KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs traded wide receiver Tyreek Hill to Miami for a package of draft picks Wednesday, and the Dolphins gave the three-time All-Pro a $120 million, four-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid player ever at his position, a person familiar with the moves told The Associated Press.

The Chiefs will get the Dolphins' first- and second-round picks and their fourth-rounder in this year's draft, and fourth- and sixth-round picks next year, the person told the AP on condition of anonymity because terms were not announced.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the extension from Miami includes $72.2 million guaranteed. The value of the deal surpasses the five-year contract that&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/green-bay-packers-las-vegas-raiders-nfl-sports-derek-carr-acadefadd9b7d9bf6493ecc5af760fca">Davante Adams signed after he was traded from Green Bay to Las Vegas</a>&nbsp;last week, which averages $28.5 million and includes $67.5 million guaranteed.

The Chiefs had been in discussions with Hill on a contract extension in part because they were seeking relief from a tight salary cap situation. But talks had stalled over the past few days, and Hill's representatives requested permission to seek a trade, which came together quickly with multiple teams expressing interest in him.

The deal clears more than $18 million in salary cap space for Kansas City.

Hill appeared to indicate that his time with the Chiefs was over more than a week ago when the six-time Pro Bowl pick tweeted: “we came a long way thank you chiefs kingdom I'm forever indebted.”

It has been a wild NFL offseason when it comes to big names, even though the new league year is just 1 week old.

The Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos, Deshaun Watson ended up in Cleveland, the Falcons sent Matt Ryan to the Colts and Carson Wentz landed with the Commanders — and that's just quarterbacks. Adams landed with the Raiders while fellow wide receiver Amari Cooper went from Dallas to Cleveland, and top-tier pass rushers Khalil Mack (Chargers) and Yannick Ngakoue (Colts) also have landed with new teams.

Hill was a controversial pick by Kansas City in the fifth round of the 2015 draft because of off-the-field problems that led to his dismissal from Oklahoma State. But he's mostly steered clear of trouble since arriving with the Chiefs, giving Andy Reid an outlet for his offensive creativity and teaming with Patrick Mahomes to form one of the league's elite duos.

Hill helped the Chiefs win back-to-back AFC titles and their first Super Bowl in 50 years after the 2019 season. He also helped them get back to the conference championship game in January before losing to the Bengals, capping arguably the best year of his career: He had a club-record 111 catches for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns.

In just six seasons, Hill already has 479 catches for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdowns.

The trade for Hill is the second major move by the Dolphins this week as new coach Mike McDaniel attempts to build around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins also have agreed with Terron Armstead to an $87.5 million, five-year deal, landing a three-time Pro Bowl left tackle to anchor the offensive line.

The Chiefs have been trying to get younger the past few years, and the possibility that the 28-year-old Hill's speed could soon decline no doubt gave them pause. They also signed former Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who is 25, to a club-friendly one-year deal last week and are expected to add at least one wide receiver in the draft.

Nick Castellanos, Phillies finalize a $100 million deal

Vikings agree to 3-year, $42M deal with OLB Za'Darius Smith

(AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs agreed with defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi on a contract for next season, adding to the continuity on the defensive line that came with restructuring the contract of pass rusher Frank Clark. The contract with the 25-year-old Nnadi was announced Monday by his representatives at SportsTrust Advisors. Nnadi was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2018 draft and has been a dependable part of three AFC championship teams and another that was beaten in the conference title game this past season.

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals claimed left-hander Packy Naughton off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. Tennessee man convicted of killing former NBA player Lorenzen Wright

UNDATED (AP) — A jury has convicted a Tennessee man in the slaying of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright, whose bullet-riddled body was found in a field nearly 12 years ago in his hometown of Memphis.

The jury found Billy Ray Turner guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder and conspiracy Monday in the death of Wright. The judge sentenced Turner to life in prison. The 6-foot, 11-inch Wright played 13 seasons in the NBA before he retired after the 2008-2009 season.

— Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Lillard had abdominal surgery on Jan. 13, and it was widely expected he would not return. The Blazers made it official on Monday.

Wild acquire Fleury; Johansson back to Caps

UNDATED (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have acquired goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks hours before the NHL trade deadline. The Wild hope the three-time Stanley Cup winner can help them with a late-season playoff push. Minnesota gave up a conditional first-round pick in this year's draft to acquire the 37-year-old, who won the Vezina (VEH'-zih-nuh) Trophy a year ago with Vegas.

