
Jay L. Moore, 84, of Hutchinson, died July 21, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1941, in Hutchinson, to Howard and Viola (Woods-Baker) Moore.
Jay was a life-long pharmacist in Hutchinson. He worked for Self Service Drugs and Scaggs, but was better known as the local pharmacist at Osco Drug. Jay was involved in the Reno County Genealogical Society. He enjoyed reading books about American History and Presidential History. Jay was an avid consumer of knowledge and enjoyed historical content.
On June 10, 1967, he married his sweetheart, Lenora “Jeannie” Shultz, in Newton, Kansas. They shared nearly 45 years of marriage before her death on May 27, 2013. They were active members of St. Teresa’s and then Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Jay is survived by: sons, Sean (Michele) Moore, Carbondale, KS, and Mark (Nikki) Moore, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, beloved wife, Jeannie Moore; sister, Vicki Moore; and brothers, Wesley Moore, and Curtis Moore.
Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd., Hutchinson, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Newton. Family to receive friends at 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on July 26, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary until the day of the service.
