Allen Dean Thiessen, 91, died October 24, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born September 5, 1930, in Reno County, to Henry B. and Katherine (Schierling) Thiessen.
Allen attended Inman High School and Hutchinson Community Junior College. He retired from Kansas Gas Service, after 33 years of service. Allen was a former trustee at First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, and currently was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On April 8, 1951, he married Sophie Gaeddert, at Buhler Hebron Mennonite Church. She died May 19, 1994, after sharing 43 years of marriage. On October 18, 1997, he married LaVaughn (Young) Theede.
Allen is survived by: his wife of 24 years, LaVaughn Thiessen of Hutchinson; daughters, Kristine Seck (Richard) of Hutchinson, Keri Thiessen of Dyer, IN, and Jenifer Wolff (Brett); granddaughter, Sophie Ana Wolff, all of Oswego, IL; stepsons, Steve Theede (Kay) of Houston, TX, Roger Theede (Cathy) of Nickerson, and Mitch Theede (Jay) of Columbia, MO; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Timothy Ray Thiessen; and a brother, Edward Thiessen.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, at Hebron Cemetery, rural Buhler, with the Reverend Michael Tomson-DeGreeff officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
