Tommy Allan ‘Tom’ Reed, 83, of Hutchinson, died April 13, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born June 16, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Ray and Vara (Gagnebin) Reed.

Tom attended Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. Tom worked at Winchester Packing Company for 22 years before becoming a truck driver for Dillons, a job he held for 10 years before retiring. Following that, he went to work for the City of Hutchinson on their summer crew. Tom was a member of Teamsters Local 795. His biggest joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

On Aug. 3, 1963, Tom married Judith ‘Judy’ Hale at Haven United Methodist Church. They shared 58 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Jay Reed (Chere) and Lisa Valentine (Ron) all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jeff Valentine of Haven, Katy Fawcett (Austin) of Wichita, Emily, Jon, and Jake Reed, all of Hutchinson, sisters, Patsy Moylan (Al) of Snohomish, WA, Linda Humphrey (Frank) of Abbyville; sister-in-law, Bernice Reed of South Hutchinson, brother-in-law, Ron Hale (Joneen) of Kansas City, MO; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Joe Reed; sisters, Shirley Schoonover, Glenna Arneson, and Deanna Hammer.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Laurel Cemetery, Haven, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

The service will be webcast and the link will be available below beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Ruby “Jean” Clark, 89, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, surrounded by family at The Cedars, McPherson. She was the co-owner of A-C Rentals and worked as a bookkeeper at the Red Coach Restaurant.

Jean was born on Sept. 20, 1931, in Rockwall, TX, the daughter of Charlie Oscar and Pearl Lena (Mooney) Howell. She graduated from Central Academy and Central College.&nbsp;&nbsp;On May 2, 1967, Jean was united in marriage to Laurence “Larry” A. Clark in McPherson, KS. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2009.

She was a member of the McPherson Free Methodist Church, Red Hat Society, Pylettes, and TOPS. Club.

Survivors include: her daughter, Pam Clark (Tracy Schmidt) of McPherson, KS; granddaughter, Chaz Clark (Lance Bean) of McPherson, KS; great-granddaughter, Collier Bean of McPherson, KS; step-daughter, Sandy Clark of McPherson, KS; a brother, Charles Howell (Rachel) of Mansfield, TX; a sister, Margie Peoples (Dosville) of Rockwall, TX; and several nieces &amp; nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son, Freddie Taylor.

James “Jim” B. Batson, 87, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital. He worked for over 35 years at Kansas Power &amp; Light where he was a welding supervisor.&nbsp;

Jim was born on June 21, 1933, in Wellington, KS, the son of William Lee and Erma Fae (Turpin) Batson. He graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College. On July 5, 1952, Jim was united in&nbsp;&nbsp;marriage to Lucille W. Flory in McPherson.&nbsp;

He was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren. He was an avid golfer and was the first member of Turkey Creek Golf Course. He enjoyed racing go-carts, water skiing, and boating.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille of the home; three children, Cindy Kaufman (Cameron) of Buhler, KS, Janet Barthman (Mike) of Abilene, KS, and Bruce Batson of Wichita, KS; a brother, Jerry Batson of McPherson, KS; special friends, Harold and Penny Selzer of McPherson, KS; twelve grandchildren, Chris Cheesman (Mandy), Joseph Kaufman (Blanca), Katie Heller (Joe), Ian Tinsley (Bridgette), Brook Batson, Nick Batson, Stefanie Osborne (Dave), Jeremy Batson (Ashley), Eric Batson, Kelly Batson, Erica Selzer, and Patrick Selzer (Katie); and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by&nbsp;&nbsp;his parents, two brothers, William Batson and Donald Batson; and a son, Wayne Batson.

James “Jim” B. Batson | 1933 - 2021 |

Rev. Gene Allen McBride of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at Schowalter Villa, at the age of 91 years. He was born December 1, 1929, in Friend, Nebraska, the son of Fred and Grace (Schmidt) McBride.

He attended grade schools in York and Nance Counties in Nebraska and graduated from Fullerton High School with the class of 1947. He often spoke of his acceptance of Christ as his Savior at a revival meeting in the fall of 1943 in the Methodist Church in Fullerton.

He was united in marriage to Areta Longenecker on April 8, 1949.

