
John “Kirk” Cottingham, 85, of Hutchinson, died May 19, 2025, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson. He was born July 21, 1939, in McPherson, to John and Vivian (Steeves) Cottingham.
Kirk graduated from Newton High School in 1957 and obtained his bachelor’s degree from University of Kansas in 1961. He was a financial advisor with A.G. Edwards before retiring in 2000. Kirk was a long-time member of Kiwanis Club of Downtown Hutchinson and an avid supporter and contributor of the Boys and Girls Club of Hutchinson. He spent many hours on golf courses as it was his favorite hobby.
On November 14, 1998, he married Eileen Miller in Hutchinson. They shared 26 beautiful years together before his death.
Kirk is survived by: beloved wife, Eileen Cottingham; children, Jay (Sheri) Cottingham and Anna (Paul) Ondreika; grandchildren, Emma Cottingham, Alexandria and Sydney Ondreika; step-children, Dale (Tonya) Ferguson, Kevin Ferguson, Mike Ferguson, and Celia Ferguson; and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, and twin brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Judy Cottingham.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Journey @ South Hutchinson. Family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Friends may sign his book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
