Janna Vivian Huschka, 68, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at her home in Hutchinson, Kansas. Janna was born June 8, 1955, in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of James and Joyce (Mohr) Lofland. On August 20, 1977, she married Kurt Huschka in Great Bend, KS. They shared 46 years of marriage together.

Janna graduated from Great Bend High School in 1973 and attended Barton Community College. She was a childcare provider and worked for Childcare Links in Hutchinson. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. She attended Central Baptist Church in Great Bend.

Janna was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Lofland Jr., and a sister, Julia Barnes.

Survivors include her husband, Kurt; a son, Clint (Bianca) Huschka; a daughter, Bonnie Huschka-Cole; siblings, Jill (Derrel) Hopper, Jerry (Paige) Lofland, and Jackie (Lowayne) Lofland-Goosen; and four granddaughters, Lily Huschka, Savannah Huschka, Melita Huschka and Zoey Cole.

Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.

Mary Jo “Jody” Velten, 81, died March 20, 2024, at her home in Arlington. She was born April 1, 1942, in Somerset, Kentucky, to John and Lois (Russell) Hood.

Jody graduated from Somerset High School in 1960, and went on to graduate from Berea College with a Chemistry degree and minor in Microbiology in 1964. She did graduate work at McNeese State University and UC Irvine, studying chemistry. Jody worked in the chemistry field for several years before staying home to care for her family.

On June 1, 1964, she married Terry Velten, in Berea, Kentucky. They shared nearly 60 years together.

Jody is survived by: husband, Terry Velten, Arlington; son, Joe Velten, Lancaster, South Carolina; daughter, Mimi Leis (Kurt), Wichita; sister, Jean Hanson (Dan), Chattanooga, Tennessee; brothers, Jim Hood (Linda), Savannah, Georgia, Bill Hood (Kim), Dallas, Georgia; grandchildren, Abigail Leis, Sophia Leis, Tanner Velten (Jennifer), Ryan Velten, Karley Velten (Joseph); step grandchild, Adrian Hewett; and great-grandson, Roman Taylor.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Robert Hood; and daughter-in-law, Joanna Hewett.

Jeremy Mitchell, cherished husband, father, son, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 20th, 2024, leaving behind a profound legacy of love and laughter. He was the beloved husband of Anna Mitchell, devoted father to Jaci Mitchell, Jadin Stoner, Isabella Mitchell, and Norah Mitchell, and proud grandfather of Brooks Stoner. Jeremy's parents, Vicki Mitchell and Steve Mitchell, also mourn his loss deeply.

With a career spanning 17 years in the car industry, Jeremy dedicated himself as a finance manager, leaving a mark of professionalism and integrity. He found immense joy in grilling, flexing his handyman muscles around the house, and embracing beauty in all forms. Larry Barnett Kavouras, 74, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at his home in the Kansas countryside near Lindsborg, KS.&nbsp; He was born on July 13, 1949, in Robinson, Illinois, the son of George and Charlotte Kavouras.&nbsp;

Larry met Bev, the love of his life, while attending high school in McPherson, and they married in McPherson January 18, 1970.&nbsp; Larry and Bev lived and traveled abroad until they settled on their dream property in the Lindsborg countryside in 2000.&nbsp; Their son Nick was born 1970 on the night of the McPherson Rodeo, and Todd was born on a snowy night at 2 a.m. on New Year’s morning 1979 at Hahn AB Germany.

Larry started flying as a teenager at the McPherson airport and continued his career as a Fighter Pilot in the U.S. Air Force, Kansas Air National Guard, and then American Airlines until his final retirement at age 58.&nbsp; His flying career included combat missions in Southeast Asia and graduation from the Air Force’s prestigious F-4 Fighter Weapons School at Nellis AFB, NV.&nbsp; He also served as instructor and director of operations for the F-4 Weapons School in Kansas and later as the Kansas Guard’s first F-16 squadron commander.&nbsp; Larry and Bev’s journey took them to Oklahoma, Florida, Arizona, Thailand, North Carolina, Germany and finally back to Kansas in 1980.&nbsp; They made life-long friends from around the world.

