Evelyn Dyck, 93, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Moundridge Manor.&nbsp; She was born May 18, 1929, the daughter of John C. and Eva (Koehn) Koehn.

She was a member of the Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Hesston.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Roy R. Dyck on July 31, 1949.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on November 13, 2014.

She is survived by her son, Leroy (Dawn) Dyck of Hesston; daughters, Martha (Dwight) Dyck of Moundridge, and Joyce (LaVern) Schmidt of Greensboro, AL; twelve grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; four sisters; and three great-grandchildren.

Jay Steven Smith was born on May 18, 1965, in Fostoria, Ohio. He passed away on August 15, 2022. He was living in Toledo, Ohio, for the past couple months, to focus on his health. Jay was the director of the South Dakota Historical Society and Museum, until November of 2021. He spent 30 plus years preserving history. His crowning achievement was laying the groundwork for founding the only salt mine and museum in the United States accessible to tourists in Hutchinson. He grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio, a city he loved his entire life. Jay graduated in 1983, from Bowling Green High School. Jay attended The University of Cincinnati on a cross country scholarship, furthering his education at Bowling Green State University, where he earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts degree. He also attended the University of Cincinnati on a cross country scholarship. He held an internship at the Rutherford B. Hayes Center and Fort Meigs State Memorial. Jay spent most of his college school years working at Paglai's and Myles Pizza in Bowling Green. Jay is survived by his mother, Linda Connolly; step-father, William Connolly; brother, Jed "TJ" (Kristen) Smith; step-sister, Erin (John) Garbarino; step-brother, Devin (Erin) Connolly; nephews, Ronan, Sean, Aiden; and niece, Julia. Koster, Albert John “A.J.”, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on August 24, 2022. A.J., as everyone knew him, grew up in Beloit, Kansas and attended St. John’s Catholic School where he excelled in sports, especially track. One of his greatest honors was giving the commencement address for the 1986 St. John’s graduating class. After college at Wichita State and Emporia State, A.J. devoted his life to the children of Valley Center for 34 years as a teacher and elementary principal. Everyone knew “Mr. Koster” and always waved when they saw him driving down the street in his tan 1964 Chevy pickup.

As a classroom teacher, A.J. joined KNEA and the local chapter of that teacher’s association where he was a member of the negotiation team for many years. When he became an elementary principal, he was a member of KAESP, the state’s association.

His faith was central in A.J.’s life and at his parish of St. Jude he was a Lector for many years, often not needing a microphone because of his booming voice. He had been a CCD teacher for high school students, finding he loved helping older students just as much as his younger elementary ones. Upon his retirement, he found great satisfaction helping others at the Food Pantry. He was also a member of the St. John’s Knights of Columbus at his home parish in Beloit, Kansas.

Throughout his life, AJ was most happy when around family, his “kids” at school, and being outdoors, whether he was putting up hay, cutting wood, or driving his tractor.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Barb; siblings, Jeanne(Jerry) Sommerfeld of Hesston, Ks., Joanne(Don) Brown of Simpson, Ks., and Harry(Linda) Koster of Shawnee, Ks and a brother-in-law who was always “his brother” Brian(Nina) Schmitz of Beloit, Ks. A.J. and Barb were blessed with 17 nieces and nephews and loved being a part of their lives. Great-nieces and nephews have followed and likewise hold a special place in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Margie Jo(DeBey) Koster and a sister,  Janelle(Marty) Hansen.

Rosary will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Wichita, Kansas followed by visitation at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2022 also at St. Jude Catholic Church. The funeral service will be live streamed and viewed on the parish website, stjudewichita.org. Graveside will be held at the St. John’s Cemetery in Beloit, Kansas at 3:00 PM on September 1, 2022 with visitation at 3:30 PM at the Beloit Knights of Columbus Hall.

Jane Skehan, 86, died on August 25, 2022 in Fort Worth,
Texas. She worked in education for over 30 years, retiring from Hutchinson
Community College in 1998 as the Academic Advisor for Evening Students after
serving in a variety of other roles at HCC through the years.

She was born on July 8, 1936 in Haviland, Kansas, to Frank
Raymond and Katherine Jane (Woodward) Rinkel. After growing up in Haviland, she
earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, in 1958. Jane taught in Hugoton, from 1958-1963, with a one-year
leave of absence to earn her Master of Arts degree from New Mexico Highlands
University (1961). She lived in Hutchinson from 1963 to 2020, when she moved to
Texas to be near her daughters.

