MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Ugonna Onyenso came off the bench to score 16 points in 12 minutes and Kansas State shook off a poor first half to beat Mississippi Valley State 74-56 on Tuesday night.

On a night the Wildcats (3-1) shot just 36%, Onyenso was 6 of 7 from the floor and made all four of his free throws. C.J. Jones scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half. David N’Guessan added 10 points while Coleman Hawkins, who was just 1-of-11 shooting with two points, grabbed 13 rebounds.

Arthur Tate scored 16 points and Antonio Sisk 15 for the Delta Devils (1-4).

The Wildcats led 25-23 at halftime, having been up by as many as 14, after shooting just 29% and 1 of 13 from 3-point range. They finished 3 of 23 from the arc but hit 25 of 27 free throws.

Brenden Hausen, averaging over 15 points a game for Kansas State, got his first points of the game and the Wildcats' first of the second half with a 3-pointer, and that started a 10-0 run. The lead reached 19 with seven minutes to go.

Mississippi Valley State made a final run to get within 10 but the Wildcats responded with nine straight points, the last four by N'Guessan, to push the lead back to 19.

In the first half, the Delta Devils got a pair of 3-pointers from Tate and five points from Donovan Sanders to outscore the Wildcats 16-4 over the final 4 1/2 minutes to tie before David Castillo's jumper at the end of the half gave the lead back to the Wildcats.

Cameron, 25, split last season between Double-A Northwest Arkansas (16 starts) and Triple-A Omaha (9), and went 7-6 with a 3.08 ERA (44 ER in 128.2 IP) and 149 strikeouts, pacing all Royals minor leaguers in strikeouts while finishing with the 3rd-lowest ERA. He was crowned the International League Pitcher of the Month in August after he combined to go 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA (6 ER in 31.2 IP) and 36 strikeouts across 5 starts (his first full month with Omaha). In three seasons with the Royals organization, he has pitched to a 3.97 ERA (133 ER in 301.2 IP) while striking out 380 batters (11.3 K/9, 29.9 K%) in 68 starts. A graduate of Central High School in St. Joseph, Mo., he was selected in the 7th round of the 2021 MLB Draft from the University of Central Arkansas, and signed by scout&nbsp;Matt Price.

Avila, 23, has spent each of his first six professional seasons in the Royals organization, reaching as high as Triple-A Omaha in 2024. COLBY, Kan. – The final Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Football Player of the Week honors have been announced with Hutchinson’s Waymond Jordan Jr. (Offensive), Kedrick Walker (Defensive), and Butler’s Chevy Edwards (Special Teams) each earning the final awards of the season.

Offensive Player of the Week (Waymond Jordan Jr. - Hutchinson) -Waymond Jordan Jr., a sophomore running back from Pensacola, Florida, posted his eighth 100-yard rushing game of the season and jumped four spots on the Blue Dragon single-season rushing list to No. 7 in number two Hutchinson's 42-17 win over Garden City. For the game, Jordan rushed 22 times for 135 yards and one touchdown. Now with 1,332 yards for the season, the NJCAA's leading rusher moved into seventh place on the Blue Dragon single-season rushing list and is tied with Alvin Kamara for second in single-season rushing touchdowns with 18.

Defensive Player of the Week (Kedrick Walker - Hutchinson) –Sophomore linebacker Kedrick Walker had a career-high nine tackles in leading the number two ranked Blue Dragons defensively in a 42-17 victory over Garden City on Saturday. Walker had seven solo tackles and a key tackle on a Garden City fourth-down play in the first half with the game tied at 7-7.

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–&nbsp;Kansas State junior&nbsp;DJ Giddens&nbsp;was one of 10 running backs in the country – including four from the Big 12 – to be named a semifinalist for the 2024 Doak Walker Award, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Tuesday.

Giddens is the fourth player in school history to be named a semifinalist or finalist for the award that recognizes the top running back in college football. Darren Sproles was a finalist in 2003, while Daniel Thomas (2010) and Deuce Vaughn (2021 and 2022) were each semifinalists.

