Myron Duane Biehler, 71, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away July 8, 2024, at his home. He was born February 15, 1953, in Lyons, the son of Howard R. and Lois J. (Doughty) Biehler. Myron was a lifelong Rice County resident. He graduated from Bushton High School with the class of 1971, and later attended Garden City Community College, where he ran track and played football. Myron was a cowboy and craftsman. He was a member of the Frederick Baptist Church, where he was baptized; and was a lifetime member of the NRA. Myron enjoyed horses, horseshoeing, and welding. 

Myron is survived by his seven children, Roger Biehler and wife Brandy of Ashland, KS, Troy Biehler and wife Catie of Hutchinson, KS, Melinda Brewton and husband Lucas of Concord, NC, Lyndsey Winter and husband Aaron of Wichita, KS, Alex Biehler and wife Amanda of Winston-Salem, NC, Josh Biehler and fiancé Liza Johnson of Wichita, KS, and Robert Biehler of Wichita, KS; brother, Merle Biehler of Great Bend, KS; sister, Kathy Drake and husband Dave of Great Bend, KS; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gwen Rogers.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Curtis Fitzgerald officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 15, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Burial will follow at the Frederick Cemetery, Frederick, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Reins of Hope in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.

Michael Wayne Butler, 67, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, surrounded by his family at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp;

He was born on May 8, 1957, in Hutchinson, KS, the second son of Jerry M. and Dorothy A. (Decker) Butler.&nbsp; Mike graduated from McPherson High School in 1975.&nbsp; On June 3, 1977, He was united in marriage to Julie Ann Schlehuber in Canton, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children, Dustin and Sarah.

Mike worked as a pipeline and station operator at Enterprise Products (MAPCO &amp; Williams Energy) for over 30 years.&nbsp;

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Julie; a son, Dustin (Katie) Butler of Lawrence, KS; a daughter, Sarah (J.D.) Reeves of Augusta, KS; four grandchildren, Addison Butler, Jacie Butler, Avery Swemke, and Rylen Reeves; a brother, Steve Butler of McPherson, KS; and a beloved black lab, Maggie May.

A celebration of life (come &amp; go) will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Jean Loreen Newton was born on October 8, 1942 and welcomed into God’s loving arms on July 7, 2024.

Jean joined our Diversicare Family on August 23, 2023. Prior to her admission to our center, Jean lived in the Hutchinson community. It isn’t uncommon to have residents in our center that come without much of a history, but we were able to gather some information about our sweet friend.

Jean reported to her best friend and roommate, Cindy, that she grew up in Pratt, KS. She told her she finished 7th grade, then began working. Jean said she was close to her mother growing up and had a brother. She did have a significant other who passed away from cancer a number of years ago. She did not have any children and she did not believe she had any living family members.

But a person’s history is only a fraction of his or her story. In her 11 months with us, Jean touched many hearts with her kindness, and her final chapter was a beautiful one.

Jean was never without a smile. She often spoke about how lucky she was to get to live in our center surrounded by her friends. She loved animals, playing BINGO, doing puzzles, and reading her romance novels. She didn’t talk much about her faith but did say that she was Baptist and that she very much enjoyed Bible Study. She did talk about the Chiefs, though! And even convinced her roommate who had never much enjoyed football to watch every game of the 23-24 season.

We didn’t need to know about her past to know what an honor it was to be a part of her present. Jean was such a blessing to our Diversicare Family and will be forever missed.

Jacqueline (Jacquie) Susanne Balzer passed away peacefully early Friday July 5. She was the daughter of Jack and Betty Clifton. She was born in Kensington, KS and lived most of her life in Newton, KS. She met the love of her life in high school, Francis Balzer. They were married on September 16, 1967, and have been inseparable ever since.&nbsp;

Jacquie was mother to three children raising them to be loving, caring and faithful individuals. She and Fran lived their dream of owning a business, Fran’s Carpet Gallery. She also worked as an Executive Assistant at Prairie View. She loved to read, and following retirement, she donated her time at their church, Koerner Heights acting as the librarian. The joy of her life was her family. Trips to the lake (even though she couldn’t swim), taking the grandkids to antique stores to get a small gift, a quick trip to Sonic or Braums and playing games (but had to read the instructions first - which drove the family crazy). She especially loved Christmas when she filled her home with every homemade Christmas cookie and snack possible. She loved the tradition of attending the Christmas Eve service at Koerner Heights, then coming home to eat chili and opening gifts as the whole family.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Jack and Betty Clifton, her grandmother and uncle that were so special to her, Faye Clifton and David Clifton, and her brother Gary Clifton. She leaves behind her sole mate, Francis Balzer, three children Jason (Stacy) Balzer, Stefanie (Steve) Roth and David (Amanda) Balzer and 8 grandchildren (the joys of her life): Jeremy Balzer, Sydney Balzer, Tyler Roth, Jaden Roth, Paige Roth, Taylor Balzer, Mason Balzer and Gavin Balzer.&nbsp;

