MANHATTAN, Kan. &ndash;&nbsp;K-State's&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/lincoln-sheffield/12332" rel="smarttag" rev="12332">Lincoln Sheffield</a></dfn>&nbsp;was awarded Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week honors for his dominant performance in K-State's defeat over No. 22 TCU at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. The transfer from Hinds Community College becomes the first Wildcat to earn a weekly award this season.&nbsp;&nbsp; Sheffield (1-1), who was named the FloSports Player of the Game, tossed seven complete innings and allowed just one run in his first quality start in a K-State uniform. The Flowood, Mississippi product helped K-State complete the sweep of the College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field, all against opponents featured in at least one national poll and lead the Wildcats to a tournament title. The left-hander, who carried a two-hitter into the seventh, allowed just four runners to reach base and ended his second outing of the season with a season-high eight strikeouts. He scattered just five hits in seven innings of work with one walk. Sheffield struck out the side to set the tone early in the opening frame. He allowed a leadoff double in the second but quickly settled in and retired nine consecutive batters, helping the Wildcats build a lead and capture their eventual 10-2 victory over the Horned Frogs. K-State will return to Texas to compete in the Frisco Classic February 28-March 2, and face No. 2 LSU, Sam Houston and Nebraska. ⚾ K-State's Sheffield named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Aaronette Vonleh had a season-high 24 points and 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season, and No. 17 Baylor beat No. 14 Kansas State 79-62 on Monday night for its season-long ninth straight victory.

Vonleh scored Baylor’s opening 10 points of the game and the Bears led 23-12 after starting the second quarter on a 7-2 run. Sarah Andrews made her third 3-pointer in the opening 15 minutes to go ahead 32-19. The Bears led 36-26 at halftime after making 6 of 16 3-pointers, compared to 1 of 8 for Kansas State.

Vonleh didn’t score again until the 4:27 mark of the third quarter to begin an 11-2 run that she capped for a 54-41 lead. She scored eight points in the frame.

Baylor (25-5, 15-2 Big 12) kept its hopes of an outright Big 12 championship alive, with a regular-season finale against No. 10 TCU scheduled for Sunday.

Kansas State (25-5, 13-4) lost its first home game of the season.

Aliyah Matharu and Yaya Felder each scored 15 points for Baylor, which had already locked up one of the four double byes for the Big 12 Tournament that starts next week. Jada Walker had 11 assists to go with eight points. Vonleh also blocked three shots.

Baylor starter Bella Fontleroy collided with Kansas State guard Serena Sundell at the eight-minute mark of the third quarter and was seen on the bench in fourth with ice on her right shoulder.

Sundell finished with 20 points for Kansas State. Kennedy Taylor added 16 points.

Three-point shooting was the difference, with Baylor going 11 of 28 while Kansas State was 2 of 15.

Kansas State plays on Sunday at Iowa State to conclude the regular season.

The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team fell three spots to No. 11 in the latest NJCAA Top 25 poll released on Monday afternoon.

The Blue Dragons are 24-3 overall, 18-3 in the Jayhawk Conference.&nbsp;

HutchCC has three games remaining in the regular season: home against Pratt on Wednesday, at Seward County on Saturday and home against No. 7 Dodge City on Wednesday, March 5.

🏀 HutchCC drops to No. 11 in NJCAA poll

LENEXA, Kan. — The Buhler High School swim &amp; dive team placed 8th at the class 5-1A state meet held at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center.

This is the highest finish the team has ever had at the state meet, per head coach Shane DeWeese.

The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Hudson DeWeese, Jonah Gardner, Payton Frees and Marshall Birney set a new school record and finished 5th with a time of 1:43.90.

DeWeese finished 8th in the 200 Yard IM, setting a school record with a time of 2:07.97 in the prelims. Isaak Neighbor finished 12th.

Scott Schweizer finished 11th in diving with a score of 279.65 in the finals.

The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of DeWeese, Gardner, Frees and Birney set a new school record and finished 6th with a time of 1:31.51.