A product of Junction City, Kansas, Giddens has rushed for 1,128 yards and five touchdowns on 176 carries in addition to hauling in 18 catches for 219 yards and another score. He ranks eighth in the country in scrimmage yards per game (134.70), ninth in total rushing yards, 10th&nbsp;in all-purpose yards per game (134.70) and 15th&nbsp;in rushing yards per carry (6.41).

Giddens is the fourth player in school history to record multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons, joining the aforementioned Sproles (2002, 2003, 2004), Thomas (2009, 2010) and Vaughn (2021, 2022). He ranks second in school history in single-season rushing yards per carry (6.41), sixth in rushing yards per game (112.8) and tied for eighth in 100-yard rushing games (6), while he is 98 rushing yards shy of entering the single-season top-10 list and 13 yards away from tying for fifth in school history among juniors.

Three finalists for the 2024 Doak Walker Award will be announced next Tuesday, and the winner will be unveiled live on ESPN during&nbsp;The Home Depot College Football Awards&nbsp;on December 12. 🏈 K-State’s Giddens named semifinalist for Doak Walker Award

WICHITA, Kan. — Sometimes you just have to win ugly, and that's just what happened Monday night in Charles Koch Arena as Wichita State overcame its worst game of the season to complete a comeback win over Monmouth, 70-66.

Wichita State (4-0) was without starting center Quincy Ballard who missed the game with a sprained ankle, and Ronnie DeGray III got banged up in the first half, playing just eight minutes. Without two of its top rebounders, Wichita State was outrebounded by seven on the night, it largest margin of the season.

Eleven of Monmouth's 41 rebounds came on the offensive end.

Players not named Corey Washington were a combined 0-for-11 from three-point range. Washington scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting, 2-for-4 from three and 4-for-8 from the free throw line.

Entering the night Wichita State was shooting nearly 78 percent from the free throw line, but had its worst night of the season, going 20-for-31 (64.5 percent).

Harlond Beverly finished with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals on 7-of-11 shooting. Matej Bosnjak made his first career start in place of Ballard and logged 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting. Xavier Bell was the lone Shocker not to miss a free throw, going 8-for-8. He finished with 12 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Justin Hill had an off night, missing all four of his three-point attempts and 8-of-12 field goals overall. He still managed to reach double figures with 11 and five assists.

From the opening tip the Shockers just seemed flat, falling behind 9-3 right out of the gates. They would settle in briefly to take a 15-11 lead with 12:06 remaining, but would not make a field goal for nearly 11 minutes. A Beverly layup with 1:14 to go in the half tied the score at 28-28 to snap the field goal drought.

On the next offensive possession, Hill and Beverly connected on the first of two alley-oops on the night to go up by one with 33 seconds left. Monmouth, however, would come right down and hit a jumper in the paint to give the Hawks a 31-30 lead at halftime.

Monmouth would carry that momentum into the second half, extending its lead to seven at the 14:34 mark.

The Hawks led for a majority of the half until back-to-back dunks from Beverly and Washington gave Wichita State its first lead with 4:39 to go. That lead quickly disappeared behind four straight from the Hawks to take a 58-56 lead.

Finally Washington's second triple of the night broke a 59-59 tie and just 1:39 on the clock, giving the Shockers a lead that they would not surrender. Washington pushed the margin to five on a breakaway dunk just 30 seconds later and Bosnjak made it a 65-59 game on a pair of free throws.

Monmouth splashed in a three-pointer with 26 seconds left, but Wichita State converted at the line to ice the game in the final seconds.

Wichita State heads to Kansas City for the Hall of Fame Classic where they will face Saint Louis on Friday, Nov. 22 at 9:30 p.m. on Peacock.

🏀 Shocker men win Monday

MANHATTAN, Kan. — K-State featured four players in double figures as the Wildcats dropped Little Rock, 73-43, at Bramlage Coliseum on Monday night.

With the victory, K-State women's basketball secured its 400th all-time win inside Bramlage Coliseum (400-156; .719).

Senior Ayoka Lee registered her first double-double of the season and the 61st of her career with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting with 11 rebounds and two steals in 14 minutes of action. With her 16 points, Lee passed Nicole Ohlde (2000-04; 2,241) for second in school history for career points with 2,245.

Matching Lee for game-high honors was sophomore guard Zyanna Walker with a career-high 16 points to go with a game-high six assists.