When Larry wasn’t flying, he was traveling the world with Bev and their closest friends. Mostly he was off on one of his wild adventures chasing a fish or a bird or an elk and looking for one of his infamous “shortcuts”.&nbsp; He was an avid outdoorsman that not only hunted and fished but ardently supported conservation organizations that worked to preserve wildlife habitat for future generations.&nbsp; By far his favorite outdoor pursuit was upland quail hunting the Kansas prairies with his buddies, sons, grandsons, and his beloved German short-haired pointers.&nbsp; His favorite place to hunt was the Smoky Hill Bombing Range near Salina, KS where he asked his family to spread his ashes.&nbsp; After retirement, he became a regular golfer at the McPherson Country Club and served as chairman of their board.&nbsp; He also served in many other volunteer positions including At-Risk classroom at Lindsborg H.S.; New Gottland township treasurer; and McPherson airport board.

Most of all, Larry will be remembered for his quick wit, humor, and endless supply of jokes.&nbsp; Stated simply, Larry just made people laugh and was truly the life of any party.&nbsp; Walking into a bar or room you just needed to find where the crowd was to find Larry.&nbsp; In the center of the crowd, you would see his shit-eating grin and watch him hold court telling stories and jokes with great animation and a very attentive audience.&nbsp;

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Beverly; sons, Todd (Keri) Kavouras of Gypsum, KS and Nick (Michelle) Kavouras of Panama City, FL; brothers, Dan (Lou) Kavouras of Brooksville, FL and Steve (Theresa) Kavouras of Prior Lake, MN; a sister, Patsy Kavouras (John Bruce) of Nederland, CO; four grandchildren, Coleson Kavouras, Jared Kavouras, Nolan Kavouras, and Katie Kavouras. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the McPherson Opera House with a reception following at the Kavouras’ home at 1755 Rainbow Road, Lindsborg, KS 67456.

Joan Marie Tolar, 81, of Hutchinson, died March 25, 2024, at Hospice House. She was born January 11, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Eldon E. and Leona M. (Newlin) Fast.

Joan graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961, where she was active in many musicals and Student Council, and from Hutchinson Community College in 1963. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and worked as an administrative assistant at the church for over 25 years, retiring in 2009. Joan also directed children’s choirs for more than 20 years and took the leadership for 10 Mother’s Day musicals and several children’s Christmas programs. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Anna Circle, numerous church committees, Women of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and served as a Stephen Minister. Joan also had been a member of YWCA in Nigeria, Sweet Adelines, and PEO Chapter CM.

On July 7, 1963, she married Robert H. “Bob” Tolar, in Hutchinson. They shared over 60 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: their sons, Dwight &amp; Mary Tolar of Manhattan, Donald Tolar of Hutchinson; grandsons, Alex Tolar of Manhattan, Drew Tolar and Reece Tolar of Cheney; and many extended family members.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce &amp; Ted Hesse, Jean &amp; Bob May; and brother-in-law, Byron Tolar and his wife Julia.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will take place at a later date in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Joseph M. Walter Jr. passed away March 25, 2024 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro. 

 He was born January 21, 1927 in Carpenter, South Dakota to Joseph M. Walter Sr. and Susie Hoefer Walter.  He married Janette Rose Bergen in Goltry, Oklahoma. 

 Survivors include: wife, Janette Walter of Hillsboro; sons, Roland Walter of Malaga, Spain, Joseph Walter III of Farmington, New Mexico; daughters, Patty (Don) DenHartog of McPherson, Debbie (Jim) Shoberg of Wheaton, Illinois; sisters Lavonne Walter, Naomi Rempe; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christy Currie.