— The Washington Capitals acquired Marcus Johansson from the Seattle Kraken, in exchange for forward Daniel Sprong and two later-round draft picks. Seattle also retained 50% of Johansson's $1.5 million salary cap hit.

— The Coyotes acquired unsigned forward prospect Nathan Smith and Bryan Little's contract from the Winnipeg Jets for a 2022 fourth-round pick.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that the Indianapolis Colts have acquired their new quarterback, Matt Ryan, in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons. Indy is sending a third-round pick, No. 82 overall, for the longtime Falcons star.

Ryan led Atlanta to its second Super Bowl appearance following the 2016 season. That was the same season Ryan was named the league's MVP. Ryan's arrival means the Colts will be starting a new opening-day quarterback for the sixth consecutive year.

—A person familiar with the situation says free agent quarterback Jameis Winston has agreed to return to the New Orleans Saints. Winston started seven games for New Orleans in 2021 before a season-ending knee injury. The 28-year-old Winston completed 59% of his passes for 1,170 yards.

— Quarterback Matt Barkley is returning to the Buffalo Bills for a second stint after signing a one-year contract. Barkley did not see any action last year while splitting the season between Tennessee, Carolina and Atlanta.

— The Cincinnati Bengals have signed a third free-agent lineman to shore up an offensive line that has struggled to protect quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals got their new right tackle by signing former Dallas Cowboy La'el Collins to a three-year contract.

— Offensive tackle Trent Brown has agreed to a two-year deal to return to the New England Patriots. Brown's agent confirmed the new contract, which will help the Patriots maintain some stability on the right side of their front five after they traded right guard Shaq Mason to Tampa Bay.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Infielder Ryan McMahon and the Colorado Rockies have agreed to a $70 million, six-year contract that avoided salary arbitration.

McMahon gets $5 million this season, $9 million in 2023, $12 million in each of the following two seasons and $16 million in each of the last two years. He can opt out of the deal early depending on his finish in MVP voting.

