Stacey Larry Haines, a joyful soul whose journey on this earth spanned 65 years, left a mark on the hearts of those he touched before his passing on March 31, 2024. Born on December 1, 1958, in Mesa, AZ, he was the cherished son of Larry Robert Haines and Laverta (Bontrager) Moody.

With a profound passion for mechanics, Stacey was a master at breathing new life into anything powered by an engine, with a particular fondness for cars and motorcycles. His talent shone brightest as he lovingly devoted countless hours to the restoration and enhancement of his cherished Chevy Nova and Harley Davidson motorcycle, a testament to his dedication and skill.

Family was the cornerstone of Stacey’s life, especially the precious moments spent with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, sharing in the delight of Yoder Heritage Day Parades and reveling in the unique “toys” he crafted with love, from minibikes to go-karts, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Stacey’s legacy lives on through his loving daughters, Cassie (Matt) Sharp of Beggs, OK, and Christi Flynn of Henderson, NV; his devoted mother, Laverta (Merlin Krehbiel) Moody of South Hutchinson, KS; his caring sisters, Joni (Ellis) Gray and Kim (Tommy) Southall, both of Texas; and his adored grandchildren, Bella, Skylar, McKenna, Lawson, Rainey, Sophia, Stratton, and Scarlett.

He was reunited in eternity with his father and his beloved wife, Sandra Haines, leaving behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and an unbreakable bond with his family.

Stacey will forever be remembered as a man with an immense amount of character whose contagious laugh and love for the ride left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Janice Kay McLeavy, 82, passed away March 27, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Lakewood, Colorado, following a short illness. She was born April 3, 1941, in Hutchinson, Kansas to John J. and Vida (Thomas) Russell. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1959 and Kansas State University in 1963 with a B.S. in Elementary Education.

Janice married Robert G. McLeavy on Aug. 4, 1963, at the South Hutchinson Methodist Church, their wedding being the first held in the newly-completed sanctuary of the church. She and Bob then moved to Denver, CO, where she began a teaching career of over thirty years at Allendale Elementary School in the Jefferson County School District of suburban Denver. She retired in 1995 with the designation of Master Teacher, having impacted the lives of over 700 students.

Retirement allowed Jan to pursue more of her hobbies and interests. Gardening from the first green sprout of spring to the first frost brought her great joy. She was an outstanding cook who was always reading cookbooks and watching culinary shows for new ideas and recipes. Jan was an avid baseball fan and loved attending Colorado Rockies’ games and Spring Training. Nature in its many forms fascinated her, whether it was watching the birds and observing deer in the backyard, or enjoying the mountain peaks of Colorado and exploring the Jeep trails of Moab, UT, with Bob.

Jan is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Bob McLeavy of Golden, CO, her brother, Ronald T. Russell of South Hutchinson, KS, four nieces and nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Vida Russell and her parents-in-law J.C. and Millicent McLeavy.

Mark Blakeslee, 69, died in his home on Monday April 1st, 2024 after a valiant fight with cancer.&nbsp;

Born John Marcus Blakeslee on Sunday June 13th, 1954 in the town of Rawlins Wyoming. His childhood was spent playing with his best friend Bruce Hootman. He graduated from Rawlins High School in 1972, forever proud of being an Outlaw.&nbsp;

He continued his education at Hastings College where played his trumpet purchased by his grandma Esther in the band and travelled the world. After earning his Bachelor’s degree, he continued his education at the University of Nebraska Omaha.&nbsp;

While living in Omaha he fell in love with Denise Hartline and they married on February 14th, 1979. The marriage was exposed to great obstacles that challenged their constitution and faith. Their 45 years together brought four children; Pete, Corrine, Cassie, and Whitney.&nbsp;

He was a masterful salesman and shoed the entire town of Dodge City working as the manager of Payless from 1986 to 1994. Mark was able to return to his passion of helping peoples when his friend Mike Hoar hired him at Youthville. He graduated from Friend’s University with his master’s degree and became a Marriage and Family Therapist. He never stopped furthering his education so he could expand his therapeutic repertoire that included hypnosis and addiction counseling. When he moved to Nickerson, he gradually switched from helping youth to counseling adults.&nbsp;

