Ebba Jean Nelson, 93, of Marquette, Kansas, passed away at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 while in the company of her family at Riverview Estates.
Ebba was born in McPherson, Kansas on July 7, 1928, daughter of Ralph E. and Nellie M. (Borders) Spohn.
Ebba attended Windom grade school and graduated from Windom High School, Windom Kansas in 1942 at the age of 14. She then attended McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas and Adela Hale Business School, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Ebba enjoyed bowling, KU basketball, KC Royals and Chiefs, an avid basketball fan, loved Marquette High School Sports, quilting, needle work, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.
Ebba was a member of the Marquette American Legion Auxiliary for 60 years and Eastern Star member for 75 years.
Ebba Jean Spohn was united in marriage to Louis Alfred "Blackie" Nelson on Oct. 26, 1952. This union was blessed with the birth of four sons, Barry, Mo, Linn and Kale.
She is survived by her children, Barry Nelson and his wife Carylee, of Marquette, Kansas, Mo Nelson and his wife Gayle, of Marquette, Kansas, Linn Nelson and his wife Lou, of Marquette, Kansas and Kale Nelson and his wife Kelly, of Fort Scott, Kansas.
She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Ebba was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Leo Spohn; her sister Eula Spohn and her grandchildren Sam Nelson, Kyler and Katelyn Nelson.
Memorial service will be held on July 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette, Kansas with Rev. Amy Kay Pavlovich officiating.
