Brad Jay Burnison, 69, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at McPherson Hospital. He worked at Johns Manville, the McPherson Hospital EMT, and most recently was a traveling nurse.

Brad was born on September 15, 1951, in McPherson, KS, the son of Jule C. and Cleo R. (Alton) Burnison. He graduated from McPherson High School and went on to get a nursing degree.

Brad was a confirmed member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson.

Survivors include: a brother, Randy Burnison (Kathy) of Raymore, MO; a nephew, Jon-Jon Burnison (Maggie) of Wichita, KS; a niece, Ashley Nelson (Tuck) of Raymore, MO; great-niece, Kate Burnison; and two great-nephews, Jhett Nelson and Ryker Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jule Burnison and Elton “Colonel” &amp; Cleo Lundberg.

A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at McPherson Cemetery with Rev. Tim Leaf officiating.

Bret Michael Smith, 35, of Andover, passed away May 2, 2021. He was born November 26, 1985, in Hutchinson, to Lisa J. Wilson.

Bret graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Fort Hays State University in 2010. He began his career with Dillons in 2003 as a Courtesy Clerk in Hutchinson and was working as Store Manager at the Winfield store. Bret was recently promoted and was set to begin a new chapter in his career as a Dillons Expense Sustainability Manager.

An avid Texas Rangers fan, he enjoyed playing baseball and football at Hutch High, and then was a Rookie Modified dirt track racer (#82B). He also played golf in addition to working out. Bret loved spending time with his family and friends at backyard barbeques, and touched many lives with his infectious smile and warm personality.

He is survived by: his mother, Lisa Wilson of Hutchinson; sister, Maci Wilson of Hutchinson; grandparents, Fred Smith of Hutchinson, Sam and Esther Eash of South Hutchinson; uncles, Doug Smith (Shannon) of Kansas City, KS, Don Smith of Houston, TX; aunt, Lori Schneider of Houston, TX; cousins, Jordan Smith, Alyssa Bilyeu, Taylor Smith, Hannah Schneider; and many friends and associates who will miss him dearly.

Bret was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Smith.

Jessica Jo Humphrey, 35, of Hutchinson, died May 2, 2021, at her home. She was born November 18, 1985, in Liberal, the daughter of Michael A. and Jacqualyn G. (Agan) Humphrey.

Jessica attended Hutchinson schools through the 11th&nbsp;grade and then was home schooled. She loved animals and caring for pets of all kinds. Jessica had a real heart for children, expressed through sponsoring children through World Vision and supporting efforts to stop human trafficking through World Vision and Operation Underground Railroad. She wanted to help find a cure for muscular dystrophy through tissue donation after her own death. Jessica was a member of Berean Baptist Church.

She is survived by: her mother, Jackie Humphrey of Hutchinson; brothers, Jensen Moye (Dawn) of Hutchinson, Jayme Humphrey (Alyssa) of Dodge City; nieces and nephew, Tessa Moye, Griffin and Aria Humphrey; and grandmother, Ruby Agan of Liberal.

Jessica was preceded in death by: her father, Michael Humphrey; grandparents, Frederick and Blanch Humphrey, and grandfather, Arleigh Agan.

Marilyn Kay Huber, 70, formerly&nbsp;&nbsp;of Galva, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021, at her home in Mesa, AZ.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was a homemaker, mother, and cosmetologist for many years, among many other occupations. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1968 and Sidney’s Hairdressing College in 1969.

Marilyn was born July 11, 1950, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Milton M. and Phyllis J. (Allen) Lawrenz.&nbsp;&nbsp;She lived in Galva, KS for 18 years before moving to Mesa, AZ.

On November 28, 1970, she married LaVern A. Huber in McPherson. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2016.

She loved spending time with her boys and attending all their games.&nbsp;&nbsp;She enjoyed all the memories made going to the lake and playing golf.&nbsp;&nbsp;Marilyn also loved listening to her “oldies music”, and had a radio everywhere she went. She seldom watched television, unless her beloved Kansas City Chiefs were playing.

Survivors include: two sons, Jamie Huber (Rhonda) of Pratt, KS and Corey Huber (Jenny) of Lawrence, KS; brother, Rick Lawrenz (Anita) of McPherson, KS; sister, Kathy Linsner of McPherson, KS; four grandchildren, Paige Huber, Hunter Huber, Riley Huber, and Gage Huber; and many extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Danny Lawrenz.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 21, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson. A private burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

La Vada Jean Nyborg, 88, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away on April 28, 2021 at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born on March 3, 1933 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Floyd and Marie (Rolfsmeyer) Carter.