On August 22, 1957, Jane married Wendell H. Morgan. They had
two children, Louise and Melissa.&nbsp; They
were divorced in 1983.&nbsp; On January 1,
1997, she married Eugene M. Grier in Partridge. He died on November 28,
1998.&nbsp; Jane married Robert Skehan on July
28, 2001, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Robert died on January 14, 2003.

Jane stayed very active in her community and with her
church. She previously was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and
volunteered her time with the Offender/Victim Ministries Board.&nbsp; She was a member of the National Academic
Advising Association, the NEA, K-NEA, Hutchinson Faculty Association,
Hutchinson Area Retired School Personnel, KARSP,&nbsp; and Delta Kappa Gamma.&nbsp; A member of Partridge Community Church since
1997, she has served on the Board of Deacons, as Moderator of the Church, as a
representative to church conferences, and on conference committees.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husbands,
Eugene Grier and Robert Skehan.

Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands:
Louise and Robert Ruszkowski (Keller, TX) and Melissa Morgan and David Saul
(Fort Worth, TX); three grandchildren (Erin and Alex Ruszkowski, Nathan Saul);
Grier stepchildren (Dixon, Ann, John, Rachel, and families); Skehan stepchildren
(Robert C., Thomas, Cynthia, Deborah, and families); three sisters: Eunice
Proctor (Pratt), Barbara Simons (Manhattan), and Beverly Keller
(Wichita Falls, TX); and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held
later this fall at Partridge Community Church.

He had participated in events for Children's Miracle Network. He enjoyed dancing, singing, playing, riding his bike, play fighting, going to church, painting and playing with transformers. She was born in Wichita, Kansas to Homer and Zola May (Cochenour) Walker.&nbsp; She attended Wichita schools and was a graduate of North High School.&nbsp; On Febuary 1, 1960 in Wichita, Kansas she married the love of her life Bobby Dale Rowell.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bobby, sister-in-laws Betty Cave and Wanda Martin. &nbsp;

She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, and friend.&nbsp; Mildred loved doing yardwork and gardening. Another great love was of animals including her kitty cats, dogs, rabbits and parrot 'Mira'.&nbsp; Her favorite times were spent with her family.

Mildred is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laurenda and Rodney Miller; grandson Kenneth Miller and great granddaughter Elizabeth Miller; other family and friends.

Mary was a lifelong Lyons resident. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1957. Mary worked at OTASCO Store and JcPenny’s both in Lyons. In 1974, Stu and Mary opened Wilder’s Upholstery Shop, in Lyons, which they operated until their retirement in 2020. She was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons. Mary enjoyed creating stain glass and making jewelry. In 1957, Mary was united in marriage with Lesley Stewart “Stu” Wilder in Lyons. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2022. 

She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Bryant W. Wilder; and two sisters, Lupe Valdez and Annie Cadena. Mary is survived by her four sons, William “ Bill Wilder (Stacey) of Lyons, David Wilder (Carrie) of Lyons; Bruce Wilder (Annie) of McPherson, and Christopher “Chris” Wilder (Linda) of Pell City, AL; daughter, Bettina “Tina” Kloxin (Rick) of Lyons; daughter-in-law, Cindy Wilder, widow of Bryant Wilder; brother, Bernie Limones of Lyons; sister, Josie Smith of Lyons; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Rosella J. Patenaude, 93, passed away August 24, 2022 at Hillsboro Community Hospital. She was born July 27, 1929 Rural Dover, Minnesota to Roy Palmer and Lady Alice (Rollman) Carpenter. She married Robert J. Patenaude August 11, 1950 in York, Nebraska. 

Survivors include: son, Robert Patenaude Jr. of Ridgecrest, California; daughters, Phyllis (Ed) Richert of Hillsboro, Annette (Dennis) Klamm of Hillsboro; brother, Paul (Fay) Carpenter of Mississippi; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by: husband, Robert Patenaude in 2002; great-grandson, Joey Luce; sisters, Ruth Ubben, Juanita Hahn.