Mark volunteered his limited spare time to Hasting’s College Band and Kiwanis. What started out with him filling in as Santa turned into one of his favorite hobbies. He loved playing the Ho HO especially when it included his daughter Whitney being his trusty Elf sidekick. He was everyone’s favorite Mall Santa at Village Square Mall from 1995-2008. Santa then booked the occasional appearances that included the Nickerson Snowflake Festival, United Methodist Church, and Berridge’s IGA.&nbsp;

As driven as Mark was to help others his pride was his family. He was his family’s rock, best friend, role model, and biggest fan. He loved tapping his foot along to songs in band concerts, playing catch in the field, and cheering them in everything they did.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Denise and his children Pete/Tricia Sioux City, Iowa, Corrine/Ben Nickerson, Kansas, Whitney/Donnie Inman Kansas. His mother Marjorie Hutchinson Kansas, his sister Julia/Steve Gaithersburg, Maryland. His 14 grandchildren; Chance Hertel, ShaiLynne, BrookeLynne, and JosiLynne Blakeslee, Everly Krisle, Tanner and Taylor Hall, Alex, Cit, Gabriel, and Norah-Grace Wallace, Annalise Henderson, and Junior Rowley. One great granddaughter Callie Sally Ann Antosh-Hertel.&nbsp;

He is proceeded in death by his father A. Don Blakeslee, his daughter Cassie Elizabeth Blakeslee, and grandson Christopher (Sparky) Michael Henderson.&nbsp;

Linda Kay Walden, 76, died March 30, 2024, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab. &nbsp;She was born January 10, 1948, in Hutchinson, KS, to Albert Ollie Harper and Imogene (Gaddy) Harper.

Linda was a homemaker. &nbsp;On September 15, 1968, she married Albert Leon Walden, in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 55 years of marriage.

Linda is survived by: &nbsp;her husband, Albert Walden of Hutchinson; son, Darrell (Kristina) Walden of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Jamie (Maddie) Walden, Jeremey (Shelby) Walden, Dylan Walden, and Sierra (Logan) Benson; sister, Carolyn Daines; and brother, Steve Harper.

Ardith May, 79, of South Hutchinson, died March 30, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born August 30, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Bernard and Arlie (Taylor) Hiebert.

Ardith graduated from Nickerson High School in 1962 and attended Hutchinson Community College

She spent many years living in Grand Island, Nebraska, with her husband, Wayne. She made many great memories there and was very involved in her community. Ardith worked as a legal secretary at a law office. She was a charter member of Grand Island Legal Professionals Association, Crimestoppers of Grand Island and Grand Island Fleet of Admirals Club. Ardith was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Island and Emanuel Lutheran Church when she returned to Hutchinson. She was a very crafty person; she enjoyed painting and selling her plaster crafts.

In November 1977, Ardith married Wayne E. May in Grand Island. He passed away in March 2005.

She is survived by: son, Jack Morton Jr, Wichita; sister, Glennys Tedder, Hutchinson; brother, Ralph Hiebert (Toni); and many close cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; brother, Paul Hiebert; sisters, Betty Greever, Vera Ummel, and Phyllis Balzer.

Memorial service will be 1:30 pm Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary. A private burial will take place at a later time in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may sign the book 9 am to 5 pm Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Robert A. (Bob) Morris, longtime resident of Valley Center, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024 at the age of 90. Bob was born on December 23, 1933 in Altoona, KS to Milton DeKalb and Anna Christine (Krashoc) Morris. He was the 9 of 10 children and the last of his siblings to pass. Bob met the love of his life LaVerne Cahill and married her on September 3, 1960. Together they lived in Wichita until they moved to Valley Center in 1962.

Bob loved old cars, car shows, his Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, his wife LaVerne of 59 years, and son Joe.