Junior Eliza Maupin and sophomore Taryn Sides each registered 10 points pacing a Wildcat bench effort of 32 total points. Maupin hauled in eight rebounds, while Sides added six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

- K-State (4-0) closed the first quarter with an 11-0 run to build a 23-13 lead. Trailing 13-12 with 1:57 remaining, Gisela Sanchez buried a corner 3-pointer and was followed by Lee with an old-fashioned 3-point play. Lee then finished an offensive rebound with a putback and Zyanna Walker capped the scoring with an acrobatic layup and free throw.

- Little Rock (1-3) was held to 13.3 percent (2-of-15) shooting in the second quarter, as the Wildcats built a 41-23 lead at halftime.

- In the third quarter, the Wildcats held the Trojans to nine points on 21.4 percent (3-of-14) shooting to hold a 55-32 lead entering the final stanza. Six different Wildcats scored in the third frame.

- K-State outscored Little Rock 15-4 in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter to build a 70-36 lead with 4:56 remaining. Maupin and Walker led the scoring during the run, as Maupin tallied six points, while Walker carded five.

- The Wildcats registered a 21-2 advantage in second chance points on Monday night. This was the second time this season K-State carded 20 or more second chance points, trailing the 23 against Green Bay in the season-opener.

- K-State ended the night with a 58-36 advantage on the glass.

- The Wildcats shot 41.1 percent (30-of-73) from the field and held Little Rock to a 23.3 percent (14-of-60) performance.

- K-State leads the series with Little Rock, 5-1. The Wildcats are 19-2 against current members of the Ohio Valley Conference.

With her 117th career start at K-State, Lee ties Eileen Feeney (1976-80) and Ashley Sweat (2006-10) for 8th in program history for career starts.

- The Wildcats held a 41-23 lead at halftime on Monday. Under Mittie, K-State is 154-19 (.890) when leading at halftime. The Wildcats have led at the half in all four games this season.

- K-State has scored 20-or more points in a quarter eight times this season. Since the start of the quarter-system in 2015-16, the Wildcats are 136-62 (.687) when scoring 20 or more points in any quarter of a game.

I thought [Taryn] Sides played well, [Eliza] Maupin came in and contributed, and Imani Lester had a good showing. From the starting group, I felt [Zyanna] Walker was the most engaged on both ends of the floor, and she was rewarded with a solid performance tonight. Those were definitely the bright spots for us."

"I didn't feel like that group played very well, and that can't become a habit. You only get so many opportunities, and I didn't think they were very engaged or showed much urgency. That's definitely something that needs to change. I'll take a closer look to see if there's a reason behind it, but from my perspective, the lack of urgency hurt us. It seemed to lead to some missed shots—especially a lot of missed layups early on—which really snowballed. The only player who seemed to snap out of it was [Zyanna] Walker. [Ayoka Lee] had some moments, but Walker was the one who stood out."

On Zyanna Walker's impressive performance…

"From a leadership standpoint, I thought she was the most engaged. Defensively, she seemed the most locked in to her role, and I think her offensive game came from that. She got a steal and made some plays, which helped her build momentum. The rest just seemed to struggle to get going defensively."

On some of the concerns from today's game…

"Too many free throws for them—11 in the first half. I hate to come in here and sound negative, but I'm not going to praise mediocrity either. I need to be honest with you. I can't say something was good when, in reality, it wasn't. That said, there were some positives. I thought we had spurts where we played well. We did a good job on Faith Lee, [Tamira] Poindexter got off to a strong start in that matchup. But foul trouble with [Jaelyn] Glenn and [Ayoka Lee] was a problem, and those are things that have to improve. There's definitely a lot to be concerned about coming out of this game."

"I thought [Eliza] Maupin improved as her rotation went on. Early on, she wasn't as active as I'd like, but as her minutes increased, she made an impact—getting on the offensive glass and finding the right dives to the rim. Those were really positive things. [Imani] Lester came in and was very efficient, she ends up with seven boards in just 13 minutes, which was great to see. As for Taryn, she didn't shoot the ball particularly well, but she seemed to find a better offensive rhythm, moving the ball to the right players. That was a real positive for her. Keep in mind, Taryn hasn't had much practice time because of her ankle, so this was her first extended stretch of minutes. In practice, we've had to keep things short for her, so it was good to see her getting into a rhythm out there."

