Tom Ray Beck was born on October 07, 1956, in Newton. He is the son of Harold Leroy and Verna “Audene” (Haworth) Beck. Tom graduated from Remington High School in 1974. He then joined the United States Air Force. Tom worked for Mid Kansas Cooperative and was the Whitewater Location Manager. Tom married Vickie on August 21, 1999.

Tom was a member of the Whitewater American Legion. He loved watching football, especially when the K-State Wildcats or the Kansas City Chiefs were playing. He was also a supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. In his free time, Tom loved to go camping, whitewater rafting, and skiing.

Tom, at the age of 66, passed away on November 15, 2022, at his home in Whitewater. He is preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Audene, and brother Charles “Chuck” Beck. He is survived by his son, Cory Beck; sister, Margaret Calvert; nieces, Caroline Beck, and Suzanne Beck.

Funeral service for Tom will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. Burial to follow at the Whitewater Cemetery. Services will be led by Pastor Jason Lowery.&nbsp;

Dan’s life began on July 6, 1927, in Herington.&nbsp; He was the son of Melvin C. and Elizabeth M. (Downing) Clore. 

Dan was a graduate of Herington High School and attended Kansas University.&nbsp; He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947.&nbsp; He was on a transport ship heading to Japan when the atomic bombs were dropped, and his ship turned around and he headed to Korea. After the service, Dan worked as a civilian firefighter at Fort Riley and then as a Crew Chief and Fire Chief of Herington for many years. Dan was united in marriage to his wife Barbara on June 6, 1971, in Herington. &nbsp;He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Herington.&nbsp; Dan was an avid Kansas City Chief’s fan and loved the Jayhawks.&nbsp; He was an excellent craftsman with wood and masonry.&nbsp; He would build anything from homes to boats, the last one completed at age 93.&nbsp; He was a 29-year member of the American Legion Post 12 in Herington. &nbsp;

He is survived by his children Roger (Rhonda) Clore of Park City, Sherri Williams of El Dorado, Debbie (Scott) Ginter of Hope Summit, MO, Caroline (Jerry Schlesener) McIntosh of Herington;18 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and his brother Byron (CeCe) Clore of Andover.&nbsp; Dan passed away at his home on Tuesday November 15, 2022.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, and daughter Colleen DeTomaso, stepdaughters Sherri Applebaugh and Brenda Hester, and great granddaughter Sydnie Norton.&nbsp;

Jacqueline Dell Montelongo, 50, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022. She was born in Wichita, Kansas to James Daniel Hoffine and Jerri (Brink) Hoffine. She was a lifelong resident of the Valley Center Community where she attended school, was a 1990 Valley Center High School graduate and was involved in many activities. After graduation she received her Nursing Degree from Kansas Newman in 1996.&nbsp;On September 2, 2000, she married the love of her life, Josue Montelongo. They remained in the Valley Center area where they raised their family. As ENC Director of Nursing for many facilities, one facility was given the award as best in Kansas. She enjoyed her time traveling to nursing homes all over the State of Kansas to help with improvement of their care. Jacqueline is survived by her husband of 22 years, Josue Montelongo; son Dakota Hoffine; daughter Sarah Montelongo; her mother Jerri Hoffine and&nbsp;sister Jonna Hoffine; many other family and friends.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her father Jim Hoffine. Dwayne was born on August 22, 1943, and in a few days adopted by his beloved parents, Herbert and Anna Claassen, in Hillsboro. He grew up on the farm one-and-a-half miles from the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church and schoolhouse, attending that schoolhouse through the eighth grade. He then went to Hillsboro High School and two years at Tabor College. Literature was his favorite college class.

As a child, one day as he and his dad drove in the garage, he told his dad that he wanted to be saved, so there with his dad he gave his life to Christ. He was baptized at the age of twelve.

Among activities that Dwayne enjoyed were water skiing, working on race car number 87 at 81 Speedway, flying his private airplanes, and driving semi-truck coast to coast. Most recently, in the mornings he enjoyed having coffee with friends at Wendy's. In the afternoons, he loved driving around the country checking fields and crops.

Dwayne married Diane Janzen in 1966. Together they had three children—Larry Royce in 1970, Russell Dwayne in 1972 and Lori Ann in 1975. A joy in his life was seeing Lori marry Robert Quicke who together gave him two grandchildren, Elliot Michael and Sophie Grace, and seeing Russ marry Chandelle Boger who together gave him two grandsons, Samuel Dwayne and Dellen Russell.

