Janet Lyn Keef-Torkelson, 52, passed away on August 13, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born in Wichita, Kansas to James and Jeannie Keef. She was a lifelong resident of Wichita. She was in the class of 1990 and graduated Wichita Southeast High School. After her graduation she trained at Mothers Grooming, then left to work at Indian Hills Animal Clinic, Cut-N-Strut Dog Grooming. Later, she owned her own dog grooming shop called All Breeds Pet Grooming. After that she worked for Bonjour's Puppy Parade.

She was an active member of Kairos Outreach, where she went on and supported families of people of incarceration.

Janet is preceded in death by James and Jeanie Keef, Barbara Byrd.

She is survived by Eric Torkelson, children: Jason Torkelson (step-son), Dalton Torkelson, Stratton Torkelson, Viviann Do (daughter in law), Chloe Torkelson, grandchildren: Trace Torkelson, Cannon Torkelson, Kinsley Torkelson, Xakaia Rai Pattinson, brother William Romine and sister Leanna Benson, numerous nephews, nieces, other family and friends.&nbsp;

Carol Jo (Horttor) Cowel, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. She was surrounded by her four children and husband of 64 years.

Carol was born on December 7, 1937, in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was the first born of 5 children to Ardith and Eva (Klopp) Horttor. She was a long time resident on a farm in Blue Mound, Kansas.

She was a registered nurse and retired from Northeast Nursing Home caring for those who could not care for themselves anymore. Not to set at home, she went to be a helper to the children on the school bus at Valley Center School District.

Carol is survived by her husband Delbert Cowel, daughters Pam Cowel and Debra Cowel, sons Jeff Cowel and Steve (Chris) Cowel, grandchildren Jake Cowel, Michael Lary and Mackenzie Lary, brother Deloss (Kathleen) Horttor, many other family and friends.

Services to be held at Calvary Baptist Church located at 320 N Sheridan Ave. Valley Center, Kansas on Tuesday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m.

Dorothy Alma (Ochs) Speer, former long time Valley Center resident, passed away on July 19, 2023 at Presbyterian Manor, Newton, Kansas. 

She was born to Orville &amp; Hattie (Kilgore) Ochs on July 30, 1925 in Sublette, Kansas and became a Christian at a youth event at Plymell Church in 1940. After living in several states, she moved to Valley Center and worked 25 years at Leekers for boss and good friend, Chris Steindler.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband O. L. Speer, son Tommy Wilson Schreiber, grandson Jason Sisler, and her siblings, Archie, Eugene, Eileen and Kenneth.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Linda Gil, Kathy Schreiber and Sharon (Jerry) Sisler, grandchildren: Brandi, Aaron, Sandra, Jessica, Dawn, Ivan, Cody, Eli, Enoch, Hannah and Amy, a host of friends including the Manor staff and dear friends Lisa, Danielle, Devin &amp; Kenzie Prideaux.

John Martinez, 94, died August 28, 2023, at his home in Goddard. &nbsp;He was born June 12, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Luis and Pevia (Magana) Martinez.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School and served in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army. &nbsp; He continued serving his country by joining the Army National Guard, retiring as a Captain. &nbsp;John also worked as an associate office coordinator for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 40 years of service. He enjoyed collecting tools, working in his yard, and keeping busy. &nbsp;John’s faith was very important to him. &nbsp;He grew up in St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, and was currently a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte. &nbsp;John was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp;

On June 20, 1981, he married Shirley Bishop, in Norwich.

John is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of 42 years, Shirley Martinez; children, John David Martinez, Ruth Annette Meek (Mark), Sandra Lynn Bell (Bill), Gary Drake Martinez, Donita Bunke (Jim), Rick Dolley (Gina), Mike Dolley, Robert Dolley (Kelly), and Brent Dolley (Christina); sister, Lucille Vieyra; special nephew, Christopher Vieyra; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jack, Joe, Luis, and Margaret.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Juanita Faye “Bobbi” Shultz, 84, passed away suddenly in Great Bend, KS on August 29, 2023. 