Jacquie’s visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday July 11th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM (visitation) and Friday July 12th at 2:00 PM (Celebration of Life) at Koerner Heights Church, followed by a Graveside service at Newton’s Greenwood Cemetery. All are welcome to join the Balzer family for a light dinner at Koerner Heights immediately after the Graveside service.

Mark Allen Sutton, 61, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 20, 1962 in Nashville, Kansas to Oliver Lee Sutton and Jean (Harding) Jenson.

Mark attended Cullison High School. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. He enjoyed playing guitar and listening to music, especially 70's and 90's Rock. He also enjoyed attending car shows and races.

He is survived by his sister, Gale (Ralph) Voss of Pratt; brother in-law, Mike Carmichael of Cullison; and several nieces and nephews as well as many greats and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sue Carmichael; and brother, Larry (Denise) Sutton.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 at Coats Cemetery, Coats with The Reverend Karen Lemon presiding.

'The rumble of the pipes told her he'd arrived. Her leather-clad knight on his steed of chrome. She'd waited for him for what felt like forever.'

Gibbo Pierson, 96, rode off into the sunset on July 8, 2024. He was born on July 15, 1927, in the Hutchinson home his grandfather built at 734 Cole Ave. It is the property he returned to and lived out his life on. Gibbo was the son of Charlie Con and Isabel (Cole) Pierson.

On April 22, 1947, Gibbo married Georgia Robinson. They shared 75 years of marriage before her death on March 11, 2022.

Gibbo retired from Cessna in 1967 and, together with his wife Georgia, began running their leather shop, Gibbo's Saddle and Leather, full-time for the next 50 years. He made a name for himself as being highly skilled in custom leather craft.

After raising their two daughters, Gibbo and Georgia traveled extensively. They especially enjoyed the many years they traveled along the Pacific coast of Mexico in their motor home for three to six months at a time.

In his 74 years of motorcycling, Gibbo rode countless miles throughout the United States and abroad. He'd ridden in 13 of the 25 different countries he'd traveled to. His favorite place to ride was through the Swiss Alps. He was thrilled to attend the annual motorcycle race on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. He had countless adventures riding through Mexico to the Pacific coast and traveling up and down that coast many times.

Gibbo was a member of a black powder club, the Prairie Pups Motorcycle Club, and rode with both chapters of the ROMEOS. He was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association and rode until he was 91.

A builder of motorcycles, he built several choppers, one of which was featured in Chopper Magazine in 1970. Gibbo built houses with Habitat for Humanity locally, as well as in Alabama and Paraguay. He volunteered with the Reno County Toy Run and with Reins of Hope, both from their inception. Gibbo is one of Hatteburg's people and was also featured in Hutchinson magazine. Gibbo built the homes he lived in with his own hands.

Gibbo left this world, having done everything he'd dreamed of doing and having traveled everywhere he'd ever wanted to go. Whether bicycling the Yucatan, cruising through the Panama Canal, or attending Arctic Man in Alaska, his life was one of adventure!

Gibbo worked hard to provide for his family. He was always there for his parents and siblings in the very last moments of their lives. His family was very important to him.

He had many lifetime friends who could always count on him. There was never a time in Gibbo's life that he was not helping others, many times behind the scenes, and that is his legacy.

Gibbo is survived by his two daughters, Bonny Pierson and Bunny Dellinger, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

In Heaven, he joins his wife, Georgia; parents; son-in-law, Ed Dellinger; sisters, Vera, Veora, and Roseamond; brothers, Elmo, Clyde, and John Paul.

Tyler Yang Furness (Lakey) was joyfully welcomed as he crawled into the arms of Jesus on Saturday July 6, 2024.

Tyler was born on October 4th, 2023 in Newton to Aubrie Lakey and Gordon Furness.