Gardner finished 6th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, setting a new school record of 1:03.13.

The 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of DeWeese, Gardner, Frees and Birney set a new school record of 3:26.57.

🏀 KJCCC standings with 3 games remaining

WICHITA, Kan. -&nbsp;For the second straight week Wichita State has the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week after&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/xavier-bell/9058">Xavier Bell</a>&nbsp;earned the weekly honor Monday afternoon.

Wichita State hadn't had a conference player of the week since 2021, but has put an end to that drought with a Shocker taking home the award for a second straight week. Bell recorded a pair of 20-point outings during Wichita State's 2-0 week with wins over Florida Atlantic and Tulane. He averaged 23.5 points and was nearly perfect at the free throw line, going 13-for-14 (92.9 percent). Bell has a team-high seven 20-point games this season and is averaging 16.5 points per game in conference play, good for 8th in the league. In conference games, Bell ranks second in free throws made (69) and free throw attempts (76) and fourth in free throw percentage (90.8 percent).

Bell recorded a pair of 20-point outings during Wichita State's 2-0 week with wins over Florida Atlantic and Tulane. He averaged 23.5 points and was nearly perfect at the free throw line, going 13-for-14 (92.9 percent). Bell has a team-high seven 20-point games this season and is averaging 16.5 points per game in conference play, good for 8th in the league. The four Jayhawks are among 329 premiere athletes that will participate in the combine, as they are on display in front of the NFL's head coaches, assistant coaches, general managers, scouting personnel, and medical staffs from all 32 NFL teams. &nbsp; Kansas' four representatives are the second-most in program history and are the most since 2008, when Kansas sent five players (Anthony Collins, Derek Fine, Marcus Henry, James McClinton, Aqib Talib) to the NFL Combine. &nbsp; Brown and Neal most recently showcased their talents at the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Feb. 1. Brown earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors by league coaches and the Associated Press (AP) after starting 11 games at tackle as a redshirt junior. &nbsp; Neal earned AP All-Big 12 Second Team honors after a record-breaking season in which he became Kansas' all-time leader in rushing yards (4,343), rushing touchdowns (49), total touchdowns (53) and 100-yard rushing games (20). Neal finished his senior season with 1,266 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns, both of which ranked in the top-five in the Big 12 Conference. &nbsp; Bryant and Dotson enter the 2025 NFL Combine after great showings at the East-West Shrine Bowl, which took place in Dallas, Texas on Jan. 30. Both Bryant and Dotson finished the 2024 season as All-Americans at Kansas, marking the first time in school history with two players earning All-America at cornerback in the same season. &nbsp; Bryant was named Second Team All-America by The Sporting News and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) after recording four interceptions to go along with 37 tackles, one forced fumble and seven pass breakups. Bryant's four interceptions tied for the third most in the Big 12, while he finished his career with 13 interceptions, tied for the third-most among cornerbacks nationally. Bryant's 13 career interceptions are also tied for No. 2 in Kansas football program history, trailing only Ray Evans, who finished his career with 17 interceptions. &nbsp; Dotson was named Walter Camp Second Team All-America and AP Third Team All-America after a standout senior season that was highlighted by his five interceptions, which led the Big 12 Conference and were tied for the third-most among cornerbacks nationally. PITTSBURG &ndash; The Hutchinson Community College men's track and field team made program history on Sunday by winning its first-ever Region 6 Indoor Championship team title.
Scoring in eight events on the final day of competition at Pittsburg State's Robert Plaster Center, the Blue Dragons won the men's team championship with 109 team points. Coffeyville was second with 93 points and Butler was third with 89 points.
The closest the Blue Dragons came to a Region 6 Indoor team title was a runner-up finish in 1986. The Dragons have had five third-place finishes in the indoor regional championships.
The Blue Dragons also captured their first Jayhawk West indoor team championship in program history with 158 points. Garden City was runner-up in the conference standings with 112 points and Barton was third with 118 points.
Over the weekend, the Blue Dragons earned four individual regional event championships and scored in 13 of 20 events. The Blue Dragons had multiple scorers in five events over the two-day meet &ndash; 5,000 meters, pole vault, long jump, 600 meters and 3,000 meters.
On Sunday, sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/legrand_leo_gfpl">Leo LeGrand</a>&nbsp;joined&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/williams_elisha_7e2c">Elisha Williams</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/spencer_jayce_3o70">Jayce Spencer</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/mangelson_farrin_7y5g">Farrin Mangelson</a>&nbsp;as individual regional champions with a Region 6 title in the 1,000 meters. His time of 2:31.80 earned his second national qualification this season. LeGrand won the Jayhawk West championship and was regional runner-up in the 800 meters earlier on Sunday with a time of 1:55.66.
The Blue Dragons scored a combined 14 points in the 3,000 meters on Sunday as sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/kiprotich_titus_hgfs">Titus Kiprotich</a>&nbsp;was Region 6 runner-up with a national qualifying time of 8:22.46. That time was the second-fastest time in Blue Dragon indoor history. Mangelson placed fourth in the 3,000 with a time of 8:25.01.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/kogo_cornelius_hf87">Cornelius Kogo</a>&nbsp;was eighth in 8:33.08.
The Dragons scored 12 points in the 600-meter run on Sunday. Williams scored in his second individual events with a Region 6 runner-up finish in a time of 1:19.46, which also won the Jayhawk West individual title in the event.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/lester_da-shawn_ptrw">Da'Shawn Lester</a>&nbsp;was fifth in 1:19.23. Both times were national qualifying marks.
Williams ran the third leg of Hutchinson's fifth-place 4x400 relay team.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/telemaque_rickyle_kzmg">Rickyle Telemaque</a>, Lester, Williams and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/warren_d-antonio_9loc">D'Antonio Warren</a>&nbsp;combined for a time of 3:16.84.
Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/parkinson_malique_53uy">Malique Parkinson</a>&nbsp;also earned a trip to nationals in the triple jump on Sunday. His best jump of 47-7 3/4 (14.41 meters) placed third in the region.
Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/bare_grady_0xoi">Grady Bare</a>&nbsp;placed sixth in the shot put at 47-1 (14.35 meters). Warren placed seventh in the 200-meter finals in a time of 21.80.
The Blue Dragons have qualified 18 individuals and one relay for the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8-9 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.</div>