La Vada graduated from Whittier High School, Whittier, California in 1951.  She graduated from Adela Hale Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas in 1955.

On July 8, 1960, La Vada married Lee Roy Nyborg in Hutchinson, Kansas and they shared 60 years together.

La Vada was devoted to her faith.  She volunteered for many years at South Hutchinson Elementary school where she enjoyed helping the students.  She loved playing " Granny Tag" with her great grandchildren, Rylee, Ryder, Paisley, Addi and Kaden on Sundays at family dinner.

La Vada is survived by her son, Craig ( Shirley) Nyborg, 6 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee and daughter, Sheila.

Cremation has taken place and a come and go service will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 North Main Street, Hutchinson, Kansas, with the family present from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Albert Lee Hicks, Jr., 66, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 in Wichita, KS. He was born in Medicine Lodge, KS., on Dec. 22, 1954 to Albert and Beatrice (Guliford) Hicks. 

Albert graduated from Medicine Lodge High School and attended Pratt Community College where he received his Associate Degree. On February 9, 1973 he married Ronda Hicks in Pratt, KS. He was a member of New Resurrection Church of Hutchinson and a member of Bethel AME Church and sang in the men’s choir. 

Albert began working as a cashier at Walmart in 1991. He played Santa Clause for many years. He was a self- employed entrepreneur with seasonal lawn care, snow removal and firewood and loved to farm and take care of animals. Albert enjoyed being around family and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. 

Albert is survived by his children, Albert L. Hicks III and Dawn Hicks; sisters, Anna and Mary Hicks; sister-in-law’s, Louise and Vanessa Carter; grandchildren, Kyla, Taiya, Camille, Aiden Stevens, Faith Hicks and numerous nieces and nephews and an Uncle Herbert Guliford. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a daughter Aletha Hicks. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at New Resurrection Church, 1500 Forrest Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Albert Lee Hicks | 1954 - 2021 |

Lester D. Jantz, 92, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Saturday, May 1st, 2021 peacefully with his wife by his side, at Cedars House.

Lester was born in 1/2 mile West of Galva, on his parents Homestead, on January 4, 1929, a son of Ruth Olga (Eck) and Edwin Henry Jantz.

Lester attended the Galva grade school and graduated from Galva High School, Galva, Kansas in 1947.

He was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church McPherson, KS where he served his church in many capacities through the years.

Lester served in the United States Air Force as a SSGT in the Korean War. He received the NDSM and GCM and served with the 3635th Field Maintenance Squadron.

Lester Dean Jantz was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Stucky on August 5, 1955 at the Eden Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, two sons and one daughter, Steven, Tony, and Angela.

Lester started in 1945 working for San-Ore Construction until 1948. In 1949 he began working for Hutch Concrete Company building Silos until 1950 when he was called to serve his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. In 1954 after his honorable discharge he went back to Hutch Concrete until February of 1955 when he began working for Boeing Aircraft working on Jet Engines. In 1955 there was a lay off and Lester came home and worked for his dad on the farm until later that year when he started working for Lake Superior Lumber Company. In 1966 the name changed to Harris Lumber Co. and Lester became partners with Harold Harris, Warner Harris, and Harold Schlender until 1985 when Lester and Shirley purchased the lumber yard and changed the name to Jantz Lumber Company.

He served as past President and Board Member of the Kansas Lumber Association; Board of the Mid America Lumber Association; had served as Director of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and had served this community in many other capacities over many years; Lester was a member of the Lions Club and Noon Kiwanis Club.

Lester enjoyed traveling, gardening, landscaping, camping, fishing, his family, and enjoyed watching and collecting model trains and airplanes, and southern gospel music.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 65 years, Shirley Jantz, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Steven Jantz and wife Heidi, of McPherson, Kansas, Tony Jantz and wife Joleen, of McPherson, Kansas, and Angela Sue Krehbiel and husband Jeff, of McPherson, Kansas; his sister, Betty Stucky, of Wichita, Kansas; his six grandchildren, Levi Jantz, Joshua Jantz, Adam Jantz and wife Megan, Danielle Chrans and husband Brenten, Matthew Jantz, and Zachary Krehbiel and wife Janae; his eight great-grandchildren - Jamison Jantz, Luke Jantz, David Jantz, Adalynn Jantz, Emma Jantz, Logan Chrans, Kailey Chrans, and Corbin Krehbiel; nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ruth Jantz and a brother Virgil Jantz.