Bob is survived by his children, Greg (Patty) Morris, Cindy Pierce, and Cathy Morris. He has 7 grandchildren, Scott (Rachel) Morris, Amy (Arlen) Spexarth, Alicia (Jerry) Snearly, Julia Pierce, Brad (Brooke) Pierce, Audrey Morris &amp; fiancé, John Hardin, and Kevin Pierce. 8 great grandchildren, Ella &amp; Addy Spexarth, Jackson, Rowan, &amp; Mabel Pierce, Emerson &amp; Vaughn Snearly, and Beau Morris.

B. Wayne Loy, 82, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

Wayne was born on April 1, 1942, in Garnett, KS, the son of Brock E. and Roberta E. (Lewis) Loy.&nbsp; He graduated from William Chrisman High School (Independence, MO) in 1960 and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Central Missouri State College in 1965.&nbsp; On July 3, 1965, Wayne was united in marriage to Lois Aileen Wolpers in Blackburn, MO.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three sons, David, Stephen, and Andrew.&nbsp; Wayne and Lois were married for 58 years prior to Lois’ passing on January 18, 2024.

Wayne served for 5 ½ years in the United States Air Force Reserve, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.&nbsp; He was an accountant for K-W Dart Truck Company, Kansas Jack, Vanguard Plastics, and Hehr Glass.

As a Boy Scout, he was awarded the Eagle Scout and inducted into the Order of the Arrow.&nbsp; He was a member of &nbsp;American Legion Post #24.&nbsp; He enjoyed holiday family get-togethers, camping, guns, knife collecting, fishing, hunting, archery, bluegrass music festivals, and his beloved dogs.&nbsp;

Survivors include his three sons, David (Mary) Loy of Irvine, CA, Stephen (Jen) Loy of Topeka, KS, and Andrew (Rebecca) Loy of McPherson, KS; and ten grandchildren, Nathan, Catherine, Jonathan, Benjamin, Tyler, Emily, Ayden, Asher, Emmalyn, and Maya.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Carol Ann Fitzpatrick.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 8, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Dale Dumperth officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday at the church.&nbsp; Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at McPherson Cemetery.

Curtis McColm, age 69, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Curt was born on January 1, 1955, to William E. and Irene E. (Dean) McColm in Wichita, Kansas. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita and graduated from Heights High School. Curt worked several jobs in his career including as a foreman for Asplundh Tree Expert Company from 1975 to 1983. He retired from Kechi Township and Cemetery in 2013 after 25 years.

Curt spent many cherished hours in his younger years boating and fishing with his family. He was a collector of many things through the years including Honda Dream motorcycles, chain saws, car model kits and so much more. His passion for building model cars began as a young boy, and it was a hobby he enjoyed throughout his life. Curt was a true tinkerer and loved nothing more than brainstorming an idea for a customized project and bringing it to fruition.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve McColm.

Curt is survived by his wife, Nadine, and beloved fur family, Bud and Maxie. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Lori McColm, Arvada, CO, Laverne Taylor, Pratt, KS, and Colleen Couey, Hill City, KS; uncle Earl (Carleen) Dean; and cousins, Earlene Miracle, Chad Willis and Todd Willis, all of Wichita.

Graveside service will be at 2 pm, Friday, April 5, at Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.

Joyce Darlene Hartman, 86, of rural Nickerson, died April 1, 2024, at her home. She was born April 26, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Darlton and Pauline (Cook) Herren.

Joyce went to school at Salt Creek School and then to Nickerson High School, graduating in 1955. She married her high school sweetheart, Miles Hartman, on November 24, 1955.

They moved to Manhattan while Miles finished college at K-State in 1958. They then moved to the Kansas City area until January of 1967, when they came back to the farm.

Joyce loved being a farm wife and all that it entails: cooking, baking, keeping the farm books, working alongside Miles, running the tractor and combine, running for parts, running after kids…just running the farm. She was a seamstress, quilter, wood carver, knitter, baker of wonderful bread, rolls, cinnamon rolls…an excellent cook of all things wonderful.

Joyce loved her family, all 50+ of them! Going on a family vacation was a great joy for her, and when she told about her vacations, people would say “How many of you went?” and “You didn’t fight?” and “You still speak to each other?” Joyce thought that was sooo funny…she would say, “What’s to fight about? &nbsp;We all love each other!”

