Claire Elaine Rhoades, 78, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Diversicare, Haysville.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born May 5, 1944 in Wichita, to Claire and Velma (Gathers) Dunbar. In 1962, Claire graduated from Miltonvale High School in Miltonvale.&nbsp; She attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College where she received her Associate’s Degree.&nbsp; Claire worked for Dillons Market Place for over 18 years in various positions.&nbsp; During the Kansas State Fair, Claire worked at the Dairy Barn for many years.&nbsp; She learned how to play the piano at a very young age of 5 and continued to play throughout the years.&nbsp; She attended Hutchinson Wesleyan Church. Claire is survived by her children, Leroy Rhoades, David W. Rhoades and Cyndi Vancil; grandchildren, Mitchell (Amberlea) Stahl, Michael Stahl, Paul Rhoades, Charles Rhoades, Dallas Rhoades and Michael Rhoades; and great grandchildren, Koen Lee Stahl, Laken Thiel, Renesmae Rhoades and Marcus Thiel. Emery Lynn Knudsen was born sleeping to her parents Brendan Knudsen and Des Vogel-Goodman of Kingman. September 9, 2022 at 1:16pm at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She weighed 3lbs, 13oz, and 15 ½” long.

Orlin Elwell Eigsti, age 96, passed away on September 12, 2022 at Newton Medical Center. Orlin was born October 8, 1925, near Wayland, Iowa. He was the oldest of five children born to Emery and Edna (Wenger) Eigsti. After him came Doris (Dean) Meyer, Ruth (Delmar) Miller, Marilyn Eigsti and Mervin (Ardith) Eigsti. Orlin attended school, through high school in the Wayland Iowa Consolidated School District. Along with basketball and baseball, he played the cornet in the school band. Orlin accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the age of 13. He was a member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Wayland, Iowa, where he served as Sunday School superintendent, MYF sponsor, and elder. On February 22, 1948, he married his life-long sweetheart, Ina Mae Freyenberger, at the same farm house which served as their family home. It was there that they raised their sons. Daniel Joe was born in 1949 and Thomas Lee (Paula) in 1950. In addition to farming the family farm, Orlin served dozens of families and school children, for many years, as a bus driver. In 1969, Orlin and Ina held a farm auction and began a courageous adventure of service to others. This service took them to Richmond, Virginia as houseparents to young adult volunteers, Frontier Boys Village, Larkspur, Colorado, as houseparents for emotionally disturbed boys and Elkhart, Indiana with Mennonite Board of Missions. By 1977, a job opening in the grounds department at Hesston College lured the farmer in Orlin. This led to relocating to Hesston, Kansas. He worked the grounds department for 11 years at the college and 11 years at Stutzman Retreat Center. During this time, Orlin became a member of Hesston Mennonite Church where he contributed faithfully for over 40 years. After retiring in 1999, he and Ina moved into independent living at Schowalter Villa. He continued to serve by volunteering for the Et Cetera Shop, Meals on Wheels, Methodist Youthville. He also provided transportation for Schowalter Villa residents who were unable to drive to appointments. In 2015, Orlin and Ina moved to an assisted living apartment within the Schowalter Villa complex. He continued living there until his death. His upbeat personality, positive perspective, and trust in God, strengthened him through life challenges and brought joy and inspiration to everyone around him. His heart for service endeared him to many and brings a legacy of blessing to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by wife, Ina; sister-in-law, Ardith Eigsti; sons, Dan and Tom; daughter-in-law, Paula; grandchildren, Cherise (Chad) Fidler, Shanna (Micah) Beachy, Melissa (Cory) Lamb, Chad (Sondra) Eigsti and Nathan (Courney) Eigsti; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved and respected Orlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris, Ruth and Marilyn; and brother, Mervin. Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Houston, 49, of Hutchinson, died September 10, 2022, at her residence. She was born December 18, 1972, to Jack Houston and Teresa Escareno, in Neodesha.

Cindy was a resident at Disability Supports along with her roommate of over 30 years, Janna Frank. She loved to go out of the house. Cindy loved to go shopping and eat while she was out.

She is survived by: her mother, Teresa Escareno (Conrad Veale); brother, Scott McMullen; aunts, Cathy Neel, Roberta Hawthorne (Ron); uncles, John Escareno (Marcia), Richie Escareno (Debbie), Thomas Escareno, all of Eureka; roommate, Janna Frank; and numerous cousins.