Visitation will be held on Friday May 7, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

The funeral service will be held at New Hope Evangelical Church, McPherson, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 with Pastor George Bocox Officiating.

Burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas with members of the V.F.W. Post 2715 and American Legion Post 24 providing Military Honors and Mark Casebeer providing Taps.

Lila Jean Stelter, 86, of Haven, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at Haven House.&nbsp; She was born October 16, 1934 in Haven, the daughter of Charley and Geneva (Moreland) Dickerson.

Lila graduated from Haven High School with the class of 1952.

She was united in marriage to Carl C. Stelter on January 1, 1952 in Huntsville, Arkansas.&nbsp; They were married nearly 70 years.

Lila and Carl raised five children in Haven, where she was a homemaker, a very talented seamstress and fantastic cook, especially known for her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls.&nbsp; Lila sold Avon for many years and worked as a secretary for Packaging Corporation of America.&nbsp; She was a lifelong member of the Haven United Methodist Church, serving on many committees in the church including the memorials committee and heading up the funeral dinners for many years.

Lila is survived by her husband, Carl C. Stelter; daughters, Carla (Monte) Long of South Hutchinson, Debra (David) Craighead of Fulton, Missouri, and Kathie Hathaway of Ottawa; son, Kurt (Dana Deardeuff) of Wichita; five grandchildren, Brooke Kirmer of Wichita, Chad (Libby) Long of Maize, Adam Hathaway of Lawrence, Andrea (Tyler) Fredricks of Ottawa, and Garrett Stelter of Wichita; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Twietmeyer-Perry of Wichita and Charlene Heim of Haven; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry Faye Carmichael, 84, died April 26, 2021, at Diversicare of Hutchinson.  He was born July 10, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Clyde Harold and Mildred Dilcy (Romig) Carmichael. 

Jerry graduated from Haven High School, and retired from Dan Dee Air as a welder.   His life revolved around fishing and hunting, and MORE fishing and hunting.  Jerry was a member of Full Gospel Fellowship Church, Hutchinson.

On October 28, 1976, he married Juanita Jane (Jantz) Borntrager, in Hutchinson.  They met while both worked at Collins Industries.

Jerry is survived by:  his wife of over 44 years, Juanita of Hutchinson; children, Elaine Gaskel (Nick), Christina Frost (Doug), all of Joplin, MO, Jerry Dean Carmichael (Diana) of South Hutchinson, and John Carmichael (Carla) of Hutchinson; stepdaughters, Linda Bush and Jo Ann Stofer of Hutchinson; brother, Tim Carmichael (Janie) of Haven; grandchildren, Christie, Charlie, Brandy, Allen, Jerry Dean, Jr., Joshua, Jordan, Nikki, Tiffany, Tyler, Jesse, Lisa, Nick, Jeremy and Kim; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Albert Lee Hicks, Jr., 66, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 in Wichita, KS. He was born in Medicine Lodge, KS., on December 22, 1954 to Albert and Beatrice (Guliford) Hicks.

Albert graduated from Medicine Lodge High School and attended Pratt Community College where he received his Associate Degree. On February 9, 1973 he married Ronda Hicks in Pratt, KS. He was a member of New Resurrection Church of Hutchinson and a member of Bethel AME Church and sang in the men’s choir.

Albert began working as a cashier at Walmart in 1991. He played Santa Clause for many years. He was a self- employed entrepreneur with seasonal lawn care, snow removal and firewood and loved to farm and take care of animals. Albert enjoyed being around family and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Albert is survived by his children, Albert L. Hicks III and Dawn Hicks; sisters, Anna and Mary Hicks; sister-in-law’s, Louise and Vanessa Carter; grandchildren, Kyla, Taiya, Camille, Aiden Stevens, Faith Hicks and numerous nieces and nephews and an Uncle Herbert Guliford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a daughter Aletha Hicks.

Darryl Ammons, 81, of Hutchinson, died May 3, 2021, at his home. He was born January 13, 1940, in Pampa, Texas to Carl and Bennie (Oliphant) Ammons.

