Berneta Lynn Jung, 69, died December 24, 2019, at her home in Inman.&nbsp; She was born November 21, 1950, in St. John, to Floyd Pershing and Laurel (Martin) Jung.&nbsp;

Berneta graduated from Lyons High School with the Class of 1968, and was a contestant in the Miss Rice County Pageant in 1968.&nbsp; She was an accomplished pianist, and taught countless youth piano lessons.&nbsp; Berneta retired as a United States Postal Carrier for Inman.&nbsp; She was a longtime Inman area resident, and attended Union Valley Bible Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Berneta is survived by:&nbsp; daughter, Lacy Stucky and husband Jeremy of Forsyth, MO; grandchildren, Bethany and Cody Stucky of Forsyth, MO; brother, Stephen Jung and wife Becky of Nampa, ID; sister, Paula Reazin of Denver, CO; and brother-in-law, Glenn Colberg of Lyons.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; children, Clinton Swafford and Lindsey Swafford; and sister, Sharon Colberg.

Alma Jean Duncan, 89, passed away on December 27, 2019, at Presbyterian Manor, Wichita, KS. She was born February 26, 1930, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of George and Alma Olive (Anderson) Herald.

Alma graduated from Grant High School and attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. On August 28, 1951 she married Robert C. Duncan in Portland, OR. Alma was a Special Education Para Professional for USD 501 and USD 265. She was a member of PEO, Music Club of Wichita, Wichita Grand Opera, and Wichita Symphony Choir. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church USA.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Robert; daughters, Margaret D. (James) Carte, Catherine A. (Edward) Sandate and Janis D. (Steven) Smith and six grandchildren, Allison Sandate (John) Emerson, DeVeaux Carte, Thomas Sandate, Gregory Sandate, Ian Smith and Nigel Smith.

John Nitzsche, 59, of Hutchinson, died December 26, 2019, at his home. He was born May 8, 1960, in Pratt, to Denny and Sharon (Amerine) Nitzsche.

John graduated from Fairfield High School in 1978. He was a production technician at Jackson Dairy.

John was a devoted father and grandfather and loved to spend time with his family. He had a very special relationship with his grandsons, with Aiden being his “partner in crime”. John was a lifelong athlete. He played basketball, football, and baseball in high school and softball throughout his adult life. John never knew an enemy. He could make friends with anyone and always had a smile.

John is survived by: daughter, Chelsea Penner (Ryan, and grandsons, Aiden and Caleb Penner, all of Hutchinson; grandson, Levi Tatro, Attica; sister, Diana Skomal (Tim, Langdon; aunt, Vicki Wells, Dodge City; uncle, Bill Amerine, Kingman; niece, Meghan Smith (Quanah, Oklahoma; niece, Morgan Cook (Trey, Iowa; and&nbsp; nephew, Tyler Skomal, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Ashley Nitzsche.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating . Betty Jane Shelton, 65, died Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 2, 1954, in Kingman, KS, to Alois Joseph and Emma Beatrice (Kathman) Adelhardt.

She was a 1972 graduate of Zenda High School and graduated from dental school two years later. Betty had been a dental hygienist for Dr. Briscoe.

On December 31, 1977, she married Richard Edward Shelton in Hutchinson. Her husband, Richard, of almost 42 years, survives. Also surviving are: son, Nathan and wife Nola; grandchildren, Gage, Taylor, Jessica, Grace, Corbin and Luke; stepdaughters, Jill Kelley and husband Russ, and their children, Max and Grant, and Petra Sille, all of Hutchinson; brothers, Steve Adelhardt of Harper and Bob Adelhardt of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Duane Adelhardt.

Lee Otis Daines, 76, died December 25, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 14, 1943, in Canon City, CO, the son of John O. and Beatrice E. (Epperson) Daines.

Lee worked for many years for Perry Lumber in South Hutchison.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing and camping and model trains.&nbsp; Lee was of the Christian faith.