A major event in his life was meeting his birth mother when he was fifty years old, and spending time with her monthly during the last seven years of her life.

The prelude today was by one of Dwayne's favorite singers, Jimmy Fortune. Permission to use his album was requested and received. He also seldom missed the Saturday evening Gaither program on TV. The Statler Brothers were also a favorite. He listened to a daily end-times hour on his computer.

He was predeceased by his infant son, Larry Royce, his parents Herb and Anna, a sister-in-law Mary Lou Nickel, and a brother-in-law Roger Janzen.

Dwayne will be missed by his family and friends. The family thanks you for being here today.

On May 26, 1946 he married Lora “Jackie” Jacques at Hutchinson.&nbsp; She died on July 5, 2019.&nbsp; He is survived by Son: Michael (Phyllis) Farney of Pratt. Grandsons: &nbsp;David (Robyn) Farney and Christopher (Michele) Farney. Great-grandchildren: Cameron, Lyla and Molly.

Candy Lynn Kelley, 71, of Lyons, passed away November 15, 2022, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born July 27, 1951, in Sterling, the daughter of Marvin Elliott and Virginia Detwiler Cain. 

Candy attended Sterling High School. She has resided in Lyons since 2004, formerly of Sterling. Candy was a waitress at the Sterling Café for many years; worked in the cafeteria for Sterling USD #376; was a dental assistant for Douglas Hinshaw in Sterling; and was a caretaker for her late sister, Dinah Sue Lyon. 

Candy enjoyed working outdoors, feeding, and watching the birds and squirrels. She liked playing cards, annual “sister” parties; and most of all spending time with her family. 

On April 16, 2004, Candy was united in marriage with Bill Kelley in Sterling. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2011. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin Cain; and sister, Dinah Sue Lyon. 

Candy is survived by her two daughters, Lisa McKinnis and husband Tim of Lyons, Janet Heter and Justin Anthony of McPherson; three brothers, Frank Cain and wife Annette of Sterling, Dan Cain and wife Sondra of Hutchinson, and Dennis Cain and wife Julie of NC; four sisters, Gwen Walker of Sterling, KS, Betty Bateman and husband Chuck of South Hutchinson, KS, Judy Rose and husband Dale of Sterling, KS, and Deena Groth of Sterling; sister-in-law, Mary Jayne Cain of Sterling, KS; five grandchildren, Ariel Engelland of Prairie Village, Trae Anthony of McPherson, Breanna Money of Galva, Alexis and Aiden Smith both of McPherson; three great-grandchildren, Liam and Jack Blake both of Galva, and Elizabeth Anthony of McPherson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry loved to draw and was quite the artist. He could always be found making music, playing the guitar and drums. He played in a band around Kansas, but would frequently serenade his friends and family, guitar in hand, bringing a smile to everyone around him. Jerry always lived life to the fullest. He loved mechanics, fast cars and making music. He was able to take some of those talents and turn them into a career, as he was an accomplished machinist.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jerry is preceded in death by his father, John Wells; brother, Michael Wells and nephew, Timothy Whittier. He is survived by his mother, Gloria Wells; 5 brothers; 4 sisters and his son, Jacob Wells.&nbsp;

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, involving Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Church. Jerry is, as he was in life, truly unforgettable and will be greatly missed.

Robert “Bob” Eugene Harris, 85, passed away peacefully November 12, 2022 at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born April 27, 1937 in Great Bend, to John Francis Harris and Thelma Mae (Foreman) Harris.

Bob was a 1955 graduate of Great Bend High School.&nbsp; He attended Kansas State University for two years where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. &nbsp; He then transferred to Fort Hays State University where he majored in Biology graduating&nbsp;in 1959.&nbsp; Bob began his teaching career in Stafford, where he taught General Science and coached football, basketball, and track in the junior high school for three years.&nbsp; From 1961 to 1967, he taught science and coached at Marie L. Hare Intermediate School in Garden Grove, CA.&nbsp; From 1968 to 1981, Bob taught Biology, Zoology, and coached football and swimming at Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; In 1980, he began working as an insurance agent for Ozark National Life &amp; N.I.S. Financial Services.&nbsp; He retired in 2020 at the age of 83.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.&nbsp; In his many years at Eastwood, he taught Bible classes, led singing, served communion, and was head of the missionary program.&nbsp; He was frequently found talking to others about Christ whom he loved beyond measure.&nbsp; He definitely epitomized a life of servitude.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf.&nbsp; Bob was an avid sports fan who followed the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas State University Wildcats, and the University of Kansas Jayhawks.

