David Lee Bruyr, 66, passed away on August 18, 2021.  At the time of his death, he was a resident at Kidron-Bethel Nursing Home in North Newton, KS. David spent most of his life in Emporia, Hutchinson, Wichita, and Topeka Kansas.  He was a graduate of Emporia High School class of 1973 where he excelled at wrestling and track in high school.  He was also an avid softball player and golf well into his 40’s with multiple sclerosis.  His life centered around K-State Athletics, PT cruiser clubs and car shows.

David was born on 12/10/54 in Parsons, Kansas, the son of Donald Bruyr and Dora Jean (Nevin) Coyan. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Myke Bruyr, sister Belinda McGovern and his beloved dog, Scooter.  He leaves behind his daughter, Kara Bruyr, sister Vicki (Ron) Hufford, sister-in-law Carolyn Bruyr and numerous nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;Mary Lou Petersen, 83, of McPherson, passed away at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 while in the company of family members, at Cedars House. Mary was born on her parents farm rural in Onaga, Kansas on February 1, 1938, a daughter of Simon Eugene and Ellen Margaret (Savago) Bonjour. Mary attended the Onaga Elementary Schools and graduated from Centralia High School, Centralia, Kansas in 1956. Mary was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked at the Warren Hotel, McPherson Sentinel, Dillons Floral and Pharmacy, was a crossing guard for the city of McPherson, and for CK Pharmacy. Mary was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 Auxiliary and the Wendy's Coffee Club. Mary enjoyed kids and did a lot of childcare when she was younger, playing bingo, bowling, listening to music, gardening, playing the lottery and going to the casino. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her the greatest joy. Mary Lou Bonjour was united in marriage to Willard Duane Koehn in 1957. The young couple established their first home together in Moundridge, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of four sons, Mark, Marty, Monty, and Mike. Mary Lou Bonjour Koehn was united in marriage to William David "Bill" Petersen on July 15, 1965 at Evans, Oklahoma. The couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of a daughter Sandy. Bill passed away on April 10, 2010. She is survived by her children, Mark D. Koehn, of McPherson, Monty D. Koehn and his wife Lori, of McPherson, Kansas, Mike D. Shirley worked at Underground Vault and Storage in Hutchinson for thirty-two years and owned and operated Cricket Antiques in Hutchinson. She worked in the Fine Arts building at the State Fair for over thirty-two years. She was a member of Bethany Nazarene Church in Hutchinson and attended the Congregational Church in Little River. She enjoyed spending time with her family; loved going to garage sales; going “junking”; fishing; and enjoyed going to the casino to play slots. On July 11, 1969, Shirley was united in marriage with Kenneth L. “Ken” Byard in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2015. She is also preceded in death by her parents. Shirley is survived by her son, Shad Byard of Lyons; two grandchildren, Cale Byard and Caitlin Johnson; sister, Martha Dole of Hutchinson; niece, Tish Ewing and husband Travis of Gardner, Kansas; many extended family and friends; and her loving dog and companion, Spot. Vaneta G. Schroeder, 91, died Aug. 23, 2021 in Inman.

She was born Nov. 16, 1929, at Hutchinson the daughter of Paul and Alvina Schoor Beck.&nbsp; A longtime resident of the Pretty Prairie community, moving to Inman in 2012, she was a retired Registered Nurse.

Vaneta was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson; the Heart of Kansas Quilters, the EHU; and was active in church activities serving in various capacities.

On Dec. 14, 1951, she married Vernon L. Schroeder at Hutchinson; he died Nov. 11, 2020.&nbsp; Survivors include three daughters and their husbands Gail and Al Renner, Lynn and Alan Wineinger, and Stephanie and Leon Unruh; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by a brother Clyde Beck.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., prior to services Saturday at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie.

Basil Dean Howell, 86, of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at his home.&nbsp; He was born on December 29, 1934, in Texas, the son of Joe and Mary Howell.

He was united in marriage to Alta Marie Moran on August 22, 1959.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on January 28, 2016.