On October 3, 1969, he married Carolyn S. Harper in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, John Daines (Regina, Melissa Weible (Cecil, all of Hutchinson, Angela Daines, Daniel Daines, both of Pawnee Rock; six grandchildren; sister, Ann DeWater (Bud, South Hutchinson; and many other family members and friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Helen Ingrace Anzo Alonzo, 95, of Hutchinson, died December 24, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born August 16, 1924, in Pierceville, KS, the daughter of Rafael Meza and Concepcion (Alatorre) Anzo.&nbsp;

Helen was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church for over 50 years and was involved in Altar Society and other various religious groups.&nbsp; Helen’s most important role in life was taking care of her family and helping others.&nbsp; She raised four children, teaching them the values of life.&nbsp; Helen was a faithful Catholic, sharing her faith with her children and grandchildren, who adored her.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Fred Alonzo, Sr.; her parents; six brothers, Andy, Ralph, Joseph, Phillip, Jessie and Tony Anzo; and three sisters, Ruth Anzo Ramirez, Wanda Anzo Strouse and Alice Anzo Trujillo.&nbsp;

Helen is survived by: three sons, Fred Jr. (Patricia, Greg (Linda, B.J. Alonzo; and one daughter, Patty Higgins (Jack, all of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Augustine Anzo of Fountain Valley, California; and sister, Raphaela Anzo Garcia of Hutchinson.

Dianne worked in the Chinese Kitchen at Dillon on 30th&nbsp;Avenue for 18 years. She was a genuine people lover. Dianne was a member of Hope Church, Hutchinson.

She is survived by: son, Mitchell Fuqua (Amy) of Wichita; grandchildren, Robert, Megan, and Noah Fuqua; great-grandson, Sebastian Fuqua; and a host of other family and friends.

Rubye Dee Franklin Clayton, 101, died December 23, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village.&nbsp; She was born May 18, 1918, in rural Benton, KY, the daughter of Fred M. and Nonnie M. (Riley) Franklin.&nbsp; Rubye graduated from Benton High School in 1936 and from Asbury College, Wilmore, KY, in 1943.

On June 20, 1943, she married Sanders B. Clayton in Benton, KY.&nbsp; They shared 61 years of marriage before his death on July 11, 2004.

Sanders served for 60 years as a United Methodist Pastor and Rubye assisted him in his ministry and served as church secretary at times, in addition to being a homemaker. She was active in United Methodist Women and loved singing in the church choir and performing solos. Rubye loved reading and Bible study. She had a passion for teaching and led Bible studies into her 90s. Rubye was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

She is survived by: sons, Max Clayton (Kathy, Wichita, Brent Clayton (Diane, Topeka; grandchildren, Holly Rook (Eric, Katrina Clayton, Heidi Sizemore (Michael, April Ballard (Steven, Ashley Fruechting (Austin, Scott Clayton (Megan); great-grandchildren, Christopher and Collin Rook, Landon Sizemore, Sam and Ellie Ballard, Levi and Jude Clayton; sister, Alice Jones, San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rubye was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; children, Stanley Clayton and Joy Walsh; and 6 siblings, including brother, Ardelle, who was killed in action in WWII.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Caldwell Cemetery, Caldwell. Memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 820 E. 30th&nbsp;Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry Brock officiating. Herbert ‘Herb’ Soukup, 83, of Hutchinson, died December 22, 2019, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born October 25, 1936, in Ellsworth, KS, to Joseph and Dessie (Grubb) Soukup.

Herb was a 1955 graduate of St. John’s Military School, Salina, KS, where in 1995, he received a Distinguished Graduate distinction. He received a BS in education from College of Emporia in 1959, and an MS in education from Emporia State University in 1964. It was in Emporia that Herb met his wife, Shanna (Blees) Soukup. They were married January 24, 1959, in Lyle, KS. After beginning their lives in Hudson, KS, Herb and Shanna settled in Hutchinson in 1966. They were united in marriage for over 60 years.

