Lewis Albert “Louie” Latham, Jr., 82, died November 13, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born December 30, 1941, in Hardenville, MO, to Lewis Andrew and Marguerite Elizabeth (Lyman) Latham, Sr.
Louie graduated from Buhler High School in 1959. He worked at Cessna/Eaton as a machinist for 43 years. Louie enjoyed anything outdoors such as fishing, hunting, water skiing, and fixing whatever might need repaired. He also had a green thumb, and could grow anything, from vegetables to flowers. Louie and his wife, Bobbi, have been purple martin “landlords” for almost 40 years, with the purple martins always finding their way back to the homes that Louie built for them.
On May 21, 1997, he married Bobbi (Donaldson) Baker, in Stafford, VA.
Louie is survived by: his wife, Bobbi Latham of Hutchinson; children, Vicki Huston (Tracy) of Hutchinson, Mark Latham (Kiersten) of Pittsford, MI, Darren Latham (Chelsey) of Mascoutah, IL, Tracy Simmons (Shawn) of South Hutchinson, Travis Jones (Debbie) of Ruther Glen, VA, and Courtney Peak (Dustin) of Buhler; sister, Phyllis Kerschner of Hutchinson; in-laws, Bob and Lauralee Donaldson of Hutchinson; over 70 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his four-legged sidekick, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Jimmie Latham and Glen Latham; brother-in-law, Lonnie Kerschner; and son-in-law, Joshua Peak.
Louie’s memorial service will be announced at a later date. Friends can sign his memorial book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