Dean worked oil rigs while in Texas.&nbsp; He worked for Eaton Corporation in Hutchinson until he retired.

He is survived by his four sons, Michael, Alan, Joil and Lee Howell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Lynetta Breeland.&nbsp;

Cremation is planned with Buhler Mortuary handling arrangements.

Billy Lee Parsons, 88, of Inman, Kansas, passed away at 4:08 p.m., Saturday, August 21st, 2021 peacefully, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.

Billy was born in rural Alta Vista, Kansas on December 1, 1932, a son of Iva Bell (Berry) and Pearly Otis Parsons.

Billy attended Alta Vista Elementary School and graduated from Alta Vista High School in Alta Vista, Kansas, he then attended and graduated from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas in 1960.

He was a member of Church of the Nazarene in McPherson.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl in the Korean War.

Billy was a math teacher through the years for Overbrook High School, Overbrook, Kansas, Montezuma High School, Montezuma, Kansas, Paradise High School in Paradise, Kansas, and retired from Natoma High School Natoma, Kansas. After retirement he enjoyed substitute teaching, and when they moved to McPherson, was a para for the McPherson High School.

Billy enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors, attending sporting events, coaching, teaching high school math and loved watching his kids and grandkids playing sports and spending time with his friends and family.

Billy Lee Parsons was united in marriage to Doris Eileen Bradley on December 5, 1953 at Topeka, Kansas. where the young couple established their first home together. This union was blessed with the birth of five children, two sons and three daughters, Tony, Beverly, Jay, Lori and Meredith. Doris passed away on September 13, 2019.

He is survived by his children, Tony Parsons, of Victoria, Kansas, Beverly Parsons, of Inman, Kansas, Jay Parsons and his wife Sharena, of Inman, Kansas, Lori Parsons, of Independence, Missouri and Meredith Roblez and her husband JR, of Overland Park, Kansas.

He is also survived by Grandchildren -2 Anthony Parsons and Camien Parsons

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oren Parsons; a sister, Glennis Furman.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Glidden-Ediger Chapel from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

A funeral Service will be held on August 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 24 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715.

Burial will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at the Alta Vista Cemetery, Alta Vista, Kansas.

Leonard enjoyed many vacations with his family, where memories were made fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking.&nbsp; He and his wife, Vivian, also enjoyed canoeing throughout the United States and Canada.&nbsp; Leonard was an exceptional golfer, and known as a perfectionist when it came to his yard and woodworking.&nbsp; He was a talented woodworker, with a true gift for making beautiful Walnut wood projects.&nbsp; Leonard made over 200 items, all from Walnut wood, for his family, from bedroom sets to living room and dining room furniture to picture frames.&nbsp; Vivian and Leonard were a team with the projects; Leonard’s precise perfection in building and Vivian’s attention to detail in oiling the items once they were completed.&nbsp;

On September 28, 1946, he married Dorothy Ella Hall.&nbsp; She died June 16, 1974.&nbsp; On July 18, 1975, he married Vivian Ann (Warnken) Dawson, in Hutchinson. They shared 46 joyous years of marriage.&nbsp;