Rosella J. Patenaude, 93, passed away August 24, 2022 at Hillsboro Community Hospital. She was born July 27, 1929 Rural Dover, Minnesota to Roy Palmer and Lady Alice (Rollman) Carpenter. She married Robert J. Patenaude August 11, 1950 in York, Nebraska. Survivors include: son, Robert Patenaude Jr. of Ridgecrest, California; daughters, Phyllis (Ed) Richert of Hillsboro, Annette (Dennis) Klamm of Hillsboro; brother, Paul (Fay) Carpenter of Mississippi; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Victoria Befort, 100, passed away August 20, 2022, at her home in Great Bend. She was born on a farm near Pfeifer, on September 20, 1921, to Joseph and Margaret (Urban) Breit. 

The family moved to a farm near Loretto, before she started her elementary school education. She married Tony Befort on March 5, 1946 and the couple moved to Great Bend and became lifelong residents.

 Survivors include her son, Leland; daughter, Rhonda; son-in-law, Gary; grandson, Taylor (Katie) and great grand daughter, Ellie. Victoria was preceded in death by her husband Tony. 

She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church for over 75 years. In her later years, she loved to have lunch with her friends at the Great Bend Senior Center, and then spend the afternoon playing cards and laughing a lot. For over a century, she shared with everyone the love and joy that filled her heart. 

Funeral services are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Bunny L. Willis, 80, passed away Monday,
August 22, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Manor in South Hutchinson. 
 
Bunny was born June 25, 1942 in Hutchinson, the daughter Oliver C. and
Edith (Sandburg) Pohlman.&nbsp; On April 8,
1959, Bunny married Fred A. Willis in Hutchinson.&nbsp; &nbsp;He
precedes her in death.&nbsp; Bunny worked for
Eaton Corporation and retired after 31 years.&nbsp;
She later went on to help in her daughters at home daycare for over 10
years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; siblings, Rosemary
Willis and Delmer Pohlman; a daughter, Donna Wilson and a grandson, Jason
Willis.

Bunny is survived by her two children, Denise A. Willis and Dan (Laura) Willis;
four grandchildren, Sunshine (Kevin) George, Dezarae Willis, Kylie Hartman and
Ashlee Olsem; eight great grandchildren, Uriah Gilley, Jaedyn Douglas, Lily and
Elijah Chapman, Mason and Tahia Hartman, Adrian and Kaylee Willis; and one
great-great grandchild, Ez’ra Gilley.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Memorial

Bunny L. Willis  |1942-2022|  

Bette Jean (Franz) Rhine 78, of Hesston, died August 22, 2022 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.

Bette was born October 24, 1943 In Newton, the daughter of Walter and Olga (Woelk) Franz. She attended first Mennonite Church in Newton. Upon her confession of faith, she was baptized and became a member at 14 years of age.

She graduated from newton high school in 1961 and then attended bethel college for one year. She then worked for American Coach Co. in Newton.

She married Roger Ratzlaff in 1964 and to this union two sons were born, David and Eric Ratzlaff. They lived in Hesston, and when her sons were small a number of young mothers from the community formed a group called “mothers night out”( mno), meeting once a month. They have continued to meet for over 50 years and still meet once a week and play cards. Bette was an active member of that group until her death. She also served as secretary of the Kansas MCC Relief Sale for many years.

She married Knox Rhine in 1990. While they were living in Everett, Wa., she worked for Reid Middleton. They moved back to Newton, Ks in 2002, and Bette began working in the Harvey County Clerks Office until her retirement in 2011. She continued working part time as the election clerk overseeing the election process until she became ill. In her retirement, she was also a volunteer at newton medical center and victory in the valley. She served on the Newton Medical Center Community Assn. Board for many years. She was a member of faith Mennonite Church and served on the fellowship committee there for several years.

Bette was an avid bridge player and continued to play even after moving to Schowalter Villa Care Facility. She enjoyed playing cards of any kind and would play whenever her health would allow. She also loved all holidays and decorated her house, yard and anything else that didn’t move, for every season and holiday. Her decorations were lavish and beautiful! She made wonderful peppernuts and holiday cookies and candy which she generously shared with her family and friends. Her Zweiback were the best! She also loved flowers and at the first sign of spring pots of flowers appeared, and as the season progressed her front porch and back patio were covered with beautiful plants of all varieties. All in all, Bette just loved life and lived it to the fullest each and every day!