For several years, he farmed with his father in Nebraska and his father-in-law in Minnesota, where he felt God called him to mission work. On January 3, 1953, after graduating from Bethany School of Missions in Bloomington, Minnesota, Gene, Areta, and their three year old daughter, Jeanette, set sail for Portuguese Guinea (now Guinea-Bissau) in West Africa.&nbsp; Here, Gene was baptized early in his ministry. They served in church planting under the Worldwide Evangelization for Christ (WEC) Mission until 1988, when they returned to the States because of Areta’s failing health. Gene then became the executive director of the Missionary Retreat Fellowship, a complex of homes for missionaries on furlough near Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania.

Following Areta’s death in 1994, Gene married Elizabeth (Fast) Jantzen in 1996 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, who also joined him in the work at MRF. In 2001, they retired from this work and moved to Hesston, Kansas.

He and Liz became members of the Garden Community Church, where he served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and an elder. Throughout life, Gene continued his interest in, and love and support for mission work and missionaries. In his retirement years, he also volunteered weekly at the Source of Light Mission in Newton, Kansas.&nbsp;

In retirement, Gene was employed part-time by Preferred Builders for several years. He loved to travel, read, hunt and fish.

On March 18, 2019 he became a resident in nursing care at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Jeanette (Gary) Stangland; step-daughters, Ellen (Matt) Miles and Martha Bragg; grandsons, Eric (Devon) Stangland and Jason (Joli) Stangland; great-grandson, Calvin Stangland; step-grandchildren, Jazzmin Bragg, Regal Bragg, Georgia Johnson, Micayla (Joel) Shrimpton, Macy Miles, and Mattie Miles; step-great-grandchildren, Mar’Gianna and Imani Wade; and siblings, Norma Longenecker, Valerie Ross, Wayne (Joyce) McBride, Dwayne (Sharon) McBride, and LaVonne (Chuck) Abela.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Areta; sister, Twyla McNeff; and brother, Galen McBride.

Cremation is planned with memorial services to be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Garden Community Church, rural Moundridge. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Sue Ann Franko, 76, of Hutchinson, died April 11, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born November 13, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Sam and Marian Williams.

Marian died when Sue was five years old and Violet Morgan cared for her and legally adopted her after Sam’s death.

Sue graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1962 and Emporia State Teacher’s College in 1966. She taught physical education at Sherman Middle School for 6 years until her daughters were born. Sue then did substitute teaching and volunteered at the Cosmosphere. She then ran Dr. Goddard’s Lab at the Cosmosphere for many years. Sue directed the Red Cross swimming program in Hutchinson for many years. She also worked at the Kansas State Fair, first in concessions and then as director of the Professional Art Building. Sue enjoyed wheat-weaving and traveling to craft shows with her family.

On June 16, 1967, she married James R. ‘Jim’ Franko in Hutchinson. He survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Jennifer Viel (Tom) of Winnebago, IL, and Kristine Franko of Edgerton, WI.; grandchildren, Amber and Hunter Egelhoff of Jerseyville, IL, Luke and Anna Viel of Winnebago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a half-sister.

Mert loved the Lord and was a member of New Resurrection Church, Hutchinson. She was a loving, giving wife, mother, and sister, and cherished time with her family.

In 1963, she married Robert E. Harness, in Hutchinson. He died in September 2000, after 37 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Mert is survived by: daughters, Mia A. Harness of Oklahoma City, OK, and Tiffany N. Harness of Washington, D.C.; siblings, Luther Crawford, Jr. and&nbsp; Annette Crawford, both of Hutchinson, and Ann Robinson of Great Bend; and close friends, Jack Stevens, Lela Marie Jenks and Daniel Ekubagzi.

Rev. Eric John Zacharias, 101, of Pretty Prairie, died April 8, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 18, 1920, in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Rev. John E. and Marie H. (Klassen) Zacharias.

Eric graduated from Herbert High School in 1939, Urbana College in 1941, and both Boston University and Swedenborg School of Religion in Cambridge, MA, in 1950. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941-1945.