Tyler loved his momma, his face lit up when she entered the room. At nine months old, a few of Tyler's favorite things were crawling, eating food (especially when momma made it with grown up food in it), going on walks to the library, reading Llama Llama books, and saying "bubba". Tyler had started daycare at Angel Wings in Newton where he quickly gained the affections of his teachers. He was increasingly happy to be among groups of people and share smiles and giggles.

In addition to his parents, Tyler leaves behind his half-siblings: Isaac, Emily, and Rachel Furness of McPherson, his maternal grandparents Chris and Tami Lakey of Newton and paternal grandparents Charles and Carrie Furness of Solomon, KS. Also surviving are great-grandparents Emil and Ralene Bergquist of Park City, Robert and Sharon Lakey of Wichita, and TJ and Eileen Rohleder of Lehigh.

Sweet Tyler will be so greatly missed by his aunties and uncles: Ashleigh, Austin and Emma, Amy, Anna, and Abraham Lakey. His precious cousins, Cora and Charlotte Lakey, will miss playing with him. Many more loving extended family members and friends also share in our sorrow.

Darrell Richard Halbert, 77, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2024, at his residence.

Darrell was born in Little River, Kansas on May 4, 1947, the son of Darrell Vance and Lillian Alma (Langhammer) Halbert.

Darrell attended Windom grade school and graduated from Windom High School.

Through the years Darrell worked for WR Mill, Kansas Dept. of Corrections and Kentucky Dept. of Corrections.

Darrell enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, race cars and dirt track racing, car shows and spending time with his friends and family.

Darrell was united in marriage to Evelyn Stevens on August 7,1982 in McPherson. Evelyn died March 3, 2023.

He is survived by his children, Tondra (Robert) Fry of Mansfield, TX, Jacque (Blake) Cutrer of St. Francisville, LA, and Richard T. Halbert of Shreveport, LA; step daughter, Sandy (David) Abell, of Louisville, KY; step son, Craig (Kathy) Stephens of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Larry Halbert of Medora, KS, Kurt Halbert of Hutchinson, KS, and Alan (Christine) Halbert of Lyons, KS; sister, Ruby (Tony) Navarro of Emporia, KS; and 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn; and sister, Linda Hutchinson.

Dennis W. Teter, 81, of Buhler, died July 7, 2024, at his home. He was born April 12, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Melvin “Mutt” and Norma (Schanbacher) Teter.&nbsp;

Dennis graduated from Buhler High School in 1961 and attended Hutchinson Community College, where he attained his associate degree. For his bachelor’s degree in business, Dennis attended the University of Kansas, where he graduated first in his class. He worked as a certified public accountant for over 40 years.&nbsp;

Dennis was a devoted fan of Jayhawk basketball and the Hutchinson Blue Dragons. He enjoyed attending the rodeo and watching stock car races. Wherever Dennis went, he always carried a book with him. While he particularly appreciated reading western stories, all books and genres were welcome to him. &nbsp;

On June 12, 1971, he married Sherry J. Beavers at Bethany Church of the Nazarene. They shared 51 years of marriage, before her death on February 9, 2023.&nbsp;

Dennis is survived by: daughter, Amy (Marshall) Jackson of Nickerson; son, Justin (Amy Speirs) Teter of Wichita; brother, Douglas (Vicki) Teter of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Teter, Jasmyne Armstrong, Kaylee Teter, Draven Armstrong; great-grandchild, Hazel Murray; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved grand-pup Apollo.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Sherry Teter; sister, Peggy Moffett; brother, Richard Teter, and infant brother, Billy.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will take place at a later date.&nbsp;

Carl Lee Thompson, age 74, of McPherson, KS, peacefully entered his Heavenly home on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital (St. Francis) in Wichita.

Born on July 28, 1949, in Beloit, KS, Carl was the son of Glen S. and Iris A. (Maley) Thompson. On October 28, 1967, he was united in marriage to Karla Kay Bose at St. John Lutheran Church in Athol, Kansas.

Carl worked as a line supervisor at Kit Manufacturing and later retired from ATP (Keystone Railway), where he worked in fabrication and was a machine operator. Beyond his full-time job, he oversaw maintenance for Oak Park Townhomes for several years.

A man of many passions, Carl found joy in playing pool, practicing martial arts, and engaging in carpentry projects. However, the greatest delight of his life was his granddaughters, Avery and Cadence, who were the apple of his eye. Known for his generosity, Carl would give the shirt off his back to help others in need. He was a devoted husband, father, and a friend to all who knew him.