Joseph M. Walter Jr. |1927-2024|

Alfred L. 'Al' Blocher, 93, passed away on March 16, 2024 in Newton, Kansas. He was born July 4, 1930 in Alexander, Kansas to Fred and Hannah (Wittig) Blocher. After graduating from Alexander High School, he served 2 years during the Korean War in the Army stationed in Japan. When his service was complete, he returned to the states and traveled to Colorado to attend telegraphy training where he met the love of his life, Floris Davis. They were married in 1954. They welcomed two sons and a daughter to this union. After joining the Missouri Pacific Railroad, he was stationed in several different locations across the US before settling in the Wichita area. He retired in 1991 after more than 30 years.

Al was an avid outdoor guy, enjoying fishing and hunting. As his children grew up and discovered the joy of cars, racing began to take a front row seat in his life. He could be found in the stands at 81 Speedway and the Hutchinson State Fair grandstands cheering on his favorite drivers. Sunday afternoons he could be found watching NASCAR on the tv. In his retirement years, he found real purpose in volunteering for the Red Cross, driving around the state for more than 15 years and logging a innumerable number of miles. He was proud to go on an Honor Flight escorted by his daughter, Lynette, who is also a veteran. He was a proud Mason and member of Eastern Star. He served the Grand Chapter in various roles throughout the years while also serving as Worthy Patron at least six times in his local chapters. He was currently serving Valley Center at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cora Lee Filbert and Joann Ebert and brother, Gary Blocher.

Al is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Floris, sons, Kenneth Blocher of Wichita, KS, David (Catherine) Blocher of Newton, KS, and daughter, Lynette (Scott) Lewis of O’Fallon, MO, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, sister, Beverly (Hank) Gabel of Montgomery, Al, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be held Friday, April 5 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Valley Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in his name to Valley Center OES and mailed to 2115 Sherwood Ave, Newton KS 67114 or Good Shepherd Hospice.

After graduating from Alexander High School, he served 2 years during the Korean War in the Army stationed in Japan. When his service was complete, he returned to the states and traveled to Colorado to attend telegraphy training where he met the love of his life, Floris Davis. They were married in 1954. They welcomed two sons and a daughter to this union. After joining the Missouri Pacific Railroad, he was stationed in several different locations across the US before settling in the Wichita area. He retired in 1991 after more than 30 years.Al was an avid outdoor guy, enjoying fishing and hunting. As his children grew up and discovered the joy of cars, racing began to take a front row seat in his life. He could be found in the stands at 81 Speedway and the Hutchinson State Fair grandstands cheering on his favorite drivers. Sunday afternoons he could be found watching NASCAR on the tv. In his retirement years, he found real purpose in volunteering for the Red Cross, driving around the state for more than 15 years and logging a innumerable number of miles. He was proud to go on an Honor Flight escorted by his daughter, Lynette, who is also a veteran. He was a proud Mason and member of Eastern Star. He served the Grand Chapter in various roles throughout the years while also serving as Worthy Patron at least six times in his local chapters. He was currently serving Valley Center at the time of his death.He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cora Lee Filbert and Joann Ebert and brother, Gary Blocher.Al is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Floris, sons, Kenneth Blocher of Wichita, KS, David (Catherine) Blocher of Newton, KS, and daughter, Lynette (Scott) Lewis of O’Fallon, MO, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, sister, Beverly (Hank) Gabel of Montgomery, Al, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Service will be held Friday, April 5 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Valley Center. Danny Joe Willard Sr., 74, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home in Pratt, Kansas. Danny was born December 27, 1949, in Pratt, KS, the son of Clarence and Lavenia (Patterson) Willard. On June 17, 2005, he married Rayetta Watts in Pratt, KS. They shared 20 years of marriage together.

Danny graduated from Pratt High School and received an associate degree from Pratt Community College. He worked for IBM in computer sales and later worked in maintenance at Friendship Manor. He enjoyed golfing, watching the KC Chiefs, and loved spending time with his family.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Clairene McHenry and Julia Mae Hembree.