She is survived by her two sons, Eric (Kori) Ratzlaff of Kansas City, Mo, and David (Cami) Ratzlaff of Milwaukee, Oregon, one brother, Kenneth (Loretta) Franz Of Newton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jon And Gale Stevens Of Maryland, brother-in-Law Bobby Rhine Of Colorado, and two nephews kent and Jay Franz. Her grandchildren are Krissa Pulliam, Raphaela Ratzlaff, and Benett Ratzlaff. Great grandchildren, Cecilia and Julian. Also many great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Bette was a loyal and true friend who leaves numerous long time friends to mourn her passing, including her life long friend Becky Jo (Miller) Crupper. They met when they were neighbors at 4 years of age and have remained best friends ever since.

She was preceded in death by her husband Knox Rhine in 2013, and her parents.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a committal service at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, at 1:00 p.m. On September 10, 2022.

A memorial service will be held following the committal service at 2:00 pm, September 10, 2022 at Faith Mennonite Church, 2100 n. Anderson Ave., Newton.

Herman “Dee” Gilbert, 93, died on August 22, 2022, at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

He was born June 19, 1929, in El Reno, Oklahoma, the son of James and Mary (Matchett) Gilbert.

At the age of 21, Dee was enlisted in the United States Army where he quickly earned the ranking of corporal. He was honorably discharged from his duty in September of 1953.

On June 26, 1962, Dee was united in marriage to Betty Shaft. The couple were married for 54 years at the time of Betty’s passing in 2016. Dee and Betty lived in El Dorado until they made the move to Newton in 1982.

For over 30 years Dee worked as a pipe fitter for local union 171 out of Wichita, Kansas, retiring in 1996.

Dee was a member of the Elk Lodge, Optimists, American Legion and the First Presbyterian Church in Newton.

Dee, affectionately known as “Charlie” by Betty, could often be found spending time with his fur babies Blossom, Rosebud and Samantha, or caring for the birds that would visit his yard. He enjoyed looking at and admiring different designs and architecture. Dee’s favorite thing of all was time spent traveling, his favorite trips being those that he and Betty would take to Nevada. He also enjoyed spending spring breaks going to concerts and riding around town in his MG convertible with his great nephew Ryan Steele.

Dee is survived by his niece, Michelle Steele of Stillwater, Oklahoma; nephews, Chris Gilbert of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Norman Gilbert of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Mark Shaft of Kansas City, Missouri, and Steve Shaft of Prairie Village; great-nephew, Ryan Steele and wife Kristel, and their two children, Savannah and Sawyer Steele; loving friends, Sue Ice, David and Lori Yoder, their children and grandchildren, and best friend Frank Adame and family; and many other dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gilbert; parents, James and Mary Gilbert; brothers, James and Melvin Gilbert; and sisters, Mildred Forbes and Lillian Greenway.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., in Newton. Lunch and fellowship at Charlie’s will follow the memorial service. Inurnment will take place the morning of the service at 9:30 a.m. at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood Falls.

Chastain in Texas.&nbsp; &nbsp;He precedes her in death.&nbsp; Julia graduated from Paris High School, Paris, Texas and graduated from Quincy University, Quincy, IL, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.&nbsp; She worked for Phillips Theological Seminary as an executive secretary.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benny; and one sister, Hilda Kay Bridges. Julia is survived by her two children, Michael (Janet) Chastain and Vicki (Dan) David; two grandchildren, Robert Christopher (Carly) Chastain and Moriah R. (Jake) Bremer; four great grandchildren, Brody Bremer, Ely Uthe, Abbie Bremer and Lane Bremer; and one brother, Joe (Shirley) Bridges.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dennis graduated from Carrier High School, Carrier, OK, and Enid Business College.&nbsp; He retired after 40 years of service as an accountant with Lindburg and Vogel.&nbsp; Dennis enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants, and golfing.&nbsp; In addition, he was a sports enthusiast.&nbsp; Dennis enjoyed watching and following Hutchinson Community College sports teams, as well as the Kansas City Royals, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, and Oklahoma University. He attended First Southern Baptist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

On September 28, 1957, he married Artelia Earlene Hollar, in Douglas, OK.&nbsp;

Dennis is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of almost 65 years, Earlene of Hutchinson; sons, Terry Porter (Debi) of Shawnee, Randy Porter (Charlene) of Hutchinson, and Lonnie Porter (Kristi) of Burleson, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Porter, Jesse Porter, Levi Porter, and Lexi Porter; sister, Deanna Weed (Gary) of Enid, OK; and sister-in-law, Celia Madden of Stillwater, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Darrell Porter.

