Joanne Berblinger Arie, 97, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away February 5, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, Kansas.

She was born May 17, 1925, in Offerle, Kansas, the daughter of Oscar and Ethel Hedges Laudick. Joanne has resided in Buhler since 2015, formerly of Lyons. She was homemaker, bookkeeper for Pepsi Cola, Lyons, and a clerk for both Purdy Jewelers and the Lyons Office Supply. Joanne was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, and the St. Paul Altar Society.

She volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, Lyons Food Bank, and the Rice County Women’s Thrift Store. Joanne served on the Bell and Star Committee in Lyons. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and oil painting.

In 1942, Joanne was united in marriage with Frederick Berblinger in Lyons. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1971. On February 4, 1977, Joanne was united in marriage with LaVern Harley Arie in Lyons. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2005. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Frederick Alan Berblinger and Jan Albert Berblinger; son-in-law, Eldon Colson Sr.; three brothers, Jack Laudick, Bob Laudick, and Mike Laudick; three sisters, Ellen Hawkins, Peggy Haas, and Patsy Baker; and a great-grandson, Wiley Colson.

Joanne is survived by her three children, Phyllis Colson of Lyons, KS, Leslie Berblinger and wife Susan of Goddard, KS, and Jon Berblinger and wife Krista of Goddard, KS; four step-children, Cheryl Peterie, Kenneth Arie, David Arie, and Tonny Arie; ten grandchildren, Candi Almquist and husband Bruce, Diane Staples and husband Wes, J.R. Colson and wife Marilla, Teresa Schafer and husband Adam, Wesley Colson and wife Carol, Kylie Piper and husband Jon, Colton Berblinger, Jeff Berblinger, Jeremy Berblinger, and Joni Stoltz; twenty great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with Father Michael Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 10, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, with family present. A parish rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the Bell and Star Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