Jacob Paul Imel, 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. &nbsp;Paul was born November 27, 1945, in Canyon Creek, Alberta Canada, the son of Jacob and Nora (Courtorielle) Imel. &nbsp;On May 28, 1965, he married Wynona J. Paul was a crane operator and mechanic. &nbsp;He enjoyed building and repairing cars, watching stock car races and the KC Chiefs. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino and spending time with his family.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wynona; and a great grandson, Benjamin Smith.

Survivors include his three daughters, Michelle Stoll, Angie Imel and Gina (Gary) Imel; two sisters, Marie Edna (Jerry) Nickel and Patty (Bob) Gullion; four grandchildren, Lacie Imel, Trevor Stoll, Arius Imel and Seryna Imel; and four great grandchildren, Kimberly, Gianna, Royce, Boston and one on the way.

Sumer Joan Foster, 47, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 at her home. She was born on September 25, 1976 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Johnnie and Joy (Shuyler) Moore. 

She graduated from Buhler High School and later graduated from Hutchinson Community College. 

Sumer previously worked for Sterling Services in Sterling. She always wanted to be a cancer registrar. 

Sumer was a fan of arts and crafts and animals. 

Sumer is survived by her two sons, Tim Foster (Megan Schroeder) of Hutchinson, and Samuel (Ellianna) Foster of Hutchinson; parents, Johnnie and Joy Moore of Buhler; and brothers, Steve Moore of Buhler and Shaun (Penny) Moore of Hutchinson. 

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. 

Cremation is planned. A private service will be held at a later date.

Robert D. “Bob” Crow, 94, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Pleasant View Home in Inman, KS.

Bob was born on July 9, 1929, in Centerville, Arkansas, the son of James Carlton and Thelma Madora (Vandiver) Crow.&nbsp; He graduated from Little Rock Tech High School in 1947.&nbsp; On September 13, 1950, he married JoAnn Hunt.&nbsp; She passed away on June 13, 1995.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.&nbsp; After getting out of the Navy in 1952, he went to work for Mobil Oil Company.&nbsp; In 1960, he started working for Mid America Pipeline Company as their Operations Superintendent.&nbsp; In 1975, he moved from McPherson, KS, to Tulsa, OK to start his own business, Storage Management and Consultants and Southwest Brine, Inc.

In 1995 after JoAnn passed, he moved to Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; He married Delores Winkley on January 17, 1998.&nbsp; She died on July 5, 2010.

He worked for Wheeled Coach delivering ambulances all across the United States.&nbsp; When they moved their operations to another state, he went to work for St. Francis Ministries.&nbsp; In 2020, he retired at the young age of 90.

Robert was a life member of V.F.W. Post #2715, McPherson, KS, where he served as Commander from 1974 to 1975.

He is survived by his children, Robert Jr. (Michelle) Crow, Jonette (Mike) Yost, and Keith (Joanne) Crow.&nbsp; He is also survived by his step-children, Kim, Kevin, Kristie, and Kenny.&nbsp; He has also been blessed by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, David, wives, JoAnn and Delores, and long-time companion, Dorothy Butler.

A private family gathering will be at a later date.

Lee Roy Martinez, 60, died March 23, 2024, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born March 9, 1964, to Francisco and Edith Marie (Rowillard) Martinez.

Lee enjoyed cooking, watching crime dramas, and helping people in need. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his son, they both enjoyed going bowling and fishing together.

On April 15, 2013, he married Elleri Jade Padilla, in Guymon, OK, they shared over 10 years of marriage.

Lee Roy is survived by: his son, Hayden Lee Francisco Martinez of Newkirk, OK; wife, Elleri Martinez of Newkirk, OK; sister, Linda Martinez of Guymon, OK; brothers, Frankie Martinez, Junior Martinez, and Johnny Martinez all of Nebraska.

Wayne is survived by his brothers, Robert Q Stout and Alan R Stout, sister Ann Harris, and nieces, Brandy Elliott and Daphney Rives.He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Florence.

