ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Two-time All-Star Corbin Burnes and Brady Singer lost in salary arbitration on Wednesday.

Burnes will receive $10.01 million from the Milwaukee Brewers rather than his $10.75 million request, Melinda Gordon, Jules Bloch and Keith Greenberg ruled one day after hearing arguments.

Singer will get $2.95 million rather than $3,325,000 from the Kansas City Royals, according to the decision by Howard Edelman, Walt De Treux and Brian Keller.

Three players went to hearings on Wednesday: Los Angeles Angels infielder Gio Urshela ($10 million vs. $8.4 million), St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley ($3 million vs. $2.15 million) and Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Josh Rojas ($2.9 million vs. $2,575,000).

Five other players await pending decisions and four more have possible hearings.

Burnes, a 28-year-old right-hander, was 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA last year and made a career-best 33 starts, which tied for most in the major leagues. He led the National League with 243 strikeouts, second in the big leagues behind New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole at 257. Burnes earned $6.55 million.

He won the 2021 NL Cy Young Award after leading the majors with a 2.43 ERA. He went 11-5 for the Brewers that year.

A five-year veteran, Burnes is 35-19 with a 3.21 ERA. He is eligible for free agency after the 2024 World Series.

Singer, a 26-year-old right-hander, was 10-5 with a 3.23 ERA in 24 starts and three relief appearances last year, when he had a salary of $726,250. He was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on April 28 and recalled on May 17.

Singer was eligible for arbitration for the first time.

All-Star pitcher Max Fried ($13.5 million) lost to Atlanta earlier, outfielder Kyle Tucker ($5 million) was beaten by Houston and reliever Diego Castillo ($2.95 million) was defeated by Seattle.

Left-hander Jesús Luzardo ($2.45 million) and AL batting champion Luis Arraez ($6.1 million) both beat Miami, and reliever Jason Adam ($1,775,000) defeated Tampa Bay.

The 31-year-old Urshela hit .285 with 13 homers and 64 RBIs last season for Minnesota, which traded him to the Angels on Nov. 18 for minor league right-hander Alejandro Hidalgo. Urshela earned $6.55 million.

His case was heard by Fredric Horowitz, Jeanne Charles and Stephen Raymond.

Urshela is primarily a third baseman. He has a .275 batting average with 62 homers and 256 RBIs in parts of seven seasons with Cleveland (2015, '17), Toronto (2018), the Yankees (2019-21) and the Twins. He is eligible for free agency after this year's World Series.

Helsley, a 28-year-old right-hander, was 9-1 with a 1.25 ERA and 19 saves in 23 chances over 54 relief appearances, earning $722,450 . He struck out 94 and walked 20 in 64 2/3 innings. His case was heard by Bloch, Jeanne Vonhof and John Woods.

Rojas, also 28, set career bests with a .269 average and 56 RBIs while hitting nine home runs. He earned $730,900. Rojas' case was heard by Keller, Mark Burstein and Scott Buchheit.

Angels outfielder Hunter Renfroe and infielder Luis Rengifo await decisions along with Rays pitchers Colin Poche and Ryan Thompson, and Tampa Bay outfielder Harold Ramírez.

Seattle outfielder Teoscar Hernández, Pittsburgh first baseman Ji-Man Choi, Cardinals left-hander Génesis Cabrera and Philadelphia reliever Seranthony Domínguez have possible hearings this week.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A Texas prosecutor said Wednesday he will dismiss a felony domestic violence case against former Texas basketball coach Chris Beard, in part because of the alleged victim’s wishes not to prosecute. Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza said after a review of the evidence, and considering the wishes of Beard’s fiancée, his office could not prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt. Beard was arrested Dec. 12 after his fiancée, Randi Trew, told officers he strangled, bit and hit her in a confrontation in his home. She later said Beard acted in self-defense and didn't want him prosecuted. Texas suspended Beard the day he was arrested and fired him on Jan. 5.

He had no trouble getting up the 52 steps to the clubhouse at Riviera. The real test comes on Thursday when Woods plays against a full field of the world’s best players for the first time since the British Open. Adding to the challenge is that Woods has never fared very well at Riviera. He once either won or was runner-up in 10 out of 11 tournaments on the PGA Tour. The exception was a tie for 18th at Riviera.