Love was taught in her house, by example…Joyce really knew how to love and insisted on it.

She and Miles shared 68 years of marriage - 70 years altogether - and this year she liked to tell they were 86 years old and had been married 68 years. They liked to go to grandkids’ and great-grandkids’ ball games, programs and all the activities. They loved football, basketball, volleyball and were fans of the KC Chiefs, K-State Wildcats, and Hutch JuCo Blue Dragons.

Fishing and lake life were always a favorite for Joyce. She always caught the first fish, the biggest fish, and the most fish, but she always needed her special pink fishing pole…sale price $9.99!

Joyce had a heart for mission and always encouraged the church ladies to look for a place to give and volunteer. &nbsp;She volunteered at the Hospice House in Hutchinson. Joyce loved her church and church family. &nbsp;She had a big faith and love of Jesus. Joyce hosted Bible Study for 20+years. She had been active in UMW for many years.

Joyce and Miles went on a disaster relief mission trip to Pascagoula Mississippi. She enjoyed helping at Fairview Soup Suppers, was a Sunday School teacher for years and a faithful servant of Jesus.

Joyce belonged to Fairview Country Church, Quilters Guild, Salt Creek Social Club, Salt Creek Supper Club, Road Runners – Partridge, UMW, and was a great 4-H Leader.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Darlton &amp; Pauline Herren; parents-in-law, Carl &amp; Dorothy Hartman; brother, Donald Gene Herren; sons, Bruce Eugene and Curtis Jay Hartman; and grandson, Steven Lance Depew.

Timothy Allen Young, 56, passed away March 25, 2024, at his home in Newton, KS after an 11-month battle with cancer.

Tim was born on February 26, 1968, sharing a birthday with his mother, in Wichita, KS to Gerald and Nancy (Ashlock) Young.

Tim graduated from Newton High School in 1986. He received his Associate in Arts at Hutchinson Community College in 1988. After receiving this degree he attended Fort Hays State University. While in Hays, KS he met his future wife Danelle Metcalf. The two of them married on October 10, 1992, in Hays, KS. The couple had two children: Shelbie and Landon. The addition of their two children completed their family. He was an amazing father, grandpa and a loving supportive husband. He was always a good provider for his family always working a "side gig" as he called it, in addition to his full-time job.

He received his Bachelor of Science at Southwestern College in 1998. After the death of his father Gary, he felt called to ministry work. In 2008 he completed his Master of Arts with a major in specialized ministry. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and received their support as he went on to serve as a licensed local pastor for Walton and Buhler UMC from 2005-2008 in the former Kansas West Conference.

He worked at Femco manufacturing in McPherson from 1999-2022 in Accounting, IT, and as HR Manager. In 2022 he made a major shift in his career by changing employment to non profit at Ember Hope in Newton as their HR Manager. He worked passionately at this job and found it extremely rewarding until the end of his life. Even in his last days at home he was still concerned about meetings and things that needed done.

In his younger years he loved singing in the Railaires, golfing with his dad and fishing. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Praise team as the bass player. He was known for his grilling skills and spent many hours grilling up delicious food. Tim loved Wichita Thunder hockey games, KC Royals, and KC Chiefs. He had a passion for bowling and had bowled two perfect 300 games and an 812 series that he was immensely proud of. He enjoyed a cold Bud Lite and had multiple recipes for his own home brew. He loved his bird feeders and watching the birds. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion. You could find him most Friday nights at the Legion with his buds. Tim was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was not pushy but stood solid on his beliefs. He enjoyed using his knowledge of the bible to prove a point when needed.

His most proud achievement in his life were his two children. He was supportive and involved in whatever they chose to do. He coached numerous ball teams and judged debate tournaments. He was also a KSHAA registered softball umpire 2018-2022. It was important to him to be firm yet supportive to the youth to teach them to be respectful and to most importantly to have fun.