Darryl graduated from high school in Pampa in 1958, and went on to earn his associate’s degree at Decatur Baptist College. He worked in the oil and gas industry as a field operations director for ConocoPhillips. Darryl was a member of Crosspoint Church, Hutchinson. He loved to read and visit with his friends and family. Darryl enjoyed attending athletic events for his children and grandchildren. He had the gift of encouragement, uplifting anyone who he came into contact with, even those who were there to care for him.

On September 17, 1960, Darryl married Dorothy Nell Pitts in Pampa, Texas. They shared 60 years together.

He is survived by: wife, Dot Ammons, Hutchinson; daughter, Shanda Wilkens (Scott), Hutchinson; sons, Bruce Ammons (Ruthie), Houston, Texas, Gregg Ammons (Tinese), Lubbock, Texas, and Shawn Ammons (Cheryl), Conway Springs; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Studebaker (Harold), Allenreed, Texas; and nephew, Derek Studebaker (Jolene), Amarillo, Texas.

Darryl was preceded in death by his parents.

Lavona Ann Craig, 70, of Partridge, died April 30, 2021. She was born April 11, 1951, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to Orval and Ruth (Fritz) Patterson.

Lavona was a military wife, which gave her the opportunity to work in many different fields, including: a teacher’s aide, school cook, librarian, and nurse. She worked as a nurse for Hutchinson Hospital for many years. Lavona was a caregiver and  filled any and every need she came across. She was an excellent cook and often fed children in her community.

On May 10, 1969, she married Walter Lynn Craig, in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 52 years together.

Lavona is survived by: husband, Walter Craig, Partridge; daughter, Shannon Brewer (Richard), Partridge; son, Steve Craig (Amy), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Candice, Curtis, Cassie, Paige, Aaron, and Cameron; one great-grandson, Jameson; sister, Melba Bryant, Hutchinson; and brothers, Leon and Ricky Patterson, both of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Glenda Patterson.

Lavona Ann Craig | 1951 - 2021 |

Carol Jean Andrews Partridge “Dee Dee” passed away April 30, 2021 at Hospice House. She was born October 27, 1942 at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson, KS to Jack H. Andrews and Layna M. (Kelly) Andrews.

Carol graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1960, with the last class from the old high school building. She worked as a social worker in Hutchinson for many years before retiring. Carol touched numerous lives during her work at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and made many lifelong friends. At different times she had worked in retail and could sell just about anything. Carol earned her private pilot’s license and flew her first solo flight on her birthday, October 27, 1967. As co-owner of Benton Aviation from the early 70's to the late 80’s, she was known for her amazing photography of homesteads from the air.

Carol loved horseback riding. Along with friends and family she spent many weekends riding the trails in the Gypsum Hills in Medicine Lodge. Her abilities as a seamstress were well-known, as were her love for gardening and the color purple.

Once grandkids came into her life, she could be found making mud pies with them and feeding them frosting before sending them home to their parents.

In 2005, Carol married Jim Partridge and they shared over 15 years of marriage together. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include: her children, Shelby Nuss (Donnie Clouse), Jack Stanfield (Rose), and Lisa Benton, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, JD Stanfield (Carla) of Hutchinson, John Rathman (Brandyn) of Wichita, Erin Cokeley (Kyle) of South Hutchinson, and Destinee Archer (Lane) of Hutchinson; and great-grandchildren, JoJo and Jackson Stanfield. She is also survived by the rest of the 'Andrews Sisters', Jackie Ashcraft (Steve) and Jenni Ankerholz, both of Hutchinson, and Denny Kellogg (Steve) of Florissant, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place. The family with hold a Celebration of Life at a later date per Carol’s wishes. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, at Elliott Mortuary.

Her abilities as a seamstress were well-known, as were her love for gardening and the color purple.Once grandkids came into her life, she could be found making mud pies with them and feeding them frosting before sending them home to their parents.In 2005, Carol married Jim Partridge and they shared over 15 years of marriage together. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include: her children, Shelby Nuss (Donnie Clouse), Jack Stanfield (Rose), and Lisa Benton, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, JD Stanfield (Carla) of Hutchinson, John Rathman (Brandyn) of Wichita, Erin Cokeley (Kyle) of South Hutchinson, and Destinee Archer (Lane) of Hutchinson; and great-grandchildren, JoJo and Jackson Stanfield. She is also survived by the rest of the 'Andrews Sisters', Jackie Ashcraft (Steve) and Jenni Ankerholz, both of Hutchinson, and Denny Kellogg (Steve) of Florissant, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents.Cremation has taken place. Wesley Scott Buhrman, 64, of Hutchinson, died April 26, 2021, while in the care of Hospice House. He was born July 24, 1956, in St. John, to Carl and Jean (Kernohan) Buhrman.