MERIBEL, France (AP) — American skier Mikaela Shiffrin has posted the fastest time in the opening run of the giant slalom at the world championships. Shiffrin was the third starter and beat the time of then-leader Tessy Worley of France by 0.12 seconds. Defending champion Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland had more than six-tenths to make up in the second run. Shiffrin was the 2018 Olympic champion and won five of the last six giant slaloms on the World Cup circuit. Colbert added her fifth straight double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. 🏀 WBB: Asinde, Colbert continue dominance in WSU win over Tulsa

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to clog the streets of downtown Kansas City to celebrate the 2023 Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Officials began planning Wednesday's parade even before the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. City leaders said 19 local and area law enforcement agencies, along with fire officials and transportation workers, are ready to provide protection as the team takes a victory lap through downtown Kansas City. Most schools, many businesses and some government offices in the Kansas City metro area will be closed so people can celebrate. The event starts at noon and will end with a victory rally at the city's Union Station.

The Wildcats got the first basket of the second half, and then the Sooners scored 12 straight to move to a 48-38 lead early in the second half, spurred by threes from Sherfield, Groves and Uzan. Oklahoma shot 11-for-23 (47.8%) and went on to lead by as many as 16. Kansas State got no closer than eight the rest of the way.

It was Oklahoma’s first conference win in a month, since a one-point win at home over West Virginia. With the loss, Kansas State fell into a fifth place tie with Oklahoma State in the Big 12 race.

Kansas State - Tang was trying to become just the fourth Wildcats coach to win 20 games in his first season, joining Lon Krueger, Bob Huggins and Frank Martin. He is currently still tied for the winningest first year head coach this season with Sean Miller of Xavier and Dennis Gates of Missouri.

Hutchinson (16-11, 10-11 KJCCC) built a 41-27 halftime lead before erupting for a 62 percent shooting performance in the second half to pull away from Colby (5-21, 2-18). Aaron Franklin led the way for the Blue Dragons with a double-double, going for 27 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes of play. Franklin did so on 22 field goal attempts, 13 more than Kernan Bundy's nine shot attempts, which were second-most. Aaron Potter finished with 14, Bundy had 13 and Kieran Carr put up 11 points. Elijah Wood had a team-high 22 points for the host Trojans, while Joshua O'Garro and Anthony Sellars both went for 12. The Blue Dragons committed 18 turnovers, which led to 20 points for Colby, while the Trojans had 16 turnovers, leading to 22 HutchCC points. MAIZE, Kan.&nbsp;— The Hutchinson High School Salthawks basketball teams traveled to Maize for an Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division I battle on Tuesday night. Both teams came out on top.&nbsp; The Salthawk girls defeated 5A No. 7 Maize South 47-43 in double overtime before the 5A No. 2 Hutchinson boys completed the sweep, winning 52-49 over the 5A No. 4 Mavericks. The Hutchinson girls (13-4) would use some timely free throws in the final seconds of the second overtime to secure a four-point road win. The Salthawks complete the season sweep of the Mavericks after winning in Hutchinson in early January. The Mavericks entered Tuesday's contest with a 10-game winning streak. Hutchinson led 13-8 after the first quarter and 20-12 at halftime. Just like the first meeting in Hutchinson, the Mavericks made some second-half adjustments. Maize South turned up its defensive intensity and caused all sorts of problems for the Salthawks. The Mavericks outscored Hutchinson 12-6 in the third period to pull within 26-24 going into the fourth quarter. Hutchinson trailed 35-34 with under 10 seconds to go, but that's when the unthinkable happened. Maize South lost track of the situation and fouled the Salthawks to secure free throws on the other end. HHS went 1-of-2 from the line to tie the game at 35 and force overtime. The Mavericks secured all of the momentum on their home floor as the extra period started. Both teams struggled in the first overtime frame, as each team scored just one point. The scoring picked up in the second overtime, as each team made their first two shots to tie the game at 40 a piece. Josie McLean knocked down two big free throws with 22 seconds remaining to give the Salthawks a 45-40 lead. Bella Peters knocked down a huge three-pointer on the other end and pulled the Mavericks within 45-43. McLean was once again fouled and knocked down both free throws to give Hutchinson a 47-43 lead. Hannah Ames finished with 13 points to lead the Salthawks, while Grace Posch and Aliyah Green each scored seven. This game was a tale of quarters, as the Salthawks would come out red-hot, knocking down five three-pointers in the first quarter to build a 21-9 lead after the first frame. The shots that were falling in the first quarter weren't in the second, as the Mavericks outscored the Salthawks 16-9 in the second frame to pull within 30-25 at halftime. Maize South (14-3) came out firing to start the second half, as Isaiah Atwater buried three three-pointers in the third frame alone, two of those back-to-back to help secure a 14-0 Maize South run. The Salthawks, who once led by 16 in the second quarter, saw their lead slip away. Maize South grabbed its first lead in the third quarter. The Mavericks would carry a 43-38 lead into the final frame. The Salthawks tied the game up at 43 a piece with 5:44 remaining in the game, and then once again at 45-all. Hutchinson got a clutch three-pointer from the left corner by Wade Meyer to give the Salthawks the 48-45 lead with 2:40 remaining. BEATRICE, Nebraska – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team earned its first series victory of the season after splitting Games 3 and 4 of the season-opening series with Southeast Community College on Monday at Christensen Field.