George Robert Rogers went to his heavenly home on August 13, 2022, in the Marion, hospital.

George was born in Herington, on November 11, 1927 to James Albert Rogers and Violet Ethel Mason.&nbsp; He graduated from Herington High School.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army.

He married Dorothy Jane Davenport in El Dorado, Kansas, on December 11, 1947 and they were married for 65 years until her passing in 2013.

In the early 60’s George and some others kept the church league baseball program going in Herington, and at the end of the season, the players were taken to KC to watch Kansas City play the Yankees.&nbsp; He umpired a lot of ballgames, to include the church league, girls teams, and American Legion.&nbsp;&nbsp;

George loved to give blood.&nbsp; He was disappointed he wasn’t able to give his 100th&nbsp;pint.&nbsp; He had a rare blood type and one time was called off his postal route to give blood for someone.&nbsp; He worked a short while for Beech Aircraft and then worked for the Post Office about 30 years and estimated that he walked the equivalent of 1 ½ times around the world delivering the mail in Herington.

George loved to give a dollar to little kids when he would see them as it brought him great joy.

He attended Rock Island Church in Herington for many years.&nbsp;

He liked living at the Hilltop.&nbsp; He played pool, worked puzzles, and talked to everyone getting on and off the elevator.&nbsp; He recently moved to Marian Assisted Living and was happy in his short time there.

George is survived by four children:&nbsp; Mike Rogers (Pat) Kerrville, TX; Linda Troop (Judson) Lawton, OK; Dean Rogers, Tucson, AZ, and Kent Rogers, Herington; four grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and brother Jack Rogers, Wichita.

Preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; a brother, James Rogers; a sister, Alberta (Berky) Smith; and great grandson Caulen Hendon.

A private family celebration of his life was held at the Herington cemetery on August&nbsp; 14, 2022.

George Robert Rogers went to his heavenly home on August 13, 2022, in the Marion, hospital.George was born in Herington, on November 11, 1927 to James Albert Rogers and Violet Ethel Mason.&nbsp; He graduated from Herington High School.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army.He married Dorothy Jane Davenport in El Dorado, Kansas, on December 11, 1947 and they were married for 65 years until her passing in 2013.In the early 60’s George and some others kept the church league baseball program going in Herington, and at the end of the season, the players were taken to KC to watch Kansas City play the Yankees.&nbsp; He umpired a lot of ballgames, to include the church league, girls teams, and American Legion.&nbsp;&nbsp;George loved to give blood.&nbsp; He was disappointed he wasn’t able to give his 100th&nbsp;pint.&nbsp; He had a rare blood type and one time was called off his postal route to give blood for someone.&nbsp; He worked a short while for Beech Aircraft and then worked for the Post Office about 30 years and estimated that he walked the equivalent of 1 ½ times around the world delivering the mail in Herington.George loved to give a dollar to little kids when he would see them as it brought him great joy.He attended Rock Island Church in Herington for many years.&nbsp;He liked living at the Hilltop.&nbsp; He played pool, worked puzzles, and talked to everyone getting on and off the elevator.&nbsp; He recently moved to Marian Assisted Living and was happy in his short time there.George is survived by four children:&nbsp; Mike Rogers (Pat) Kerrville, TX; Linda Troop (Judson) Lawton, OK; Dean Rogers, Tucson, AZ, and Kent Rogers, Herington; four grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and brother Jack Rogers, Wichita.Preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; a brother, James Rogers; a sister, Alberta (Berky) Smith; and great grandson Caulen Hendon.A private family celebration of his life was held at the Herington cemetery on August&nbsp; 14, 2022.

Kay was born September 16,1947 the oldest of eight children born to parents James and Ravie McMahan. Kay attended school in Wichita and Maize and graduated from Maize High school in 1965. 

Kay married her husband Clifford Johnson on January 5, 1965. They fostered over 30 children and adopted 4 siblings ages 5 through 17. Kay worked many jobs throughout the years from teaching preschool to taking care of the elderly. Before moving to the nursing home she lived 5 years in the Tampa, area where she was cared for by her sister Connie McMahan and Blue Stem Pace of McPherson. She was an avid reader and collected angel figurines. She also had a memorable smile.&nbsp;

Kay was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Johnson, father James McMahan, mother Ravie McMahan, brothers Melvin McMahan and Bailey McMahan.