PITTSBURG &ndash; The Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team had their most successful Region 6 Indoor Championships in program history, completing a third-place finish on Sunday at Pittsburg State's Robert Plaster Center.
Led by a trio of shot putters and trio of distance runners, the Blue Dragons scored a program-high 85 points to place third in the region. Cloud County won the team title with 175.5 points and Barton was team-runner-up with 138.5 points. The Blue Dragons also finished third in the Jayhawk West standings with 112 points. Cloud County scored 212 points amongst Jayhawk West teams. Barton had 138.5 points.
On Sunday, the Blue Dragon scored a combined 17 points in the women's shot put with freshman Deisheline Mayer Scott finishing as regional runner-up with a best distance of 45 feet, 1 inches (13.74 meters). That was the second-best shot put in Blue Dragon women's indoor history and it was good enough to win the Jayhawk West championship on Sunday.
<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/montaque_janiel_88cd">Janiel Montaque</a>&nbsp;placed third in the shot put at 44-2 1/4 (13.47 meters) and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/green_aiyanna_nkel">Aiyanna Green</a>&nbsp;placed sixth at 37-11 (33.56 meters).
Those three Blue Dragon athletes scored a combined 25 points in the two throw events this weekend.
One day after breaking the Blue Dragons' 5,000-meter record, sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/picolet_jordan_z3sx">Jordyn Picolet</a>&nbsp;was a regional runner-up in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:36.91. Sophomore Laura Avila placed sixth in the 3,000 with a time of 11:00.16. Those two athletes scored a combined 23 points in the two distance defense.
The Blue Dragons earned their eighth NJCAA Indoor national qualifier on Sunday when sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/grantham_abigail_40ez">Abigail Grantham</a>&nbsp;finished third in the 1,000 meters with a PR time of 3:07.09, which surpassed the national qualifying standard. Grantham's time was also the fourth-best at 1,000 meters in program history. Grantham also finished third in the Mile run with a time of 5:21.21. Grantham scored a combined 13.5 points in her three events this weekend.
Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/dawes_azariah_fovg">Azariah Dawes</a>&nbsp;was the other scorer for the Dragons on Day 2 with a fourth-place performance in the triple jump. Dawes' best jump on Sunday was 35-9 1/2 (10.91) meters. Dawes also finished fourth in the long jump on Saturday.
The Blue Dragons next compete at the NJCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.</div>