Born in Raymond, KS on December 29,1938, she was the daughter of Clarence &amp; Dora (Hughbanks) Messick. As a longtime Raymond resident, she graduated High School in Raymond and worked at the Jr. High School for 25+ years as a cook. She married Darrell Lee Shultz on March 17, 1957 at Raymond Baptist Church. They moved into her dream home in Ellinwood, in 2012. 

Bobbi was a member of the Raymond Baptist Church and Auxiliary. She always enjoyed a good card game. Bobbi was the best dressed mom/grandma around, especially dressing special on the holidays and having shoes for every occasion. She had a love for gnomes around the house and decorative chickens. She was a big supporter of the booster club. She loved watching her favorite sports teams; Chiefs, Jayhawks, Shockers and Royals while drinking a cold Coors Light with her four legged companion Pumper in her lap.

Survivors include son, James (Valerie) Shultz Chase, KS, daughters, Christi (Bruce) Thomson, Raymond, KS and Sheri (Ronnie) Hoover, El Dorado, KS, sister, Kay (John) Fore; grandchildren, Tiffany (Bobby) Webb, Tenelle (Brent) Nuest, Shawnda Wood, Jeremy Wood (Sierra), Dane Wood (Brinna), Jacob (Lyndsey) Hoover, Jaci (Ryan) Wolfe and 21 beloved great-grandchildren.

Dixie Lee Easdon, 86, met her Savior face to face on August 29, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends. &nbsp;She was born April 20, 1937, in Waterloo, IA, to Robert William and Laura Marguerite (Nichols) McCarthy.

Dixie graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, Fremont, NE, in 1956. She obtained her Associates Degree in 1987 from Hutchinson Community College and worked as a librarian for the college while attending.

Dixie enjoyed many hobbies including scrapbooking, stamping, crocheting, cooking, and reading. Her favorite was sewing and had a room full of sewing and other craft supplies. Volunteering was another passion. Dixie volunteered at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Hospice and Home Care of Reno County, Open Door Health Services, formerly known as Open Door Pregnancy Care Center for 20 plus years, and for Bethany Church of the Nazarene for 25 plus years, where she was a devoted member.

On November 3, 1956, she married Charles Franklin Easdon in Council Bluffs, IA. He survives.

Also surviving are: &nbsp;children, Jerry (Judi) Easdon of Hollister, MO, Paula Sue (Terry) Endicott of Broken Arrow, OK, Jess (Kim) Easdon of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Steve (Vickie) Douglas of Broken Arrow, OK; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren plus scores of bonus children.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Pamela Douglas; siblings, Barbara Grasseschi and Bill McCarthy; and granddaughter, Hannah Easdon.

Bobby (Bob) Niblett 89, went peacefully home to his Lord and Savior, whom he served faithfully, on August 29, 2023.<a></a>

He served many years as a Deacon in the Baptist church but faithfully attended the Legacy Worship Center (Westside Freewill Baptist) in Wichita, KS for the last 17 years. Bob was dearly loved by his family, and he loved them.

Bob is survived by his wife Geraldine of the home; sons Bobby G and Allyson Niblett Jr., Jerry, and Rebecca Niblett; daughter Lisa and Steve Hagg; brothers Jim and Bill Slaughter and sister Linda Trice. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Cole and Emma (Essary) Niblett; sister Betty Bonge and brothers Coy and Jack Niblett

A graveside committal service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday September 5, 2023, at Petersen Family Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas.

Betty J. Misegadis, 90, Rush Center, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.

Betty was born May 3, 1933, in rural Rush Center, Kansas, the daughter of Fredrick Samuel “Fred” and Frances Josephine “Fanny” (Schreiber) Keener. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1951 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, Betty was a homemaker and farm wife. Along with her husband, Dean, they owned and operated Dean’s TV &amp; Appliance, Rush Center and La Crosse, Kansas. They also owned and operated the cable tv system in McCracken, Kansas.