 Mary is a 1947 graduate of Greenbelt High School in Maryland.&nbsp; She served her country in the United State Air Force from 1952 – 1954 as an assistant in a medical hospital.&nbsp; 

Mary was a homemaker and served as a teacher’s aide for over 20 years.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Roland Yerion on November 1, 1953, in New Mexico. Mary was an avid quilter and was a member of Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.&nbsp; She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion.&nbsp; 

Mary is survived by her children Shawn (Tom) Wunderlick of Marion, Deckie (Tim) Kerfoot of Washington, Nona (Dwayne) Woolbright of South Carolina, and Heather (Kristin) Yerion-Keck of Kansas City; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.&nbsp; Mary passed away at Hillsboro Community Hospital on Monday September 12, 2022.&nbsp; She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and brother.&nbsp;

Juanita Jane Carmichael, 89, went to her heavenly home, Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Diversicare of Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born February 12, 1933, in Montezuma, to Amos Robert and Hazel Nadine (French) Jantz.

Juanita graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951, and Salt City Business College.&nbsp; She worked as a lead in the seat installation department for Collins Industries. &nbsp;Juanita’s faith and family were vital in her life.&nbsp; She had no time for hobbies, as Juanita was always taking care of her family and friends with unconditional love.&nbsp; Juanita was a member of Full Gospel Fellowship Church, praying daily and relying on her Lord and Savior for guidance.

On October 28, 1976, she married Jerry Faye Carmichael, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They met while working at Collins Industries.&nbsp; He passed April 26, 2021, after sharing 44 years of marriage.

Juanita is survived by:&nbsp; daughters, Linda Bush of Wichita, and Jo Ann Stofer of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Elaine Gaskel (Nick), Christina Frost (Doug), all of Joplin, MO, Jerry Carmichael (Diana) of South Hutchinson, and John Carmichael (Carla) of Hutchinson; brother, Marvin Jantz (Agnes) of Colorado; sister, Myrna Moore of Iola; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Edna Mae (Heath) Rymph, 93, of Newton, passed away on September 10, 2022, at Paramount Community Living and Rehab in Newton.

Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, and will be open prior to the funeral service at the church.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd, Newton, with The Rev. Donna Voteau officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 1100 E. 1st Street, Newton. Arrangements are by Petersen Family Funeral Services. The family has stipulated that masks will be required (except for preschool children) at both the visitation and the funeral.

Edna Mae (Heath) Rymph was born on November 5, 1928, outside of Aurora, Lawrence County, Missouri. She was the sixth child of Cornelius (“Neal H.”) and Ethel Catherine (Bradley) Heath. As a child, she was “river baptized” by the pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church in Aurora. After graduating from Aurora High School in 1946, she became the first of her family to attend college, when she was offered a scholarship and work grant to study at National College for Christian Workers in Kansas City, Missouri. She received her B.A. in Christian Education in 1950. After graduating, she worked as the first Conference Director of Children’s Work for the Central Kansas Conference of the Methodist Church and traveled to work with Methodist congregations through central and western Kansas.

Through her work with the Central Kansas Conference, she met a young man, who was studying to be a Methodist pastor in the conference. She married that man, Albert James Rymph, on September 28, 1952, in Aurora. After marrying Pastor Rymph, Mrs. Rymph resigned her paid church-work position and began her unpaid “career” as a pastor’s wife. Together, Pastor and Mrs. Rymph had and raised four children — son Bradley Budd, daughter Carol Ann, daughter Karen Jeannine, and son Alan DeWayne. With her husband and children, the family lived in multiple Kansas communities — Copeland, Clay Center, Wichita, Kingman, Russell, El Dorado, Beloit, Dodge City, and Ulysses.

While living in Russell, Mrs. Rymph worked as a part-time librarian at the Russell Public Library. In 1981 and 1982, while living in Beloit, Mrs. Rymph studied and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. After passing the Kansas state board exams at age 52, she worked in the Long Term Care Unit of the Beloit Hospital until she resigned in anticipation of her husband being assigned to a church elsewhere in Kansas. After her husband retired from the ministry in 1989, Pastor and Mrs. Rymph moved to the Friendly Acres (later renamed Asbury Park, and now Paramount) Retirement Community in Newton, where they each lived until their deaths. As the couple aged, Ms. Rymph was able to use her skills learned as an LPN to help manage the medicines and care for her husband. Pastor Rymph died at Asbury Park on February 16, 2019.