On October 31, 1958, he married the love of his life, Sandra Kay Cooper, in Great Bend.&nbsp; They shared over 64 years of marriage, 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Sandra of Hutchinson; children, Dan (Mitzi) Harris of Flower Mound, TX, Kim (Joe) Horsch of Goddard, and Shelly (Darren) Watson of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Josh Hoefler, Jordan (Vanessa Jones) Hoefler, Chloe Harris, Kylie (fiancé, Zach Norton) Horsch, Jake (Makala) Horsch, Madison Harris, Logan Watson, Sean Harris, and Lucas Watson; great-grandchildren, Kannon Hoefler, Kyler Hoefler, and Kolby Grace Hoefler; and siblings, Roger (Magda) Harris and Rita (Keith) Morgan, all of Abilene, TX.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Harris.

Douglas Frederick Prideaux&nbsp; “Doug”, age 57, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at home surrounded by his loved ones.&nbsp; He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Charles Duane Prideaux and Lola Ann (Maynor) Prideaux. He was raised in the Valley Center / Wichita areas where he attended school. He was a Valley Center graduate where he enjoyed music, being a part of Mr. D’s musicals, sports and so much more. He had his own band for a time, and cheered on his teams … the Raiders, Spurs, White Sox and Shockers. Doug went on to Wichita State and earned his Bachelor Degree in Social Work. His heart was in helping others. He worked as a Case Manager for many years with SRS Family Services and then and IL Specialist at the Resource Center.&nbsp; While there he met the love of his life Kim Brown whom he married and treasured. Had many friends to enjoy sports and music with, attended many concerts with his wife and friends. He was proud of his 10+ years of sobriety.&nbsp; His greatest love that he and Kim had were “their kids” – cats Jiggy, Tinker and Scooby.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his mom Lola Prideaux &nbsp;(Oct. 15, 2015), his dad Charles Duane Prideaux (Oct. 1, 2022), his father-in-law Jim Brown (Jul. 26, 2021), brothers-in-law Michael Brond (Oct 14, 2022) and Steven Brond (Oct. 19, 2008).&nbsp;

Doug is survived by his lovely wife Kimberly Prideaux, brother Gregory (Lisa) Prideaux, sister Kimberly Warren, niece Kayla (John) Pyles (great niece Lily), nephew Cody (Kara) Potter, niece Danielle (Joe) Kraft (great niece Kenzy &amp; great nephew Devin), &nbsp;mother-in-law Carol Brown, sister-in-law Barbara Brond, niece Jamie (Jacob) Rzewnicki &amp; nephew Caleb Brond, sister-in-law Denise Brond and nephews Caden Brond &amp; Colton Brond, many other relatives and friends.

Vernice Lucille Brubaker, 91, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 12:41 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022 in McPherson.

Vernice was born in Seattle, Washington on August 31, 1931, a daughter of Myrtle (Mohler) and Victor Wilhelm. Vernice attended LaVerne College, LaVerne, California where she received her teaching degree. She was a member of Monitor Community Church of the Brethren in McPherson. Vernice was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for several years Vernice was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Leader, Bible Study Leader, and a counselor at Camp LaVerne. She loved being a mom, grandma, and great-grandma "GG", enjoyed camping with her family, singing and playing the piano. Vernice L. Wilhelm was united in marriage to Dwayne LaVerne Brubaker on June 11, 1950 in LaVerne, California. The young couple established their first home together in Los Angeles, California. They were blessed with three children, two daughters and one son, Cheryl, Dale, and Karen. In 1953 they moved their family to Downey, Califorina. In 1964 the family moved to LaMirada, California. In 1990 Vernice and Dwayne moved to McPherson, Kansas to be closer to family. Dwayne passed away on August 9, 2014. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Anne Tschudin and her husband Bob, of McPherson; Dale Edward Brubaker and his wife Sara, of Fort Collins, Colorado and Karen Elaine Linn and her husband Jerry, of McPherson; her sister Victoria Rose, of San Bernardino, California. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Casey, Joshua, Bethany, Samuel, Shanna, Nate, Jacob, Tyler, Bryce and Caleb. 12 great-grandchildren, Amarel, Runa, Jase, Riley, Avery, Lyle, Wendell, Niko, Amy, Judah and Bri. Frank Chester Fruit, 76, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022. He was born on January 3, 1946 in Pratt to Chester Thomas and Edna (Fast) Fruit. Frank married Sandra (Shelton) Fruit on June 30, 1972. They were married for 50 years. Frank graduated from Haviland High School in 1964 and from Pratt Junior College with his associates degree in 1966. He took over his family farm in partnership with his mother while completing high school after his father passed away. He enjoyed farming, model trains and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Fruit of Haviland; son, John (Sara) Shutts Fruit of Joliet, IL; daughter, Traci (Nicholas) Allen of Pratt; brother, Dan Fruit of Emporia; sister, Ruth Fowler of Emporia; and four grandchildren, Julia Shutts Fruit, David Shutts Fruit, Sydney Allen, and Rose Allen. Frank is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjory Fowler. Cremation has taken place. Rubie Lee Edwards Gamble, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior November 13, 2022 in Newton.