👟 HutchCC women finish 3rd at Region VI

GAINESVILLE, Texas &ndash;&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2024-25/bios/golly_taylor_l19d">Tailor Golly</a>&nbsp;hit a two-run home run to center field and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2024-25/bios/dice_emily_75aj">Emily Dice</a>&nbsp;hit an inside-the-park home run to lead the No. 22-ranked Hutchinson Community College softball team to a doubleheader split with North Central Texas on Sunday at Darwin Fields.
After dropping a 1-0 decision in eight innings in the opening game, the Blue Dragons erupted for six runs in the first inning en route to a 9-3 victory in the second game.
The Blue Dragons are now 4-4 and will open Jayhawk Conference play at 1 and 3 p.m. on Wednesday against the Pratt Beavers at Fun Valley in Hutchinson's 2025 home opener.
GAME 2 RECAP &ndash; Hutchinson 9, NCTC 3 Golly led the Blue Dragons in the second game going 2 for 4 with a two-run triple, two-run home run and four RBIs. Her two-run triple came in Hutchinson's six-run first inning. Golly's two-run home run came in the sixth inning that gave the Dragons a 9-3 lead.
Dice was 2 for 3 with a career-high three RBIs. Dice hit a two-run single in the first inning and her inside-the-park home run came in the third inning that upped Hutchinson's lead to 7-3.
<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2024-25/bios/backhaus_bailey_44zk">Bailey Backhaus</a>&nbsp;was 2 for 4 with two runs with an RBI and a stolen base. The Dragons out-hit the Lions 11-9.
Golly's two-run triple started the Blue Dragons' 6-run first inning. She scored on a&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2024-25/bios/stauffer_gabby_t8qf">Gabby Stauffer</a>&nbsp;RBI single. Then with the bases loaded and one out, Dice singled to left field to score Stauffer and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2024-25/bios/brawner_brie_hldl">Brie Brawner</a>.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2024-25/bios/backhaus_bailey_44zk">Bailey Backhaus</a>&nbsp;closed out the big inning with an RBI single that scored&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2024-25/bios/thomas_aubree_o0p2">Aubree Thomas</a>.
North Central Texas scored a single run in the first and two runs in the second to pull within 6-3. Dice's inside-the-park homer to left-center in the third inning gave the Dragons a 7-3 lead.
Thomas (2-1) worked the first six innings to earn her second victory of the season. She gave up three hits and three runs, but only one was earned. Thomas had two strikeouts and no walks. Thomas' final four innings were scoreless.

Arizona apologizes for 'unacceptable chant' from fans at end of basketball loss to BYU

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona has apologized after the school says some fans participated in an "unacceptable chant" following the basketball team's 96-95 loss to BYU on Saturday night. According to online video, fans can be heard yelling a profane phrase directed at Mormons as the teams were leaving the court. BYU is the flagship school for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Richie Saunders scored 23 points, including two free throws with 3.2 seconds left, to give BYU the road victory at No. 19 Arizona. It was the Cougars' fourth win in a row and second consecutive over a ranked opponent.