Kay is survived by her children Rose Robbins (H.L.), Connie Johnson Muniz, Pam Burchfiel (Mark), and Roy Johnson (Kimberley), siblings Connie McMahan, Zelda Saranko (John), Velda Conard, Jay McMahan (Kathy) and Oma Detwiler (Don), 10 grandchildren: Logan, Kendra, Landon, Shandra, James, Jonathan, Eric, Elon, Keyalna and Josh, 6 great grandchildren: Sophea, Ivie, Remy, Stella and Cayden, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

in Miami, OK.&nbsp; He died on June 8, 2004.

and Terry Knowles; eight grandchildren, Melinda Cusick, Kevin (Millie) Casey,

Marilyn Sue (Prouty) VanRossun, age 84, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her home in Paramount Community Living and Rehab of Newton. She was born August 12, 1938 in Newton, and was one of eight children blessed to the late Wilbur and Wilhelmina (Weigand) Prouty of Hesston.

Marilyn was married to the love of her life Clifferd Clayton VanRossun. &nbsp;They were blessed with six children: Jennifer VanRossun Coleman of Newton, Clint VanRossun (Isabel) of Crossville, TN, Ky VanRossun of Newton, Shane VanRossun of Hutchinson, and Juli VanRossun Holler of Wichita. Clifferd and Marilyn made their home and raised their family in Moundridge, where they lived almost the entirety of their 44 years of married life. Marilyn was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, and daughter Jill VanRossun Street.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Marilyn loved the Lord and was a long time member of the Methodist Church in Moundridge.

Marilyn grew up on the Prouty homestead in rural Hesston which had been in the Prouty family for over 100 years. She enjoyed the country life and helping out with the daily chores of life on the farm. Her brothers and sisters Robert “Bob” Prouty, Jean Prouty Friesen, Elizabeth “Liz” Prouty Schierling, Theodore “Ted” Prouty, Carol Prouty Rostetter, and Mary Prouty Ballard have all preceded her in death. She is survived by her youngest sibling and sister Donna Prouty Tatro of McPherson, KS.

Marilyn loved being a homemaker, taking care of her family, she enjoyed cooking and baking, family gatherings for just a meal together, or for a birthday or holiday celebration, flower gardening, reading her Bible, and taking care of the animals. She also enjoyed helping run the family trucking business for many years before Clifferd passed away. Blessed as a mother and grandmother she is survived by her five living children, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three grandchildren and Marilyn is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Roger Henry Morris, 86, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away August 20, 2021, at Sunrise of Lenexa, Lenexa, Kansas. He was born May 21, 1936, in McPherson, the son of Cyril H. and Dorothy Mae Mills Morris. 

Roger has resided in Shawnee since 1981, formerly of Little River. He graduated from Little River High School with the class of 1955. Roger worked as an engineering technician in the Federal Service retiring after 32 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961, and in the active reserves during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1969. Roger attended the First United Methodist Church growing up as young adult in Little River and was a member of the American Legion Post #0001, Topeka. 

On April 12, 1971, Roger was united in marriage with Dorothy Agnes Bircher in Shawnee. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2020. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and son, Roger Lamont Morris. Roger is survived by his two daughters, Sherry Lynn Hill and husband Michael of Wasilla, AK, and Stashia Annette Morris of Blue Springs, MO; stepdaughter, Debra Tillinghast and husband John of Clifton; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 6 step-great-grandchildren. 

Graveside service will be held at a later date at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River.

Kenneth Keith “Kenny” King Jr., of Nickerson, died August 21, 2022, at his home. He was born November 7, 1951, in Norfolk, VA, to Kenneth K. and Carroll E. (Alexander) King Sr.

Kenny graduated from Nickerson High School in 1969. He served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1974. Kenny was a machinist at Cessna/Eaton for 41 years, retiring as Supervisor of Quality Control. He was baptized in the First Christian Church of Nickerson at the age of 12. Kenny enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, collecting John Wayne and Elvis Presley memorabilia, and doing genealogical research.

On November 26, 1984, he married Donna (Gardner) Payne. She died February 19, 2012.