From 1959-1966, Herb was an educator at Hudson High School, Hudson, KS. Herb taught business and typing at Hutchinson High School from 1966-1974. He joined the USD 308 business office in 1974, and later became director of purchasing and data processing, retiring in 1998. While with USD 308, Herb also served as a driver’s education instructor and football coach at Liberty Jr. High and Hutchinson YMCA.

In retirement, Herb continued to serve the Hutchinson community by volunteering with the Reno County Food Bank, Reno County Sheriff Senior Patrol, Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and as a board member for the Reno County Food Bank, Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Hutchinson Community College, and Faith in Action of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Herb was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his wife, Shanna. He is survived by: daughters, Pam Kirk of Lawrence, and Jonelle Barrett of McKinney, TX; son, Monte (Molly) Soukup of Lawrence: and grandchildren, Benjamin and Paige Soukup, and Rachel Barrett.

Craig Bruce Shive, 64, died December 20, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born February 25, 1955, in Newton, the son of Ernest E. and Betty R. (Bomhoff) Shive. Craig graduated from Burrton High School in 1973 and attended Sterling College on a football scholarship.

He was co-owner of Triple S Tank Services for 40 years and then went to work as a contract laborer for Ressler Well Service in 2014. Craig had an intense love for his family and was an avid fisherman, active member of Hutchinson Watersports Club, and member of Haven Congregational Church.

On August 31, 1974, he married Kay Ann Kollath in Mount Hope. They shared 45 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Kevin Shive (Kylie, Kingman, Kyle Shive, Mount Hope, Cassandra Shive, Haven, Katie Cooprider (Casey, Haven, Carissa Comer (Adam, Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren; brother, Delbert Shive (Sue, Burrton; sister-in-law, Brenda Shive, Mount Hope; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jerry and Jim.

Lonnie E. Saylor, Sr., 86, of Hutchinson, was reunited with his loving wife and numerous loved ones, Monday, December 16, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 30, 1933, in Wallins Creek, KY, to James Newberry and Dora Jane (Osborne) Saylor.

He retired after 25 years of active duty in the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Lonnie then established his own business, Saylor’s Insurance Adjusting Service, and worked another 25 years.

He married Cletta B. Saylor May 7, 1954, in Wallins Creek, KY. His wife of nearly 57 years died January 22, 2011.

Lonnie is survived by: children, Jewel Saylor (Vern Carder) of Pretty Prairie, Lonnie Jr. (Sharon) of Greeley, CO, Dottie Saylor of Oklahoma City, OK, and Christie Kipp of Valley Center; sister, Lois Sue Asher of Corydon, IN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.Lonnie’s children wish to extend a special heartfelt, ‘Thank you’ to caregiver and family friend, Cassie Bofink.

Becky graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1985. She worked as an administrative assistant for Kroger and was a homemaker. Becky loved spending time with her family, friends, and furry companions.

On September 9, 1999, she married Dale Corley in Hutchinson. They shared 20 years of marriage together.

Becky is survived by: husband, Dale Corley, Hutchinson; sons, Mikeal Starnes (Hollie) and Kyle Stewart (Chelcee, both of South Hutchinson; grandchildren, Mckinzie Starnes, Kohen Starnes, and Gauge Stewart, all of South Hutchinson; stepfather, Everett Graber, Hutchinson; and sister, Wendy Stude, Nickerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Elmo A. Lane, 78, of Hutchinson, died December 12, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born January 28, 1941, in Hasty, Arkansas, to Alvie and Violet (Dean) Lane.

Elmo was a master plumber for 57 years and owned his own company for 25 years. He was involved with local and regional auto racing, spent many years as a youth sports coach, and loved spending time on the golf course.

On May 19, 1962, Elmo married Nancy Poulton, in St. John. They shared 57 years of marriage together.

He is survived by:&nbsp; wife, Nancy Lane, Hutchinson; daughter, Penny Stoss (Steve); son, Daniel Lane (Miriam); daughter, Patricia Ayala (Jim, all of Hutchinson; son, Timothy Lane, Kansas City; grandchildren, James Ian and Chanelle Ayala, Logan and Katelyn Stoss, Jami Lane, and Miya Lane; great grandchildren, Laylianah Ayala, Konner Adams, Lucy Stoss, Ayden Pope, and Hailey Ayala Helis; sister, Lori Tyson, Hutchinson.

