Ofelia “Faye” (Rodriguez) Garcia, 93, died April 4, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 12, 1929, in Newton, to Severo and Teresa (Grajeda) Rodriguez.
Faye was a housewife and dedicated her time to her children. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking, but there was not anything she loved more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson.
On October 29, 1949, Faye married Rudolf M. Garcia, in Newton. They shared over 68 years of marriage, prior to his death on August 23, 2018.
Faye is survived by: her children, Cecilia Eldredge, Helen (Thomas) Weis, Rudolf M. (Kelly) Garcia Jr., all of Hutchinson; sisters, Henrietta Cavillo of Hutchinson, Martha Gomez of Newton; 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son-in-law Charles Eldredge; two brothers; and five sisters.
Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple St, South Hutchinson, with father Eric M. Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or Hospice House of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