Except for serving the El-Cerrito, CA, church from 1958-1962, Eric was minister at New Jerusalem Church, Pretty Prairie, from 1950 to 2006. He served two terms as mayor of the City of Pretty Prairie and two terms as president of the&nbsp;Swedenborgian Church&nbsp;of North America. Eric also worked for the Welfare Departments of Reno and Kingman Counties for several years and was instrumental in the beginning of Horizons Mental Health Center, where he also worked for 5 years.

On May 29, 1943, Eric married Alice E. ‘Betty’ Melenbacher, in Ayr, Ontario, Canada. They shared 66 years of marriage before her death on October 15, 2009.

He is survived by: children, Richard Zacharias (Bev) of Wichita, Lynn Charlesworth (Bill) of Montoursville, PA, Veneta Lane of Hutchinson, Rebecca Colbert of Urbana, OH, Ames Zacharias (Sue) of Kennewick, WA; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren; sisters, Laura Simpson of New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, Marian Hoeck of Copenhagen, Denmark; and numerous extended family members.

Betty Ketch Parker Rayl, 91, of Tulsa, OK, died April 12, 2021, at Heritage Point of Tulsa. She was born May 31, 1929, in Douglas, KS, to Ernest and Ollie (Breshears) Ketch.

Betty graduated from Haven High School in 1947, and then attended Adela Hale Business College. She worked for Dillon’s in the accounting department, until she retired. After retirement, Betty worked in retail at the Hallmark store and for Demonstrations Unlimited. She was a member of First Church of God in Hutchinson.

Betty married Bob Parker on May 25, 1948. They later divorced. On June 30, 1973, she married Myron Rayl. He preceded her in death.

Betty is survived by: daughters, Barbara Walters (Larry), Bixby,OK, and Beverly Edgemon (Don), Ponca City, OK; five grandchildren, Alan and Adam Walters, JaneAnn Burgard, David McAlhaney, and Michael McAlhaney; 11 great-grandchildren; and niece, Candace Fankhouser.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lois Fankhouser.

Bonnie Josephine Boyle, 87, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Lindsborg, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021, at The Cedars, McPherson. She was a homemaker and school teacher. She also worked in the school libraries in Dodge City, KS.

She was born on February 23, 1934, in Glenville, Minnesota, the daughter of Willard and Ruth Young. She graduated from Wessington Springs College (South Dakota) and from Greenville College (Illinois). On July 21, 1956, Bonnie was united in marriage to John E. Boyle in Glenville.

She was a member of the McPherson Free Methodist Church and attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsborg.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 64 years, Rev. John Boyle; two sons, Jay Boyle (Marta) and Jack Boyle (Jean);&nbsp;&nbsp;daughter-in-law, Susan Boyle; two grandchildren, Dustin Boyle and Johnathan Boyle; three great-grandchildren, Clara Boyle, Walker Boyle, and Kelty Boyle; a brother, Russell Young; a sister, Edith Grosland; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Joseph Edward Boyle, and a sister, Ruth Royer.

78, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Via Christi 
Village Care Center, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born June 28, 1942, in 
Russell, Kansas to Alfonse and Silverina I. (Quint) Hammersmith.&nbsp; He 
married Mary Ellen (Hammerschmidt) on August 25, 1966, at Russell, 
Kansas.&nbsp;

He owned and operated H &amp; B 
Petroleum of Hutchinson since 1997, and he has always worked in the oil 
fields.&nbsp; He and Mary made their home in Ellinwood, Kansas for about 30 
years, they also lived in Plainville, Ness City, and Hutchinson.&nbsp; He 
grew up in&nbsp; Gorham and was a 1960 graduate of Gorham High School.&nbsp; He 
served three years in the U.S. Army, a member of 3rd and 4th Degree 
Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Church of the Holy Cross of 
Hutchinson.

He donated to many organizations 
locally and across the globe.&nbsp; He had a real passion for supporting 
Catholic education, especially schools that his grandkids attended.&nbsp; He 
enjoyed life to the fullest.&nbsp; He loved to camp and fish, play golf, 
going to the casino, spending time with friends and family, and cheering
 on the Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals.

