wohlgemuth of Hesston, and Betty (Alvin) Smucker of East Lansing, MI; and sister-in-law, Kathy (Voran) Nabinger of Palmer, AK.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; son, Allen Dalke; brother, Richard Voran; and brother-in-law, Howard Wohlgemuth.

David L. Schrag, 68, passed away June 29, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was born May 28, 1954, to Richard J. and Arlene M. (Graber) Schrag in Hutchinson. He graduated from Central Christian High School, Hutchinson, and Hutchinson Community College.

He had worked for the Reno County Fire Department, Hutchinson Hospital, and Reno County EMS. Dave was a member of Union Valley Bible Church, Hutchinson.

On June 2, 1973, he married Joan Hoffman in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include his two children and their spouses; Linda and Jeremy Morgan, Blue Ridge, TX and Kevin and Andrea Schrag, Mount Hope, KS; a brother, Rick (Penny) Schrag, Naples, FL; a sister, Kathy (Loren) Kroeker, Inman; 12 grandchildren, David and Cameron Morgan, Kristen and Jack Lucas, Sarah and Nathan Allen, Courtney, Elizabeth, and Abigail Morgan, and Meghan, Jacob, and Joshua Schrag; and 2 great grandchildren, Margaret Lucas and Casper Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Becky Schrag.

Doris Ann Miller, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2022, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born July 18, 1944, in Dearborn, Michigan to Hiram Ford and Doris Ann (Stobbe) Swabby.

She graduated high school from Windom, Kansas and attended Brown Mackie Business College in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage with P. Russell Miller on March 5, 1966. They lived in Salina, Kansas for seven years where she worked at Dillon Optical and then Westinghouse Warehouse. She was blessed to have two children: Debra Ann and David Russell.&nbsp;

In 1974, they moved to a country farm north of Little River, Kansas where she became a homemaker and once her children were in high school and junior high, she worked as a prep cook in several local cafes and later at a manufacturing company where she was injured on the job. This accident started the decline in health and mobility for her.&nbsp;

Doris and Russell had moved to Hutchinson, Kansas for her last five years.

Doris's hobbies included: gardening, canning, sewing, raising chickens, and cooking. Doris enjoyed traveling to New York, Michigan, Missouri, Arizona, South Dakota and Montana with friends and family. Her pets, no matter the size, were her pride and joy, it did not matter if they were calves, dogs or cats. Doris enjoyed spring time the most, because she could pick her lilacs and peonies. She loved the smells.

Preceding her in death are her mother, Doris; father, Ford; brother, Kenneth; and step-mother, Wilma.

Survivors include her husband, Russell of the home; two children, Debra and Tim Skalinder of Hutchinson, KS and David Miller and Brenda Barber of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Dakota and Rebecca Skalinder, Alie and Andrew Durst, and Josie Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Kenna, Bryson and Delani.&nbsp;

Roger Lee Moffett, 83, of South Hutchinson, died June 30, 2022, at his home. He was born June 1, 1939, in Chico, CA, to Leander J. and Veva I. (Boydston) Moffett.

After graduating from high school, Roger served in the United States Air Force from 1958-1962 and then in the United States Naval Reserves. He worked in law enforcement for the city of South Hutchinson and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 40 years before retiring. Roger was a motorcycle enthusiast and also had a pilot’s license and owned his own plane. He enjoyed model railroading and was a founding member of KCMR. Roger also enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and birdwatching. He was of the Baptist faith.

On December 22, 2006, Roger married Michelle J. “Mitzy” (DuCharme (Simons) in Haven. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Michael Moffett and wife Diana of Cleveland, TX, Steven Moffett of Hutchinson, Lisa Proffitt and husband Josh of Haven; five grandsons; sister-in-law, Peggy Moffett of Hutchinson; his beloved Pug, “Lily Rose”; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son Roger Moffett Jr., and a brother, Larry Moffett.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Laurel Cemetery, 5395 E Greenfield Rd, Haven. traveled.&nbsp; She was the first woman
foreman for Coleman and the first woman driver for Frito-Lay.&nbsp; She had also worked for the IRS.&nbsp; Most recently she was a mail carrier for the
US Postal Service. 
In the early 1960’s, Karen wrote for a romance magazine.&nbsp; She was a member of Leadership Now, the
Democratic Caucus, and was on the Library Board for Sedgwick County.&nbsp;

She is survived by a son, Daryl Heath, Hutchinson; a
daughter, Katrina Heath, Wichita; siblings, Woodrow Bird II, Valley Center,
Lewis Bird, Roanoke, TX, and Christine Bower, Valley Center; and various nieces
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Per her wishes, cremation is planned and private
family services will take place.