Tang will be formally introduced to the public during a news conference on Thursday in the Shamrock Zone on the north concourse of Bramlage Coliseum. The news conference will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ as well as K-State social channels. It will also be carried on the K-State Sports Network. Further details on the news conference will be announced as soon as they are finalized. Tang agreed to a 6-year contract, which was approved by the K-State Athletics, Inc., Board of Directors and President&nbsp;Richard Linton. Tang will be paid $2.1 million in 2022-23 and will receive a $100,000 base salary increase each year remaining on the contract ($2.2 million in 2023-24, $2.3 million in 2024-25, $2.4 million in 2025-26, $2.5 million in 2026-27 and $2.6 million in 2027-28). "I am beyond excited to be the next head basketball coach at Kansas State," said Tang. Since the 2007-08 season, Tang has been pivotal in helping Baylor to a stretch of 15 consecutive seasons of at least 18 wins, including a school-record 30 in 2011-12, en route to a 361-153 (.702) record and 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. Since 2010, the Bears have appeared in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 five times (2010, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2021), three times advancing to the Elite Eight (2010, 2012, 2021) and once to the Final Four (2021). The 2021 Bears also won their first Big 12 Championship in the league's 25-year history, which was the school's first conference title in 71 years, then followed it up with a second-straight crown in 2022 by winning their last 5 conference games. Baylor's 55-9 (.859) record over the last two seasons is the nation's best among power conference teams, while the 81-13 (.862) record since 2019-20 is the second-best nationally, trailing only Gonzaga (90-6). Prior to his time at Baylor, Tang built a powerhouse at Heritage Christian Academy, a birth-through-high school private school in Cleveland, Texas, as both the head boys' basketball coach and athletic director, guiding the Eagles to four state championships from 1993 to 2003. His program gained national attention in 2001 when junior&nbsp;Cedrick Hensley&nbsp;scored 101 points in a game. Tang and Heritage Christian became known for producing Division I athletes, including his most-publicized recruit&nbsp;Vakeaton "Von" Wafer, a 2003 McDonald's All-American who played at Florida State and was drafted with the 39th&nbsp;pick by the L.A. Lakers in the 2005 NBA Draft. His last two teams featured a number of Division I signees including Hensley (Houston),&nbsp;Elijah Miller&nbsp;(Houston),&nbsp;Marlon Pompey&nbsp;(Texas A&amp;M),&nbsp;Lamar Hurd&nbsp;(Oregon State),&nbsp;Tim Mayes&nbsp;(Richmond) and&nbsp;Tyler Jones&nbsp;(St. John's). Tang earned a bachelor's degree from Charter Oak State College in 2007. Tang was born in San Fernando, Trinidad, West Indies on October 7, 1966. He migrated with his parents to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands until age 10 when his family moved to Texas. MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–&nbsp;Jerome Tang, one of the architects in helping build Baylor into a national powerhouse in his 19 seasons as an assistant and associate head coach, has been selected as the 25thhead men's basketball coach at Kansas State, Director of Athletics&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/staff.aspx?staff=1">Gene Taylor</a>&nbsp;announced Monday afternoon (March 21). Tang will be formally introduced to the public during a news conference on Thursday in the Shamrock Zone on the north concourse of Bramlage Coliseum. The news conference will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ as well as K-State social channels. It will also be carried on the K-State Sports Network. Further details on the news conference will be announced as soon as they are finalized. Tang agreed to a 6-year contract, which was approved by the K-State Athletics, Inc., Board of Directors and President&nbsp;Richard Linton. Tang will be paid $2.1 million in 2022-23 and will receive a $100,000 base salary increase each year remaining on the contract ($2.2 million in 2023-24, $2.3 million in 2024-25, $2.4 million in 2025-26, $2.5 million in 2026-27 and $2.6 million in 2027-28). "I am beyond excited to be the next head basketball coach at Kansas State," said Tang. "Having the opportunity to build on a program with a rich basketball history at a prestigious university is truly a blessing. Tang, 55, was an original member of head coach&nbsp;Scott Drew's&nbsp;coaching staff and played an instrumental role in building the Bears program from one rocked by scandal and NCAA probation into one that has developed into one of the nation's top programs highlighted by the 2021 NCAA Championship and consecutive Big 12 regular-season titles in 2021 and 2022. He served his first 14 seasons (2003-17) on staff as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach in 2017. ﻿"I am extremely excited to welcome Jerome, Careylyen, Seven and Aylyn to Manhattan and K-State," Taylor said. In the process, he has helped coach 11 All-Americans, including consensus selections&nbsp;Johnathan Motley&nbsp;(2017) and&nbsp;Jared Butler&nbsp;(2021), a National Defensive Player of the Year in&nbsp;Davion Mitchell&nbsp;(2021) and 58 All-Big 12 honorees, including nine on the First Team. The head coaching role will not be new for Tang, who built a powerhouse at Heritage Christian Academy in Cleveland, Texas over a 10-year period (1993-2003) before starting his tenure at Baylor in 2003. He also stepped in on four occasions as the Bears' interim head coach, winning the first two games of the 2012-13 Big 12 schedule at home against Texas, 86-79 in overtime, and on the road at Texas Tech, 82-48, and the first two games of the 2020-21 national title season in Las Vegas against Louisiana-Lafayette (112-82) and Washington (86-52). Since the 2007-08 season, Tang has been pivotal in helping Baylor to a stretch of 15 consecutive seasons of at least 18 wins, including a school-record 30 in 2011-12, en route to a 361-153 (.702) record and 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. Since 2010, the Bears have appeared in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 five times (2010, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2021), three times advancing to the Elite Eight (2010, 2012, 2021) and once to the Final Four (2021). His program gained national attention in 2001 when junior&nbsp;Cedrick Hensley&nbsp;scored 101 points in a game. After winning just two games last season, Iowa State advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2016 and the sixth time in school history. It will play 10th-seeded Miami in the Midwest Region semifinals on Friday in Chicago.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Lexi Donarski scored 20 points and third-seeded Iowa State raced to its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2010 with a 67-44 win over sixth-seeded Georgia. Emily Ryan had 15 points, nine assists and six rebounds for the Cyclones, and Ashley Joens added 12 points. Jenna Staiti led Georgia with 16 points. The Bulldogs shot 31% from the floor and never had a lead. Iowa State will meet Creighton in a Sweet 16 matchup on Friday in Greensboro, North Carolina.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Lauren Jensen scored 19 points, hitting a key 3-pointer with 12 seconds left, and No. 10 seed Creighton eliminated No. 2 seed Iowa from the NCAA tournament 64-62 on Sunday. Emma Ronziek and Payton Brotzki each had 13 points for the Bluejays (22-9), who advance to next week's Greensboro Region semifinals. Iowa (24-8), which shared the Big Ten regular-season title and won the conference tournament, had two chances to tie the game in the closing three seconds. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Freshman point guard Chucky Hepburn departed Wisconsin's NCAA Tournament game against Iowa State in the first half with leg injury. Hepburn went down after contesting Tyrese Hunter's layup with 4:37 left. Hepburn grabbed his left leg as he lay on the ground. He put no pressure on his leg as he was helped off the court.