On moving into second on K-State's all-time scoring list…

"Yeah, pretty cool. Yeah it's exciting. Yeah, I didn't really know what was going on, so it's cool, yeah." 

On how Zyanna has improved this season… 

"I think she's really stepped up just as a vocal leader this year a little bit more. I think she kind of has to be as a point guard. I think she's really embraced that role well, because it's just not an easy role to be in. I think she's really improved her pull up game, like just looking for mid-range. I thought last year she did, and she still does a great job getting to the rim. But like hunting the mid-range and knowing that that's also a really good shot for her, I think, has been a really big difference. And then I think just like the hustle plays, I think that's one thing that she just continues to do well is give us energy when we need it, and give us a big lift through how she hustles."

On the play of Eliza Maupin and Imani Lester…

"I thought they played really well. I thought Eliza cut really well, and I thought she finished really well. And same for Imani, I thought that they both found the open spots, and they were both in the right spots when they needed to be. I think that's really encouraging, and definitely just will continue to build off that."

"No, I think I just came in with the same mindset, just attack and, people are going to have off nights, so you got to get it taken care of. It was actually kind of weird that so many people were kind of, you know, a little off at the same time, but still got the job done. That's going to happen. So hopefully we're just saving it for Vegas." 

On scoring 70+ points even on an off night…

"I think it just shows that we can use our defense to turn into offense. I think we got out in transition a little bit that second half, and that really helped us."

"I think the most improvement I made in my game is kind of just my passing and ball handling. I'm feeling more comfortable at the one and just being confident in my shot, you know, being confident that it is going to go in, and if it doesn't, so what, I'm still going to shoot it again. 

"Just every day, I just wake up with the same routine and make sure I get in a positive mindset. And I think it's very important to us as athletes that we have that confidence and that it is instilled in us. So, yeah, I just try to make it a daily routine for me."

Hours after a piece of the roof fell to the field before the game, the Cowboys dropped to 0-5 at home this season with a 34-10 loss to the Houston Texans on Monday night. Dallas has lost its first five home games for the first time since 1989. That was the first season Jerry Jones owned the Cowboys, and they were 1-15 while not winning any of their eight games game at old Texas Stadium. They have lost six in a row at AT&amp;T Stadium when including that playoff debacle against the Green Bay Packers in January.

NHL referee Mitch Dunning communicative, can move extremities following violent collision

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — NHL referee Mitch Dunning is fully communicative and can move all his extremities following a violent collision with Colorado defenseman Josh Manson in Monday night's game at Philadelphia. The NHL said Dunning was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons and that all neurological signs are normal. Manson skated alone on the ice when he slammed into Dunning early in the first period. Dunning went down in a heap and lay prone on the ice for several minutes. Dunning appeared to be moving his feet and moved his right hand when Manson went to talk to him.

Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight draws record betting for a combat sports event

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jake Paul's unanimous victory over former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson might have been disappointing from a competitive standpoint, but it drew record betting. BetMGM says the fight between the YouTube star and the 58-year-old Tyson was its most-bet boxing or mixed-martial arts fight. The sportsbook took three times the number of bets and four times the money of any combat sport in BetMGM's history. A Caesars Entertainment spokesperson compared the amount of betting to that on an NFL game.

Giants bench QB Daniel Jones and will start Tommy DeVito against the Bucs

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Daniel Jones' tenure as the New York Giants' starting quarterback is over. The Giants benched the struggling 27-year-old on Monday, and coach Brian Daboll plans to start fan favorite Tommy DeVito against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week in an attempt to end a five-game losing streak. Not only was Jones benched, Daboll said he will be the No. 3 quarterback for the final seven games, while fellow veteran Drew Lock remains the backup.

Ex-NBA stars Carter, McGrady part of group seeking to buy stake in Buffalo Bills, AP source says

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Former NBA stars Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady are part of a group being considered by the NFL to purchase a non-controlling minority stake in the Buffalo Bills. That's according to a person with knowledge of the league finance committee's agenda. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the league didn't release the agenda for the committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday. The committee will also consider Ares Management's bid to buy 10% of the Miami Dolphins. The person says Carter, McGrady and MLS player Jozy Altidore have joined Gridiron Capital managing partner Tom Burger in a consortium seeking to buy a 10.6% share of the Bills.