Wanda O. Walsh, 83, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 in Hutchinson KS.

Wanda was born January 1, 1936 in Gassville, AR, the daughter of Ray Lavon and Zona Gail (Stahlman) Pruitt. On September 1, 1957 she married John “Richard” Borton at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. Richard passed away November 5, 1970. On July 13, 1974 Wanda married Patrick A. Walsh from Des Moines, IA.

Wanda attended a one room school at Webster Country School through the 5th grade. She attended Geneseo School from 6th grade through 12th grade graduating in 1954. She then went on to Mercy School of Nursing graduating in 1957. Years later, she attended Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University for two and half years working toward a degree in Art History.

She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, belonged to Women’s Civic Center, Society of Decorative Painters, Order of the Eastern Star Silver Leaf Chapter 464, Daughters of the Nile, Zohar Temple #55. She taught three-year-old children at Trinity UMC for several years. She Owned and operated Borton Ceramics from 1965 to 1974. Wanda volunteered for American Red Cross Reno County and Midwest, Salvation Army, served on the board of American Red Cross and Emergency Food and Shelter board for 24 years. She was Midwest American Red Cross trained in family service, disaster, and as a volunteer consultant for the southwest corner of Kansas. Co-chairman of two regional Red Cross conventions. She worked Hurricane Allen, Wichita flooding and Hesston tornado. Wanda was also a foster parent for six years. She was awarded the Piper Award for the volunteer of the year.

Wanda enjoyed traveling with her family, in 1979 she traveled to 23 countries for two months by EURO Rail. She also traveled to Canada, Mexico, England and South Korea. She also chaperoned with Jobs Daughters to National Conventions. Wanda’s true passion was all kinds of arts &amp; crafts, her favorites being painting, ceramics, quilting, knitting, embroidery and genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, brother Donald Pruitt, sisters-in-law, Bonnie, Della and Lois Pruitt.

She is survived by her six children, Jeffery (Daisy) Borton of Hutchinson, Elizabeth (Johnathan) Moorhead of Georgetown, TX, Douglas (Lori) Borton of Hutchinson, Mary (Richard) Buller of Hutchinson, Heather Walsh of Hutchinson, Jennifer (Todd) Barnett of Salina; two brothers, Melvin and Wayne Pruitt; a sister, Virginia (Charles) Lamb; fourteen grandchildren, Latonia Burnett, Adam Borton, Christopher Moorhead, Sean Moorhead, Ana Moorhead, Courtney (Chris) Jensen, John Borton, Ada Buller, Noah Buller, Aaron Buller, Mason Buller, Emma Buller, Nick Barringer, Jena (Nik Safos) Cornell; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way, Meagan (Alex) Martinez, Timothy Hougham, Miller Hougham, Timber Baker, Hadley Jensen, Jackson Radford, Benjamin Safos, Angela Safos; three great-great grandchildren, Sophia Martinez, Giovanni Martinez, Mason Hougham.

Gary Lee Hughes, 72, died December 14, 2019, at his home.&nbsp; He was born May 16, 1947, in Arkansas City, to James Ivan and Virginia (Sparks) Hughes.&nbsp;

Gary graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1965 and Kansas State University in 1973, where he completed both his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education and History. He student taught at Fort Riley Military Base and thoroughly enjoyed it.&nbsp; Gary then moved to Hutchinson, where he taught for 34 years at Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; He enjoyed teaching United States History, American Government, European History, and Russian History.&nbsp;

From 1979, until his retirement from Hutchinson High School, he served as the Social Studies Department Chair.&nbsp; In addition, he started teaching part-time in 1982, at Hutchinson Community College where he taught Russian History, Contemporary History, United States History, and American Government.&nbsp; &nbsp;He strived to make learning American History interesting and exciting, whether it was with posters, videos, special speakers, field trips, or dressing the part of those who made an impact on American History.&nbsp; As part of the student’s learning process, Gary organized trips with students from South-Central Kansas to Russia in 1996 and to the Soviet Union in 1988, in hopes he would expand their interest in American History through real-life avenues, rather than text books.&nbsp;