Will Edmundson continued his torrid start with a pair of twos and freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/childress_max_4ayg">Max Childress</a>&nbsp;drove in three runs as Hutchinson defeated the Storm 8-4 in the first game on Monday. The Blue Dragons had 10 hits, but stranded 14 base runners in a 5-4 loss in the series finale.

The Blue Dragons are 3-1 after the opening weekend. The Blue Dragons travel to Texas this weekend for three games against Temple, Hill and McLennan.

GAME 1 RECAP Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/mckee_gus_hrea">Gus McKay</a>&nbsp;earned a victory in his first career start, working four-plus innings in the first game on Monday. McKay allowed four hits and one earned run with three strikeouts and two walks. He threw three shutout innings in the first three innings. After retiring the first two batters of the fourth inning, McKay allowed a two-out walk and run-scoring double.

⚾️ Dragon BSB starts 3-1

The Hutchinson and Colby Community College athletics departments made a mutual decision on Sunday to move up Wednesday's regularly scheduled games to Tuesday.

The reason that prompted the move is a scheduled winter storm for northwest Kansas on Wednesday and Thursday. Colby is forecast to have anywhere from 4 to 7 inches of snow with north wins above 30 mph.

The Blue Dragons and Trojans will now play on Tuesday at the Colby Events Center. The women's game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men's game will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Open Spaces Sports will provide the only video stream of the games.

The games will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9), beginning at 5:15 p.m.

🏀Hutchinson at Colby Games moved up to Tuesday

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in a memorable Super Bowl that included plenty of big plays on and off the field. Here's a look at some top moments from Sunday night's game:

Harrison Butker kicked a 27-yard field goal with 8 seconds remaining to lift the Chiefs to their 38-35 win over the Eagles. The Chiefs have won the Super Bowl in two of the past four seasons and their roll shows no sign of stopping, especially with Patrick Mahomes throwing the passes. Kansas City's quarterback overcame a sprained ankle to earn Super Bowl MVP honors after throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns. Coach Andy Reid also captured his second Super Bowl title and this one came at the expense of the franchise he coached for 14 seasons before coming to Kansas City.

Rihanna provided a high-flying halftime performance in Arizona. The nine-time Grammy Award winner began and ended the halftime show suspended high above the field. She wore a puffy, bright red jumpsuit with tight, rubbery garb underneath as she stood on a transparent rectangular platform that raised and lowered as she belted out the lyrics to her hit songs over the turf.

Oh yeah, and to top it off, she did the performance while pregnant, news that was revealed after the show.

The Phoenix area is no stranger to hosting big events, but this was a huge weekend even by its standards. The winter and spring months are already tourist season in Arizona and the Super Bowl added another layer of revelry, adding tens of thousands of people who filled bars and restaurants and at times spilled into the streets. Throw in the Phoenix Open, the PGA Tour's version of a boozy mosh pit on grass, and the Phoenix area transforms into a weeklong Valley of Fun.

