William “Bill” Edward Nisly, 88, died on August 5, 2020, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. He was born on October 22, 1931, to Edward and Lizzie (Yoder) Nisly, in Hutchinson, Kansas.  On April 29, 1956, he married Elizabeth Yutzy.

William was baptized as a teen in the Amish church, and was a member of Cedar Crest Amish Mennonite Church.

From 1952 to 1954, William served as a conscientious objector in the 1-W program at the Denver General Hospital. When he returned, he helped on the family farm due to his father’s failing health.

In 1962, William started working at Henson Dairy Supply as a dairy sales and serviceman, where he made many friends. In 1974, he bought the business with two of his brothers, which he continued until his retirement. For many years, he served on the Mennonite Friendship Manor board, the Etc. Shop Board, and was involved in numerous prison ministries.

William is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; their five children, Loretta (Arlis) Helmuth of Kalona, IA, Rosalie Nisly of Hutchinson, KS, Darrell (Kathryn) Nisly of Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Joanna (John) Riehl of Hutchinson, KS, and Eugene (Sharon) Nisly of Hutchinson, KS; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Harley, Lester (Edna), Larry (Barbara), and John Fredrick (Sara) Nisly; sister, Barbara Ellen (David E.) Miller; brother-in-law, Paul W. (Nancy) Nisly; and sisters-in-law, Iva Nisly and Cora Nisly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Victorious Sunshine and Rhiannon Elizabeth; two sisters, Vera Mae and Laura; and two brothers, Daniel and Elmer Nisly.

Visitation is on Friday, August 7, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral is on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., both at Cedar Crest Amish Mennonite Church.  Burial will follow at West Center Cemetery.