Tim is survived by his wife, Danelle; son Landon of Kansas City; and daughter Shelbie (husband Patrick White) of Maize; grandchildren Heidi and Rowan; Mother Nancy Young, Newton; brother Mark Young of Wichita (wife Michelle); Mother in law Donna Metcalf of Nixa, MO; sister in laws Angie Laurin (husband Jeff) of Nixa, MO; Pam Normandin (husband Ivan) of Damar, KS; many nieces and nephews - Valleri, Emily, Nicole, Nathan, Jared, Hayley, Tyler, and 9 great nieces and nephews, a supportive extended family and some of the best friends in the world.

Tim is preceded in death by his father, Gerald (Gary) Young, father-in-law, Danny Metcalf, and nephew Matthew Laurin.

Memorial services will be held Monday, April 15th at 10am at First United Methodist Church, Newton, KS. A graveside service will follow at Restlawn Gardens of Memory.

He coached numerous ball teams and judged debate tournaments. He was also a KSHAA registered softball umpire 2018-2022. It was important to him to be firm yet supportive to the youth to teach them to be respectful and to most importantly to have fun.Tim is survived by his wife, Danelle; son Landon of Kansas City; and daughter Shelbie (husband Patrick White) of Maize; grandchildren Heidi and Rowan; Mother Nancy Young, Newton; brother Mark Young of Wichita (wife Michelle); Mother in law Donna Metcalf of Nixa, MO; sister in laws Angie Laurin (husband Jeff) of Nixa, MO; Pam Normandin (husband Ivan) of Damar, KS; many nieces and nephews - Valleri, Emily, Nicole, Nathan, Jared, Hayley, Tyler, and 9 great nieces and nephews, a supportive extended family and some of the best friends in the world.Tim is preceded in death by his father, Gerald (Gary) Young, father-in-law, Danny Metcalf, and nephew Matthew Laurin.Memorial services will be held Monday, April 15th at 10am at First United Methodist Church, Newton, KS. Larson Woelk, 93, passed away on March 31, 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Larson was born on May 25, 1930 in Newton, KS, to Alvin and Linda (Galle) Woelk.

Larson graduated from Walton High School in 1948.  He was the State Champion in High Jump, Long Jump and 100 yard dash in that division.  He entered the Army in July 1951 serving as a airplane mechanic in Germany.

Larson married Donna Ortmann on April 19, 1955, in Newton, Kansas. The couple had two children, Tim and David.

For 35 years Larson worked for the U.S, Postal service as a letter carrier.

Larson was best known for bowling in his early years and gardening.

Larson is survived by his son, David (Laurie) Woelk of Overland Park; daughter-in-law, Cindi Woelk of Newton; three grandchildren, Sarah Weekley, Janelle Haverty and Sam Woelk; and five great grandchildren, Eli and Olivia Weekley and Georgia, Ford and Patrick Haverty.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Woelk; son, Tim Woelk; parents, Alvin and Linda Woelk; and siblings, Lamont, Leland, Loren, and Artis. 

The service for Larson Woelk will be held on Saturday, April 6th, at 10:00a.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. Visitation will be the evening prior from 5:00p.m. - 8:00p.m..

Twila (Huebert) Penner was born March 7, 1934 in the family farmhouse near Henderson Nebraska to Henry H. and Anna (Friesen) Huebert. Twila had four brothers and was one of six sisters. As a depression era family they were familiar with hard times. Everyone in the family worked hard, a trait that later in life Twila instilled in her family as well.

In 1950 Twila publicly confessed her salvation as a believer in Jesus Christ to her church and was baptized and became a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church. Twila was a faithful servant of God and active in various churches her entire life.

After graduating from high school Twila started teaching at age seventeen in a one room school house near Henderson for two years. Twila then enrolled in Bethel College in 1953 and was going to be a senior in the fall of 1955. However, fate stepped in and changed her life forever when she married Lauren Penner in September of 1955.

In 1958 Twila experienced a lot of change in her life. Her first son, Kim, was born in January. Twelve days after Kim was born, Twila went from extreme happiness to extreme sadness as her mother died at age 55 of a heart attack. Later that year Lauren, Twila and Kim moved to Newton Kansas.