Wayne was a proud Army Veteran and served for many years during the Vietnam War, as well as a medic in Germany. He loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to go fishing and camping. Wayne could always be thought of as an all around good guy.

Teresa graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. Teresa loved to play Texas Hold’em, playing bingo for many years at Friendly Bingo in Hutchinson and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Clarence; and her husband, George.

Teresa Mae Nachtigal |1950-2024|

Virginia J (Krehbiel) Kaufman, 100, passed away March 20, 2024, at The Cedars, McPherson, KS. The oldest in the family of 8, she was born in Elyria, KS on March 2, 1924, to Jonathan J and Bertha B (Waltner) Krehbiel. 

The family lived in Pretty Prairie where Virginia attended school. They moved to Conway when she was a 7th grader. As a freshman she lived with her grandparents in Pretty Prairie. She was back home the next year attending high school in Windom where she graduated in 1943. She attended Bethel College for one year and then worked in Elyria where she lived with her Uncle Chris Krehbiel. She later moved to McPherson where she and her sister Ruth rented a basement apartment. She worked at a Food Mart but lost her job due to her religious beliefs. 

She married Elmer L Kaufman on July 22, 1945, at the Eden Mennonite Church. Patricia Kay was born in 1946 and sadly passed 3 months later. Shortly thereafter Elmer was diagnosed with TB and spent time in Norton, KS, at the sanatorium. When he recovered, they returned to the Kaufman farm and eventually were blessed with 5 children, Pamela Sue, Cameron Brent, Steven Jay, Kevin Lee and Darin Todd. 

Virginia taught children’s Wednesday night classes and volunteered in the nursery at the Eden Church. As a member of the Centennial Missionary Society, she helped with quilting and bible quizzes. She was always busy, crocheting, needlepointing, knitting or hand quilting. She loved auctions and collected antiques which she enjoyed refinishing. Providing for family was very important to her which led to gardening and canning, putting up produce in the freezer, and raising chickens. She was a very good baker, making delicious pies, cinnamon rolls, pecan nut rolls and “mak kuchen”. Being an excellent seamstress, she made clothing for the whole family and was also known to make her own laundry soap. In her later years she enjoyed playing bridge. 

Virginia was a natural at sales, selling Amway, Avon, Saladmaster Cookware, Watkins, and Nature’s Sunshine. She found her niche when she opened The Rural Rooster in 1981 in the garage on the farm. It quickly grew and an additional room was added. In 1999 the Rural Rooster transitioned to Main Street McPherson. She worked hard and retired at age 88 after 31 years of operating a successful business.

Virginia was proud to achieve her birthday milestone on March 2, which was celebrated by many family members “visiting”, cake and her favorite poppyseed rolls. 