Leonard is survived by:&nbsp; wife, Vivian Williams of Hutchinson; children, Deborah Srader (Dennis) of Hutchinson, David Williams of Bartlesville, OK, Randall Williams (Jackie) of Bixby, OK, Frederick Williams (Tammy) of Wichita, Mary Dawson (Carl Weber) of Whitmore Lake, MI, Ann Schrock (Eric) of Edmond, OK, Lillian Dawson of Chicago, IL, and Bruce Dawson (Tolya) of The Woodlands, TX; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He worked at The Cedars as a facility maintenance technician. Rob was born on June 4, 1977, the son of Robert Lynn Van Pelt, Sr. and Carla (Hofflinger) Van Pelt. He attended McPherson High School. On April 30, 2016, Rob was united in marriage to Somer (Priddy) Turley in McPherson. Survivors include: his loving wife, Somer of the home; children, Dylan Van Pelt of Freeman, SD, Sierra Van Pelt of Oskaloosa, Alexia Van Pelt of McPherson, Nadia Turley (Madison Servaes) of McPherson, and Vailyn Turley of McPherson; mother, Carla Van Pelt of McPherson; sisters, Tiffani Van Pelt of McPherson and Nyssa Van Pelt of McPherson; one grandson; and many extended family and friends. Rita Kaye Vogts, 61, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021, at her home surrounded by family. Rita was born on June 29, 1960, to Lyle and Dorothy (Wallace) Hardisty, at St. Johns Hospital in Salina. At the age of one, Rita’s family moved to McPherson where Rita attended grade school, Jr high school and graduated from McPherson High School in 1978. After graduating, Rita met the love her life, Brad, while they were working on the tractor line at Moridge Manufacturing. They were married on January 25, 1980, and of this union were three children, Kimberley, Ryan (deceased), and Lyle Daniel. Rita was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years while her children went through school in Inman. Brad, Kim, and Daniel all had the love of playing ball so there were many summers when Rita was at the ball field 5-6 nights a week. Rita said this is where she got her flat butt from (ha ha). She was always running the kids to their activities and once both children were in school, she worked part-time in the kitchen at Pleasant View Nursing Home and then McPherson Middle School. In 2013, Rita when back to work full time at Moridge Manufacturing as a Machinist in the Machine Shop. She retired after 16 years at the start of the pandemic. Rita enjoyed hosting gatherings and cooking for others. Many friends have learned how to make homemade biscuits and noodles from her, and the daycare kids always enjoyed her homemade sugar cookies that she made for each holiday. Rita enjoyed Christmas time and loved to have her grandchildren over to make gingerbread houses, and she would always have goodies for when they came over. Rita is survived by husband, Brad, of the home, her daughter Kim (Chris), of Moundridge, her son, Dan, of the home, her sisters, Mary Long and Jan Eaves, both of McPherson, sister Sharon (Jerry) Hamilton, of Missouri, sister, Charlene Allenbach, of Moundridge, and many nieces and nephews that loved “Aunt Rita”. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Terry, and daughter Ryan Michelle. Rita has been reunited with her baby girl. She attended Goodland Bible Church, Calvary Gospel Church, Goodland,&nbsp; and New Hope Evangelical Church in McPherson. Twila was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked for White Machine and Motor from 1945-1948, Boothroy Memorial 1948-1960, Goodland Savings and Loan 1960-1975, she also worked various odd jobs throughout her life. Twila enjoyed baking and sewing, she loved her children and grandkids, and great-grandkids. Twila Marie Stephens was united in marrige to William Ernest Bishop on December 20, 1951 at The Gospel Hall, Goodland, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Goodland. They then moved to McPherson in 2007 to be closer to the kids. Bill died on January 1, 2020. She was born in Wichita, on May 20, 1932, to Florence ( Blubaugh) and Everett Owens and raised on the farm north of Mount Hope, Kansas.&nbsp; She graduated from Mount Hope High School and also Fort Hays State University, where she received degrees with a major in home economics and teaching.

On a hot day of July 10, 1955, she married Olin Ted Foraker, Jr. at Bethany Baptist Church in rural Sedgwick.&nbsp; She was a resident of Waverly, Lakin, Almena, Sylvan Grove and Kinsley and resided in Hutchinson since 1978.&nbsp; She taught school in her early years and supported her husband in his school positions as a business teacher in Lakin and Superintendent of schools in Almena, Sylvan Grove and Kinsley.&nbsp; While residing in Hutchinson she worked for Sears photography studio.

Charmaine is preceded in death by her husband, Olin 'Ted' Foraker in 2007; daughter, Avone Marie Arnold; and parents, Florence and Everett Owens.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by sister Gaylene ( Ollie) Isom; and brother Charles ( Joann) Owens.&nbsp;

She is survived by her son, Kreg Foraker of rural Burrton; son, Harlan Foraker and wife Karen of rural Burrton; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Harold Richard “Bud” Stalcup, 94, of Hutchinson, died August 20, 2021, at Waldron Place. He was born September 11, 1926, in Burrton, to Joseph Harold and Lela (Jones) Stalcup.