Mrs. Rymph is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and four sisters and one brother — Mary Eleanor Heath, Charles Edward Heath, Wilma Jenette Heath, Frances Pauline (Heath) Bennett, and Rama June (Heath) Robertson. She is survived by her children, Bradley Budd Rymph (José Verzosa Baquiran) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; Carol Ann Rymph Carlson (James Wayne Carlson) of Bellevue, Nebraska; Karen Jeannine Rymph Smarsh (Thomas G. Smarsh) of Colwich, Kansas; and Alan DeWayne Rymph (Lisa Kay Jackson Rymph) of Wichita; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Edna Mae (Heath) Rymph, 93, of Newton, passed away on September 10, 2022, at Paramount Community Living and Rehab in Newton.Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, and will be open prior to the funeral service at the church.Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd, Newton, with The Rev. Donna Voteau officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 1100 E. 1st Street, Newton. Arrangements are by Petersen Family Funeral Services. The family has stipulated that masks will be required (except for preschool children) at both the visitation and the funeral.Edna Mae (Heath) Rymph was born on November 5, 1928, outside of Aurora, Lawrence County, Missouri. She was the sixth child of Cornelius (“Neal H.”) and Ethel Catherine (Bradley) Heath. As a child, she was “river baptized” by the pastor of the Methodist Protestant Church in Aurora. After graduating from Aurora High School in 1946, she became the first of her family to attend college, when she was offered a scholarship and work grant to study at National College for Christian Workers in Kansas City, Missouri. She received her B.A. in Christian Education in 1950. After graduating, she worked as the first Conference Director of Children’s Work for the Central Kansas Conference of the Methodist Church and traveled to work with Methodist congregations through central and western Kansas.Through her work with the Central Kansas Conference, she met a young man, who was studying to be a Methodist pastor in the conference. She married that man, Albert James Rymph, on September 28, 1952, in Aurora. After marrying Pastor Rymph, Mrs. Rymph resigned her paid church-work position and began her unpaid “career” as a pastor’s wife. Together, Pastor and Mrs. Rymph had and raised four children — son Bradley Budd, daughter Carol Ann, daughter Karen Jeannine, and son Alan DeWayne. With her husband and children, the family lived in multiple Kansas communities — Copeland, Clay Center, Wichita, Kingman, Russell, El Dorado, Beloit, Dodge City, and Ulysses.While living in Russell, Mrs. Rymph worked as a part-time librarian at the Russell Public Library. In 1981 and 1982, while living in Beloit, Mrs. Rymph studied and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. After passing the Kansas state board exams at age 52, she worked in the Long Term Care Unit of the Beloit Hospital until she resigned in anticipation of her husband being assigned to a church elsewhere in Kansas. After her husband retired from the ministry in 1989, Pastor and Mrs. Rymph moved to the Friendly Acres (later renamed Asbury Park, and now Paramount) Retirement Community in Newton, where they each lived until their deaths. As the couple aged, Ms. Rymph was able to use her skills learned as an LPN to help manage the medicines and care for her husband. Pastor Rymph died at Asbury Park on February 16, 2019.Mrs. Rymph is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and four sisters and one brother — Mary Eleanor Heath, Charles Edward Heath, Wilma Jenette Heath, Frances Pauline (Heath) Bennett, and Rama June (Heath) Robertson. She is survived by her children, Bradley Budd Rymph (José Verzosa Baquiran) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; Carol Ann Rymph Carlson (James Wayne Carlson) of Bellevue, Nebraska; Karen Jeannine Rymph Smarsh (Thomas G. Margaret Ann Winter, age 83, died September 7, 2022 in Newton.

Margaret was born in Ottawa, on August 19, 1939 to Lawrence and Cleo Lehman. As a child Margaret moved often, living in Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, New Mexico and Texas, where her father provided pastoral ministry.&nbsp; Margaret was a middle child suffering her older brother Lanny’s pestering and caring for her younger sister, Marti.&nbsp; In high school she was involved in many activities including an undefeated season of girl’s basketball at Shallow Water High School and competing in voice and instrumental music.&nbsp;

While on a church youth trip she met the love of her life, Bill Winter.&nbsp; Their relationship blossomed while attending McPherson college, marrying on March 25, 1961 at the McPherson Church of the Brethren. Later that year Margaret graduated with a degree in Music Education. After beginning her own family, she again helped care for siblings by traveling to Texas to care for her sister Lois, while her brother David was being born. Love of family, active involvement in the church and music were the high points and passions of her life. Her work life included music education, teaching preschool and working at a Fair Trade gift shop to support struggling artisans around the world.