Carl’s patriotism was evident in his service to his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was a Radar Operator. He was a life member of the McPherson V.F.W. Post #2715, where he was a past officer and contributed to many of the post’s activities.&nbsp; In 2017, Carl had the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC as part of the Kansas Honor Flight.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Karla; his sons, Kyle Thompson and Chad Thompson, both of McPherson, KS; and his treasured granddaughters, Avery and Cadence Thompson. He is also survived by his brothers, Allen, Terry, and Tracy Thompson; his sister, Vola Conrad; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robert “Bob,” Arthur “Archie,” Dale, and Billy Thompson; and his sisters, Elsie Crawford and Pearl Tieking.

A celebration of Carl’s life, with Military Honors, will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the McPherson V.F.W. Post #2715, 120 S. Taft St., McPherson, KS, commemorating what would have been his 75th birthday.

David C. Moore, 87 died July 6, 2024, at his Rural Sedgwick Home. He was born March 13, 1937, in Dover Pope, Arkansas to David and Retna Ann (Jones) Moore. On December 18, 1955, he married Joyce Hardiman at Wichita, Kansas and she survives of the home.

David was a retired construction equipment operator. He was a longtime active member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Newton.

David is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; son David (Barbara) Moore; daughters Nancy (Bob) Ulrich and Susan (David) McDonald; brother Lynn Moore; sister Shirley Jeffers. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one infant son Gary Alan Moore.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church in Newton with Pastor Steve Julius presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick, Kansas.

Lula Naomi Mullins, 85, of Hutchinson, died July 6, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born April 14, 1939, in Beloit, to Rufus and Opal I. (Ridenour) Brott.

Lula held various jobs over the years and retired from McDonalds, where she worked as a cashier for over 25 years. Lula loved spending time with her family, John Wayne movies, and her cats.

She is survived by: her daughter, Kay Purdue (Joel); sons, Roy Brott (Hazel), John Mullins, Marc Mullins, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Dewayne Hoffman (Michelle), Jennifer Nuest (Dustin), all of Hutchinson, Paige Brott (Leah Zimmerli) of Wichita, Jacob Brott of Hutchinson; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; beloved cat, T.J.; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlotte Ruth Berger; and brothers, Calvin Akin and Clyde Brott.

Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Warren Wild, 82, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.  He was born in Chicago on December 10, 1941, to the late Wayne and Helen Wild and grew up in Storm Lake, IA. 

 Warren graduated from Buena Vista College with degrees in Math, English and History, and completed his masters degree at the University of South Dakota (Vermillion).  He worked initially as a teacher and a writer and then for many years as an actuary at Alliance Life in McPherson, Kansas. He was married to his loving wife Andrea for 51 years. 

Warren enjoyed playing tennis and exercising, loved reading and following world events and had a great love for animals.  Warren is survived by his son Ron, brother Jerry and sister Pat.  Private services will be held.

Daniel Lee Lott Jr., 59, of Wichita Kansas, passed away on July 4, 2024. 

He was born on June 10, 1965, to Daniel Lee Lott Sr. and Kathryn Alice (Tucker) Rickard. He leaves behind his children Sarah (and David) Grandstaff &amp; Samantha Lott, grandchildren Elijah &amp; Phoebe, and girlfriend Jackie Rubin. 

Daniel started his career installing security systems before becoming an electrician. He was also an experienced welder and mechanic. Daniel was a classic car enthusiast and could often be found working on his 1965 Mustang GT and his 1972 GMC Sierra pick-up truck. 

He enjoyed gardening, cooking and grilling, camping, fishing, listening to music, and spending time with loved ones. Before having children, Daniel also enjoyed riding motorcycles and attending music concerts.

Daniel’s Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday July 11th at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1601 S. Main Street, Wichita, KS 67213.

Daniel Lee Lott Jr. |1965-2024|

Douglas Jay Hein, son of Harold James and Beverly Marie (Laubhan) Hein was born September 5, 1962, in Marion, KS.&nbsp; Doug attended McPherson, KS schools and graduated from McPherson High School.