Twila’s daughter Joni was born in 1960. When Joni was 13 months old Twila enrolled in cosmetology school and received her degree as a licensed hairdresser in 1962. She was a licensed hairdresser for over 50 years.

In 1965 the family purchased the Dutch Kitchen restaurant and returned to Henderson. Lauren and Twila both worked in the restaurant. Then in 1966 Rick was born. Several years later the family relocated to Newton when they purchased a printing and publishing company. In 1975 Lauren and Twila sold the printing business and started farming on land half way between Newton and Hesston Kansas.

After Lauren and Twila retired from farming, they relocated to Schowalter Villa in Hesston Kansas. They were both very active in the Schowalter Villa Community and in the Hesston Mennonite Church.

Twila went to meet her lord and savior on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. She is survived by Lauren, her husband of 69 years, sons Kim (Lynda) Penner and Rick (Michelle) Penner and daughter Joni Mann, 7 grandchildren, Broc Penner, Brianna McQuay, Chance Penner, Kyle Mann, Kelsey Wiens, Tate Benjamin and Jacob Penner, and 6 great grand children.

Marlin Gerald "Jerry" Gossman passed away March 31, 2024, in Hutchinson, Kansas, at the age of 76. He was born August 26, 1947, to Marlin Victor Gossman and Bertha Lilly Gossman in Stafford, Kansas.&nbsp;

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Bertha, his loving wife Nancy of nearly 43 years, brothers, Don Paxman, Jim Gossman, and sister Ellen Ann Cranmer.

Marlin is survived by his son, Rick Gossman of Hutchinson, sister Jewette Raymond of Wellington, KS, brothers, Stephan Gossman of Hutchinson, David Gossman of Alabama, Daniel Gossman of Oxford, KS, Ben Gossman of Wellington, KS, grandchildren, Alexander Gossman, Jessica Clancy, and Rikki Gossman, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marlin Gerald, known as "Jerry" to family and friends, married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life Nancy, in October of 1972. The two were blessed with a son, Rick. Jerry's family was his pride and joy! Aside from spending time with family, he was a hard worker, and retired from the City of Hutchinson as a mechanic of 27 years. Jerry was a talented craftsman, with much of his work displayed throughout his home. He had an amazing smile and a heart of gold! Jerry will be dearly missed by all. He is resting peacefully in Jehovah's Memory.&nbsp;

Betty was married to Floyd Koehn at Halstead, KS on January 28, 1951.They were married over 73 years.

Betty was a homemaker and lover of hospitality and gardening. She grew up at Halstead, KS. After she married Floyd they lived most of their married life at Galva, KS.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Obed and Esther Johnson, sisters, Eleanor Unruh and Theda Becker and one brother, Errol Johnson. Surviving are her husband, Floyd, sons, Randall (Darlene), Timothy (Debra) of Galva, Jeffery (Rhonda) El Campo, TX and one daughter, LeAnn (Eugene Dueck) El Campo, TX, 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

John M. Isern, 73, passed away
at his home in Ellinwood surrounded by loved ones. Born on January
29th, 1951 in Hutchinson, KS he was the son of Martin L.J. &amp;
Florene (Schmitt) Isern. 

John was a lifetime Ellinwood resident
graduating from High School in 1969. He later graduated from Kansas
State University in 1976 where he received his Bachelor’s degree.
John later married Jacque Kukula on April 25, 1981 at St. John
Lutheran Church in Ellinwood. John worked at H &amp; H Groceries and
American Parts before working as a Court Service Officer for 13
years. More recently John worked as the Court Administrator of the
20th District Judicial court before retirement in 2018. He served as
the President of the "Kansas Association of District Court
Clerks and Court Administrators" and on various boards and
capacities at&nbsp;St. John Lutheran Church and within the community.


John was very active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts programs and
coaching his son’s sports activities while they were young. John
was a longtime member who held many positions including the Commander
at the American Legion Post #320, was instrumental in creating the
Ellinwood Rec. Commission, and remodeling the high school. 