Mikaela Shiffrin gets historic 100th World Cup race win and ties record for most podiums

SESTRIERE, Italy (AP) — Mikaela Shiffrin has created more history in her storied ski career by winning a World Cup slalom on Sunday. Shiffrin got a record-extending 100th World Cup race win. Her 155th career podium finish in World Cup races also tied the all-time record with Swedish men's great Ingemar Stenmark. Shiffrin was the first-run leader at Sestriere, Italy and protected that to finish 0.61 seconds ahead of Zrinka Ljutic who is a three-time winner this season. Shiffrin's U.S. teammate Paula Moltzan was third.

Brian Campbell cashes in on a big break and wins Mexico Open for first PGA Tour title

VALLARTA, Mexico (AP) — Brian Campbell played well enough to win the Mexico Open for his first PGA Tour victory. He also needed the break of a lifetime. In a playoff with Aldrich Potgieter, Campbell sent his tee shot on the second extra hole well off the property and out-of-bounds. But it hit some trees and bounced back in play. He wound up hitting wedge to 4 feet for the winning birdie when Potgieter failed to make his 6-foot birdie putt. The victory sends Campbell to the Masters and PGA Championship and The Players Championship. He also gets into five $20 million signature events.

It turns out Venus Williams won't play at Indian Wells after the tournament announced she would

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP) — It turns out 44-year-old Venus Williams will not be playing at the BNP Paribas Open. The tournament in Indian Wells, California, revealed on Sunday that Williams won't play, days after it announced she would be competing there as a wild card. It was an odd backtrack that came several hours after audio made the rounds on social media of Williams saying she would not be competing at the tournament in the Coachella Valley next month. Williams hasn't competed anywhere on tour since a first-round loss at the Miami Open in March 2024. That was less than two weeks after she lost her opening match at Indian Wells.

Alex Bregman hits a 2-run homer and gets 3 hits in his spring debut with the Boston Red Sox

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Alex Bregman hit a two-run homer as part of a three-hit day in his spring training debut with the Boston Red Sox, launching a drive over the left-field wall in the second inning against the Toronto Blue Jays. Bregman also had a single in the first inning and a double off the fence in the fourth. The two-time All-Star signed a $120 million, three-year deal with Boston this month after spending the first nine years of his career with the Houston Astros.

Biyendolo and Cooper score as United States beats Australia 2-1 in She Believes Cup

GLENDALE, Ariz (AP) — Lynn Biyendolo scored 42 seconds into the match and the United States beat Australia 2-1 on Sunday in the SheBelieves Cup. Michelle Cooper scored her first international goal in the 68th minute for the U.S., which improved to 2-0 in the four-team round-robin tournament. Biyendolo's goal was the fastest by a U.S. player since Ashley Hatch scored 24 seconds into a match in November 2021, also against Australia. Biyendolo, formerly Lynn Williams, was married in the offseason. It was her 22nd international goal. Michelle Heyman scored in the 80th minute for Australia.

NORMAN, Okla. &ndash;&nbsp;Wichita State earned a doubleheader split on Sunday evening at Love's Field, falling to No. 2/2 Oklahoma, 8-1, and beating Abilene Christian, 3-1. &nbsp; The win over Abilene Christian was the 400th victory for Wichita State Head Coach&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/coaches/kristi-bredbenner/1271" rel="smarttag" rev="1271" data-airgap-id="59">Kristi Bredbenner</a></dfn>&nbsp;at the helm of the Shockers. &nbsp; Wichita State 1, #2/2 Oklahoma 8 &nbsp; It didn't take long for the No. 2 team in the country to do damage, as they turned two walks and a bloop single into three first-inning runs, capitalizing on two passed balls and an error to take an early 3-0 lead over the Shockers. &nbsp; In the second, OU added a run with a solo blast to centerfield to take a 4-0 lead. &nbsp; Moving to the top of the third,&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/krystin-nelson/9315" rel="smarttag" rev="9315" data-airgap-id="60">Krystin Nelson</a></dfn>&nbsp;led off the inning with a double off the wall in center but was left stranded at third. 🥎 Shockers split on day 2 of OU Tournament

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — 43 Hutch Post area boys wrestlers have qualified for state tournaments after regionals were held across the state on Friday and Saturday.

