William Julius “Bill” Norris |1936-2023|

William Julius “Bill” Norris, 86, died February 2, 2023, at his home. He was born October 8, 1936, in Colquitt Georgia, to James and Minnie (Giddins) Norris.

Bill joined the United States Navy when he was 17 years old and completed his training at the Hutchinson Air Naval Station, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was stationed in Kodiak Island, Alaska. Following his service Bill returned to Hutchinson and worked for Cessna / Eaton for over 40 years, and later at Wal Mart. He loved fishing and a taking motorcycle trips to Florida and Arkansas. Bill enjoyed relaxing in front of the television, especially to watch a western.

On April 2, 1982, he married Carol Jean Weber, in Hutchinson. They shared 35 years of marriage before her passing on August 29, 2017.

Bill is survived by: son, Brad Norris, Hutchinson; daughter, Cindy Harder, Hutchinson; step daughter, Beth Sheppard, Hutchinson; step son, Scott Sheppard, Liberty, Missouri; sisters, Bettie Sue Stewart, Elaine Wimberly, Jimmie Ann Carrol, Eva Carol Ballard, all of Florida; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Carol; daughter, Bonnie; sister Wanita Norris; and brothers, Ernest Ferrel and Marlin Norris.

Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 10, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