Bud attended Burrton High School and graduated from Haven High School in 1944. He served for a year in the United States Army in 1945. Bud was a farmer and also did home construction in his early years. He served on the board for Reno County Drainage District No. 2 and Farmer’s Cooperative Elevator in Mount Hope. Bud was also a member of the Haven Lion’s Club and he and Faye were honored as the Reno County Farm Focus Family in 1990. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Burrton.

On April 4, 1947, Bud married Faye Scantlin, at Pleasant Grove Church. They shared 74 years of marriage together on their farm, which they lived on until January 2021.

He is survived by: wife, Faye Stalcup, Hutchinson; daughter, Kathy Geffert (Lynn), Haven; sons, Roger Stalcup, Lawrence, Kevin Stalcup, Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Kyle Geffert (Megan), Haven, Keri English (Jared), Grain Valley, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Kayden Geffert, Haven, Ainsley and Oliver English, Grain Valley, Missouri; sisters, Ruth Schmucker, Buhler, Carol Winkley, Hutchinson, Jane Koontz, Hutchinson.

Harold Richard “Bud” Stalcup, 94, of Hutchinson, died August 20, 2021, at Waldron Place. He was born September 11, 1926, in Burrton, to Joseph Harold and Lela (Jones) Stalcup.Bud attended Burrton High School and graduated from Haven High School in 1944. He served for a year in the United States Army in 1945. Bud was a farmer and also did home construction in his early years. He served on the board for Reno County Drainage District No. 2 and Farmer’s Cooperative Elevator in Mount Hope. Bud was also a member of the Haven Lion’s Club and he and Faye were honored as the Reno County Farm Focus Family in 1990. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Burrton.On April 4, 1947, Bud married Faye Scantlin, at Pleasant Grove Church. Cesar’s life began on January 8, 2004, the son of Cesar Octavio Meda and Abigail (Ramirez Martinez) Lopez-Ramirez in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Annie “Blanche” Lepping, our beloved mother, 79, of Hutchinson, went home to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 21, 2021. She was born April 20, 1942, in Fort Pillow, TN, the daughter of the late Wylie David and Annie Laura Parker Messer. She was one of three sets of twins. She enjoyed and loved her family dearly, playing Yahtzee, Rummy, Dominoes, Sorry, riding roller coasters, traveling and water gun fights with her brother Sterling. Our mom was an Amazing woman, who had the ability to make you feel Loved and Welcomed regardless of who you were. An inspiration to all who knew her, always quick to encourage whether it be a smile, compliment, hug, prayer, a scripture, or a card to let you know you were being thought of. She truly did the small things with Great Love, bringing out the best in everyone she met!

Blanche married William Carroll Lepping on July 14, 1976, in Ripley, TN. Together they founded and pastored the Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Abilene, KS, on August 8, 1987 where they served for 18 wonderful years sharing the Love of God to those in need, prior to his passing on December 26, 2009.

Blanche was a daycare provider in her home for 12 years and a member of the Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Salina, KS. She had lived in Salina since 1975, but due to Parkinson’s, she moved to Hutchinson in 2012 to live with her daughter Lisa and son in law Daryl Fouard.

Survivors include, sons: Marvin (Desiree) Lepping, Shane (Kristen) Lepping, Darrin Hassler, all of Salina, KS, and Craig (Valerie) Bridgewater of Shawnee, OK; daughters: Sharon (Wes) Wernecke, Diane (Ron) Wilcome and Tryma Crist, all of Salina, KS, Mary Schmitt of Bentonville, AR, Lisa (Daryl) Fouard of Hutchinson, KS, Teresa Born of Wichita, KS and Linda (Monte) Waller of Clarksville, TN; daughter in law: Nancy Lepping of Salina, KS; siblings: twin brother, Larry Messer of Eufaula, OK, and Jimmy Messer of Mumford, TN; 45 grandchildren; and 68 great grandchildren.

James Patrick “Jim” Hudson, 64, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away August 19, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. 