The state wrestling championships will be held Feb. 28-March 1 at four different sites. Class 6A will be held in Overland Park, class 5A in Park City, class 4A in Salina and classes 3-1A will be in Hays.

HONOLULU, Hawaii --&nbsp;Wichita State was held to just one hit as Hawaii closed out the four-game series with a 7-1 win on Sunday afternoon at Les Murakami Stadium. The combination of Liam O'Brien and Freddy Rodriguez blunted the Shockers attack, conceding just a two-out RBI single to&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/kam-durnin/9177" rel="smarttag" rev="9177" data-airgap-id="57">Kam Durnin</a></dfn>&nbsp;in the top of the sixth while striking out nine and walking just two. The Hawaii offense made the most of seven walks and five hit by pitches handed out by WSU to secure the series, three games to one. The Rainbow Warriors (7-1) continued their torrid two-out hitting, getting a two-run double with two outs in the third from Elijah Ickes and later putting the game away in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of run-scoring two-out hits from Jared Quandt and Kamana Nahaku. Kansas earned its second series sweep to start the season, finishing off its opening 13-day, seven-game road trip. &nbsp; The Jayhawks are off to their best start since 2014 when the team began the season 9-0. The seven consecutive wins on the road are one shy of the program record. &nbsp; Kansas used a four-run sixth inning and a four-run eighth inning to help seal the game and series sweep. San Marcos, Texas &ndash;&nbsp;The Kansas Jayhawks opened the San Marcos Classic with a dominant performance, securing back-to-back wins over Southern Illinois and Texas State. Kansas racked up 17 hits and eight runs across both games while committing just one error in 14 innings. Texas State got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, cutting into Kansas' lead. However, the Jayhawks' defense held strong, executing back-to-back outs&mdash;first by nabbing the lead runner, followed by an infield pop-up secured by&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://kuathletics.com/sports/softball/roster/sara-roszak/6834" rel="smarttag" rev="6834" data-airgap-id="85">Sara Roszak</a></dfn>&nbsp;to end the inning and maintain the advantage.

WICHITA, Kan. &nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;Wichita State continues to be the hottest team in the American as they racked up a 78-67 win over Tulane Sunday afternoon in Charles Koch Arena. Wichita State (17-10, 7-7) has now won six straight games, matching the longest of the&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/paul-mills/1241" rel="smarttag" rev="1241" data-airgap-id="56">Paul Mills</a></dfn>&nbsp;era. The six-game win streak is the longest since the Shockers won eight straight in 2021. Wichita State shot 66.7 percent (16-for-24) in the second half after a sub-40 percent first half to finish at 50 percent for the game. <dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/xavier-bell/9058" rel="smarttag" rev="9058" data-airgap-id="57">Xavier Bell</a></dfn>&nbsp;notched his second straight game with 20+ points and seventh of the season behind a game-high 23 points. He was 7-for-15 from the field, 3-for-7 from three-point range and a perfect 6-of-6 at the stripe. After having his double figure streak snapped at Florida Atlantic,&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/corey-washington/9068" rel="smarttag" rev="9068" data-airgap-id="58">Corey Washington</a></dfn>&nbsp;bounced back with a 19-point, 8-rebound afternoon on 7-of-11 field goals.&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/quincy-ballard/9056" rel="smarttag" rev="9056" data-airgap-id="59">Quincy Ballard</a></dfn>&nbsp;added 11 points and nine rebounds and&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/harlond-beverly/9059" rel="smarttag" rev="9059" data-airgap-id="60">Harlond Beverly</a></dfn>&nbsp;grabbed a season-high nine rebounds to go with 10 points. <dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/bijan-cortes/9060" rel="smarttag" rev="9060" data-airgap-id="61">Bijan Cortes</a></dfn>&nbsp;was solid again, dishing out nine assists to go with seven points. Wichita State blitzed the Green Wave out of the gates, scoring the first eight points of the game to force a Tulane timeout just 4:43 in. After settling in, Tulane grabbed its first lead at the 7:55 mark behind a 7-0 spurt and nearly a 3:00 minute scoring drought for the Shockers. The lead would change sides six different times over the final 7:55 until Tulane captured it back with 1:56 remaining until halftime. The Green Wave had its largest lead of five with 41 seconds left until a&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/harlond-beverly/9059" rel="smarttag" rev="9059" data-airgap-id="62">Harlond Beverly</a></dfn>&nbsp;three-point play cut it to 31-29. &nbsp; Tulane would take that two-point lead into the locker room behind 46.7 percent shooting after a slow start to begin the game. Wichita State fired 14 three-pointers in the first half and converted only two of those. After dominating the glass each of the last five games, Tulane outrebounded Wichita State by two over the first 20 minutes. Behind a personal 8-0 run from Bell to open the second half, Wichita State jumped back on top, 37-31. Bell splashed in back-to-back triples and then dropped in a floater to give his team the lead back. That opening punch proved to be too much for Tulane as the lead would balloon to as many as 13 in the second half. The margin wouldn't shrink below five the rest of the game. Wichita State's first double digit lead came at the 15:02 mark only to see Tulane fight back to within 48-43. With 9:28 to go Wichita State extended the lead back to 10 on back-to-back Ballard scores at the rim. The two teams would essentially trade baskets over the next several minutes until the 2:36 mark when the lead reached 11. Free throws kept Tulane at bay in the final minute. Up Next Wichita State and UAB meet for the only time in the regular season Thursday night in Charles Koch Arena at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.</div>