Her husband Bill, son Perry and wife Juli, son Roy and wife Lisa, grandsons Jesse, Brady, Dilan, granddaughter Sadie, siblings David Lehman and Lois Larson, and many extended family members continue to be deeply touched by her love and compassion.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret Cleo Clark, father Lawrence Lehman, step-mother Thelma Lehman and her siblings Lanny Lehman and Martha Coulson.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Church of the Brethren in Wichita, on Thursday, September 22 at 11 AM. A light lunch and time for visitation will follow the service.&nbsp; &nbsp;

John Vicencio, Jr., 72, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at his home in Hutchinson.

John was born January 8, 1950, in McPherson, to John Vicencio, Sr. and Thora (Todd) Vicencio. John was raised with four older sisters, Patricia, Marian, Joan, and Delores. When John was 20 months old, he was diagnosed with Epilepsy and severe Cerebral Palsy. He was raised at home and was treated no differently than his siblings.

After the death of his parents and sister, Joan, John was transitioned into the Disability Supports program in 1999, where he has resided since that time. While at Disability Supports, he had learned to operate a computer using different programs, became a “gamer” on different systems with the help of staff and friends. He also enjoyed community outings of fishing, bowling, concerts, dances, visiting museums, fairs and living a full life with his friends and the staff at Disability Supports. Some of his biggest pleasures were coloring, Spider Man, cartoons, his magazines, trucks and anything Western; his biggest hero being “The &nbsp;Duke”. &nbsp;However, John’s biggest joy was spending time with his family during the holidays.

John is survived by his many nieces and nephews, friends, and caregivers. He was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Thora Vicencio; half-sisters, Patricia Rodriquez-Sampson and Marian Seely; sisters, Delores Houltberg and Joan Maske; nephew, Daniel Rodriquez; and a niece, Ashleigh Copeland.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 23, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Everett William Hudson, age 84, passed away at his home on Sept. 10, 2022.  He was born on Feb. 27, 1938 in rural Stafford County, the son of Lee and Helen (Stromer) Hudson. 

 He was a retired Stafford County Road Supervisor.  On July 26, 1963, he married Jo Carol Selfridge at St. John, she survives of the home.  Other survivors include a sister, Esther Mae (John) Burris, Derby.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Donald Hudson.

Richardson in Hutchinson. &nbsp;Sharry was able to travel around the globe with her family and lived in many places including San Diego, CA; Keflavik, Iceland; Honolulu, Hawaii; Treasure Island, CA; Panama; and Okinawa, Japan.&nbsp; She loved to read and work in her garden. Sharry is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dickie; a brother, Dale Harmon; two sisters, Kay Hodgson and Denise Harmon; and one grandchild. She is survived by her three children, Roger, James and Shauna Richardson; four sisters, Linda Burris, Kathy Specht, Terri Zwickl and Della Harmon; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Melvin M. (Mel) Gradert was born January 31, 1929, in Newton, at the then Axtell Hospital. He was the son of John F. Gradert and Georgia (Jorja) (porter) Gradert. He attended Newton schools through the Seventh Grade. One notable event which nearly ended his life occurred when he was ten years old. While walking from Cooper school he was run over by a Santa Fe Freight Train at the Broadway and Walnut Street crossing, but miraculously escaped with minor injuries, having fallen between the rails unconscious until the train had passed.