Rubie was born June 24, 1929 in Gould, Arkansas to James Sanders and Jimmie Barnett. Rubie was raised in Arkansas along with nine siblings- George Wade, Milton Walton, Alazetta, James, Pearly, Lamorris, Eloise, Inez, and Hearsie.

Rubie came to know the Lord at the age of fourteen. She was baptized into the First Missionary Baptist Church in the river in Gould Arkansas by Rev. C.L. Washington on August 5th 1943.

Rubie loved her church and once she settled in Newton, she became a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church of Newton. As a member of Second Baptist she took part in all of the church activities: Mission, choir, bake sales, Bible study, and prayer meeting. You could always count on Rubie to be there to offer help.

Upon moving to Kansas she met and married Arbey Sylvester Edwards and together the couple had five children- Sylvia, Arbey, Carl, Floyd, and Anthony. She had one other son who was lost during childbirth. Rubie was known as mother and grandmother to all those seeking wisdom, love, or a completely honest opinion. Rubie was always available. She was a strong woman, a woman of grit. Whenever questioned about the challenges of life she would always say, “Just turn it over to the Lord, he’ll take care of it.”

Rubie was a natural gardener, known for her green thumb. She could make anything that grew truly blossom. She thrived in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. All of her grandchildren enjoyed spending time with grandma because she made them all feel welcome, accepted and loved.

Growing up on a farm she learned the skills necessary to be an outstanding homemaker. She was known for preparing some of the finest meals. Whether it was the main entree or the finishing dessert, you would be blessed to have enjoyed her cooking.

Rubie is survived by her husband Roosevelt Gamble, two sons: Carl and Floyd Edwards and his wife Nancy, sister Inez, brother Hearsie, grandchildren: Micheal Rhoades, Anthony Edwards, LaTricia Bayes, Floyd Edwards, Carl Edwards, Josh Edwards, Preston Edwards, Luke Edwards, Elijah Edwards, and Nancy MayLee Edwards, 29 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Loretta Sue Franz died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the age of 82.

Loretta was born on October 18, 1940, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Joe and Ruby Eck. Loretta Sue, along with her twin sister, Joetta Lou, were raised on a farm between Meno and Goltry, Oklahoma. Her dad was a custom harvester. While in Goltry High School, the twins played basketball, were salutatorians of their senior class, and were involved in many music events together. The family attended Zoar Mennonite Church in Goltry where Loretta was baptized in 1954, by Rev. J.W. Bergen.

After graduating from Goltry High School in 1958, Loretta and Joetta attended Bethel College in North Newton. She received an associates of art degree in business. They both played basketball and volleyball during the two years they were at Bethel. The twins then worked for two years at Hesston Corporation together.

It was at Bethel College that Loretta met Kenneth Franz and they were married on June 4, 1961, by Rev. Arnold Epp at First Mennonite Church, Newton, where she transferred her membership. To this marriage was born Kent Wayne on October 11, 1962, and Jay Douglas on November 10, 1966

When Kent was two years old, Loretta began to teach 2 to 4 year olds Sunday School class songs and Bible stories at First Mennonite Church. She enjoyed teaching for 33 years. Music was very important in her life. While growing up, she sang trios together with Joetta and their Mom. The twins are probably singing those songs with their Mom now.

Loretta’s hobbies included keeping her yard and flower gardens beautiful. Her huge tomato plants that she planted every year kept the neighbors supplied. She also enjoyed her many years as Sales Coordinator at Premier Building Products and Shipping Clerk at Sims Enterprises. She loved watching the Kansas City Royals and Wichita State basketball games on television.

