Verlene “Sue” Pinkston, 73, of Hutchinson, died on August 14, 2020 at Good Samaritan, Hutchinson. She was born February 14, 1947, in Newton, KS, the daughter of Ray and Blanche (Wright) Waldo.

Sue graduated from Hutchinson High School and Bethel College where she received her Bachelor of Social Work. She was a social worker and addiction counselor retiring after 30 years. Sue enjoyed singing and playing the piano, sewing, crocheting and reading. She was a member of Full Gospel Church in Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Willie Mae Porter, Juanita Herring, Linda Latta and JoLene Dement; brothers, Donald and Wendell Urban.

Sue is survived by her children, Dori (Gary) Douglas, Chester (Julia) Pinkston Jr., Missy Pinkston, and Betsy (Patrick) Hahn; siblings, Don Porter, Alice Horrex, Patty Gough and Earl Urban; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson. Memorial donations can be made to a Hospice of Donors choice and sent in care of the funeral home.