Doug’s passion was collecting cars and trucks, especially later models.&nbsp; He would spend hours putting together model kits and painting them.&nbsp; He loved Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Most of them are still displayed in their original boxes.&nbsp; Doug also loved playing card games like UNO and Solitaire and taking short drives while listening to country music.&nbsp; In his younger years, he was always seen driving late model cars, like a Camaro or El Camino.&nbsp;

Doug loved his sister, Janet and her husband, Greg, his nieces, Megan, Mollie, and Meranda, his great-nieces, Peyton and Kaelynn, and great-nephews, Kendrick, Karston, Logan, and Karter.&nbsp;

Doug died unexpectedly on June 26, 2024, at his home at the age of 61.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a niece Melissa Lynn Thompson.

Surviving family members include his sister, Janet Thompson and her husband, Greg; a niece, Megan Shaw and children, Kendrick Niemeyer, Kaelynn Shaw, Karston Shaw, and Karter Shaw; a niece, Mollie Klein and her husband, Ross, and children, Peyton Klein and Logan Klein; a niece, Meranda Thompson; and several close family members in Dallas, TX and surrounded areas.

A private family graveside service will be held in McPherson Cemetery at a later date.&nbsp;

Brenda Kay Pipkin, 75, of Cheney, died on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center after a battle with cancer. She was born March 5, 1949, in Hardtner, KS, to Charles and Hazel (Warren) Kaminska.

She grew up on a farm east of Medicine Lodge and graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1967. She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and was a Medicine Lodge Baptist Church member. After high school, she enrolled in the School of Cosmetology in Hutchinson where she received her license in 1969. On August 22, 1969, she married Ken Pipkin in Medicine Lodge. They settled down on a farm south of Cheney, KS. Brenda worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. J. O. Tipps in Cheney and Dr. Richard Davis in Kingman.

Brenda enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables. She was a fan of KU Athletics and Dale Earnhardt. She enjoyed watching all types of sporting events, especially those in which her children and grandchildren were active.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Ken Pipkin; sons, Chad Pipkin and Kyle (Megan) Pipkin, all of Cheney, KS; granddaughters, Camdyn, Hadley, and Carter Pipkin, Cheney, KS; brother, Brent Kaminska, Medicine Lodge, KS; and nephew, Brandon Kaminska, Medicine Lodge, KS. &nbsp;

Otto “Butch” Henning, 81, died July 5th 2024 at The Cottages in Shawnee, KS. &nbsp; Butch was born February 23, 1943 in Kingman, KS. &nbsp;Son to Otto Henning and Viola (Kathman) Henning. &nbsp;Butch was the second oldest of 6 siblings.&nbsp;

He graduated from Kingman High and Wichita State University. &nbsp;Butch taught at Kapaun High School following his graduation and then moved to Hutchinson in 1969 where he continued his teaching and coaching career for 33 years. &nbsp;He enjoyed working with young people and particularly loved coaching football! &nbsp;

Butch married his wife Mary Jane Harter on January 23rd, 1965 in Wichita, KS. &nbsp;Butch was a devout Catholic and his devotion to his faith, family and friends will always be remembered. &nbsp;

Butch is proceeded in death by his wife Mary Jane, his father and mother, Otto and Viola Henning and siblings Ron Henning, Diane Thimesch and Gary Henning.&nbsp;

He is survived by his sons Jeff and Michele Henning, Corey and Vivian Henning, Casey and Amee Henning. Hazel is survived by her daughters, Sally Jennings, Dorothy Bird, Josephine Gilton, Ruth Striplin, sons, Vernon Buster Lowe, Jim E Lowe, and Billy Lee Lowe, her brother Roscoe Lashley, and numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Buelah, and her husband of 48 years, Vernon Leroy Lowe. 

Hazel loved the outdoors and her family. She was always a homemaker and loved taking care of children. She was a true farm girl who enjoyed that lifestyle, from raising chickens and milking cows to gardening or fishing.

Eugene “Don” Chalfant, 92, passed away July 6, 2024, at his home
in Great Bend, Kansas. He was born on November 27, 1931, in Kinsley,
Kansas, to Charles and Irene (Curtright) Chalfant. On April 5, 1958,
he married Vivian True in Hutchinson, Kansas. She passed on August 8,
2012.

A
resident of Great Bend for 60 years, Don worked as a lab technician,
later shifting to an optician lab technician, then driving the bus
for the Great Bend Senior Center for 15 years. Prior to his careers,
he proudly served his country in the United States Army, as well as
the United States Navy Reserves. Don was a member of First Christian
Church and Silver Cougar Club. He enjoyed attending Great Bend
Community Theater Productions, golfing at Lake Barton Golf Club, and
was an active volunteer at the Senior Center, from serving drinks to
helping wherever he was needed.

