Mary A. Dove, 74, died July 12, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village. She was born on September 5, 1950, in Rock Rapids, IA, to Palmer and Eula A. (Shropshire) Jerde.
Mary graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. She worked as a florist for over 40 years and enjoyed making beautiful arrangements for the community. Mary taught Vacation Bible School for many years at First Christian Church, Burrton, and taught classes at craft camp in Salina. Her family was always excited to learn new crafts with her. Some of her other talents included cooking and baking with a few favorites being her peanut butter cake, fudge, potato salad, “mouse” burgers and her grandma’s sugar cookies.
Mary loved going to flea markets, garage sales, the Kansas State Fair, pumpkin patches, and traveling. A couple of her favorite trips were to Minnesota, Maine, and to visit Graceland in Tennessee. A huge Elvis fan, she collected records, glassware, clothing and anything Elvis!
She also cherished time spent with family and the skating rink, water parks, area lakes and watching movies. Mary was sweet and well loved by everyone who met her. Many family members knew they were her “favorite”! An avid pet lover, she rescued many pets, including her last two, Buddy and Wynston.