Loretta has said that her two children were her most wonderful blessings in life. She enjoyed attending all the sporting events that her sons, Kent and Jay, participated in through high school – football, basketball, and tennis and going on to college games where Kent and Jay played basketball. She especially enjoyed attending the many events that her grandchildren participated in – softball, volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: Kent of Chadler, OK, and Jay and wife Monica of Wichita: granddaughters, Shelbey and husband Bart Estes, Blakeley and husband Randon Gregory, Cecilia and husband Jordan Friedel, Oliva and husband Carlos Burbach, and grandson Keelan and wife Megan Franz; four great grandsons and two great granddaughters; brother-in-law Paul Penner; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Joe and Roby Eck, Inman; and on July 8, 2010, she lost her twin sister, Joetta, to cancer.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 18th, 2022, at Grace Community Church in Newton. A visitation will be the evening prior from 5:00 – 9:-00 PM, Thursday, November 17th&nbsp;at Petersen Funeral Home. A private graveside will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.

Loretta Sue Franz died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the age of 82.Loretta was born on October 18, 1940, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Joe and Ruby Eck. Loretta Sue, along with her twin sister, Joetta Lou, were raised on a farm between Meno and Goltry, Oklahoma. Her dad was a custom harvester. While in Goltry High School, the twins played basketball, were salutatorians of their senior class, and were involved in many music events together. The family attended Zoar Mennonite Church in Goltry where Loretta was baptized in 1954, by Rev. J.W. Bergen.After graduating from Goltry High School in 1958, Loretta and Joetta attended Bethel College in North Newton. She received an associates of art degree in business. They both played basketball and volleyball during the two years they were at Bethel. The twins then worked for two years at Hesston Corporation together.It was at Bethel College that Loretta met Kenneth Franz and they were married on June 4, 1961, by Rev. Arnold Epp at First Mennonite Church, Newton, where she transferred her membership. To this marriage was born Kent Wayne on October 11, 1962, and Jay Douglas on November 10, 1966When Kent was two years old, Loretta began to teach 2 to 4 year olds Sunday School class songs and Bible stories at First Mennonite Church. She enjoyed teaching for 33 years. Music was very important in her life. While growing up, she sang trios together with Joetta and their Mom. The twins are probably singing those songs with their Mom now.Loretta’s hobbies included keeping her yard and flower gardens beautiful. Her huge tomato plants that she planted every year kept the neighbors supplied. She also enjoyed her many years as Sales Coordinator at Premier Building Products and Shipping Clerk at Sims Enterprises. She loved watching the Kansas City Royals and Wichita State basketball games on television.Loretta has said that her two children were her most wonderful blessings in life. She enjoyed attending all the sporting events that her sons, Kent and Jay, participated in through high school – football, basketball, and tennis and going on to college games where Kent and Jay played basketball. She especially enjoyed attending the many events that her grandchildren participated in – softball, volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: Kent of Chadler, OK, and Jay and wife Monica of Wichita: granddaughters, Shelbey and husband Bart Estes, Blakeley and husband Randon Gregory, Cecilia and husband Jordan Friedel, Oliva and husband Carlos Burbach, and grandson Keelan and wife Megan Franz; four great grandsons and two great granddaughters; brother-in-law Paul Penner; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Joe and Roby Eck, Inman; and on July 8, 2010, she lost her twin sister, Joetta, to cancer.A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 18th, 2022, at Grace Community Church in Newton. A visitation will be the evening prior from 5:00 – 9:-00 PM, Thursday, November 17th&nbsp;at Petersen Funeral Home. Lee Irvin White, 92, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2022, at The Cedars, McPherson.&nbsp; He was born on January 4, 1930, the son of Walter and Dorothy White.&nbsp; Lee joined the Army on April 21, 1950, and honorably served in the Korean War.

After completing basic training, Lee attended the AT&amp;T Radio School at Fort Mammoth, New Jersey, and taught electronics to other service members until he was discharged.&nbsp; Once discharged, he went back to school to study TV repair.&nbsp; He had a TV/radio repair shop in Newton, KS prior to working for Green’s Appliance as a TV/radio technician in McPherson for many years.&nbsp; He then went to work for NCRA and later successfully operated the family business, White’s TV &amp; Communications for over 60 years.&nbsp;

Lee was united in marriage to Margaret J. Seiler on January 1, 1954, in Halstead.&nbsp; They were blessed with a son, Shawn, and enjoyed 64 years of marriage, until her passing on January 15, 2018.&nbsp;

Lee was a member of the American Legion Post #24 and was an amateur radio enthusiast.

He is survived by his son, Shawn White and wife, Stacey, of McPherson; two grandkids; three great-grandkids; and a sister-in-law, Lamerlas White.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers, John White and Wallace White.