She is survived by her children, Pamela (George III) Gunter of Weatherby Lake, MO, Cameron (Lucinda) Kaufman of Buhler, Steven (Sheri) Kaufman of McPherson, Kevin (Julie) Kaufman of McPherson, and Darin (Cynthia) Kaufman of Overland Park, KS; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister JoAnn Funk of Newton, KS; and many nieces and nephews. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Patricia Kay, brothers, Homer and Myron Krehbiel, and sisters, Ruth Goering, Dorothy Davis, Marilyn Ollenburger, and Carolyn Norris. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2024 at Eden Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the committal service, a light lunch will be served in the fellowship room. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 4 at Moundridge Funeral Home. She was back home the next year attending high school in Windom where she graduated in 1943. She attended Bethel College for one year and then worked in Elyria where she lived with her Uncle Chris Krehbiel. She later moved to McPherson where she and her sister Ruth rented a basement apartment. She worked at a Food Mart but lost her job due to her religious beliefs. She married Elmer L Kaufman on July 22, 1945, at the Eden Mennonite Church. Patricia Kay was born in 1946 and sadly passed 3 months later. Shortly thereafter Elmer was diagnosed with TB and spent time in Norton, KS, at the sanatorium. When he recovered, they returned to the Kaufman farm and eventually were blessed with 5 children, Pamela Sue, Cameron Brent, Steven Jay, Kevin Lee and Darin Todd. Virginia taught children’s Wednesday night classes and volunteered in the nursery at the Eden Church. As a member of the Centennial Missionary Society, she helped with quilting and bible quizzes. She was always busy, crocheting, needlepointing, knitting or hand quilting. She loved auctions and collected antiques which she enjoyed refinishing. Providing for family was very important to her which led to gardening and canning, putting up produce in the freezer, and raising chickens. She was a very good baker, making delicious pies, cinnamon rolls, pecan nut rolls and “mak kuchen”. Being an excellent seamstress, she made clothing for the whole family and was also known to make her own laundry soap. In her later years she enjoyed playing bridge. Virginia was a natural at sales, selling Amway, Avon, Saladmaster Cookware, Watkins, and Nature’s Sunshine. She found her niche when she opened The Rural Rooster in 1981 in the garage on the farm. It quickly grew and an additional room was added. In 1999 the Rural Rooster transitioned to Main Street McPherson. She worked hard and retired at age 88 after 31 years of operating a successful business.Virginia was proud to achieve her birthday milestone on March 2, which was celebrated by many family members “visiting”, cake and her favorite poppyseed rolls. She is survived by her children, Pamela (George III) Gunter of Weatherby Lake, MO, Cameron (Lucinda) Kaufman of Buhler, Steven (Sheri) Kaufman of McPherson, Kevin (Julie) Kaufman of McPherson, and Darin (Cynthia) Kaufman of Overland Park, KS; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister JoAnn Funk of Newton, KS; and many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Patricia Kay, brothers, Homer and Myron Krehbiel, and sisters, Ruth Goering, Dorothy Davis, Marilyn Ollenburger, and Carolyn Norris. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2024 at Eden Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the committal service, a light lunch will be served in the fellowship room. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 4 at Moundridge Funeral Home. Sabra Jane Stevens, 83, passed away March 19, 2024 in McPherson. 

 She was born May 26, 1940 in Strong City, Kansas to Neil Peter and (Gene) Geraldine C. (Evans) McCallum.  She married Dewy Stevens September 27, 1958 in Oklahoma. 

 Survivors include: daughters, Karen (Don Jr.) Willits of McPherson, Cindy (Mark) Slater of Florence, Melissa (Norm) Richardson of Marion; brother, Dennis (Cheryl) McCallum of Belaire; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Tythan Douglas Miles age 42 departed his earthly home Friday March 15th, 2024, in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas. He was born to Ronald E. Miles and Grace (Hardy) Miles on April 20,1981. He graduated from Northwest Highschool in 1999.

Early in his adulthood Tythan’s business acumen was on display. In 2005 Tythan became one of the youngest members of the managerial staff in the history of Bank of America. It did not take long for Tythan’s gifts and talents to shine; shortly after being elevated to management, Tythan Miles was recognized by the Wichita Chamber of Commerce as one of Wichita’s most influential people under the age of forty. From there Tythan went on to become a career entrepreneur, founding his first business Core Cleaning and Janitorial Services. Never satisfied with the status quo, Tythan diversified his business and Core Industries became one of the top Electronic Monitoring and Geo Mapping companies in the city of Wichita.&nbsp;

Tythan’s Christian roots and upbringing shaped his life; culminating with him being named youth leader at his home church in 2012. Known for his generosity and dependability, Tythan was always willing to lend a hand. Tythan loved to spend his time enjoying food, family, and friends.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his mother Grace Miles and his brother Brandeis Miles. He is survived by his three children: Karson, Kennedy, and Gracelyn Miles; and a host of family and friends.&nbsp;

Margaret I. “Margie” (Haines) Beltz Denton, 97, of Hutchinson, died March 16, 2024, at her home. She was born May 24, 1926, in Hutchinson, to Clarence H. and Letta Juanita (Collins) Haines.