Above all, his real passion in 
life was his faith, family and work. He was a devoted husband, Dad and 
Grandpa.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was proud of his Volga German heritage.&nbsp; He was a model for
 the importance of prayer, faith and hard work in one’s life.&nbsp; He always
 cherished the times when his family could spend time together.&nbsp; 
Finally, you could always count on him supporting his kids and grandkids
 as he traveled many miles to watch the many activities they 
participated in. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Mary

Cheryll Lee Otte, 62 of Canton, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at her home in Canton, just a few days short of her 63rd birthday.&nbsp; She was born April 12, 1958 in Moundridge, the daughter of Keith and Marion (Whitley) Koller. Cheryll lived all of her life in McPherson County and was a loving mother to her sons, Matthew and Christopher. She was a cook, of which she excelled wonderfully, for various restaurants and clubs throughout her working career.

She was united in marriage to Roger C. Otte in McPherson and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2020. She was a member of the Canton American Legion Auxiliary Post #192.

Survivors include her two sons, Matthew K. Hill and fiance, Catlin of Denver, Colorado and Christopher L. Hill and wife, Kristin of Canton; a brother, Jeff Koller and wife, Becky of Moundridge and a host of other relatives and friends.

On April 4, 2021, this world lost a sweet, kind soul. Jaiden Michael, the boy who stole my heart, my first love. With those multiple dimples, that contagious smile, and the most respectable manner, he won the hearts of many.

Born at Hutchinson Hospital on June 11, 1995, he was a lifelong resident of Hutchinson. Jaiden was a graduate of Hutchinson High School, Class of 2014. He later graduated from Tulsa Welding School in June of 2019. Jaiden was employed by Royer Brothers Tree Service.

Mark Patrick Miller, 62, of Marquette, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Mark was a lifetime McPherson County resident.

Mark was born on March 17, 1959, in McPherson, KS, the son of Leonard Leo and Lois Mae (Hufferd) Miller. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1978. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also loved photography and astronomy. He spent most of his working years as an HVAC technician.

Survivors include: seven siblings, Leonard “Lenny” Miller, Jr. (Sharyl) of McPherson, KS, Mary Beavers (David) of Republican City, NE, Ronald Miller (Colleen) of Marquette, KS, Kevin Miller (Sue) of Colorado Springs, CO, Susan Miller (Carol Thebeau) of San Marcos, CA, Lisa Willett (Kevin) of Hastings, NE, and Judy Harris (Mitchel) of Ingalls, KS; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry K. Miller, and a niece, Christine Miller.

Robert Lee Dalke, 89, died on April 5, 2021 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, KS. He was born on June 22, 1931 to Dan and Sadie (Wedel) Dalke. Robert grew up in Galva, KS area and went to Happy Hollow School and Moundridge High School. He was the middle child of three boys.

Robert and Margie Penner were married on June 22, 1950, and had six children. They shared 68 years together. Rob was a devoted husband and father putting the needs of his family first. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks and was involved with trucking for his working career. Along with Margie, they owned and operated Aero Equipment and Dalke Transport. Later in life they enjoyed driving a truck together over the road.

Robert worked hard to obtain a pilot’s license. He liked flying and used his airplane for business and pleasure.

Christian values were a large part of Rob’s life.&nbsp; He read the Bible and prayed daily. Robert and Margie were involved with The Gideons International for many years. His greatest wish was that his family would all be reunited in heaven.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Margie, son, LeMar Dalke, daughter, Dixie Lee Dalke, granddaughter, Lauren Crissey, parents, brothers, Melvin (Esther) Dalke, and Allen Dalke.

Survivors include sons, Jay Dalke, of Newton, Jan Dalke, of Hesston, Jim (Brenda) Dalke, of Moundridge; daughter, Robin (Robert) Crissey of Franklin, TN., grandchildren, Justin (Krystle) Dalke, Wichita, Jerrod Dalke, Moundridge and Jenna Crissey, Franklin, TN.;&nbsp; five great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Yvonne Dalke, Camden, SC.

Cheri Burnell, 72, of Hutchinson, died April 7, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 13, 1948, in Englewood, Colorado, to Eugene and Betty (Sandstedt) Uphoff.

Cheri graduated high school in Englewood. She worked as a mortgage processor. On March 10, 2001, Cheri married Jerry Burnell in Mansville, Colorado.