"The buzz is definitely here," said Jay Parry, president and CEO of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee.

This could be a highlight or lowlight, depending on rooting allegiances, but James Bradberry's penalty on the final drive was undeniably a huge moment. The Chiefs were driving and faced third-and-8 at the Eagles 15-yard line with 1:54 remaining when Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw incomplete to JuJu Smith-Schuster. But officials flagged Bradberry for defensive holding, which negated the incompletion and, more importantly, gave the Chiefs a first down. Replays showed Bradberry made light contact with Smith-Schuster, though it didn't appear to affect the play much. Many fans — and some football commentators — disagreed with the call. The only person who didn't seem upset with the call was Bradberry himself.

"It was a holding. I tugged his jersey," Bradberry said. "I was hoping they would let it slide."

Mahomes rallied the Chiefs to victory and for that, casinos around the U.S. were pleased. Kansas City's 38-35 win meant the books were winners on the betting line, which generally favored the Eagles by 1 1/2 points and drew plenty of wagering on the NFC champions. That victory by the casinos offset a loss on the total, which was 51 1/2 points at many places. Sports betting has become huge business in the U.S. now that two-thirds of the country can do so legally.

Kadarius Toney's struggles with injuries and inconsistency prompted the New York Giants to give up on him midway through his second NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs gave him a second chance and the talented receiver proved he's no first-round bust. Toney made history and two of the biggest plays in the Chiefs' win. His 65-yard punt return in the fourth quarter was a particularly big moment. It was the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.

The first hint it might be the Chiefs' night came in the second quarter when Hurts fumbled and Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton scooped up the football and ran 36 yards for the touchdown. It was at a pivotal moment in the evening: The Eagles were ahead 14-7 and driving at midfield when Bolton's game-changing play occurred. Suddenly, the game was tied and the drama was just beginning.

The Super Bowl might be known for its extravagance, but country singer and songwriter Chris Stapleton didn't need any high-tech help for a stellar performance during the national anthem. Stapleton stood at midfield with just a guitar and his smooth baritone voice, belting out an emotional rendition that had Eagles coach Nick Sirianni in tears by the end.

Hurts wasn't victorious in his first Super Bowl appearance, but the young quarterback has no reason to be ashamed. He was phenomenal in Arizona, setting a Super Bowl record with three rushing touchdowns. On top of that, he completed 27 of 38 passes for 304 yards and a touchdown, showing poise and perfect throwing touch on a number of occasions.

The field at State Farm Stadium may have looked immaculate, but by the second half, it was clear that traction was not great. Said Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata: "It was like playing on a water park." The grass at State Farm Stadium is on a giant tray that is rolled in and out of the retractable roof stadium. The field sits out in the Arizona sun on warm days and is brought back inside when it gets cold. This particular batch of grass started growing in May of 2021, but even a nearly two-year process couldn't produce a flawless field.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin made it to the Super Bowl. He made three appearances during the week in Arizona, including on the field at State Farm Stadium prior to the game. It's been a little more than a month since Hamlin went into cardiac arrest and needed to be resuscitated on the field in Cincinnati. Sunday's appearance was another milestone in his remarkable recovery. "I'm allowing that to be in God's hands," Hamlin said in an interview with Fox's Michael Strahan. "I'm just thankful he gave me a second chance."

🏈 Super Bowl top moments happened on, off and above the field

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Super Bowl had something for everyone.

Long before Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy, the biggest winner of this NFL season walked onto the field. Damar Hamlin came out to a rousing ovation during a pregame ceremony honoring the men and women who saved his life.

Hamlin’s third appearance of the week was the best feel-good moment on a day filled with many inspirational themes.

Mahomes and Jalen Hurts put on a historic show in the first Super Bowl featuring two Black starting quarterbacks. Hurts was spectacular but Mahomes played through an ankle injury and rallied the Chiefs from a 10-point deficit for a 38-35 comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

It was yet another lesson on dealing with adversity and rising to the occasion playing out before hundreds of millions of viewers on the sport’s biggest stage.

