Charlotte Rae Swonger |1925-2021|

Pratt - Charlotte Rae Swonger, 96, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at Leisure Homestead in Stafford. She was born on September 9, 1925 in Dodge City to Newton Ray and Clara Harriet (Case) Pride. Charlotte married Rex Leon Swonger on January 25, 1946 in Sawyer. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2007.

Charlotte graduated from Sawyer High School in 1944. She taught 4th grade at Sawyer Elementary School for 7 years and then taught 4th Grade at Skyline Elementary School for 26 years. She was a member of Reach Church, Sweet Adelines and Apple Patch Quilters. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, quilting, singing, collecting antiques and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue (John) Meuten of Wichita; son, Brett (Susan) Swonger of Pratt; grandchildren, Jeremiah McCutchen of Pratt, Rosa (Gary) Valentine of Warsaw, Missouri, Dustin Meuten of Wichita, Brandon (Angela) Meuten of Wichita, Marti (Tyler) Applegate of Chanute, Chelsea (Kendall) Snyder of Wichita and Jesse Swonger of Wichita; 12 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband, Rex Leon Swonger; parents; sisters, Norma Wargo and Carol Dauner; and brothers, Laurel "Casey" Pride and Jimmy Pride.

Visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Reach Church, Pratt with Pastor Bryan Beittel presiding. Burial will follow at Ellenwood Cemetery, Sawyer.