When his family moved to Wichita, he attended Marshall Intermediate and graduated North High School in 1947. He attended and graduated from Wichita University, and upon graduation entered the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean war. In 1956 he entered Washburn University Law School, graduating in February 1959. He was selected as Law Clerk for then United States District Judge, later 10th Circuit Judge, Dehnas Hill. He then became an assistant County Attorney in Wichita serving under Keith Sanborn, then County Attorney. Following a year as a Sedgwick County Prosecutor he was appointed Assistant United States Attorney by Robert Kennedy, serving in the Wichita Office. He later was appointed a Special Attorney General Under Robert Londerholm. He later served as Counsel to the Garvey Companies. In 1970 he returned to Newton and joined the Speir, Stroberg &amp; Sizemore Firm. In 1975 he was asked and accepted appointment as County Counselor and County Administrator for Harvey County which position, he held until 1980 when he was appointed District Judge for the Eighth Judicial District by Governor John Carlin. This required a move to Marion County, and he traveled the district which consisted of Marion, Morris, Dickinson, and Geary Counties. After Retirement he was appointed as Senior Judge where he served until 2005. He continued to hear cases as retired judge when assigned.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Janice (pierce) Gradert, son, Steven K. (DeAnn) Gradert, of Wichita, daughter, Kimberly A. Miller, San Bernardino Cal., Grandchildren; Jessica (Mike) Zacharias, and Lauren (Grant) Langhofer, and Mitchell (Katie) Gradert and Alesia and Simeon Miller. Great Grandchildren Ella, Mia Zacharias, and Fiona, Louisa Langhofer. Stepchildren; Jackie (Mike) Sigwing of Wichita, Ed (Linda) Robinson of Florence, Kevin (Janet) Robinson of Florence, and Step Grandchildren, Kelly (David) Seume of Kansas City, Jeremy (Katlyn) Robinson of Newton, KayCee (Isaac) Hett of Marion, and Krisde (Tervor) Kruse of Marion and Step Great Grandchildren, Hayden, Hallie Heidi, Henri Seume, and Kolten, Jaylee, Kenzi, Jentry Robinson. His philosophy as a Judge was that there were three things needed to do a good job as a judge, and that was patience, and patience, and patience.,. Those who practiced before him appreciated his willingness to listen. He enjoyed his work and family and laughter. One of his philosophies was to not take himself too. seriously, and he was always quick with a joke to ease tensions when necessary. He was an avid but not particularly good golfer. He was Member of Masonic Lodge 142, Newton, past member of Midian Shrine, member and Past Commander, Hillsboro Post 366, and member of American Legion Post 2 "Newton. and a member and past Exalted Ruler of Newton Lodge 706, of The BPOE Newton.

Nancy MacGregor Greenwood died on June 10, 2022 at the Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colorado. She was 91 years old. Nancy was born April 5, 1931 in Medicine Lodge, to Riley MacGrego and Alice(Martin) MacGregor. She was a retired schoolteacher. Nancy was born and grew up in Medicine Lodge. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Nancy attended the University of Kansas. She was a member of Kansas Chapter of Delta Gamma Sorority.

After graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in Art Education, she married Jack Greenwood of Kansas City, on August 7th, 1953. They moved to back to Medicine Lodge, to build their life and family. They were married for more than 61 years until Jack’s death in 2015. She was a junior high art teacher. 

Nancy was active in the community in many ways. She was a Sunday school teacher at the Methodist church and sponsor of MYF at the church. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother. A long-time participant in the Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty Pageant. Member of DAR. Lifelong and active member of the Republican Party. She was President of the Kansas Chapter Delta Chi Mothers Club. In 1986 Nancy and her husband Jack moved to Colorado. They both worked in the mortgage financial industry. She was active in the Colorado Republican party. She was a member of Cherry Creek Republican Women Club. And Cherry Creek Republican Quilters. She was a proud wife and mother. She loved her dogs and horses. Through her life she had many boxer dogs and participated in showing her boxers at AKC affiliated dog shows. She also loved to travel. She visited many of the 50 states and many countries around the globe. She was a proud American who loved her country and the blessings that come with being a U.S. citizen. Her life was blessed with the love of family and friends. And a life of laughter and faith. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack E. Greenwood. Her first-born son Riley MacGregor Greenwood. Her Parents, Riley MacGregor and Alice Martin MacGregor. Her brothers, Bill {William} MacGregor, John Jay ReQua. Sister, Comora MacGregor Nash. Sister-in-law Barbara Hagan MacGregor. Nancy is survived by her son Jack Martin (Marty) Greenwood who lives in Aurora, Colorado. Daughter-in-law Diane Blurton Greenwood of Valley Center. Grandson Jack Riley Greenwood. Her last boxer dog, Jayhawk who is cared for by her son Jack. Her beloved brother Riley Ray ReQua of Kansas. Nancy MacGregor Greenwood died on June 10, 2022 at the Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colorado. She was 91 years old. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Nancy attended the University of Kansas. She was a member of Kansas Chapter of Delta Gamma Sorority. After graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in Art Education, she married Jack Greenwood of Kansas City, on August 7th, 1953. They moved to back to Medicine Lodge, to build their life and family. They were married for more than 61 years until Jack’s death in 2015. She was a junior high art teacher. Nancy was active in the community in many ways. She was a Sunday school teacher at the Methodist church and sponsor of MYF at the church. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother. A long-time participant in the Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty Pageant. Member of DAR. Lifelong and active member of the Republican Party. She was President of the Kansas Chapter Delta Chi Mothers Club. In 1986 Nancy and her husband Jack moved to Colorado. They both worked in the mortgage financial industry. She was active in the Colorado Republican party. She was a member of Cherry Creek Republican Women Club. And Cherry Creek Republican Quilters. She was a proud wife and mother. She loved her dogs and horses. Through her life she had many boxer dogs and participated in showing her boxers at AKC affiliated dog shows. She also loved to travel. She visited many of the 50 states and many countries around the globe. She was a proud American who loved her country and the blessings that come with being a U.S. citizen. Her life was blessed with the love of family and friends. And a life of laughter and faith. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack E. Greenwood. Her first-born son Riley MacGregor Greenwood. Her Parents, Riley MacGregor and Alice Martin MacGregor. Her brothers, Bill {William} MacGregor, John Jay ReQua. Sister, Comora MacGregor Nash. Sister-in-law Barbara Hagan MacGregor. Nancy is survived by her son Jack Martin (Marty) Greenwood who lives in Aurora, Colorado. Daughter-in-law Diane Blurton Greenwood of Valley Center. Grandson Jack Riley Greenwood. Her last boxer dog, Jayhawk who is cared for by her son Jack. Her beloved brother Riley Ray ReQua of Kansas. And many nieces and nephews of an extended family across the many corners of Kansas and America. Larry T. Hart 84, died September 4, 2022 at his Newton residence.&nbsp; He was born November 3, 1937 in Nashville, to Eldon E. and Lois (Martindale) Hart.&nbsp; On August 31, 1958 he married Nancy J. Koch and she survives of the home.