Trump thinks he can fix golf's mess. He starts by playing golf with PGA Tour commissioner

President-elect Donald Trump has said it would take about 15 minutes to sort out golf's mess. That started with four hours on the golf course with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. The PGA Tour confirmed a Washington Post report that Monahan accepted Trump's invitation to play golf last Friday. The tour did not share what was discussed at Trump International Golf Club in South Florida. The tour has been negotiating with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia about becoming an investor. PIF is the financial muscle of LIV Golf, which has taken away key players from the PGA Tour.

Lakers to honor former coach Pat Riley with a statue outside their downtown arena

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers will honor former coach Pat Riley with a statue outside their downtown arena. The Lakers announced Monday that they have commissioned a statue to stand in Star Plaza immortalizing the coach who won four championships with the "Showtime" Lakers of the 1980s. Riley also won championships with the Lakers as a player and an assistant coach. Riley has been part of the Miami Heat as a coach and executive for nearly three decades, but his roots in the NBA are with the Lakers. He played for Los Angeles from 1970 to 1975.

Pulisic scores twice, US beats Jamaica 4-2 for 5-2 aggregate win in CONCACAF Nations League QF

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Christian Pulisic scored twice in the first half, Tim Weah got a goal in his return to the U.S. national team from a red card and the Americans beat Jamaica 4-2 for a 5-2 aggregate win in their CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal. Playing their first competitive matches under coach Mauricio Pochettino, the United States advanced to a semifinal on March 20 at Inglewood, California. The Americans won the first three editions of the tournament. Pulisic scored in the 13th and 33rd minutes, giving him 33 international goals.

Saturday's 42-17 victory over Garden City had a very positive effect for the Hutchinson Community College football team in Monday's release of the NJCAA Division I Rankings.

The 9-1 Blue Dragons are now in sole possession of second place in the latest rankings. Last week, Hutchinson and Georgia Military were tied for second with 135 poll points each.

The new poll had the Blue Dragons firmly in second place with 138 points. Hutchinson earned two first-place votes this week. Georgia Military (10-1), which completed its regular season last week, is third with 129 points and Mississippi champion Northwest Mississippi is fourth. Iowa Western remained in the top spot after a narrow 21-14 win on Saturday at Highland.

The top four teams in the national rankings receive bids to play in the NJCAA National Playoffs, with the top two teams in the poll earning home games.

There is one week left in the regular season and just two games are on the schedule … Coffeyville played at Butler in a weather-make-up game in El Dorado. Then, No. 6 Navarro plays at No. 7 Tyler in the SWJCFC Championship game.

Now ranked in 46-straight polls, the current run of consecutive appearances is the longest in program history. The previous longest run was 45 set from 2010 to 2013.

The Dragons have been ranked the nation's Top 3 for 42 consecutive polls.

The Blue Dragons defeated the Kansas Wesleyan JV (85-54) and Redlands (81-59) in the Barton Classic this weekend to bump their record to 6-0, extending their winning streak to 43 games.

This week the Dragons open Jayhawk Conference play with a pair of road tests at Barton (4-2) and Fort Hays Tech Northwest (0-4), formerly known as Northwest Kansas Tech at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday in Goodland.

The Top 11 teams from last week all won last weeks and stayed exactly the save. No. 12 Cochise was the highest-ranked women's team to lose last week and fell to No. 16.

The Top 5 remains Hutchinson, Northwest Tech, New Mexico Junior College, Wabash Valley and Gulf Coast State.

The KJCCC is well represented this week. Dodge City remains No. 9 and Butler jumps into the rankings at No. 24.

The Blue Dragons have now been ranked No. 1 in seven consecutive polls dating back to last season. They have appeared in 17 consecutive rankings dating back to the first regular-season poll of the 2023-24 season.

Five members of the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned post-season recognition as members of the 2024 All-KJCCC Division I/All-Region 6 Volleyball teams.