He served
as the "Voice of the Ellinwood Eagles" for many years where
he announced football and basketball games and served many years on
the USD #355 School Board. John also loved softball and was a member
of the Salty Dogs for over 12 years. In 2014 John received the Jerry
Menges award for outstanding service and John and Jacque were voted
Citizens of the Year in 2019 for the After Harvest Festival. 

He also
proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves for almost 30
years. Due to the 9/11 attacks he was called to active duty where he
served in Bahrain for 6 months.  John loved attending the various
activities of his beloved grandchildren.

Survivors
include wife of over 42 years Jacque Isern of the home; sons, Tim
(Beckie) Isern, Ryan (Tatum) Isern, &amp; Tyler (Cate) Isern; sister,
Jane (Gail) Isern; brothers, Mark (Sheila) Isern and Myron (Jan)
Isern; 9 beloved grandchildren, Blaine, Salena, Keaston, Morgan,
Landry, Mya, Cole, James, and Mason.&nbsp;

Mary A. Smith, 86, passed away on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born on January 28, 1938, in Omaha, Nebraska to George and Agnes (Foral) Stock.

On September 17, 1960, she married the love of her life, Dale Smith, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mary was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. &nbsp;Her faith brought her much joy and she was a blessing to all those who knew her. &nbsp;Mary enjoyed fishing in Minnesota, playing cards with her family and knitting. &nbsp;She especially loved making lifetime memories traveling the world with Dale with their special place being their Minnesota cottage.

Mary loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. &nbsp;She supported them with her continuous spiritual guidance and by cheering them on at sporting events, school activities, graduations and weddings. &nbsp;As a mother and grandmother, Mary was always there to love, care for and help her family through all that life brought their way. &nbsp;She will be dearly missed every day.

Mary is survived by: &nbsp;her husband of 63 years, Dale, and their children, Mark Smith of Hutchinson, Linda Dahm (John) of Overland Park, Kansas, Ron Smith (Karen) of Hutchinson and Margie Doeden (Mark) of Hutchinson; grandchildren: Jack, Joshua, William, Katie (Kyle), Mary Beth (Austin), Stephanie (Nathan), Allison (Nick), Brian (Michelle), Tiffany (Richard), Tim, Mandie, Joshua (Dorothy), Rebecca, Shaun (Stephanie), Jacob (Jill), Michael (Jori) and baby, and Brian; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister, Anne Kramar of Omaha, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.

Smith, 86, passed away on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born on January 28, 1938, in Omaha, Nebraska to George and Agnes (Foral) Stock.On September 17, 1960, she married the love of her life, Dale Smith, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska.Mary was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. &nbsp;Her faith brought her much joy and she was a blessing to all those who knew her. &nbsp;Mary enjoyed fishing in Minnesota, playing cards with her family and knitting. &nbsp;She especially loved making lifetime memories traveling the world with Dale with their special place being their Minnesota cottage.Mary loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. &nbsp;She supported them with her continuous spiritual guidance and by cheering them on at sporting events, school activities, graduations and weddings. &nbsp;As a mother and grandmother, Mary was always there to love, care for and help her family through all that life brought their way. &nbsp;She will be dearly missed every day.Mary is survived by: &nbsp;her husband of 63 years, Dale, and their children, Mark Smith of Hutchinson, Linda Dahm (John) of Overland Park, Kansas, Ron Smith (Karen) of Hutchinson and Margie Doeden (Mark) of Hutchinson; grandchildren: Jack, Joshua, William, Katie (Kyle), Mary Beth (Austin), Stephanie (Nathan), Allison (Nick), Brian (Michelle), Tiffany (Richard), Tim, Mandie, Joshua (Dorothy), Rebecca, Shaun (Stephanie), Jacob (Jill), Michael (Jori) and baby, and Brian; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister, Anne Kramar of Omaha, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by: her parents; in-laws, Carl and Alyce Smith; sister, Margaret Pyle; brother, George Stock; and beloved daughter-in-law, Kristin Smith.Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson, KS, with Father Jerome Spexarth presiding. &nbsp;Graveside service and burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, with the family present from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. JoAnn Lucille Smith, 83, of McPherson, KS, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Cedars House, McPherson KS

JoAnn was born in Kensington, KS on April 28, 1940, a daughter of Florance Lucille (Heath) Taylor and Melburn Earl Taylor, Sr.

