Kenneth Fredrick Larkin, 82, of Medicine Lodge, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 5, 1940 in Wichita, to Fred and Irene (Szabo) Larkin. They lived at Deerhead until 1949, then moved to Lake City and then to Medicine Lodge in 1963. He met Frances Kahmeyer on a blind date and married her a year later on September 21, 1963.
Kenny worked in the oil field as a contract oil pumper his whole adult life, and also taught his sons and one grandson this same occupation. Everyone in the family remembers how he would take Andy and Zachary with him pumping before 4th of July and they would come back covered in dirt.
He was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time fishing with his family. He didn’t know a stranger. Kenny enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities and life endeavors.
Kenny was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he never missed a Saturday or Sunday service.
Surviving are his daughter, Cynthia (Kevin) Regier of Great Bend; a son, Chris (Tricia) Larkin and daughter-in-law, Debra Larkin of Medicine Lodge; Seven Grandchildren, Andy Larkin, Kayla (Mark) Coley, Breanna Larkin, Jacob Regier, Emilie Regier, Zachary (Savannah) Larkin, and Avery Larkin; Four Great-grandchildren, Jemma, Bentley, Ace, and Lainey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances, his son, Dennis, his sister, Carole and brother-in-law, John
Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104. Visitation will also be available on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
Rosary service will be on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge, KS at 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS.