UNDATED (AP) — Double-digit seeds are leaving their mark on the first weekend of the women's NCAA Tournament and bouncing some of the top players and teams in the country, including Iowa's Caitlin Clark and Baylor's NaLyssa Smith. Creighton and South Dakota continued the run of upsets as the two No. 10 seeds advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time ever for each school. That's eight wins by double-digit seeds in this tournament — tying the most ever in NCAA women's basketball history through two rounds set in 2018. There's a chance for a few more to win Monday, which would break the mark when the regional semifinals field is completed.

With the win, the defending national champions extended their winning streak to 22 games and secured a trip to the Sweet 16. Cameron Brink added 13 points, 12 rebounds and four assists as the Cardinal used a dominant third quarter to pull away. Zakiyah Franklin scored 13 points to lead Kansas, which was back in the tourney for the first time since 2013.

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma State has hired Kansas City's Jacie Hoyt as its women's basketball coach. Hoyt went 81-65 during her five-year stint as Kansas City's coach. The Roos won the Western Athletic Conference regular-season championship in 2020. This season, Kansas City finished third in the Summit League and lost to Northern Iowa in the women's NIT. Hoyt replaces Jim Littell, who went 204-140 at Oklahoma State. He was Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2021 and led the Cowgirls to six NCAA Tournament appearances. The sides agreed to part ways toward the end of a 9-20 season.

UNDATED (AP) — Second-seeded Auburn is returning home without advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

No. 10 Miami is in the regional semifinals for the first time in six years following a 79-61 stifling of the Tigers. Isaiah Wong scored 21 points and Kameron McGusty had 20 as the Hurricanes humbled a team that spent three weeks atop The Associated Press men's basketball poll.

Jabari Smith had just 10 points on 3 of 16 shooting for Auburn, while Walker Kessler was held to two points.

Later on, top seed Arizona was taken to overtime before disposing of TCU, 85-80. Bennedict Mathurin (MATH'-uh-rihn) made a 3-pointer to force overtime and scored six more points in the extra session to finish with 30. Christian Koloko shot 12 of 13 from the field and scored 28, including a putback dunk that slammed the door on the Horned Frogs with 9 seconds left.

— Collin Gillespie scored 20 points and second-seeded Villanova advanced to the Sweet 16 for the eighth time under Jay Wright by holding off Ohio State, 71-61. Gillespie scored 10 consecutive points on a pair of free throws, two 3-pointers and a steal and layup as Villanova needed less than eight minutes to build a double-digit lead on its way to a 39-28 halftime lead. The Wildcats saw a 15-point lead trimmed to two before they closed on an 11-3 run, keyed by Eric Dixon's 3-pointer.

— Jaden Ivey made a critical 3-pointer with 1:01 left and finished with 18 points to carry Purdue past Texas, 81-71. Trevion Williams scored 22 points to lead the Boilermakers, who capitalized on a major disparity at the free-throw line to reach the Sweet 16. PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Longtime Rutgers men's basketball coach Tom Young has died at age 89.

Young is the only coach to lead the program to the Final Four, doing it in 1976 as the Scarlet Knights were undefeated before falling in the semifinals. He is the winningest coach in the history of the men's basketball program, compiling a .671 winning percentage at 239-117 between 1973-85. That run included four trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Tom Young Jr. told the university his father died in Virginia Beach.

UNDATED (AP) — The Phoenix Suns are a little closer to wrapping up the No. 1 seed in the NBA's Western Conference.

Landry Shamet nailed a 3-pointer with 31 seconds left in overtime to put the Suns ahead to stay in a 127-124 win over the Kings. It was the fifth 3-pointer of the game for Shamet, who finished with 27 points.