“I appreciate it because of the failures,” Mahomes said about winning his second championship in four years. “I mean the failure of losing a Super Bowl and losing the AFC championship game gives you a greater appreciation to be standing here as a champion."

Brotherhood was on display in the first Super Bowl matchup involving two brothers playing on different teams. Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce caught a touchdown pass to help his team topple All-Pro center Jason Kelce and the Eagles. Mama Kelce was everywhere throughout the week and sat between NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Hamlin in a suite.

“There’s nothing I can say to him other than I love him and he played a hell of a year, a hell of a season,” Travis Kelce said. “To see my family be in all its glory and get all its flowers, my mom be the center of attention on the Jumbotron before the game on the biggest stage and being able to get closer with my brother throughout the season and to meet him at the mountain top, it’s the best feeling in the world. I don’t know how many more I got left, but I’ll cherish this one forever.”

Donna Kelce was the most popular mother in Arizona until Rihanna showed up for a scintillating halftime show. The superstar singer kicked off and finished her superb performance soaring high above the slippery field surface on a platform that was suspended in the air.

And, she did it while pregnant. Rihanna’s representative confirmed afterward that she’s pregnant with her second child.

“So iconic for Rihanna to let an American football game happen at her pregnancy reveal/concert,” a fan wrote on Twitter.

Even the commercials had a warm, fuzzy vibe. Advertisers used familiar celebrity faces, light humor and plenty of cute dogs in ads that cost as much as $7 million for 30 seconds.

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) is pleased to introduce Mike Saddler as the next Commissioner of the Jayhawk Conference effective July 1, 2023. Saddler is set to succeed current KJCCC Commissioner, Carl Heinrich, who announced his retirement at the end of the 2022-2023 year.

Heinrich has served as the head of the Jayhawk Conference since 2018, providing the leadership for 21 institutions in Kansas, including the 19 community colleges, Northwest Tech, and Hesston College.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to become the next commissioner of the premier conference in the NJCAA. I’ve been fortunate to spend 16 years involved with this conference as a player, coach, and administrator so getting the privilege to lead the conference as it’s commissioner is humbling. I’m looking forward to working alongside the presidents, athletic directors, and coaches to help this conference continue to grow and thrive”, said Saddler. Current KJCCC President, Dr. Marlon Thornburg of Coffeyville said, “we’re excited to have Mike on board to lead the Jayhawk Conference. His knowledge and experience within the conference and on the national level will be beneficial as he provides the leadership for our member institutions.”

Saddler is the current Athletic Director at Colby Community College in Colby, KS, a position he has held since 2018. The Trojans have experienced outstanding success on the field under Saddler. Colby has won five of the 18 Jayhawk Conference Championships since Saddler become the Athletic Director, and the men’s cross-country team recently claimed the school’s first National Championship in over 20 years.

Prior to his time at Colby, Saddler spent nine years at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, KS. He started his career at Neosho County as an assistant baseball coach where he helped guide the team to its second NJCAA World Series appearance before transitioning to a role in athletic administration in the fall of 2012. Saddler spent three years as Assistant Athletic Director, before being named the Athletic Director in the Spring of 2015.

Saddler has also been an active voice at the conference and national level serving as the Region 6 Men’s Director since 2015. As part of his role Saddler has served as the NJCAA Division I Baseball Chair since 2017 and also serves as the vice chair of the NJCAA Eligibility Committee in addition to other committee assignments. In 2017 Saddler was also named the Jayhawk Conference Secretary/Treasurer.

An alum of the Jayhawk Conference, Saddler began his collegiate career as a student-athlete at Colby Community College where he earned an Associate degree and NJCAA All-Academic honors in 2002. He would continue on to the University of Kansas where he earned his Bachelors of Science Degree followed by a Master’s of Science in Sports Administration from Fort Hays State University.

Saddler has been a member of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators and the National Association of College Directors of Athletics since 2012. In July of 2022 Saddler was recognized as the 2021-22 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Athletic Director of the Year.

Saddler and his wife Sara reside in Colby, KS. The Saddlers have two sons, Brody (12) and Hudson (9).