Gary was nominated, awarded, and honored as an outstanding teacher numerous times, and was awarded Educator of the Year in 1989, by his peers.&nbsp; He showed his commitment to the community through various programs and committees he helped to organize, including presentations from his field trips to Russia and the Soviet Union.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In addition to his teaching duties, Gary was involved in numerous boards, including the Historical Landmarks Preservation Commission, Human Relations Commission, and the Hutchinson Symphony Board.&nbsp; Currently, Gary served on the board of directors for the Arts and Humanities Council, Reno County Historical Society, Underground Salt Museum, and Mental Health Association for Reno County.&nbsp; He was selected as the Outstanding Community Leader by the local Altrusa International Club in 2007 and the Daughters of the American Revolution (Kansas Society) Teacher of the Year. In 2015, Gary also was the committee chair for KARSP (Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel).

With Gary’s historical knowledge, he was asked to serve as a consultant for the Reno County Museum for their World War II display and as a panelist for the Art and Humanities Workshop on World War II internment. Recently, he had helped organize and initiate the Boys State selection process for Hutchinson High School.&nbsp;

Once Gary was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, he, along with his wife, Peggy, started the local Parkinson Support Group as a way for others to support each other with the illness.

While at Kansas State University, Gary met the love of his life, Peggy Summers.&nbsp; They were married March 28, 1970, in Topeka.

Gary is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of almost 50 years, Peggy A. Summers Hughes; son, Geoffrey S. Hughes of The Colony, Texas; and beloved dog, Winston.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. LeRoy Charles Thornburg, 86, of Hutchinson, passed away December 14, 2019. He was born August 9, 1933, in Bloomington, the son of Lyal F. and Mary E. (Wilkenson) Thornburg.

LeRoy graduated from Osborne High School in 1951 and from Fort Hays State University in 1955. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. LeRoy taught high school math and science for eight years in Canton, Stockton, and Minneapolis before becoming a chemist for Northern Gas Products/Enron for 28 years.

LeRoy enjoyed yardwork and growing flowers, but most of all he loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.

On April 26, 1958, LeRoy married Helen V. Brown in Atlanta, Georgia. They shared 61 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Cheryl Sifuentez (Dario, Newton, Craig Thornburg (Lisa, Rossville, Jeff Thornburg (Linda, Hutchinson; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; brother, Dick Thornburg (Dee, Broken Arrow,Oklahoma; sisters, Shirley Swander, Salina, Donna Crawford (Dan, Mannford, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marjorie Lucile Westfahl, 97, passed away on December 12, 2019, at Asbury Park, Newton, KS. She was born November 2, 1922, in northeast Pratt County, KS, the daughter of Ray Paul and Alice (Roush) Crosley. 

Marjorie graduated from Pratt High School in 1942. On October 4, 1942 she married William A. Westfahl at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Natrona, KS.

Marjorie worked as a nurse aide in Castle Rock, CO., a bus driver for Fairfield USD 310, and at Cessna Fluid Power Div. She was a Life Member VFW Auxiliary and volunteered at Friendship Meals in Turon, Hutchinson Area Cancer Support Group and Victory in The Valley. Marjorie is a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and had been attending First Presbyterian Church in Newton the past four years.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, husband William A. Westfahl on June 8, 1997, sister Evonna Oller and half-brother Bernard Crosley.

Survivors include her children, Rojean (Paul) DuBois of Newton, Marjean (Maynard) Werner of Denver, CO, Duane (Linda) Westfahl of Stafford, William R. Betty Lou Wyer, 83, of Nickerson, died December 14, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born July 27, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Clarence and Questa (Smith) Miller.

Betty graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954. She worked for Central Press, Nickerson State Bank, and the Hutchinson Clinic as a receptionist and office worker. Betty loved reading and sewing and was involved with Mid State Street Rods.