Betty loved being involved in her community. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, WELCA, Hope Lutheran Church Council, Hope Lutheran Church Quilt Club, and the Walnut Valley Saddle Club, all of Rush Center, Kansas. She was the last charter member of the Walnut Valley Senior Center, Rush Center, Kansas. She was a member of the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce, and the La Crosse Booster Club, both of La Crosse, Kansas. She was a 4-H leader. Her Unit could be found for many years manning the horticulture booth at the Rush County Fair. She loved holidays and was very proud of the Pride Park tree she was instrumental in planting, which is decorated every year with lights for Christmas.

On April 24, 1952, she married Dean Misegadis at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas. He preceded her in death April 21, 2014.

Survivors include: her children, Lois Misegadis, and her husband, Michael James, Ottawa, Kansas, Darlene Misegadis, Rush Center, Kansas, and Steve Misegadis, and his wife, Kimberley Brand, Lenexa, Kansas; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, William “Bill” Keener, Samuel George Keener, and Ray “Pete” Keener.

Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Michael Lynn Jennings, 66, died August 28, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis. He was born November 9, 1956, at the Hutchinson Naval Air Station, to James E. and Martha J. “Marty” (Hudson) Jennings.

Mike worked as a chef in numerous restaurants in Hutchinson, Wichita, and Ponca City, OK. He also owned and operated C&amp;J Cycle in Hutchinson for many years. Fishing and cooking were Mike’s life, but he also enjoyed model trains and loved going on cruises.

Mike is survived by: his mother and stepfather, Marty and Ron Clark of Hutchinson; brother, Bill Jennings of Benton; stepbrother, Marc Clark (Debbie) of Farmington, NM; stepsister, Vicki Reddy (Jamey) of Aztec, NM; pet dog, Denny; pet turtle, Miss Piggy; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, James D. Jennings.

Charlene Anne Schmidt, 71, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka. She was born November 2, 1951 in Benson, Arizona, the daughter of John and Wilda (Plough) Dickey.

She graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1969.

Charlene was united in marriage to Larry A. Schmidt on July 10, 1971, in Pomona, Kansas. They shared almost 47 years of marriage together, before Larry passed in June of 2018.

She enjoyed gardening, home decorating, and going to coffee with her family and friends weekly. Spending quality time with her family was important to her.

Charlene was a pastor of the Church of Revival. Ministry was a central focus for much of her life and she had a heart for God and his work. She loved serving God alongside her children and family.

She is survived by her son, Craig (Kindra) Schmidt of Moundridge; daughter, Mica (Bill) Tomlinson of Haysville; daughter-in-law, Kristi Porter of Moundridge; honorary children, Mike (Stacy) Richert of Newton; six grandchildren, Kadie Carrell, Patrick Tomlinson and Sean Tomlinson, and Thomas, Andrew, and Gavin Porter; brother, John (Fran Crowley-Dickey) Dickey of Houston, TX; and sister, and Marlene (Larry) Bender of Waverly.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larry; and her son, Travis J. Schmidt.

Cremation is planned. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Moundridge Senior Center, Moundridge. Suzanne was born in Concordia, Kansas on March 9, 1942, the daughter of Cecil and Opal (Walker) Ettleman.Suzanne attended the Haddam Grade School, and graduated from Haddam High School in 1960. She was a member of Haddam United Methodist Church. 

Suzanne was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.&nbsp; Through the years she also worked as a daycare provider, home Interior consultant, and stocker at Target. Suzanne was a member of 4-H; Haddam Unit Club, and the Haddam Bridge Club. She enjoyed doing home interiors, going to casinos, traveling, coaching softball, and spending time with her family and friends.

