
Deborah A. “Deb” Benbrook, 67, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 19, 1957, in Hutchinson to Glen and Shirley (Ray) Jenks. Deb was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose selfless spirit and generous heart touched everyone she met. She had a deep love for her family—always putting them first—and she found her greatest joy in the moments spent with her children and grandchildren.
Beautiful both inside and out, Deb dedicated her life to caring for others. For many years, she served the Nickerson School District as a beloved school bus driver. She took great pride in safely transporting generations of children, forming connections with families and becoming a fixture in the community.
On April 27, 2002, Deb married the love of her life, Howard “Sonny” Benbrook. Together they shared 23 cherished years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.
Deb is survived by her husband, Sonny Benbrook of Hutchinson; five children: Chris (Adriana) Armbruster of Haslet, TX; Bill (Samantha) Armbruster of San Antonio, TX; David “Bryce” Terry of Hutchinson; Mindy (AJ) Behrendt of Hutchinson; and Jamey (Abe) Taylor of Nickerson. She is also survived by her mother, Shirley Payne of Hutchinson; sisters: Susan Heath and Rina Borecky of Hutchinson, and Jackie Hicks of Kansas City, MO; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will carry on her legacy of love.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Jenks; grandparents; and one beloved aunt.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025. As per Deb’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
