Joe A. Banks, 74, of Hutchinson, died surrounding by his family on May 16, 2025, at his home. He was born February 20, 1951, in Stafford to Howard and Millie (Rice) Banks. 

Joe graduated from Fairfield High School with the class of 1969. After graduation, he joined the United States Marines and proudly served for four years, including a tour in Vietnam. 

Joe was a creative and hard worker who owned his own business, Aztech Tool Company, for many years. He machined and created molds, tools, and engineer parts for multiple Arizona businesses. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face. He also had an affinity for shelter dogs and adopted several throughout the years.  

In May of 1989, he married Debra Withroder-Long. They shared 36 beautiful years together before his death. 

Joe is survived by: beloved wife, Debra Banks of Hutchinson; children, Matthew (Marnie) Banks of Arizona, Yvette Banks of Arizona, step-children; Todd (Crystal) Long of Hutchinson, Brooke (John) Garcia of Washington; sisters, Bonnie White and Peggy Tolbert; brother, Kenneth Banks and Howard Lee Banks; grandchildren, Casey Banks, Hailey Banks, Zionna Banks, Michael (Kirstin) Garcia, Brianna Colin-Garcia (Paul) Colin-Lopez, Adam Garcia, Cole (Taylor) Long, Kirsten (Payton) Miller, and Desmond Banks; and numerous great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Bruce Banks; and grandchildren, Steven Banks, Amitty Banks, and Eric Long. 

Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Robert J. Dole Department of Veterans Affairs and Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
