
Donald Gale Gillock, 83, formerly of South Hutchinson, passed away April 3, 2023 in his home in Lawrence, with his family by his side. He was born May 7, 1939, in Nickerson, to George and Esther (Moore) Gillock.
Don graduated from Nickerson High School in 1958. He was a welder and retired from Hesston Corporation in 2001 after 27 years of service. Don had previously worked at Superior Boiler Works in Hutchinson.
In 1964, he married Elizabeth Ann Calcote, She preceded him death. Don was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son Eric (Hilary) Gillock; daughter Molly Thomas; four grandchildren; and brother John Gillock.
Don was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. He shot competition trap, skeet, and sporting clays for many years and won a multitude of trophies and awards. In his later years Don enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, hunting for antlers, and crafted many beautiful walking sticks and canes out of cedar.Don was a member of the NRA, ACA, KTA, and NSCA.
Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023. Please come to pay your respects and share stories or times shared with Don.