Survivors
include son, Mark Chalfant and wife Tammy of Andover; daughter, Cindy
Hubbell and husband Steve of Spearville; five grandchildren, Drew
Hubbell and wife Ashley, Sarah Connelly and husband Blake, Jeff
Hubbell and wife Uriah, Tara Moppin and husband Travis, and Matt
Chalfant and wife Courtney; ten great grandchildren, Avery, Landree

Charlene graduated from Wyandotte High School, Kansas City, KS, where she was the head cheerleader, editor of the school newspaper, and lettered in synchronized swimming. &nbsp;While at KU, she was a member of Gamma Phi sorority. &nbsp;In addition, Charlene enjoyed painting, sculpting, and playing the piano. &nbsp;She was a 50-year member of P.E.O. Chapter Q, thus earning the distinction of a “Golden Girl”. &nbsp;Charlene was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. &nbsp; She was a devoted and proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On March 14, 1953, she married R. Clark Wesley, in Kansas City, KS.

Charlene is survived by: &nbsp;husband, R. Clark Wesley of Hutchinson; children, Dr. Michael Wesley (Kelly) of Hutchinson, Cynthia Marion (Reverend Michael) of Wichita, and Rebecca Wesley (Lou Valdez) of Colorado Springs. CO; grandchildren, Amber Manns, Jonathan Wesley, Megan Smith, Ashlee Elwell, Austin Elwell, Rheeanon Wesley, Heidi Gordon, Joshua Marion, Katherine Marion, Jennifer Ruzich, and Emily Lawrence; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister-in-law, Nancy Foerschler of Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Hugh Foerschler.

Jackie (Jack) Wayne
Adrian, born Dec 19th, 1958, of Buhler, Kansas, went to see Jesus on
July 7th, 2024, at 6:00 am. Jack leaves behind his wife of 44 years,
Vicki Adrian. His son Josh, his wife Cassie, and their children Ruth,
Charlotte, and Harvey of Manhattan, KS. His daughter Jenny Hands, her
husband Trevor, and their son Graden of Garden City, KS. His sisters
Paula Strasser (Bob) of Dallas, TX, and Vicki Stobbe (Ken) of Newton,
KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Lovella
Adrian, from Buhler, KS. Jack grew up in and was a long-time member
of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren church and then First Nazarene
Church of Hutchinson. His Faith in Jesus was deeply important to him
and his Family.&nbsp;


Jack, a true son of
Buhler, KS, was a child who adored fishing, building things, and
spending time on his grandpa's farm in Burlington. His love for
farming was deep. In high school, he rented a small piece of land to
grow watermelons, using his International Scout to disc the soil.
After school, Jack ventured into home building and construction
before fulfilling his dream by purchasing a farm east of Buhler in
1984. After 18 years of farming, he switched gears and opened a used
car dealership in South Hutchinson.&nbsp;





Jack met his wife
Vicki on a chance encounter at the Grovesner House Hotel in London,
England while attending a Shaklee International sales convention in
1977; they married in 1979. Jack and Vicki did almost everything
together. Vicki owned Adrians A-to-Z (Adrians Boutique). As a farmer,
Jack may not have seemed to fit the part, but he was integral to the
Boutique women's store. He designed and built booths for the Kansas
State Fair and other shows, built the store on Main St, and created
countless displays over the years. On several occasions, he would
work the booth alone, selling trendy women's clothing.


Jack enjoyed people
and showed love for others by chiding them about whatever would get a
reaction. He could be found most mornings in Buhler sitting around a
table with others, drinking coffee.&nbsp; Jack enjoyed fishing with
his grandpa, his children, his grandchildren, and finally, to his
great joy, late in life with his wife. Jack enjoyed searching for and
finding things, like two-cylinder John Deere tractors, 1960s Fords,
vintage firearms, old advertising signs, and unique places to stay
and eat wherever he went. Jack was a gifted woodworker building
things that would make Norm Abrams jealous. Most of all, Jack loved
designing, creating, and building projects of many different types;
unfortunately, many of his projects, just like his life, remain
unfinished. Jack Adrian died at the age of 65.&nbsp;