Suzanne was united in marriage to Joseph W. Morey on February 4, 1961 at Haddam Methodist Church in Haddam, Kansas. The young couple established their first home on a farm in Narka, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, a son and two daughters; Kimberly, Kent and Karen. She is survived by daughters, Kimberly Morey, Karen Nichols both of Salina, Kansas, and son Kent (Tonya) Morey of McPherson, Kansas; grandchildren, Kristin Burt, Christopher "Bud" (Katheryn) Davis-Talkington, Kyle Nichols, Sarah Nichols, Shelby Nichols, Megan (Tim) Konrade, Joel (Chyann) Morey; and great-grandchildren, Leighton, Kaisen, Kesley, Jaxsyne, Samuel, Adalynn, Greyson, Emma and Quinn.

Betty Jo Buckwalter, 94, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 3, 1928 in Turon to Orval Foster and Hazel Rachel (Levens) Nelson. Betty married Allan "Buck" Harry Buckwalter on September 23, 1950 in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2002.

Betty graduated from Preston High School. She worked for grocery stores and cafes in Turon and was a homemaker. She was a member of Penalosa Church of Christ. She enjoyed family dinners, playing dominos, bird watching and watching Wheel of Fortune.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Marti) Buckwalter of Bastrop, Texas, David (Kelly) Buckwalter of Hutchinson and Nelson (Lou Ann) Buckwalter of Sylvia; daughters, Sondra (Randy) Redinger and Carla Buckwalter both of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband; parents; an infant son; brother, Bill Nelson; and sisters, Barbara Meireis and Wanda Gross.

Lawrence “Larry” O. Smith, Jr., 88, a McPherson, KS resident since 1976, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023.&nbsp;

Larry was born on April 21, 1935, in Henderson, TN, the son of Lawrence O. Smith, Sr. and Bessie (Andrews) Smith.&nbsp; He was raised in Van Vleet, MS.&nbsp; Larry graduated from Mississippi State University in 1963.&nbsp; On August 6, 1960, Larry was united in marriage to Nancy June Ledbetter in Henderson, TN.&nbsp;

Larry served in the United States Army during the Korean War era.&nbsp; He retired from a pharmaceutical company, Sanofi-Winthrop/Abbott Labs, in McPherson.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy; two sons, Blair (Casey) Smith of Olathe, KS and Clint (Melissa) Smith of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren, Carson Olivia Smith of Tulsa, OK, Sawyer Henry Smith of Kansas City, KS, Garrett Lane Smith of Olathe, KS, Harper Elizabeth Smith of McPherson, KS, and Ashton Cole Smith of Olathe, KS; sister, Sarah Wyatt of Jonesboro, AR; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Loren Dale Smith.

Raymond Gene Ghere passed away at the age of 90 on August 22, 2023 at his rural Sedgwick, KS home surrounded by his loving family. Raymond was born on May 25, 1933 at the family home in rural Harper, KS. He was the third boy born in a family of 6 boys and 1 girl to Russell and Inez Ghere.

Raymond graduated from Harper High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan, during the Korean War from 1953-1955. He enjoyed telling stories of his time there including riding on the ship to Japan for days and being seasick the whole time. Right up until the end, he could still speak a couple of phrases of Japanese that he learned while serving his time there. Shortly after completing his tour in the Army, he met Marilyn Lee Cave on a blind date and it was love at first sight! They married on March 24, 1957, and built their home outside of Sedgwick in 1972. They celebrated 66 years together this year. Raymond enjoyed working as a truck driver and salesman in the Wichita area for many years, driving for Steffen’s Dairy and Roadway Express. He retired from Roadway in 1999 after 25 years. He loved driving the semi-trucks and thoroughly enjoyed his regular customers.