Maxine Doris Pauls, 101, died June 29, 2022, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born December 28, 1920, in Little Valley, to J. Arthur and Minnie W. (Achilles) Briggs.&nbsp;

Maxine graduated from Inman High School in 1938, and attended Salt City Business College. She was a Rosie the Riveter, helping to assemble gliders in the former Eaton building.&nbsp; Later, Maxine, along with her husband, children, sister, and brother-in-law were custom harvesters for many years.&nbsp; She loved spending quality time with her family during harvest season. Maxine then began her career at Hutchinson Hospital, where she worked in the dietary department.&nbsp; At the time of her retirement from the hospital, she was a dietary supervisor.&nbsp; Maxine had a gift for doing whatever it took to help her patients. &nbsp;Her hard work and dedication were noticed, and she received one of the Krause-Carey Outstanding Employee Awards at the hospital.&nbsp; This was given to employees who possess a good work ethic, customer service, and above all, went the extra mile to help the patients. After retirement, Maxine enjoyed attending the Delos V. Smith Sr. Citizens Center, playing pitch and bunco with her friends, and sharing quality time with her family.&nbsp;

On October 2, 1949, she married Walter Henry Pauls, in Inman.&nbsp; He died November 26, 1985, after sharing 36 years of marriage.

Maxine is survived by:&nbsp; son, Brad Pauls (Lori); son-in-law, Merle Lemen, Jr.; grandsons, Andrew Lemen, Zach Pauls (Maddie) and Taylor Pauls. two great-grandsons, Miles Benjamin-Pauls and Oliver Benjamin-Pauls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; daughter, Cindy Lemen; three sisters; and one brother.

Carlos Dean Murphy, 89, died June 25, 2022, at Hospice House. He was born July 28, 1932, in Dighton, to John and Ella (Walters) Murphy, the youngest of 12 children.

Carlos graduated from Dighton High School in 1950 and received his bachelor’s degree in business and master’s degree in economics from Fort Hays State University. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. A Hutchinson resident since 1963, Carlos was a vocational rehabilitation counselor for SRS for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was named Counselor of the Year and Regional Counselor of the Year for the State of Kansas. Carlos loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed playing cards, especially Texas Hold ‘Em. Carlos was a member of Park Place Christian Church, a lifetime member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and a member of the city horseshoe league and was instrumental in organizing the pits at Rice Park. He also worked at the Kansas State Fair every year for 25 years and volunteered at the NJCAA basketball tournament for 40 years.

On June 15, 1958, Carlos married Barbara L. Hamby, in Hays. They shared 64 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: his sons, Shannon Murphy of Hutchinson, Scott Murphy and his wife Dr. Marieke Wolfe of Wichita; daughter-in-law, Jo Murphy of Overland Park; grandsons, Kyle Murphy, Sean Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Nigel Murphy, Seamus Murphy and fiancé Chenin Wilson; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, son, Kelly Murphy (who died in 2020); and 11 siblings.