Brenda did work outside the home, but her most treasured occupation was being a homemaker.&nbsp; Family was important, especially the children and grandchildren.&nbsp; She thoroughly loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt.

On June 5, 1976, Brenda married Ronald ‘Ron’ Thomas Russell.&nbsp; They shared over 46 years of marriage.

She is survived by: her husband, Ron Russell of South Hutchinson; Todd Russell and wife Deborah of Davenport, IA, and Cindy Teater and husband Thomas of South Hutchinson; grandchildren, Cody Teater, Ashley Teater, and Grant Russell; brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet Sue Winters, 81, died August 19, 2022, at her home. She was born February 15, 1941, in Pratt, to Robert and Cleo (Shives) Hammond.

Janet graduated from Coats High School in 1959, and Pratt Community College in 1961. She was a homemaker. Janet was a member of Bethany Church of the Nazarene.

On June 18, 1961, she married Kenneth Edward Winters in Coats. They shared 61 years together.

She is survived by: her husband, Kenneth Winters, Hutchinson; daughter, Deanna Underwood, Esbon; sons, Larry Winters (Terri), Spring Hill, Mike Winters (Jamie), McKinney, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Don Hammond; and son-in-law, Roger Underwood.

Timothy David Voth, 56, of Buhler, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022.&nbsp; He was born December 24, 1965 in Hutchinson, to Leslie and Shirley June Voth.&nbsp; 

He graduated from Buhler High School in 1984.&nbsp; He worked most recently at Pfizer Inc. in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; Tim was a caring son, brother, uncle and brother-in-law.&nbsp;

Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley June Voth.&nbsp; He is survived by his father, Leslie Voth in Texas; sister and husband, Janelle and Ken Hennes in Texas; and nephew, Andrew Hennes, who currently attends college in Cambridge, MA.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 with family present from 6 to 8 pm at Buhler Mortuary.&nbsp; Burial at the Buhler Municipal Cemetery will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 9:00 am.&nbsp; Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Buhler Mennonite Church.&nbsp; Lunch will follow the service.&nbsp;

Peggy B. Winter, 93, passed away Friday,
August 19, 2022, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River. 
 
Peggy was born December 29, 1928 in Garden City, the daughter of Paul and
Myrtle (Ford) Hartley.&nbsp; On March 3, 1947,
Peggy married Frederick H. Ferris in Cimarron.&nbsp;
&nbsp;He precedes her in death.&nbsp; On October 2, 1979, Peggy married Raymond
Winter in Garden City.&nbsp; He precedes her
in death.&nbsp; &nbsp;Peggy was a nurse aide at St. Catherine’s
Hospital in Garden City.&nbsp; She was a
gardener and loved her flowers and plants.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frederick Ferris and
Raymond Winter; a son, Alan Curtis Ferris, two brothers; one sister; and one
grandson.

Peggy is survived by her two children, Ronald (Nancy) Ferris and Linda Setters;
and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2022, at Valley
View Cemetery, Garden City.&nbsp;&nbsp;

accident outside of Buhler.&nbsp; He was born
September 26, 1984, in Wichita, the son of Dan and Sharon Healy Rutherford. 
On June 9, 2018, he married Katie Shain in Leon. 
&nbsp; 
Tim worked as an assembler for Black and Decker, Hesston, was a member of
Knights of Columbus, enjoyed playing softball, loved sports, especially the
Dallas Cowboys, and his favorite thing was playing with his son Easton.&nbsp; He was the most kind, caring person who would
have given the shirt off his back for anyone.&nbsp;
He did not know a stranger.&nbsp; He
was truly loved by everyone who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; his son, Easton
Rutherford, of the home; &nbsp;his parents,
Goddard; siblings, Beth Walton, Edmond, OK, Natalie (Tom) Roller, Goddard,
Kelly (Mike) Burleson, North Carolina, John (Neysa) Rutherford, Wichita, and
Joe Rutherford Goddard; mother and father in law, Robert and Janice Shain,
sibling in laws, Chris (Nikki) Shain, Cody (Jessica) Shain, and Kari (Darrin)
Banning, all of Buhler; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by baby Rutherford and
grandparents.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday,
August 26, 2022, at Inman Funeral Home, with the family present from 5-6.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM
Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Buhler MB Church, with burial to follow at Buhler
East Cemetery. The funeral service will