Margie graduated from Haven High School, Hutchinson Community College, and Kansas State University and attended one year of McPherson College. She was a farmer’s wife and a kindergarten teacher. Margie enjoyed Kansas State athletics, including football, basketball, and Kansas City Royals baseball. She loved to travel. Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Margie married and had two children with Quinlin Beltz. He died on November 27, 1991. Later, on June 16, 1996, she married Leland G. Denton in Hutchinson. She moved to Topeka where he was residing and shared over 16 wonderful years of marriage before his death on November 15, 2012.

Margie is survived by: daughters, Vickie Rucker of Hutchinson and Debbie (Larry) Wilson of Topeka, KS; son, Randy (Carole) Denton of Topeka; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and son, Dwight Beltz.

Private family service took place March 22, 2024, at Elliott Chapel. &nbsp;Private burial followed in Laurel Cemetery, rural Haven.

Norma J. Pierce, age 95, passed away March 19, 2024, at the Rose House in Branson, Missouri. She was born on September 23, 1928, in Garden City, Kansas, to John and Iona Boyd. On November 26, 1944, Norma married Homer S. Pierce, of Garden City, Kansas. Homer passed away on December 28, 2012.

As well as being a housewife and mother, for many years she helped her husband with farming. Norma and her husband liked to travel, including trips to Canada and Europe. She was also an avid fan of Kansas University, Kansas State basketball, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football team. Most of all, Norma loved her family and kept track of each and everyone and what was taking place in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Pierce; parents: John and Iona Boyd; two brothers; and a grandson.

Norma is survived by her sister, Lois Ramsey of Garden City, Kansas; four children: Nancy Courtney and her husband, John of Springfield, Missouri, Larry Pierce and his wife Shawanna of Hollister, Missouri, Rodney Pierce of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tim Pierce and his wife Connie of Crescent City, California; six grandchildren: Shane (Mary) Pierce, Christine (Darren) Smith, Tucker (Chandra) Pierce, Dylan (Janet) Pierce, Buck (Lori) Pierce, and Flynt (Jaclyn) Pierce; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Jeanie Kay Kirby, 74, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, surrounded by her family at the Hospice House, Hutchinson.

She was born on February 4, 1950, in Kinsley, KS, the daughter of Clay Edward and Bessie M. (Berry) Korte.&nbsp; Her mother passed away during childbirth, so, she was raised by her father and step-mother, Clay &amp; Emma Irene Korte.&nbsp; Jeanie graduated from McPherson High School in 1968 and continued her education at cosmetology school.&nbsp; On June 28, 1969, Jeanie was united in marriage to Larry James Kirby at the McPherson Church of the Nazarene.&nbsp; Jeanie and Larry met at the skating rink in McPherson. This union was blessed with two sons, Chris and Corey.

Jeanie most recently worked as a desk attendant at the McPherson Senior Center.&nbsp; Prior to the McPherson Senior Center, she was a paraprofessional for U.S.D. 418, a job where she thoroughly enjoyed working with the students.&nbsp; She was also a sales clerk at Poor John’s Appliance.

She has been a longtime member of McPherson Free Methodist Church and the Sweet Adelines International. Jeanie loved her family and enjoyed celebrating each and every holiday. From attending her boys’ events to teaching them how to cook, she loved being their mom.&nbsp; Among her hobbies, she often was found crocheting, quilting, and sewing blankets and purses.&nbsp; She enjoyed watching her favorite soap opera, Days of Our Lives.&nbsp; She had a wonderful relationship with her parents and was considered a “daddy’s girl.” She often reminisced of times camping at Kanopolis Lake. Jeanie loved everyone and developed friendships with people of all ages.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Larry of the home; two sons, Chris Kirby and Corey Kirby, both of El Paso, AR; a grandson, Dylan Zahn (Kim) of Hutchinson, KS; a brother, Gary Korte of Haviland, KS; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clay &amp; Bessie Korte, and step-mother, Emma Korte.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Diane Elaine Marshall, 61, died Friday (December 22, 2023) at her home in Hutchinson, Kansas surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 24, 1962 in Wellington, Kansas, the daughter of David Lee and Maud Elaine Lindall Sieg. The family moved to Hutchinson where she was raised and graduated from high school.