She is survived by: husband, Jerry Burnell, Hutchinson; daughter, Kristy Shackelford, Hutchinson; sister, Nancy Bishop; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Cheri was preceded in death by: her parents; sons, Michael and Greg Forbes; and twin babies who passed at birth.

Per Cheri’s wishes her body has been donated to the Kansas University School of Medicine.

Richard A. (Dick) Woodall was born September 20, 1925 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Lester V. Woodall and Maureen (Concannon) Woodall.&nbsp; He passed Saturday April 03, 2021 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.

He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1943.&nbsp; Like many of his generation Dick served in the United States Army serving in the Army Air Corps.&nbsp; After his honorable discharge, he proceeded with a post-secondary education and met Helen Franklin at Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp; They were married July 20, 1947 in Hutchinson, Kansas. His college education continued at Pittsburg State College graduating in 1951.&nbsp; He later earned a master’s degree in Counseling from Fort Hays University.&nbsp; A career as an educator and Coach in Kansas began in 1951 at Haven and then Paradise, WaKeeney, Wheatland High School, Ness City and Hutchinson Community College.

Throughout his life Dick loved music and especially Barbershop music. He was a member of several Barbershop Quartets and was active in choruses as well for over 70 years.&nbsp; In addition to music, his interests included athletics, especially basketball, golf and lake activities. His favorite times were with family especially 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Following a career in education Dick began a second career in Financial Planning and Life Insurance with Waddell and Reed, Edward D. Jones and Principal Financial Group.

He is survived by: daughter Kathy Dietz (Larry) of WaKeeney, son Joel Woodall (Nanette) of Salina, Kansas, and daughter Marcia Lance (Rick) of Olathe, Kansas; Granddaughters Alisa Odell (Ted) of Prairie Village, Kansas, Nikki Daubert (Ryan) of WaKeeney,&nbsp; Kelli Lance (Brandon Truta) of Overland Park, Kansas; Grandsons Ryan Woodall of Denver, Colorado;&nbsp; Kurt Dietz (Brandy) of Overland Park, Kansas, Bryce Woodall (Ryann) of Salina, Kansas, and Joel Lance (Jessica) of Gardner, Kansas; 17 Great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Spicer (Herb) of Silver Spring, Maryland, Janet Heitmann (Dan) of Hutchinson, Kansas, Karen Foyle (Bob) of Richardson, Texas, and Linda Ging (Bob) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and a special companion, Frances Michaelis of WaKeeney.

A funeral service in honor of Dick’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 12th, 2021, at the WaKeeney United Methodist Church, with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, WaKeeney.&nbsp;

Donald C. Lemen, Jr., 71, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 surrounded and comforted by his family. 

Don was a color guard commander and member of the Washington Chapter of the Kansas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of the Wichita Scottish Rite 32nd degree. He was a member of Harley Owners Group and has enjoyed many rallies and rides on his motorcycle with his wife, son and friends. Other interests were genealogy research, walking for exercise and working in his yard. 

Don’s 40 year career has been in the paper making industry. He began working at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in Hutchinson in 1968. In 1988, he chose to work for Tampella-Sandy Hill in New York for experience in optical alignment. After five years he returned to PCA (Republic Paperboard/Sonoco) as Maintenance Manager. 

Over the years he had worked for JCI, ICM and Cargill. Since 2008 he’s been with the City of Maize, maintenance evolving to GIS technician. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Donald C Lemen Sr, sisters Kathy Hargett and Debbra Bowen.

Survivors: wife of 50 years, Deanna “Dee”; daughter, Tresa Lemen; son, Donald (Kelsey) C Lemen III; brother, Dennis (Deborah) Lemen; grandchild, Alicia Lemen and numerous extended family.

Bryce Andy Matteson, 60, of Haven, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa in Wichita. He was born Aug. 23, 1960 in Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Bruce Andrew and Janice Carol (Combrink) Matteson.

He graduated from Billings High School in Oklahoma with the class of 1978. He later graduated from Northern Oklahoma College in 1980, and University of Oklahoma in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism.&nbsp;

Bryce served in the United States Airforce from 1982 to 1986, with the rank of Airman 1st&nbsp;Class.

Following his service in the Airforce, Bryce led a career in radio and television broadcasting for twelve years, throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. For the last 22 years, he was a financial advisor.