She and her late husband Kenneth O. Kelly were married June 26, 1948 and relocated to Lyons in the summer of 1960 with their young family. She is survived by her daughters, Liz Miller, resident of Arizona, Annie Brayton, resident of Kansas and Kathy and Leland Reinert residents of Colorado. Her son Ken Roe Kelly preceded her in death. She has 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. 

She and Kenneth were long time members of the local Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star organizations. 

There is a private viewing on November 18th at Bunker Family Funeral Home in Mesa Arizona. Please join us Friday, December 2nd at 10:30am in Lyons, for her celebration of life at Birzer Funeral Home.

Curtiss Richard “Mr. B” Belisle, 82, of McPherson passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Pine Village of Moundridge.  Curtiss was born May 7, 1940 on the family farm, in rural Brewster, to the late Otis Joe and the late Marie Suzan (Richard) Belisle.  He was baptized at and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, KS in his youth. He married Deanne Polson on November 3, 1962.  

Curtiss graduated from Derby High School.  He attended both Fort Hays State University and Louisiana State University studying business administration and general arts. Curtiss worked for fifteen years at Boeing in Houston, TX dealing with procurement and facilities operations. He and his wife Deanne were the owner and operator of two restaurants for the remainder of his working life.  They were Tum Thum Restaurant in Cherokee, AL and Mrs. B’s Family Restaurant in McPherson, KS.  He was even known as Mr. B to many of his friends.  

He is survived by his grandchildren. Jessica Anderson (Jesse) of Canton, and Andrew Belisle of AL; sisters: Loretta Gross and Linda Mellenbruch; brothers: Bob Belisle (Randy) and Jerry Belisle (Kim); daughter-in-law: Linda Belisle; as well as great-grandchildren: Emma, Jude, and Jonah Anderson.

Curtiss is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Deanne; daughter: Christy Belisle; sons: Brad Belisle and Todd Belisle; and sisters: Emily Gatz and Ramona Chambers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg.

Moundridge, the daughter of Freeman and Della Koehn.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Galva High School.&nbsp; She had worked for Heartland Vet as a
receptionist for many years.&nbsp; Linda was a
member of Journey Mennonite Church, McPherson and loved spending time with her
dogs and enjoyed her flowers.

On March 21, 1975, she married Lynel Friesen in McPherson.&nbsp; He survives.

Additional survivors include her children, Leah (Curtis)
Morgan, Buhler, and Linden (Rebecca) Friesen, Parkville, MO; grandchildren,
Matthew and Andrew Morgan, both of Buhler and Nora and Ivar Friesen, both of
Parkville, MO; and siblings, Judy Koehn, Center, CO, Donna Unruh and Dwight

David Glenn Waters, 79, passed away November 9th, 2022 at The Arbors Memory Care in Hutchinson. He was born January 1st, 1943 in Polk County Missouri to Albert and Saletha (McIntyre) Waters.&nbsp;

On March 14th, 1964 David married the love of his life, Rosalie Wyatt. They shared 59 years together.

David is survived by his wife, Rosalie, brothers, Johnny Waters, Ralph Waters, sister, Darlene Geer, son, Michael Waters (Jackie), daughter, Sarah White (Jeff), 4 grandchildren, Katherine Chacon (Paul), Dustin White (Kaitlyn), Rebecca Howell (Alex), Samantha Borrowman (Levi), 5 great grandchildren, Jacob, Cole, Natalie, Brody, Bailey as well as Baby Howell, due in April. Terry was a 1989 graduate of Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; On September 23, 2006 he married Heather Williams in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Terry worked for the Peels family as a warehouse supervisor.&nbsp; He enjoyed classic cars, motorcycles and renaissance.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia.

Terry is survived by his father, Ralph; wife, Heather; two step-children, Ravyn Lutes and Krysta Crank-Lutes; and four grandchildren, Sophia, Sativa, Isaiah, and Viola. &nbsp; There will be no public visitation as cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A Celebration of Terry’s life will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Hutchinson Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille A. ‘Lucy’ Henry, 91, of Hutchinson passed away peacefully, November 13, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born June 24, 1931, in Moundridge, to Jacob and Mary (Goering) Kaufman.

Lucy graduated from Moundridge High School, Moundridge, and Bethel College, North Newton, with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Lucy displayed her passion for music by teaching grade school music. Lucy was artistic and a good cook. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. Lucy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On July 19, 1959, she married Arthur F. Henry Jr. in North Newton. They shared 63 years of marriage before her passing.