JoAnn attended Beloit grade schools and graduated from Beloit High School, Beloit, Kansas.

She attended Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson.

Through the years JoAnn worked for Kit Manufacturing as a final finisher, Road Ranger as a lead, McPherson, Kansas, lunch lady at Windom Elementary School, Windom, Kansas, American Maplan, Ensz Furniture Store as a sales person, daycare provider and she owned and operated her own business called  Parts Plus all of McPherson, Kansas.

JoAnn enjoyed her family, camping, crafts, reading, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

JoAnn Lucille Taylor was united in marriage to Larry Dean Smith on December 17, 1960 in Lincoln, Kansas where they established their first home together. This union was blessed with two daughters, Teresa and  Lisa. Larry passed away November 9, 2017

She is survived by her children, Teresa  Crawford, of McPherson, Kansas and Lisa Komarek (Daniel), of Newton, Kansas. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Jason Crawford (Julia), Nicole Butler (Adam), Heather Crawford, Dustin Komarek (Jenn), and Luke Komarek and 4 great-grandchildren, Caleb Crawford, Oliver Crawford, Cole Butler and  Arista Butler.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Melburn Earl Taylor, Sr. and Florence Lucille (Heath) Taylor; husband Larry Dean Smith; brothers Melburn Earl, Jr., Charles Taylor, Donald "Jack" Taylor and sisters Arloa Moore, Hollie Rice and Betty Henderson.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Glidden - Ediger - Wiggins Chapel, McPherson, KS.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Glidden - Ediger - Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, KS with Father Jorge Lopez officiating.

Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery McPherson, KS.

Gayle P. McKinley (80), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 28, 2024, in Goddard, KS. &nbsp;She was born on June 21, 1943, in Sibley, Iowa, to Jack R. Verhage and Hilda B. Verhage. &nbsp;Gayle was a light in the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished.

Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Keean Bogle, Mitch (Kristin) McKinley, Mindy McKinley, Korin Bogle, Samuel McKinley, Mark McKinley, Maci McKinley, Kyden Bogle, and Le'Angelo McKinley. Gayle is also survived by her best friend and sister Karen Palmer of Tucson, Arizona.She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Terry R. Verhage and brother-in-law Bobby Palmer.Gayle met Bill while attending Kansas State University. &nbsp;They grew in love for each other, for their family and most important, for their united love and faith in Jesus Christ. &nbsp;Over their years together they enjoyed working together in helping and counseling young people, leading marriage focused small groups as well as many other group Bible studies. &nbsp;Gayle spent several years as a leader in a local chapter of Bible Study Fellowship that met in Wichita. &nbsp;Gayle had a passion for helping others that led her to earning a degree in nursing from Kansas University. &nbsp;She worked at Wesley Medical Center as a pediatric and postpartum nurse, touching the lives of countless mothers, babies, and families. &nbsp;Beyond nursing, Gayle was a teacher, school secretary, and even operated her own daycare, always putting the needs of others first.Gayle was unwavering in her faith and she loved and longed for Jesus, not just for herself, but she longed for all of her family and friends to experience and know the eternal security found only in a relationship with Jesus Christ. She found happiness in serving and volunteering in her community and she loved to sing both Christian and patriotic music. &nbsp;She also loved tending her gardens and greenhouse and taking care of her beloved flowers. Gayle's warm and welcoming nature meant that she was always surrounded by loved ones and ready to care for anyone who crossed her path.A funeral service to honor and celebrate Gayle's life will be held at Church at the Cross, 2901 Taft Street, Wichita, KS, on April 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. &nbsp;Burial will follow at Maize Park Cemetery at 12733 W 53rd Street North, Maize KS 67101.If you would like, you can plant a flower in remembrance of Gayle, reflecting her love for nature and beauty.Gayle P McKinley leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness.