He was born October 13, 1956, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of William and Linnereau Cook Hudson. Jim graduated from Salina High School, with the class of 1974. He has resided in Sterling since July 23, 1999, formerly Salina, Kansas. Jim was truck driver for various companies for over forty years, having most recently drove for Saia LTL Freight in Wichita for twelve years and Walmart Trucking in Ottawa, for the past year. He enjoyed electronics; collecting small toy trucks; listening to music on his old stereo; and loved spending time with his family. 

On July 21, 1997, Jim was united in marriage with Marsha Lee Kruse in Salina, Kansas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his daughter, Christy Jones and husband Shannon of Sterling; and three grandchildren, Trae, Trent, and Trevan Jones. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. 

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the Sterling Community Cemetery. The family ask memorials be given to Marsha Hudson (to help offset expenses) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

Melvin Nisly, 93, died August 20, 2021, at his home. He was born January 29, 1928, on the family farm, rural Hutchinson, to Samuel A. and Delilah (Beiler) Nisly.

Melvin was a farmer and stockman and worked in the family butcher shop.  He enjoyed fishing, working in the woodshop, and making miniature furniture.  Melvin’s greatest enjoyment, though, was farming and his grandchildren. 

On October 23, 1949, he married Fannie Yoder, in Hutchinson.  She died September 2018, after sharing almost 69 years of marriage.

Melvin is survived by:  children, Judith Stutzman (Perry) of Hutchinson, Joyce Bontrager (Steve) of Kokomo, IN, Cynthia Miller (Dale) of Plain City, OH, Titus Nisly (Marijane) of Hutchinson, and Janelle Nisly of Evansville, IN; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ellen Nisly of Hutchinson; and three brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; three brothers; five sisters; and two granddaughters.

Charlene Francis Guillot passed away peacefully, into her Savior’s loving arms on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the age of 86. Mrs. Guillot was born on February 25, 1935 the daughter of Charles and Juanita Kay (Morris) Brown. She grew up in Herington, Kansas and married Jesse John Guillot on February 27, 1952 in Abilene, Kansas. They were married for 62 years.

Charlene was devoted to her children, grandchildren and family. She was a homemaker and was later employed by Tony’s Pizza Service until her retirement in 1999. She enjoyed family gatherings and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was famous in the circle of family and friends for her peach cobbler and sweet potato pies. She also loved her collection of ceramic birds and people watching.

She was preceded in death by her 25 month daughter Kathy in 1953, her parents and her husband, Jesse in 2014. Her loving family includes her son, David Guillot (Rachel) of Salina, Kansas; daughters, Vickie Guillot and Olivia Price (Keith) all of Salina, Kansas, DeeAnn Spencer (Charles) of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Charles Brown (Diane) of Los Angeles, California, Carl Brown (Delores) and Dennis Brown (Dariel), Curtis Brown, all of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Juanita Rodriquez of Los Angeles, California, Patricia Crenshaw of Atlanta, Georgia, Vernessa Alexander of Seattle, Washington; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hillsboro - Clark Wiebe, 79, passed away August 19, 2021 at Bethesda Home in Goessel. 

He was born August 12, 1942 in Hillsboro to Herbert and Hildred (Schroeder) Wiebe. He married Anna Marie Toews August 19, 1962 in Hillsboro. Hillsboro - Clark Wiebe, 79, passed away August 19, 2021 at Bethesda Home in Goessel. He was born August 12, 1942 in Hillsboro to Herbert and Hildred (Schroeder) Wiebe. He married Anna Marie Toews August 19, 1962 in Hillsboro. Survivors include: wife, Anna Marie Wiebe of North Newton; son Layne (Karen) Wiebe of Lenexa, Kansas; daughter, Janelle (Troy) Weeks of Middleton, Idaho; sister, Clariece Schroeder of Hillsboro; 5 grandchildren. He was born February 28, 1919 in Hillsboro to Jacob and Anna (Willems) Wiens. He married Mary Wall August 20, 1942 in Mountain Lake, MN. 