Larry lived on a farm near Maud, and when he was 5 years old moved to Pratt where he attended public school and college.&nbsp; He worked at the Calbeck furniture and music store while in school.&nbsp; He later worked sales for BF Goodrich before becoming a business representative at Southwestern Bell.&nbsp; Larry moved to Wichita in the early 60’s with Southwestern Bell. After that he joined Royal Business Machines as a typewriter/calculator technician, before working for and then becoming co-owner of Janzen Business Machines with his wife.&nbsp; While running the company he sold and serviced business machines throughout South Central Kansas and had a large clientele in Wichita and the area school districts.

He was a member of the Methodist church, Masonic Lodge 99 and the Scottish Rite Temple in Wichita.

Larry was known as a very gracious and kind person who also had a really fun sense of humor.&nbsp; He had a beautiful bass voice and sang the most gorgeous acapella rendition of “Amazing Grace”.&nbsp; In school he played 1st&nbsp;chair trumpet and people requested he play taps at many funerals.&nbsp; One of Larry’s favorite pastimes was water skiing and he skied well into his 60’s. &nbsp;Tablerock lake was a favorite vacation spot.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; son Tim Hart and his wife Debbie; daughter Kristi Berning and her husband Rex. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, brother Eldon Hart, Jr., and sister Marilyn Hubert.

David loved growing flowers and bird watching.&nbsp; He met a lifetime goal of building his family home.&nbsp; Besides his horses, most of all, David loved his family, his wife Susan, daughter Sarah, son-in-law Danny, all his grandchildren, and his dogs, Lola and Billie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Lawrence, his step-father, Donald Sucht, and sister, Tammy Lavon Lawrence.&nbsp;

Danny Lee Brunsell, 60, of Lindsborg passed away, Friday, September 9, 2022 at home in Lindsborg.  Danny was born December 15, 1961 in Hutchinson. He was adopted by the late DeLon and the late Virginia (Coleman) Brunsell.  

Danny graduated high school and attended Colby Community College.  He worked as a rural mail carrier and farmer.  Danny had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, especially to, out of the way, places and countries.   

Survivors include his brother: Dean Brunsell (Jan) of Salina; twin brother: Daryl Brunsell (Sandra) of Lindsborg; as well as numerous extended family members.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister: Janita Gregoire.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14 from 5-7p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

Lulu Irene (Forbenius) Swenson – Lulu “Lou” died September 7, 2022 at the Bethany Home at the age of 92. She was born near Linconville, on September 8, 1929, the fourth child of Karl and Katherine (Beisel) Forbenius. 

Lou was raised on the family homestead with her two older brothers, older sister and one younger sister. Growing up she was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church. She attended Lincolnville Elementary School and graduated from Lincolnville High School. After graduation, Lou moved to McPherson. 