The Chiefs — who won 38-35 — were driving and faced third-and-8 at the Eagles 15-yard line with 1:54 remaining when Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw incomplete to JuJu Smith-Schuster. But officials flagged Bradberry for defensive holding, which negated the incompletion and gave the Chiefs a first down. Replays showed that Bradberry made light contact with Smith-Schuster, but it didn’t appear to affect the play. Kansas City was able to essentially run out the clock from that point forward and kick a late field goal for the win.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Quarterback Derek Carr turned down a trade offer from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New Orleans Saints, a person with knowledge of the decision said Sunday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to comment publicly. That person said Carr wouldn’t accept a pay cut to help finalize the deal, and the Saints were the only team interested in making a trade with the Raiders. Carr has a no-trade clause in his contract. Given those circumstances and Wednesday’s deadline for the Raiders to trade or release Carr, it appears Las Vegas will cut the QB.

UNDATED (AP) — New Mexico State has called off the rest of its men’s basketball season after reviewing a police report that cited three players for false imprisonment, harassment and criminal sexual contact against a teammate. In a statement, chancellor Dan Arvizu said the action was needed after receiving additional details of reports related to hazing allegations against players. KTSM-TV in El Paso, Texas, obtained what it said was a redacted police report with none of the players named. The station said the report detailed the victim telling investigators that on Feb. 6, three members of the team held down the victim, removed his clothing exposing his buttocks and began to hit him in the buttocks, The victim also said the players touched his scrotum.

Then Toney returned a line-drive kick 65 yards to the Eagles 5 for the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.On third down from the 4, Mahomes connected with Skyy Moore to extend their lead to 35-27. Moore also was wide open on the play.But the Eagles wouldn't go away.Hurts hit DeVonta Smith for a 46-yard gain to the Chiefs and ran in for his third score of the game. He also ran in for the 2-point conversion to tie it at 35-35 with 5:15 to go.As "Fly! Eagles! Fly!" reverberated throughout the stadium, Mahomes and the Chiefs went back to work.The 27-year-old Mahomes became the third player to win his second NFL MVP award before age 28. He also became the youngest QB to start three Super Bowls. Then, Mahomes became the first player to win the Super Bowl the same season he was MVP after nine straight players lost.Just five years after winning the first Super Bowl in franchise history, the Eagles came close with a new coach — Nick Sirianni — and new quarterback — Hurts.Hurts set a Super Bowl record with 70 yards rushing and tied a record with three rushing scores.The Eagles marched 75 yards down the field with Hurts scoring from the 1 for a 7-0 lead, and controlled the ball for almost 22 minutes in the first half.Hurts, who missed two games late in the season with a shoulder injury, had no trouble throwing a perfect deep ball to A.J. Brown, giving the Eagles a 14-7 lead with a 45-yard connection on the first play of the second quarter.But Hurts then made a rare mistake on the next drive when he fumbled without being hit while scrambling away from pressure. Nick Bolton picked it up and raced 36 yards for a score that made it 14-14. Hurts had just eight turnovers this season, six picks and two fumbles.Undeterred, Hurts kept running.He took off for 14 yards on the first play after the fumble. On fourth-and-5 from Chiefs 44, Hurts ran 28 yards. He finished off the drive with a 4-yard TD run to put Philadelphia ahead 21-14.Elliott kicked a 35-yard field goal to send the Eagles into halftime leading 24-14.Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce on an 18-yard TD pass in the right corner to tie it at 7-7 in the first quarter. The Chiefs' All-Pro tight end and Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce became the first set of brothers to play against each other in the Super Bowl.Their mom, Donna Kelce, wore a half-red, half-green jersey with No. 87 on the front for Travis and No. 62 on the back for Jason. She sat in a suite between NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Damar Hamlin.Eagles fans turned State Farm Stadium into a sea of green, chanting "E-A-G-L-E-S!" and singing the team's fight song after each score. But they left disappointed.Reid won more games than any coach in team history during 14 seasons with the Eagles but the one knock against him was that he couldn't win the big one. Reid finally earned his ring with the Chiefs when they beat San Francisco in the Super Bowl following the 2019 season. They went back the next year and lost to Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.The first Super Bowl involving both No. 1 seeds since the Eagles beat the Patriots in February 2018 lived up to its hype.