Wes graduated from Scott Community High School in 1975 and from Liberal Area Vocational Technical School, with training in mechanics. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was hired by Cities Service Gas Company a few years after graduating from Vocational college and he worked there for over 20 years in different capacities (Mechanic, Superintendent of Vehicle Operations, and Meter Technician).

Wes&nbsp;fulfilled his life-long&nbsp;dream of owning his own business when he opened the&nbsp;"Buhrman Service Station"&nbsp;on Main street in Hutchinson. Wes continued his self-employment dream in a handyman capacity once he committed to the care of both his parents through their later years.

Wes is survived by: his children, Deon Buhrman of Basehor, Gerome Buhrman (Jennifer) of Olathe; grandchildren, Kaden, Ashtyn Payton, Mia, Emmerson; mother, Jean Buhrman of Hutchinson; brother, Ron Buhrman (Deb) of Hesston; nephews and niece, Brett, Blake, Amy; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Buhrman.

On June 18, 1941, Retha married Robert Earl Martin, in Ozark, MO. They shared over 53 years of marriage, prior to his death on May 26, 1995.

She is survived by: sons, Robert L. Martin of Fort Pierce, FL, and Jerry W. (Peggy) Martin of Fort Worth, TX; siblings, Margie Sterling of Springfield, MO, James Sterling of Mountain Home, ID, Edith Sterling of Springfield, MO, Marylyn Sterling of Little Rock AR, Carol Murphy of Springfield, MO, Frank Sterling of Springfield, MO, and Tom Sterling of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Don Leon Kern, 74, passed away April 27, 2021, at his home in Great 
Bend. He was born December 17, 1946, at Great Bend, to Ervin &amp; 
Lucille (Murphy) Kern. He married Donna Dino February 19, 1966 at Great 
Bend. She died July 11, 1985. He then married Connie Fisher and they 
later divorced. He then later married Lisa Marie on March 12, 2021.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Don worked for Allen Drilling and 
most recently worked for E&amp;E Paint &amp; Glass. Don was a member of 
Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He especially 
loved to spend time with his family and his American Pit Bull Remi.

Survivors include, his wife, Lisa Kern of the home; three sons, Lafe 
Kern and wife Erin of Hutchinson, Dino Kern of Morrison, Colo., and 
Reggie Kern and wife Meghan of Great Bend; a daughter, RaeGina Werth of 
Great Bend; a brother, Jerry Kern and wife Kayleen of Great Bend; a 
sister, Judy Cobb of Kansas City, Kan.; twelve grandchildren, Lafe Kern,

Joyce Eileen Harris Buffington, 89, passed away April 24, 2021, at Pleasant View Home in Inman, KS. Joyce was born April 1932, in Marquette, KS, the daughter of Dale and Iola Harris. 

She was a graduate of Marquette High School.&nbsp;

Joyce married Don Buffington in 1950. They enjoyed an adventurous life together for 67 years while Don was a construction worker on flood control dams and the missile defense system, and later operated his own steel fabrication shops. After they retired, Joyce and Don moved to Little River, but spent winters in Truth or Consequences, NM in their RV. They became friends with fellow Midwest snowbirds who returned each year to TorC.&nbsp;

Joyce was proud to be a homemaker, raising three children. As the kids grew up, Joyce’s outgoing personality and love of people drew her to become a very successful Stanley Home Products representative. In addition, she excelled in department store sales.

Joyce was known as Grandma Joyce to her eight grandchildren, her nine great grandchildren and all their friends. Visits to Grandma Joyce’s house called for Swedish pancakes for breakfast, running through the sprinklers, learning to garden and mow the grass, crafts projects, fried chicken for dinner, and exploring the overflowing toy box of treasures. The grandkids were never allowed to be bored; Grandma Joyce always had fun suggestions to keep them busy. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed custom western shirts for Don. And she gave the best hugs in the world. Everyone was family to Joyce, and she never met a stranger. Her passing touched people from Canada to Brazil.

Bonnie Mae (Swindaman) Burnette, 95, passed away at Hospice House in Hutchinson on April 25, 2021. She was born Feb. 5, 1926, at the family home near Nankin, Ohio. 

