HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson-Trinity Catholic captured the team title Monday at the Inman High School Boys Golf Invitational, shooting a 341 at Crazy Horse Golf Course.
The Celtics placed four golfers in the top 10 to finish well clear of the field, topping runner-up Russell by 28 strokes. Central Christian finished third at 395, while host Inman did not post a team score.
Central Christian’s Cael Kooiman earned medalist honors with a 7-over 79, carding a 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back. Kooiman edged Trinity Catholic’s Tyler Casebolt and Russell’s Jake Mooney, who tied for second at 80.
Trinity Catholic’s balanced lineup powered the championship effort. Casebolt tied for second with an 80, Ian Shaw tied for fifth with an 85, and both Dean Nelson and Miles Blaylock tied for seventh at 88. Matt Armour added a 94, and Seamus Hogan finished with a 102.
Central Christian also turned in a strong day behind Kooiman and Tyler Reed, who tied for fifth at 85. Adam Eigsti added a 110 and Karson Sullivan shot 121 as the Cougars secured third place. Bruce Wilson carded a 124 and Bo Hobbes finished at 128.
Inman, competing without a full four-man scoring team, was led by Braeden Stutzman’s 108, which placed 19th overall. Creighton Friesen followed with a 114, and Wyatt Jonas shot 129.
Russell finished second at 369 behind Mooney’s 80, Tyler Neal’s 93, Solomon Moreland’s 98 and Braxton Parsons’ 98.