Lucy is survived by: husband, Art Henry Jr., Hutchinson; daughter, Krystal Krehbiel (Brad), Buhler; granddaughters, Kourtney Lane (Daniel), Hutchinson, Kacey Jost (Zach), Buhler; great-grandson, Kameron Henry Lane, Hutchinson; one sister, Carol Ratzlaff (Johnny), Newton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Kevin Henry; and ten siblings.

Lucille A. ‘Lucy’ Henry  |1931-2022|  

Our Mother, Hildegard Agnes Krieger Thiessen, lived a long and full life. She passed from this life on November 12, 2022 just one day shy of her 94th birthday. On Saturday she took her last earthly breath and on Sunday she celebrated her birthday in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Hildegard was born to Leonard and Agatha Krieger on November 13, 1928. They lived on a farm outside of Cordell, OK, enduring the very difficult days of the Dust bowl. Hildegard was the eldest of four children which included her brothers Edgar and Norbert, and her sister Nelda. Education was important to Hildegard and her parents. After completing grade school at the MK &amp; T Grade School, she was able to continue her high school education at Corn Bible Academy in Corn, OK. Because this was a twenty mile drive from her home, Hildegard was able to board with several different families in town during her high school years. At home on the weekends and during her summer breaks, Hildegard was able to do the mowing at the local cemetery which she enjoyed. This job enabled her earn enough money to buy fabric which she sewed into the clothing she needed for school.

After graduating from Corn Bible Academy in 1947, Hildegard was given the opportunity to continue her education at Tabor College. This was a privilege that not many of her peers were offered or even desired, but she relished. She graduated from Tabor College in 1951. Her education allowed her opportunities to work in different business ventures throughout her adult life.

In January of 1951,while working in the Tabor bookstore, Hildegard met a young man who came to buy a textbook which he couldn’t afford. Although Wilmer Thiessen didn’t get that book, he got something much more precious, a lifelong relationship with his future wife. After Tabor, their relationship continued across the miles via correspondence from Hillsboro to Denver, CO where Wilmer was working. In January of 1954 he traveled to Hillsboro and surprised Hildegard with his unexpected visit and a proposal, which she accepted. They were married at the Bessie Mennonite Brethren Church outside of Cordell, OK on June 6, 1954.

Their life together took them from Hillsboro, to Denver, to Henderson, NE and back to Denver. Together they formed many long-term friendships through church and work. They lived a happy life in Denver and Littleton, Colorado for the next 20 years. During this time they added to their family. Charlene was born in 1955 (during their time living in Henderson, NE), Lynette joined the family in 1958, Shaun in 1961 and Vonda in 1965.

After 20 years in the Denver and Littleton area, Wilmer was offered a job at the Mennonite Brethren Missions Office in Hillsboro, Kansas. They moved the family in June 1974. During the next 40-some years Hildegard was again able to work Tabor College in the Business Office, and just before she retired she ran The Bookstore on Main Street which brought her much fulfillment.

In September of 2018, Wilmer and Hildegard made the decision to move to Wichita, KS to be closer to their children because of Hildegard’s diagnosis of dementia. They enjoyed two years together in their new home at Kansas Masonic Home. After caring for his bride of 66 years, Wilmer passed away on December 19, 2020. Hildegard continued residing at KMH until her death.

Hildegard is preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer; her parents, Leonard and Agatha Krieger; and her brother Edgar.