Devin Booker scored 19 of his 31 points in the third quarter of the Suns' fifth straight win.

—Desmond Bane had 24 points and the Grizzlies overcame the absence of star Ja (jah) Morant with balanced scoring attack to crush the Rockets, 122-98. Bane was one of six Memphis players to score at least 13 points on a day Morant sat out with a sore knee. The Grizzlies took control with a 15-0 run in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers by Jaren Jackson Jr.

— Donovan Mitchell scored 36 points and the Jazz opened a six-game road trip with a 108-93 victory over the Knicks. Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to score 18 of his 23 points in the first half for Utah. Rudy Gobert (goh-BEHR') and Royce O'Neale each had 14 points in the win.

— The Raptors were 93-88 winners over the 76ers behind Pascal Siakam's (see-A'-kamz) 26 points and 10 rebounds. Precious Achiuwa (ah-CHOO'-ah) provided 21 points and Chris Boucher had 12 with 14 rebounds in Toronto's sixth consecutive road win. — Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum each scored 30 points in leading the sizzling Boston Celtics to a 124-104 win over the Nuggets. Boston shot nearly 60% from the floor, sank 19 of 38 3-pointers and hit all 11 of its free throws. Nikola Jokic (nih-KOH'-lah YOH'-kihch) had 23 points for the Nuggets, who shot 39% from the floor, 33% from long-range.

— Keldon Johnson scored off a rebound of a missed free throw with three-tenths of a second left to give the Spurs a 110-108 victory over the Warriors. Josh Richardson led the Spurs with 25 points, and Dejounte Murray had 19. Jordan Poole scored 28 points, and Klay Thompson had 24 Golden State, which was playing its first game since losing Steph Curry to a left foot injury.

Reports: Red Sox sign Trevor Story to play 2B

UNDATED (AP) — The Red Sox have reportedly agreed to terms with Rockies All-Star shortstop Trevor Story on a six-year, $140 million contract that would bring him to Boston to play second base.

The deal gives the Red Sox a long-term answer at second. The position has been in flux since former AL MVP Dustin Pedroia (peh-DROY'-ah) was first injured in 2017.

— Kyle Schwarber and the Philadelphia Phillies have finalized their $79 million, four-year contract. The 29-year-old slugging outfielder split last season with Washington and Boston, hitting .266 with 32 home runs. Philadelphia also has a pending $100 million, five-year contract with free-agent slugger Nick Castellanos (kas-tee-AH'-nohs).

— Mariners manager Scott Servais (SUR'-vihs) says right-hander Casey Sadler needs season-ending surgery on his injured right shoulder. The 31-year-old had an 0.67 ERA in 42 games last season, including a franchise-record run of 29 consecutive scoreless appearances.

— The Twins and right-handed reliever Joe Smith have finalized a one-year contract. Smith pitched in 50 combined games last season for Houston and Seattle, posting a 4.99 ERA in 39 2/3 innings.

Private investigator says drug kingpin targeted David Ortiz

BOSTON (AP) — Private investigators hired by David Ortiz say a Dominican drug trafficker who was jealous of the Red Sox slugger had Ortiz shot at a Dominican nightclub in 2019.

The Boston Globe reported Saturday that the findings by former Boston police commissioner Edward Davis contradict the theory of the crime developed by Dominican prosecutors. Dominican authorities called it a case of mistaken identity, saying the assailant meant to kill another man sitting at a table with the Hall of Famer.

UNDATED (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have their first four-game losing streak of the season, keeping their lead in the NHL's Metropolitan Division at three points over Pittsburgh.

Alexander Georgiev (GYOHR-gee-ehv) picked up his seventh career shutout by making a season-high 44 saves in the Rangers' 2-0 win over the Hurricanes.

Chris Kreider broke a scoreless tie late in the second period to support Georgiev's first shutout since last March 17th.

The Hurricanes ended a 14-game home point streak, one short of the team record.

— Roope Hintz scored two power-play goals and the Stars propped up their playoff hopes by downing the Capitals, 3-2. Hintz tallied less than six minutes after Alex Ovechkin (oh-VECH'-kin) tied it for the Caps. Ovechkin joined Wayne Gretzky as the only players with 12 40-goal seasons.