Family has always been Raymond’s number one priority. He was the most loving dad and taught all of his kids so many life lessons growing up, without the help of any parenting book or website. He greatly enjoyed his grandkids and loved to make them laugh! In retirement, he could often be found making a fun new toy or activity for them to play with during their next visit. He raised many different animals throughout the years for the grandkids to enjoy including goats, chickens, pigeons, and puppies which were some of the grandkid’s favorites. He also kept busy attending many of the grandkid’s activities and was one of their biggest fans. Raymond also thoroughly enjoyed helping others by fixing their lawn mowers and other small engine equipment and it was rare for him not to be able to figure out how to fix something and get it running again.&nbsp;

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Howard, Leonard, and Floyd.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; and three children, Lea Ann (Joe) Mitchem of Sedgwick, Jeff (Jana) Ghere of Whitewater, Lisa (Rusty) Jolliff of Newton; grandchildren, Jacob (Sara) Mitchem, Justin (Clarissa) Ghere, John Mitchem and Tessa Feemster, Julie (Josh) Abel, Leslea Mitchem, Kate Jolliff, and Jesse Ghere; great grandchildren, Dylan Dean, Aubrey Ghere and Jack Ghere; siblings, Clyde (Sharol) Ghere of Harper, Carl (Jude) Ghere of Medora, and Pauline (Doug) Oliver of Harper, many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life for Raymond will be held on Friday, September 1,,&nbsp;2023, at 10:00 am at Grace Fellowship Church formerly Sedgwick United Methodist Church in Sedgwick, Kansas with the graveside burial at Hillside Cemetery following the service. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the church from 5-8pm.

The family greatly appreciates all the wonderful caregivers from Good Shepherd Hospice, Homewell Care Services, Frankie’s Girls, and Linda Hingst, who helped the family honor Raymond’s wish to stay in his home until the end.

The family has suggested memorials to The Meeting Place, The Sedgwick Senior Center, Grace Fellowship Church, and The Alzheimer’s Association.&nbsp;

Raymond will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.&nbsp;

Steven Paul Maxwell, 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born April 4, 1964, in Oklahoma City, OK to Louis D. and Alice M. (James) Maxwell.

On December 5, 2013, Steve married Linda McCoy Womack in Las Vegas, NV. Steven joined the United States Army on August 14, 1983. He proudly served his country in the Gulf War and after 10 years, he honorably discharged on June 9, 1992. Steven was a truck driver and local business owner. He was an avid fisherman and was a craftsman. There was no limit to what he could do with his hands. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. Steve took special pride in his grandchildren and every moment was a teaching moment.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Paul (Brittney) Maxwell, Lindsay (Nick) Hemphill and Shayne Shields; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Avery and Aubrey Maxwell, Colton and Kaden Kinzel, Layne and Tate Shields; step-mother, Carol Maxwell; brother, Butch Maxwell; and sister, Cheri Ogg. While his time on earth was shortened, his legacy will live on through all of the individuals that crossed his path.

Arletta M. Fish, 85, of Raymond, KS, passed away August 25, 2023, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. Arletta was born February 16, 1938, near Susank, KS to Marion E. and Leona (Susank) Byers.&nbsp;

Arletta graduated from Hoisington High school in 1956. On March 23, 1958, she married Charles H. Fish in Hoisington, KS, sharing just over 57 years of marriage.

Arletta is survived by a sister, Loree Gilpin of Pratt and a brother, Jim (Jacque) Byers of Joplin, MO. Two sons, Craig R. (and wife) Fish of Great Bend, and Kirk L. (Tammy) Fish of Raymond. One daughter, Karyn M. (Kurt) Schemm of Derby. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Arletta worked for USD 401 Chase/Raymond as a school bus driver for many years while assisting Charles with the family business, Fish Service Station in Raymond.

Arletta was a member of Raymond Baptist Church where she organized music, sang and played the organ for 54 years. Arletta enjoyed music, quilting, sewing, baking and an occasional slot machine. She was well known in her community for her ‘Arletta’s famous pies’.&nbsp;

Celebration of life will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Raymond Community Center. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, until the day of the service.

In her early years she worked in the food industry. She loved doing crafts to give to family members, doing puzzles/ card games, and bingo nights. Above all, her most favorite thing to do was spending time with her family and friends. Known by many as “Faye”, she was sure to always make people laugh or smile in her presence. Her legacy is her family and the love she gave to them. From the moment her first grandchild was born she proudly went by “Nana”. She was a truly special woman who loved to tell stories to the kids and even went on to write one including the names of the grandchildren as a special treat. Her love went beyond blood ties as she adopted many into her heart as her own. A daughter, sister, wife, Nana, Aunt, Friend, or just someone who always provided a smile, she will be dearly missed by all.

