COLUMBIA, Missouri—Iowa State transfer Caleb Grill announced his commitment to Missouri via his twitter account on Thursday..

The former Maize High Eagle began his career at Iowa State before transferring to UNLV but ended up back in Ames, following T.J. Otzelberger, who was named the Cyclone head coach in 2020. Throughout his four-year career, Grill has averaged 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 38% from the field and 34% from three-point land.

He was dismissed from the program for “a failure to meet the program’s expectations.”

Grill was called for a technical foul during the February 27th game versus West Virginia for shoving, but it was something that he had said that was ultimately what led to his dismissal from the program.

“We hold our players to high standards and there are expectations that our student-athletes are held accountable for,” Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, I said something that I regret which has cost me the opportunity to finish out my dream at lowa State,” Grill tweeted. “I hope that all the players and lowa State fans can find it in their hearts to forgive me. In the end, I want to be remembered as a Cyclone no matter what my next step is. I love Ames and I love lowa State and I will hopefully become (a) booster or donor someday when I get older.”

Grill will have one year of eligibility remaining.