She is survived by her children, Charlene (Fred DeLoera) Thiessen, Lynette (Dwight) Roth, Shaun (Karen) Thiessen, and Vonda (Duane) Kinser. Our Mother, Hildegard Agnes Krieger Thiessen, lived a long and full life. She passed from this life on November 12, 2022 just one day shy of her 94th birthday. On Saturday she took her last earthly breath and on Sunday she celebrated her birthday in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!Hildegard was born to Leonard and Agatha Krieger on November 13, 1928. They lived on a farm outside of Cordell, OK, enduring the very difficult days of the Dust bowl. Hildegard was the eldest of four children which included her brothers Edgar and Norbert, and her sister Nelda. Education was important to Hildegard and her parents. After completing grade school at the MK &amp; T Grade School, she was able to continue her high school education at Corn Bible Academy in Corn, OK. Because this was a twenty mile drive from her home, Hildegard was able to board with several different families in town during her high school years. At home on the weekends and during her summer breaks, Hildegard was able to do the mowing at the local cemetery which she enjoyed. This job enabled her earn enough money to buy fabric which she sewed into the clothing she needed for school.After graduating from Corn Bible Academy in 1947, Hildegard was given the opportunity to continue her education at Tabor College. This was a privilege that not many of her peers were offered or even desired, but she relished. She graduated from Tabor College in 1951. Her education allowed her opportunities to work in different business ventures throughout her adult life.In January of 1951,while working in the Tabor bookstore, Hildegard met a young man who came to buy a textbook which he couldn’t afford. Although Wilmer Thiessen didn’t get that book, he got something much more precious, a lifelong relationship with his future wife. After Tabor, their relationship continued across the miles via correspondence from Hillsboro to Denver, CO where Wilmer was working. In January of 1954 he traveled to Hillsboro and surprised Hildegard with his unexpected visit and a proposal, which she accepted. They were married at the Bessie Mennonite Brethren Church outside of Cordell, OK on June 6, 1954.Their life together took them from Hillsboro, to Denver, to Henderson, NE and back to Denver. Together they formed many long-term friendships through church and work. They lived a happy life in Denver and Littleton, Colorado for the next 20 years. During this time they added to their family. Charlene was born in 1955 (during their time living in Henderson, NE), Lynette joined the family in 1958, Shaun in 1961 and Vonda in 1965.After 20 years in the Denver and Littleton area, Wilmer was offered a job at the Mennonite Brethren Missions Office in Hillsboro, Kansas. They moved the family in June 1974. During the next 40-some years Hildegard was again able to work Tabor College in the Business Office, and just before she retired she ran The Bookstore on Main Street which brought her much fulfillment.In September of 2018, Wilmer and Hildegard made the decision to move to Wichita, KS to be closer to their children because of Hildegard’s diagnosis of dementia. They enjoyed two years together in their new home at Kansas Masonic Home. After caring for his bride of 66 years, Wilmer passed away on December 19, 2020. Hildegard continued residing at KMH until her death.Hildegard is preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer; her parents, Leonard and Agatha Krieger; and her brother Edgar.She is survived by her children, Charlene (Fred DeLoera) Thiessen, Lynette (Dwight) Roth, Shaun (Karen) Thiessen, and Vonda (Duane) Kinser. Betty Jean (Becker) Carlson, 89, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at her home.

Betty was born on July 19, 1933, in McPherson County, the youngest of four children born to Tobias B. and Ida (Koehn) Becker.&nbsp; On July 26, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Robert Dean Carlson in Perham, MN.&nbsp; This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Dennis, Steven, and Diane.&nbsp; Married for nearly 59 years, Bob preceded her in death on July 7, 2009.

Along with being a homemaker, she worked as a waitress at Starlite Restaurant, a cook for Hickory Manor Nursing Home, a sales clerk for McNichols Shoe Store, and a holiday gift wrapper at Morris &amp; Sons Clothiers.&nbsp;

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and former member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Survivors include: her children, Dennis (Sherill) Carlson of McPherson, and Diane (Terry) Rhea of Hollister, MO; daughter-in-law, Lori Carlson of Manhattan; nine grandchildren, Tracy Rhea, Laura Rhea, Rob Newberry, Kelly (Carlson) Nicola, Melissa Newberry, Tara Flores, Jeremy Schmidt, Matt Carlson, and Jami Carlson; 18 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steve Carlson; siblings, Lincoln Becker, Allen Becker, and Rozella Chapman; a granddaughter, Amy Carlson; and a great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 17, at the First Baptist Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Johnny “Junebug” Cheeks was born June 27, 1958, in Great Bend, Kansas to Johnny Cheeks, Sr. and Virginia Lee (Robinson) Cheeks.

Johnny attended Larned high school and graduated in 1976. &nbsp;After graduating, he went on to serve in the United States Army. &nbsp;After discharge from the military, he found his home in Hutchinson with his family in 1976.&nbsp; He worked as a forklift operator for Midwest Iron and Metal for many years.&nbsp; Johnny was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he participated in the church choir and as an usher. &nbsp;Serving the Lord was one of Johnny’s greatest joys and we all find peace in knowing that he is right where he wants to be.

Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Winifred and Beulah Robinson, as well as many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include his daughter, Jonica Banks (Chris) of Clearwater, Florida; granddaughter, Aminah Banks who he was the greatest papa to; his mother, Virginia Cheeks of Hutchinson; sister, Jonnie Brown (Donnie) of Seattle, Washington; brother, Jerry Cheeks of Hutchinson; and longtime friend, Nece Killebrew.

A Celebration of Johnny’s Life will take place on Wednesday, November 16 at 10:00 A.M., Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 E. 7th&nbsp;Ave, with Reverend William J. Green, Sr. officiating. &nbsp;A visitation will be held at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th&nbsp;Ave, on Tuesday, November 15 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.&nbsp;&nbsp;