On May 22, 1954, she married Elvin ‘Pee Wee’ Wyer, in Hutchinson. They shared 65 years of marriage together.

Betty is survived by: husband, Elvin ‘Pee Wee’ Wyer, Nickerson; daughters, Kathy Knox, Wichita, Gay Norquist (Bret, Wisconsin, and Molly Taggart (Brandon, Nickerson; granddaughters, Camey Beasley, Nickerson, Julie, Lindsey, and Lacey; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Pat Hopengardner, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jim Hopengardner.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Richard L. ‘Dick’ Cooper, 81, died December 13, 2019, at Legend of Hutchinson. He was born February 20, 1938, in Kansas City, MO, to Marvin ‘Bub’ and Hester (Van Hook) Cooper.

Dick graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1955 and Emporia State University, where he was a member of the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army from January 1961 to December 1962.&nbsp; Dick, or ‘Coop’ as he was known by many, was President of Cooper Tire Service after becoming the sole owner in 1986.&nbsp; Today, he owns Cooper Tire Service, along with his son, Craig.&nbsp; Dick had a keen business sense, and still enjoyed helping out at the tire store every opportunity he could. &nbsp;

Dick was a founding member and former president of MATDA (<a href="https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=AwrEZ65JIvVdOR4AsBgPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTEycXY1bDdiBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDQjg0OTJfMQRzZWMDc3I-/RV=2/RE=1576374986/RO=10/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.matda.org%2fAbout%2fNews/RK=2/RS=uXd7SWQhZxBDNTOUo.vr9mGQTE0-">Mid-America Tire Dealers Association).&nbsp;</a>&nbsp;In addition, Dick served on several boards, including MATDA, the Hutchinson Town Club, Prairie Dunes Country Club, and was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68. &nbsp;In his spare time, Dick enjoyed playing solitaire, golfing, cards, reading, and visiting.&nbsp; He loved to travel, never knew a stranger, and no matter how far away he and his family traveled, he always ran into someone he knew.

On August 23, 1963, he married Marcia Grokett at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas.

Dick is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of 56 years, Marcia; son, Craig Cooper and wife Trisha; grandchildren, Colin, Mason, Callie, and Marlie Cooper; sister, Linda Zenor and husband Larry; nieces and nephews, Andy Cooper and wife Ann, Stacie Williams and husband Sean, Becky Sutton and husband Tim, and Beth Boxwell and husband Brent; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and his extended Cooper Tire and Willowbrook family.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; son, Curt Allen Cooper; brother, Dave Cooper; and sister-in-law, Jane Cooper.

Dona Ruth Dannelley, 87, formerly of Hutchinson, died December 11, 2019, at Brookdale Senior Living, McPherson. She was born April 1, 1932, in Skiatook, OK, the daughter of William and Lela (Sherrill) Pigg.&nbsp; Dona graduated from McPherson High School in 1950.

A resident of Hutchinson since 1964, she was a homemaker and retired from Farmland Industries after 17 years as a clerk. Dona was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On March 22, 1951, she married Donald D. Dannelley in McPherson. They shared 41 years of marriage before his death on April 6, 1992.

Survivors include: son, Shell Dannelley and wife Luciana of Dallas, TX; daughter, Renee Atwill and husband Don of Salina; grandchildren, Cameron Atwill of Salina, Morgan Atwill of Junction City, Kelsey Atwill of Salina; great-grandchildren, Pax, Layla, Alani; sisters, Frances Brown of Fair Oaks, CA, Sally Knapp of McPherson, and Alice Schmidt of Gastonia, NC.

Dona was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Charles ‘Dean’ Harrison, 61, of Mountain Home, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dean was born June 15, 1958, in Stafford, Kansas, to Charles Gary and Kay (Ellis) Harrison.

&nbsp;He graduated in 1976 from Mount Miguel High School in San Diego, California. He later moved back to Kansas in the spring of 1981.Before retiring in 2002, Dean worked as a road construction supervisor for Venture Corporation of Great Bend, Kansas, for 15 years.