"Our mindset was to treat this four-team tournament like a regional," said head coach&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/pete-hughes/2603" rel="smarttag" rev="2603">Pete Hughes</a></dfn>. "Proud of how our boys embraced that mindset." The Wildcats (4-4) announced their presence on a national scale, defeating three teams featured in the national polls &ndash; No. 5 Arkansas (D1Baseball), No. 25 Michigan (Baseball America), No. 22 TCU (D1Baseball) &ndash; in a three-game stretch. Sheffield (1-1), who was named the FloSports Player of the Game, tossed seven complete innings and allowed just one run in his first quality start in a K-State uniform. The left-hander, who carried a two-hitter into the seventh, allowed just four runners to reach base. Sheffield ended his second outing of the season with a season-high eight strikeouts, scattering five hits with one walk. "Lincoln set the tone for the entire game immediately. K-State pounded out a tournament-high 12 hits, while Sunday's win marked the Wildcats' second largest margin of victory in the all-time series against the Horned Frogs (5-2). ⚾ K-State wins third straight against ranked opponent

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Jayden Quaintance scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Shawn Phillips Jr. added 10 points and a career-best 11 rebounds on Sunday to help Arizona State beat Kansas State 66-54 and snap a six-game losing streak.

Quaintance, who went into the game 4 of 28 from behind the arc this season, made 2-of-4 3-pointers.

The Sun Devils (13-14, 4-12 Big 12) had lost 11 of their last 13.

Alston Mason hit a 3-pointer about 90 seconds into the game to give Arizona State the lead for good and sparked a 10-2 run that made it 12-6.

Dug McDaniel made a jumper that cut Kansas State's deficit to two points midway through the first half but ASU scored 15 of the next 20 points to make it 31-19 with 3:34 left before halftime.

The Sun Devils took a 34-28 lead into the intermission and scored 11 of the first 13 second-half points to make it 45-30 less than six minutes in and Kansas State (13-14, 7-9) trailed by at least nine the rest of the way.

David N’Guessan led the Wildcats with 20 points and 10 rebounds. McDaniel and Max Jones each scored four points on 4-of-23 shooting between them. The duo went into the game averaging a combined 23.3 points in conference play.

Kansas State, which has lost three in a row following a six-game win streak, shot a season-low 33% (22 of 66) from the field.

Amier Ali scored 11 points and Mason finished with eight assists and seven points for the Sun Devils.