On November 18, 1994, she married Donald Glenn White in Hutchinson.&nbsp;

On June 16, 1934, Evelyn arrived the ninth of 12 children born to Jacob P. and Susie (Bigbee) Mather on a farm 10 miles S.W. of Grinnell, Kansas. She grew up in a happy Christian home.&nbsp; At a young age she helped cook and feed the harvest crews during wheat harvest. In 1952 she graduated from Grinnell High School continuing her education at Wichita Business College for one year.

Evelyn married Walter Hayes in 1957 and worked with him in his business.&nbsp; In 1975 she married Don Fitz Roy. At this time, she began working at Learjet as a secretary until her retirement in 1996.

Eveyln is survived by her children Kelly &amp; Denise Hayes; Kathleen Hayes; Steven and Sue Hayes; Rebecca Marcus; and Marc and Lisa Fitz Roy. She is also survived by her sister Wilma Taylor and Marge Wilson; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was a devoted NASCAR fan watching every race. Sunday afternoon was a “no visit” time when a race was on.&nbsp; She loved to spend time with family, friends and traveling. Some of her travels included Germany, touring the east coast lighthouses, Alaska and a few cruises.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Don FitzRoy and Walter Hayes, 7 brothers, 2 sisters and stepdaughter Traci Eason.

“You wouldn't believe it!” Dr. William Joseph Ciskey went to be with his Lord and Savior August 25, 2023, in Hutchinson. He was born in Chariton, IA, to Raymond and Barbara Ciskey.

Bill was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, brother, and KU fanatic. He attended Hayden High School, Washburn University, and received his Family Practice Degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1973.

Bill married Linda Kessinger (deceased) in 1968. &nbsp;

Peggy Joyce Scott of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends on August 24, 2023, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was 89 years old.

Born on December 3, 1933, in Milledgeville, Georgia, Peggy was the daughter of Samuel Arthur Evans and Clara Belle (Worsham) Evans. She grew up in Milledgeville and graduated from Peabody High School.

Peggy dedicated 23 years of her life to serving others as a receptionist/clerk at McPherson Floral. Her friendly nature and attention to detail touched the lives of countless customers who sought joy through beautiful flowers. She truly valued the importance of bringing smiles to people's faces during both moments of celebration and times of sorrow.

She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Peggy's greatest role was that of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She married the love of her life Carrol "Scotty" E. Scott, and together they built a remarkable life full of love, laughter, and shared experiences. Peggy cherished their union of 57 years until his passing on February 25, 2011.

Peggy is survived by her beloved daughter, Patricia "Trish" Scott of McPherson, Kansas. Trish provided endless love and support to her mother until the very end. In addition to Trish, Peggy's grandchildren, Chris Swick of Manhattan, KS and Rebecca (Matthew) Sanchelli of Overland Park, KS, were the light of her life and held a very special place in her heart. She adored them beyond measure and cherished every moment spent together. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Harold (Wanda) Scott of McPherson, KS; and many loyal &amp; faithful friends.

Peggy's family was the center of her world.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Gary Scott; a brother, Lamar Cullens; and sister, Debbie Clance.&nbsp;

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at McPherson Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Lynn Scott officiating.

Kim graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1977. She enjoyed diamond art, and the chiefs. She loved watching the chiefs play football.

Kim is survived by: daughters, Sarah (Trent) Gilbert of Nickerson, and Heather (David) Egnor of Wichita; granddaughters, Rylee Gilbert of Nickerson, and Haylee Shadduck (fiancé, Marshall) of McPherson; great grandson, Jameson Reedy of McPherson; and brothers, Scott (Beth) Arpin of Kechi, KS and Tony Arpin of Hutchinson.