Diane married Dean Franklin Marshall in Hutchinson, in 1981. They had one son, Daniel, with both Dean and Daniel surviving at the home.

For several years she was a Customer Service Representative for Cox Communications in Hutchinson and most recently had been managing the automobile fleet for St. Francis Ministries.

Diane loved working in her flower garden.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Kevin Lee Sieg and Dennis Sieg.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 6th at the Rice Park Community Building, 44 Swarens Street, Hutchinson, Ks., with a light lunch to follow.

Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;

The family moved to Hutchinson where she was raised and graduated from high school.Diane married Dean Franklin Marshall in Hutchinson, in 1981. Sandra Kay Rehburg, 68, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born September 12, 1955, in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of Clifford L. and Pearl J. (Harlow) Binning.

In 1982, Sandra met Virgil Newman in Mildord, UT. &nbsp;They spent 41 years together. &nbsp;Sandra enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, especially ones that were more than 1,000 pieces, bingo, playing card games and was great at blackjack. &nbsp;She also enjoyed singing and art and was a fantastic artist. &nbsp;She had two cats that she loved.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Michael Binning.

She is survived by her son, Austin Newman; ex-partner, Virgil Newman; sisters, Sharon Coose, Janet Beckham and Deana Brunk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. &nbsp;A private family Celebration of Life will be held later date. &nbsp;To help the family with funeral expenses, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made payable to Austin Newman or Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. &nbsp;They can be sent to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.

Dennis Pierson, 70, died March 19, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. &nbsp;He was born May 28, 1953, in Toledo, OH, to Clyde A. Pierson and Maurine H. (Buggeln) Pierson.

Dennis was a 1971 graduate of Hutchinson High School. &nbsp;He served in the Kansas Army National Guard. Dennis was a motorcycle mechanic at Al’s Honda Yamaha. &nbsp;He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson, KS.

Dennis was a motorcycle mechanic at Al’s Honda Yamaha. &nbsp;He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson, KS.Dennis enjoyed fishing, camping at Cheney Lake and Kanopolis Lake with the family, vegetable gardening, and riding his motorcycle. &nbsp;He and his wife were members of a community motorcycle group that loved going on rides and eating out. &nbsp;Dennis volunteered at the Hutchinson Police Department and was a model train buff. &nbsp;He was known as the ’30th Avenue Waver’ because he sat out on his driveway waving at people since July 2018. &nbsp;Dennis was given a counter, the first of many which he wore out, to count the number of persons who would honk. &nbsp;He finally reached and surpassed his goal of one million honks. &nbsp;Dennis had a collection of ball caps with many printed sayings which epitomized his wonderful outlook on life and the acceptance of what life had dealt him. &nbsp;Sayings, such as, “Defeeted but not defeated” and “Stop pulling my legs, seriously, they come off” were two of his favorites.On May 27, 1972, he married Edith ‘Edie’ Mary Obermite, at Eastwood Church of Christ. &nbsp;They shared over 51 years of marriage.Dennis is survived by: &nbsp;his wife, Edith ‘Edie’ Pierson of Hutchinson, KS; sister, Trudy (Eric) Andersen of Jameston, KS; sister-in-law, Bonnie Pierson of Hutchinson, KS; sister, Penny (Brad) Wilt of Manhattan, KS; brothers-in-law, Brian Webb of Caselton, KS, Heinz Obermite of Hollywood, CA, Bob (Shannon) Obermite of Hutchinson, KS, and Rick (Mary) Obermite of Clarksville, TN; best friend and fishing buddy, Cy (Janet) Carlile of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; brother, Bill Pierson; sister, Peggy Webb; brother-in-law, Al Stucky; and parents-in-law, Carl and Frieda Obermite.Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N.