Wanda Mae (Tickel) Bellew, 87,went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

She was born and raised in rural Braman, Oklahoma. Oldest daughter of Lyman Beauford and Lois Mae (Burgett) Tickel. She was a graduate of Braman High School. She also graduated from Wichita Business College. On March 17th, 1957, in Braman, she married the love of her life, Keith Bellew. To this union were born three beautiful daughters. Wanda worked as a secretary until she was married. She returned to work in 1969 as a school bus driver for USD 259 for nine and a half years, then became the school bus dispatcher, retiring around 1987. She was a long time member of Asbury Church, also enjoying friends and family activities including camping, where she loved cooking for everyone, boating, playing cards, and making the most delicious pies. Wanda always loved making family and friends smile, and she truly lived up to her maiden name of “Tickel” with her contagious laugh, humor, and joy. Her love of people and passing on the “latest news” or calling to “see how you were doing” was a gift she carried well.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Bellew; sister, Norma (Ron) Leabo; brother-in-laws, Ralph Hawkins and Kenny (Ramona) Bellew; like a daughter, Jackie Green; and wonderful friends, Max &amp; Kay Jester and Don &amp; Joyce Brittain; many nieces, nephews, and many other family &amp; friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Keith; daughters, Diane Lynn and Julie Kay; parents, Lyman and Lois Tickel; son-in-law, Eddie Jardine; brothers, Lyman Beauford Tickel Jr., James Edward Tickel, and sister, Glenda Hawkins.

Perry "Bub" Wayne Waltman, 86, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 in Newton.  He was born in Eureka, to his parents  Elza Percy Waltman and Clemma Cecil (Black) Waltman. He was a resident of Newton. He graduated from Rosalia High School.  After graduation he joined the Army and served from 1955-1958 he was based in Germany during most of that time. Perry enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved to watch KU basketball.

He was preceded in death by his dad Elza Percy Waltman, mother Clemma Cecil Waltman, sisters Maxine Osmundson and Mary Leanna Lewis, brothers Harold "Sarge" Waltman, Glenn Waltman and J.B. Waltman, nephews Mark Osmundson and Richard Waltman, wives Iris Waltman and Carolyn Waltman.

Perry is survived by his son Steve Waltman (Cindy) and daughter Vanessa Robinson, two grandsons Jeffery and Dallas Gillmore, several nephews and nieces Craig Waltman, Sherri Engels, Connie Osmundson, Linda and Larry Lewis.

Judy Clary passed peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022, in Wichita.  She was born in Wichita to Richard Charles Hatfield and Dee Frone (Garlock) Hatfield. 

 She was a lifelong resident of Wichita, where she graduated Wichita North High in 1952.  After graduation she married the love of her life Kenneth D. Clary.  Judy joined the staff of Wichita North High School and worked very happily until her retirement.  Judy had many great joys in her life including her husband Ken, three children, Jill Clary, Becky Williamson (Terry) and Kenny Clary (Lisa), nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.  Her family was her pure joy and loved nothing more than to cook for them and make cowboy beds on the floor so grandchildren could spend the night. Judy was an avid reader and loved nothing more than to sit down with a good Nora Roberts and Diet Coke.  

The family will gather Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 4-7 pm at Riverside Christian Church, 1001 Litchfield, Wichita, 67203.  We welcome all who knew and loved Judy.

E. Dean Regehr, 80, died June 28, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born November 19, 1941, in Hutchinson, the son of Elmer and Dorothy Ratzlaff Regehr.&nbsp; 

A graduate of Inman High School, he was also a graduate of McPherson College and had received his master’s in education in Alva, OK.&nbsp; Dean was a teacher all his life, teaching in Culver, Medicine Lodge, Haviland, and the longest time at Hutchinson High School, where he was the Industrial Arts Teacher. Most recently he was a teacher at Bob Johnson’s.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a football and basketball referee for high school and college and a driver’s ed teacher for Hutchinson High School.

Dean was a Member of Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, a member of the Little Valley Township Board, loved to go boating, was an avid arborist, and farmed on his parent’s farm for a lot of his life.

He married Lois Ann Wedel on September 14, 1962, in Inman.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Randall (Janelle Hanson) Regehr, Wichita, and Gregory Dale Regehr, Inman; 3 grandchildren, Meghan Kay Regehr, Kursten Louise Regehr, and Matthew Randall (McKenna) Regehr; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Regehr, Inman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Regehr.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 8, 2022 at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman.&nbsp; The service will be live streamed and can be seen on the Inman Funeral Home Facebook page or the church website.&nbsp;
