For the second-straight week, the Hutchinson Community College football team garnered two of the three Jayhawk Conference weekly player awards, which were released on Tuesday.
Sophomore running back Ravelle Leak was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore return specialist Aiden Bruce was named the league's Special Teams Player of the Week after the top-ranked Blue Dragons defeated NEO 52-24 on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.
Leak became the first Hutchinson running back to surpass 200 yards in a game in two seasons in leading the No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons over NEO on Saturday.
Leak rushed 19 times for 203 yards and a 65-yard touchdown run.
Leak averaged 10.7 yards per carry against the Golden Norse. Leak had five carries for 10 or more yards and two for 50 or more yards.
Leak is the fifth Blue Dragon this season to earn KJCCC offensive honors.
Bruce tied a Hutchinson football single-season record with his third punt returned for a touchdown this season in helping the Blue Dragons to Saturday's victory over the Golden Norse.
Bruce's first of three returns on Saturday went back for a 58-yard touchdown, which tied Cordarrelle Patterson and Kordell Gouldsby for the most kickoff/punt returns for a touchdown in single-season history. Bruce is the first of those three Blue Dragons to have three punt returns taken back for touchdowns.
Bruce had three returns for 80 yards against the Golden Norse.