She graduated from Howard (KS) High School in 1944 and attended Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia) before accepting a position teaching 4th&nbsp;and then 3rd&nbsp;grade at Coldwater (KS) Elementary School.&nbsp; 

She married Burke Burnette in 1948, and their daughter Michaelyn was born in 1949. After a divorce, Bonnie and her daughter moved to Hutchinson, where Bonnie attended Adela Hale Business School. Bonnie worked for many years in the Industrial Engineering Department at Cessna. 

She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, and drinking coffee while talking with friends. She made Christmas very special with festive decorations and delicious meals; her sugar cookies will be much missed. She enjoyed playing with children; her face would light up when holding a baby or interacting with a child. She was always generous with help and forthright advice.

She was preceded in death by her parents W. C. Swindaman and Mildred (Tucker) Swindaman, brothers William, Robert and Dick Swindaman and sister Betty Morr. 

She is survived by her daughter Michaelyn Burnette, son-in-law Terry Tierney, grandson John Tierney, and nieces and nephews including Joyce Telakaowiz, Beverley Ebenshade, Connie Johnston, Bill and Bob Swindaman, Pat Swindaman, Lisa Thomison Ballout along with numerous great nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

Burial will be in Nankin (Orange) Cemetary, where she will rest by her parents.

Elizabeth (Yutzy) Nisly, 87, passed away on April 26, 2021 at her home in rural Hutchinson. She was born on Oct. 23, 1933, in Hutchinson, KS to Eli N. and Fanny (Miller) Yutzy.

Elizabeth married William Edward Nisly on April 29, 1956, and they shared 64 years of marriage before his death on Aug. 5, 2020. Together, they raised five children. Elizabeth was a lifelong homemaker and an active member of Cedar Crest Amish Mennonite Church and the surrounding community. Elizabeth’s life mission was to glorify God in service to those around her and she remained committed to that goal until her death. She had a special gift for hospitality and regularly welcomed others into her home for a meal and fellowship.

Elizabeth is survived by: her five children: Loretta (Arlis) Helmuth of Kalona, IA; Rosalie Nisly of Hutchinson, KS; Darrell (Kathryn) Nisly of Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Joanna (John) Riehl, and Eugene (Sharon) Nisly of Hutchinson, KS; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; sister Laura Yutzy, sister-in-law: Alta Yutzy.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, William Nisly; brothers: Herman, John, and Raymond Yutzy; sisters: Fern Beachy, and Emma Nisly; two granddaughters: Victorious Sunshine and Rhiannon Elizabeth Nisly; sisters-in-law: Mary Yutzy and Sylvia Yutzy; and two brothers-in-law: Harley Nisly and Rufus Beachy.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Cedar Crest Amish Mennonite Church, with Pastor Lee Nisly officiating. Final viewing will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in West Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Cedar Crest Amish Mennonite Church.

JoAnn Johnston, 92, of Hutchinson, died April 26, 2021, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Hutchinson, to Oscar and Georgia (Baxley) Moore.

JoAnn graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1946. She was a homemaker and a mother. JoAnn also worked as a teacher’s aide for a special education class for a time. While living in Texas she was active in her church, especially helping with bereavement dinners. JoAnn was also very talented at crocheting.

On March 20, 1949, she married Travis Johnston, in Hutchinson. They shared 65 years together before he passed away on June 5, 2014.

JoAnn is survived by daughter, Jean Gordon (Jim), Hutchinson; son, Jim Johnston (Charla), Spring Hill; daughter, Jill Osborn (Steve), St. Louis, Missouri; son, Joe Johnston (Beth), College Station, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Travis Johnston; daughter, Jane Johnston; and brother, Jim Moore.

Private family funeral service will be Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Ava Jane Campbell, 89, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Mt. Hope Nursing Home, Mt. Hope, KS. Ava was born July 7, 1931 in Eldorado, KS, the daughter of Theodore J and Lucy E. (Barnes) McAlister.

Ava is survived by her children, Darrell (Linda) Miller, Doug (Heather) Miller, Beth Miller (Les Wright), David (Deb) Miller, Julie (Scott) Welch, and Dean (Joan) Miller; three sisters, Georgia Maxwell, Judy Trimmell, and Kathy Maxwell; one brothers, Roy McAlister; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by his parents, her husband, Thomas; and a brother Jim McAlister. A Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; Memorials may be given to Phoenix Hospice or Mt.