Funeral
services will be on Saturday, July 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at First
Nazarene Church of Hutchinson (Inspire Church), 4290 N Monroe St,
with a faspa and opportunity to share about Jack following the
service. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.,
Friday, July 12th
at the Buhler Mortuary, 120 N Main St, Buhler. In lieu of flowers,
Jack requested donations to The Jesus Film Harvest Partners

designing, creating, and building projects of many different types;
unfortunately, many of his projects, just like his life, remain
unfinished. Jack Adrian died at the age of 65.&nbsp;
Funeral
services will be on Saturday, July 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at First
Nazarene Church of Hutchinson (Inspire Church), 4290 N Monroe St,
with a faspa and opportunity to share about Jack following the
service. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.,
Friday, July 12th
at the Buhler Mortuary, 120 N Main St, Buhler. In lieu of flowers,

Martha Lou Abernathy passed away on July 4, 2024, in South Hutchinson, KS at Mennonite Friendship Communities, after a long battle with cancer.

Marti was born to Clair and Bonnie Gagnebin on October 12, 1951, in Hutchinson, KS. She grew up in Plevna, KS and was a graduate of Fairfield High School.

Marti married the love of her life in 1977. Marti and Dave moved from Hutchinson, KS to Marti’s family home in the Plevna area in 1983. Marti retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&amp;T after 30 years of dedicated employment. Marti was very passionate about politics and volunteered many years locally at the voting booths. Marti was an avid collector. She collected Pez dispensers and miniature telephones and pretty rocks from places that she traveled over the years. She enjoyed teaching water aerobics at the YMCA. Marti was a great storyteller which is a special talent she passed down to her sons.

Marti is survived by her husband David Abernathy of Plevna; sons, Brady (Tiffany) Cooper, Jason Abernathy, and Justin Abernathy; eight grandchildren, Jacob (Shelby) Cooper, Tasha (Dan) Dieker, Mackala (Chris) Herrin, Adrianna Cooper, Autumn Griffith, Lillie Griffith, Caedan Griffith, and Aspen Abernathy; and eight great grandchildren; siblings Bonnie (Gary) Hutchinson, Russell (Shirley) Gagnebin, Glenn (Donna) Gagnebin, Ron Gagnebin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Tom and Jerry Taylor, eldest son Brian Cooper and his wife.&nbsp;

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.

Martha "Marti" Lou Abernathy |1951-2024|

James P. Grossardt, D.V.M. (age 76) of Siloam Springs, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Jim was born December 26, 1947 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Harold C. and Vivian E. (Radenberg) Grossardt. He graduated from Claflin High School in 1965 and later earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1971 from Kansas State University.

Jim served as rank of Captain in the Army Veterinary Corp from 1971 to 1973, stationed at Fort Snelling, St. Paul, Minnesota

On May 28, 1972, he married Linda A Hoffman in Lawrence, Kansas. A daughter Jill and son Mark were born to this union.

In 1974, Jim purchased a mixed animal veterinary practice in Minden, Nebraska and was a solo practitioner for forty years. He was a member of AVMA and NVMA. Jim served on the Minden school board for eight years as well as serving on the Minden Opera House board. His love of music was expressed through the Minden Community Players where he performed in many musical productions. He was a member of the Minden and Siloam Springs Rotary clubs for over 45 years.

Jim was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Minden, Nebraska and the New Life Church in Kearney, Nebraska. Throughout this time, he served as a lay pastor, board member, and 3rd grade and senior high Sunday school teacher. He served as an AWANA leader, with Walk to Emmaus retreats, and during Summer camps at Camp Comeca.

Upon retirement, volunteering made his life rich. He was a volunteer at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary in the material management department as well as New Life Ranch and Siloam's community Joy Choir. Jim was a member of New Life Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where he enjoyed serving on the advisory board, as a small group leader, usher team leader, coffee connection host, and cast member in the Easter drama

Survivors include his wife Linda; daughter Jill Werst with husband Bill and granddaughter Hope of Elgin, Illinois; son Mark Grossardt with wife Amy, granddaughter Eva and grandson Roman of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters Joan Sutton of Topeka, Kansas and Marie Bachman of Susank, Kansas; brother Dr. Ted Grossardt with wife Gretchen of Lexington, Kentucky; and a delightful group of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life – Welcome Home service will be at New Life Church in Siloam Springs, AR on Friday July 12, 2024 at 10:00 am while a private internment of ashes will be at a later date in Lawrence, Kansas.