Survivors include: daughter, Sandra Wiens and husband Robert Harms of Guilford, CT; sister, Luella Stauffer of Pipestone, MN. Predeceased by his wife, Mary Wiens in 2007 and sister, Leona Schultz. 

Celebration of Life 12:00 Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall. Family will have a private Committal service at Hillsboro M.B. Church cemetery. Ben J. Wiens of Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, Kansas died on August 19, 2021, at the age of 102. He is survived by his daughter Sandra of Guilford, Connecticut and her husband Robert Harms, and by his sister Luella Stauffer of Mountain Lake, Minnesota. He was a lifelong educator, having taught at Tabor College, Rutgers University, Moravian College, and Penn State University, and he was active in various church and service projects during his retirement in Hillsboro.

Born in Hillsboro, Kansas, on February 28, 1919, while his father was attending Tabor College, he grew up on a dairy farm in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. His earliest memories were seeing his father taking the horse and buggy to the rural school where he was teaching. His mother took care of the dairy farm and chickens during the day. His duties at home included milking the cows and delivering milk to some twenty-five customers. He was baptized at the age of 12 and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in Mountain Lake, embarking on a lifelong commitment to scripture and Christlike living. He attended German school for the first five grades and then was transferred to the public schools, graduating from high school in 1938.

After high school graduation, he went to Mankato State Teachers College in Manketo, Minnesota for a two-year teaching certificate. This qualified him for a rural school position, which he taught for two years. He married Mary Wall of Mountain Lake, Minnesota in 1942. Their daughter Sandra was born in 1951. After marriage, he returned to Mankato State University to finish his degree program with majors in Industrial Arts and Social Studies. After supervising student teachers for three years in the Mankato State University Laboratory School, he went to Stout State University in Wisconsin for his master’s degree in Educational Psychology, and he later earned a doctorate in education at Colorado State University in Greeley.

He joined the faculty of Tabor College as chairman of the Education Department in 1949, where he got Tabor’s application for teacher certification approved in 1958 and served as the Registrar and then the Dean of the college. After a stint of teaching at Rutgers University in New Jersey, he became chairman of the education program at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He then became a supervisor of Penn State University’s continuing education program for eastern Pennsylvania.

After his retirement in 1982, he and Mary moved back to Hillsboro, where his membership in the Hillsboro M. B. Church provided an opportunity to be the chair of the church council, as well as for Sunday School teaching. He became the executive director of the Kansas Paraguay Partners organization for seven years, making two trips to Mennonite settlements in Paraguay, and he directed a major project to restore all eighty panels of the stained-glass windows in the Tabor College auditorium. Throughout his retirement years, he remained a prolific reader and a constant learner.

Charles Louis Miskimen, Jr., 90, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home.&nbsp; He was born August 3, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Charles Louis Sr. and Hilda E. (Anderson) Miskimen.

Charles served in the United States Army in the Korean War from 1952 – 1954, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He owned and operated his own business, Chuck’s Electric, in Cedar Rapids, IA, working as a Master Electrician.&nbsp; Charles later sold insurance for Farmers Elevator Mutual Insurance Company, later known as Farmland Insurance Company, for 20 years.&nbsp; Following this, Charles started Heritage House Floral and Gift Shop in McPherson, KS, until 1998.

Charles was a charter member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids, where he helped start and build.&nbsp; He would often lead the music and singing in the church, while Norma played the organ or piano. He later joined the Church of the Nazarene in McPherson.&nbsp; Most recently, Charles has been a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Newton.&nbsp; He was also a member of the American Legion in Newton.

He and his family enjoyed watching the planes land and take off at the local airport.&nbsp; Charles pursued and obtained his pilot’s license, eventually purchasing his own private plane so the family could continue to enjoy this hobby together.

He was united in marriage to Norma Price on October 6, 1956.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on March 1, 1993.&nbsp; Charles later married Dona (Price) Paulsen on June 5, 1993.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Dona Miskimen; daughters, Jeannine (Tom) Emmons of Wentzville, MO, and Beth (Lee) VanHyfte of Palo, IA; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Norma Miskimen; three brothers and two sisters.