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wvball/2024-25/bios/murphy_mckenzie_tghh">McKenzie Murphy</a>&nbsp;and freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wvball/2024-25/bios/proctor_atlyn_7f6g">Atlyn Proctor</a>&nbsp;were named to the all-KJCCC/Region 6 second team. Freshmen Addy Foster and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wvball/2024-25/bios/simmons_tiana_pzqy">Tiana Simmons</a>&nbsp;and sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wvball/2024-25/bios/wilson_shelbi_f4d1">Shelbi Wilson</a>&nbsp;were honorable mention selections.

<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wvball/2024-25/bios/murphy_mckenzie_tghh">McKenzie Murphy</a>&nbsp;– 2nd Team Murphy, a sophomore middle blocker from Fort Scott, was Hutchinson's leading blocker in 2024 with 1.06 blocks per set. She averaged 1.22 blocks per set against KJCCC competition this season.

Her 152 blocks this season ranked 15th in team single-season history. Murphy's 297 career blocks rank sixth in program history.

Offensively, Murphy hit .247 and averaged 1.24 kills per set. She had a season-high nine kills against both Cloud County and Seward County. She posted season highs of eight blocks against Neosho County and Pratt.

Murphy is a two-year all-KJCCC selection. She was honorable mention all-conference as a freshman in 2023.

Proctor averaged 2.96 kills per set on 1.85 hitting. Proctor also averaged 0.74 dogs and 0.39 blocks per set.

Proctor reached double figures in kills 21 times, breaking the 20-kill mark three. She had 22 kills on .288 hitting against Vincennes University at the Cardinal Classic in Park Hills, Missouri. She had 21 kills on a season-high .459 attack percentage against Pratt. Proctor also tallied 21 kills on .457 hitting against Butler.

Proctor posted five double-doubles this season, getting a season-high 18 digs against the Friends JV.

Addy Foster – Honorable Mention Foster, a freshman libero from Derby, set a Blue Dragon freshman record for digs and ended up No. 2 on Hutchinson's single-season digs list.

Foster racked up 664 total digs this season, averaging 4.54 digs per set. Those 664 digs were second on the single-season list to Mariana Blum's 731 in 2004. Foster's 4.54 digs-per-set average ranked sixth overall and third on the freshman list.

Foster had double figures in digs in 36 or 40 matches this season. She had eight matches surpassing 20 digs, including a season-high 28 digs against Vincennes University on October 11. Foster had 25 digs in a five-setter against Dodge City on October 9 and 25 digs in a four-set win over McCook on September 20.

Simmons had a season-high 18 kills twice – the first vs. McCook when she hit .318 for the match and added 16 digs. The second was against the McPherson JV. Simmons had double figures in kills in 14 of 36 matches played.

Simmons had three double-doubles this season.

Wilson also averaged 19.2 digs and had 37 service aces this season.

Wilson had a season-high 45 assists in a four-set match vs. Butler on October 23. She had 40 assists in a five-set battle with Vincennes.

Posting a season-high 12 digs vs. Dodge City on October 9, Wilson had three double-doubles this season.

The Horned Frogs joined the rankings after topping&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/nc-state-tcu-score-04a1cfd577525de1c5fb6865868d8b52">then-No. 13 N.C. State</a>&nbsp;on Sunday. It was the team’s first ranked win since 2021 and victory over a top 15 opponent in six seasons. TCU has its best spot in the poll since the school was also 19th in 2008.

“It means a lot as we build this program,” TCU coach Mark Campbell said of getting ranked. “We’ve come a long way. I inherited a program that was 1-17 (in the conference) and at rock bottom. Last year’s group laid an incredible foundation to springboard into this season.”

The Gamecocks remained the unanimous No. 1 team, receiving all 31 first-place votes from a national media panel. They routed their two opponents last week by an average of 36.5 points. South Carolina visits No. 5 UCLA on Sunday.

No. 2 UConn, No. 3 USC and No. 4 Texas followed South Carolina. No. 6 Notre Dame heads west to play the Trojans in a top-10 clash on Saturday. LSU, Iowa State, Oklahoma and Kansas State round out the first 10.

West Virginia moved up to No. 13 for its highest ranking since 2018 when the Mountaineers were 12th.