Bryce was a member of the OU Club of Wichita and HopeNet and served on USD 312 School Board and Haven City Council. He was active member of the churches he attended.

Bryce was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, boating and being at the lake. He was also a craftsman and loved woodworking. Bryce was a huge OU fan and loved attending OU football games.

He was united in marriage to Deborah “Debbie” Mundlein on September 4, 1993 at Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his five daughters, Emily Matteson of Lawrence, Amy (Andy) Meyer of Cheney, Brenna (Jeremy) Kocher of South Hutchinson, Ella (Chris) Peters of Cheney, and Kara Matteson of Haven; ten grandchildren, with one on the way; parents, Bruce and Janice Matteson of Billings, Oklahoma; brother, Aaron (Kelly) Matteson of Sublette; sisters, Sally (Rex) Bruce of Sublette, Tammie (Leroy) Givens of Leoti, and Carol Matteson of Haysville; mother and father-in-law, Tom and Shirley (Nye) Mundlein of Kennebec, South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Laura Mundlein and Valerie Mundlein, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and nephew, Trevor Matteson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at CrossPoint Church, 1410 E 30th&nbsp;Avenue, Hutchinson, KS 67502. Marlys A. Marston, 92, of Hillsboro and formerly of Canton died March 27, 2021, at Parkside Homes. She was born Sept. 1, 1928, to Preston and Grace Waln and married William K. Marston July 20, 1950. She was active in the Canton community, United Methodist Church, school system, and 4-H, as well as Master Farmers and Homemakers, National Shorthorn Lassies, and Grange.

Survivors include her children Belinda Hulsey of Isle of Palms, SC; Twig (Mary) of Manhattan, KS.; Barbara (Rick) Dean of LeRoy, IL.; and Shad (Thea) of Canton; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Pauline Greenhaw.

Interment/Burial at Canton Township Cemetery Thursday, April 1, at 10 a.m. with Services to follow at 11 a.m. at the Canton United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Masks are requested.

Wayne Wendleton Windsor, 87, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021 at his home in Haven, Kansas. He was born in Newton, Kansas, Aug. 22, 1933, the oldest son of Kenneth and Mildred (Wendleton) Windsor.

He grew up on a farm west of Peabody, Kansas and graduated from Peabody High School in 1951. He was a graduate of Kansas State University and also received his teaching certificate from Emporia State University.

Wayne married Mary Lackey on Aug. 23, 1958 and began his teaching career at Clifton, Kansas as a science teacher and football coach. After five years in Clifton, he moved to Haven and taught 27 more years. His 1968 track team was undefeated and state champion.&nbsp; He also coached two state champion golf teams.

After retiring from teaching, he and Mary became antique furniture dealers.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Eileen Beavers and husband, John of Chapman, KS.; sons, Brian Windsor of Oklahoma City, OK., and David Windsor of Hutchinson, KS.; daughter, Angela Curran and husband, Kevin of Kansas City, MO.; sister, Nelda Windsor of St. Peters, MO.; brothers, Charles Windsor of Cypress, TX., and Paul Windsor of Wichita, KS.; and grandchildren, Tom and Maggie Curran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Ott Funeral Home, Haven.&nbsp; Burial will follow at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Lyle Franklin Kahmeyer, 83, of Pretty Prairie, died April 2, 2021, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born June 18, 1937, in Nashville, to Leonard F. and Velma E. (Knuth) Kahmeyer.&nbsp;

She survives.Also surviving are: children, Kevin Kahmeyer (Jeri-Lynn) of Tampa Bay, FL, Tracy Shahan (Gerald) of Ada, OK, Scott Kahmeyer of Sapulpa, OK, Penny Allen of Wichita; stepchildren, John Barrett (Shawnda) of Hutchinson, Sharon Christner (Randy) of Hutchinson, Joe Pendergrass (Jo) of Cassoday, Leroy Pendergrass (Sherri) of Hutchinson; 29 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Vicki Goetz of Wichita; and numerous extended family members.He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Craig Kahmeyer; and a brother, Lannis Kahmeyer.Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Hutchinson Friends Church, 1200 E. 14th&nbsp;Ave., Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