She married Raynold Swenson on April 16, 1949, and was married for 56 years until Raynold’s passing in 2005. She and Raynold had two children, son Dale and daughter Debra, and five grandchildren, Damian, Danyel, Jessica, Katie and Kendal.

Lou worked in the medical field most of her adult life, starting in 1959 through 1967, she worked for the Lindsborg Community Hospital. In 1967, she started working for Dr. Murfitt, where she remained for 17 years. In 1984, after a brief stent at the Bethany Home, she returned to the hospital where she worked in home health until her retirement. Lou enjoyed her work and cared for many people in the Lindsborg community. In her retirement, Lou helped run the TACOL thrift store for many years.

Lou was a child of God and served him in many ways. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday and Bible School. She enjoyed teaching and working with the children of the church. 

Lou was a competitive person, it didn’t matter if it was cards, sports or Wii bowling, she played to win. She played on several softball teams as a pitcher, and competed in the women’s league at the Lindsborg Bowling Center. After “retiring” from participating in sports, Lou watched from the stands, as she traveled to various sporting events watching her grandchildren play football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and track and field. She was a fan of baseball and often watched the Chicago Cubs on WGN. Lou enjoyed the outdoors, and would often take the grandkids fishing, where she was never afraid to bait a hook or take a fish off. She was also a lover of music, everything from George Jones, to the Lawrence Welk Show, to Gospel, but she was partial to the music heard while attending all of her grandchildren’s choir and band concerts.

Lou was proceeded in death by her husband, Raynold, parents Karl and Katherine, brothers Marion and E. Dean Forbenius, sisters Ruth Forbenius and Betty Beneke and son-in-law, Tony Patterson.

Lou is survived by son, Dale (Julie) Swenson, daughter Debra Patterson, and grandchildren: Damian Vosburg, Danyel Patterson, Jessica Patterson, Katie Swenson (Mike and Sydney), and Kendal Swenson (Amber).

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful people from Kindred Hospice and the Bethany Home for their compassion and loving care of Lou over the final days of her life.

A longtime resident of Inman, he farmed and worked for Certainteed, retiring after 35 years.&nbsp;

James was a member of Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church, was a huge sports enthusiast, enjoyed reading and baking, and especially loved time with his family and grandkids.

He married Kathleen J. Ediger on March 28, 1964, in Inman.&nbsp; She passed away on September 21, 2011.

Survivors include a son, Rustin (Michelle) Lafferty, Inman; 3 daughters, Kara Lafferty, Arizona, Dana Lafferty, Overland Park, and Lora (Kenyon) Thornburg, Olathe; 2 grandchildren, Marlee and Maddie Thornburg, Olathe; 2 brothers, Keith Lafferty, Inman and Bob Lafferty, Georgia; and a sister, Viola Cooper, McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Doris Richards and Sharon Lafferty.

Sara “Emily” Hughes, 99, of Hesston, died September 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born February 14, 1923, in Penalosa, to Floyd and Ruth (Allen) Hobbs.

Emily attended Langdon High School. She worked as an overseas operator for Southwestern Bell in Wichita during World War II and later made custom-made draperies for JC Penney in Hutchinson. Emily was the credit manager at Hutchinson Hospital for 42 years, retiring in 1988. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many activities including collecting antiques, making Teddy bears and doll clothes, weaving rugs, and researching genealogy. Emily was of the Christian faith.

She married Norman Buck and they had one son, David. Emily later married Jessie L. “Tex” Hughes and they had one daughter, Judy Margo. He died August 19, 1990.

She is survived by: her children, David and Tony Buck of San Diego, CA, and Judy Margo Parsons of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Heidi Buck and Jeff Ploetner of San Diego, Rachel and Bill Wright of Derby, Charla and Dan Heddin of Moundridge, Brad and Emily Buscher of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Clary Ploetner, Kole Wright, Gage Wright, Max and Tiffany Heddin, Veronica and Landon Brandt, Ruth and Nathan Bashore, Luke Buscher, Abigail Buscher; and great-great-grandchildren, Jonah Heddin, Lilah Heddin, Elijah Brandt, and Cooper Brandt.

Leslie “Randal” Baugh was born August 29, 1950, in Hutchinson, to two loving parents, Harold and Phyllis Baugh. He passed away on September 8, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Wichita.

Randal was raised in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. He attended Hutchinson Community College, playing basketball under legendary coach, Gene Keady. Randal served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War in 1971. He began his career as a truck driver for Krause Plow (formerly) for over 25 years. Randal retired from driving in 2020, after several years as an independent contractor. He was known and loved for his quick wit, infectious smile, strong work ethic, and love for his family. Randal loved spending time with his loved ones and talking about sports and life.

