Maxine Mae Schrag, 94, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Pine Village. She was born on August 11, 1929 in rural Galva, Kansas, the daughter of Ted and Edith (Goering) Krehbiel.

She graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1947.

She was united in marriage to William “Willie” Schrag on June 14, 1949 at Hopefield Church. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2009.

Maxine was a devoted homemaker and farmer’s wife.

She was a member of Eden Mennonite Church where she participated in the church choir, women’s society and taught Sunday school. She volunteered at Save and Share and was involved in a variety of community and service clubs.

Maxine is survived by her children, Susan (Tony) Graber of Newton, LuAnn (Randy) Hershorn of Houston, TX, and Don (Terri) Schrag of McPherson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Betty) Krehbiel of Moundridge; and sister, Kay Ann (Gib) Burgan of Moundridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and five siblings, Jim Krehbiel, Meribeth Kaufman, Jane Regehr, Bob Krehbiel and Patsy Klassen.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Eden Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 15 at Moundridge Funeral Home.
