John D Wingo 78, died Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his Newton residence. He was born March 2, 1945 in Newton, Kansas to Raymond and Margaret (Kasper) Wingo. On December 30, 1990 he married Rita Enns at Newton and she survives of the home.
John was a United States Navy Veteran and Longtime member of the First Christian Church in Newton. He retired from the BNSF railroad.
He is survived by his wife Rita of the home; Son Thomas "Tom" Wingo; daughter Amy Hopper; Step daughters Wendi Hillis and Kelly Klipple; brother Gene Wingo; sisters Virginia Moon and Betty Swafford. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Donna Perez.
Memorial service with Navy Honors will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27th at First Christian Church in Newton with Pastor Gary Bell presiding. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the Church.