He raised three sons with Sheri Lynn: Jason, Marques, and DeAndre Baugh.

Randal is survived by: his children, Jason, Marques, and Deandre Baugh; brothers, Ricky and Roger; sister, Roxanne; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Ruth; and nephews, Xavier and Todd Baugh.

His legacy will be carried on by his 5 loving grandchildren who loved their papa very much.

His life will be celebrated and honored at 11 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Elliott Chapel, with a celebration of life to follow at the Homebuilder’s Shelter in Carey Park.

Leslie “Randal” Baugh was born August 29, 1950, in Hutchinson, to two loving parents, Harold and Phyllis Baugh. He passed away on September 8, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Wichita.Randal was raised in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. He attended Hutchinson Community College, playing basketball under legendary coach, Gene Keady. Randal served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War in 1971. He began his career as a truck driver for Krause Plow (formerly) for over 25 years. Randal retired from driving in 2020, after several years as an independent contractor. He was known and loved for his quick wit, infectious smile, strong work ethic, and love for his family. Linda’s life began on September 13, 1950, in Aurora, IL. She is the daughter of Dolly and Howard Humphrey. 

Linda worked as a CNA. She also worked in the mobile home manufacturing business and as a rancher. Linda loved old movies, especially Godzilla movies and collected dragon figurines. She was a pet lover with two cats and a dog. 

She is survived by her son Christopher (April Diehl) Moyer of White City, grandson Clarence (Briannah) Lewis, great grandchildren Annabelle, Clarence Jr. and Christian. Linda passed away at her home on Friday September 9, 2022. She is preceded by her parents and two spouses Donald Moyer and John Shope. 

Her family will gather with friends on Saturday September 17, 2022, from 1-3 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. She will be laid to rest at a later date in White City Cemetery.&nbsp;

Ines Maria Weigel, 86, died September 3, 2022, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born May 24, 1936, in Benghazi, Libya to Agostino and Elda (Pavoni) Filippi.

Ines worked at the 4th&nbsp;street Dillon’s in the produce and meat department for many years. She enjoyed golf outings with her lady’s group, traveling, and volunteering at the Soup Kitchen. Ines was ornery, fun to be around, and always shared what was on her mind; she had a great sense of humor. Ines was an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother, and consistently supporting her grandchildren in their school activities and sports. She was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. She was a woman of good faith and took pride in that.

On September 21, 1957, she married the love of her life, Herbert James “Herb” Weigel, Jr., in Tripoli, Libya.

Ines is survived by: her husband of almost 65 years, Herb of Hutchinson; daughters Susan Weigel-Wise of Hutchinson, Debbie Gray of Shawnee, Cindy Cook of Hutchinson, and Missy Pint of Lenexa. Her grandchildren: Rachel Joshi, Tanner Gray, Jenna Gray, Lexi Pint, Riley Pint, Ava Walter, Alex Wise, Hayley Wise, and Jordan Cook, her eight great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Taylor and Sheila Rohl.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Anna Stevens; brother, Sandro Filippi; and sister-in-law, Susie Ruder.

Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary. Private graveside service will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Friends may come from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Elliott Chapel, with the family present to greet friends following the Rosary from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Vernon James Stiverson, 97, long time resident of Maize, passed away April 28, 2022 in Colwich.&nbsp; He was born in Irving, November 2, 1924, the second son of James R. Stiverson and Julia M. (Frank) Stiverson. &nbsp;A veteran of WWII, he spent many years as an office supply salesman, retiring from Southwestern Office Supply in 1989.&nbsp; He subsequently worked for USD 266, spending much of his time meticulously marking football, baseball and softball fields.&nbsp; He was a man dedicated to his family, church and community.&nbsp; He loved fishing, taking care of his yard and was a big fan of the Shockers, Chiefs and Royals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard and granddaughter Jennifer D. (Stiverson) Germann.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 76 years Nona M. (Weller) Stiverson, daughter Janis (Stiverson) Clements of Moore, OK, son Richard J. Stiverson (Debbie) of Maize, son Roger E. Stiverson (Cindy) of Wichita, 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center, on May 9th&nbsp;from 5 to 7 P.M.&nbsp; Services will be held at Maize United Methodist Church, May 10th&nbsp;at 10:30 a.m.
